Corner and Straight Names for PD-Created Circuits - Circuit maps added in Post #5 - Details in OP

Should turn 10 of Special Stage Route 5 be called 'Double' or '5-11'?

Track: High Speed Ring
Layout: Forward
Turn #6
Name: Turn of Traction
Reason: Because a good traction here becomes higher top speed at the long straight.
I remmber this track at the Red&Blue RM Championship, where almost everyone but me had a Fully tuned Tuscan RM, whilst I had a Subaru Rally Car RM (back in GT5) and I was the only one who could take that corner flatout without spinning, so I barely won.

Grand Valley Speedway:

Corner #1: Overture (because it opens a great lap, like a symphony)
Corner #9: Riverside Kink (great view of river)
Corner #10 Cliffside Bend (through the tunnel, out from a cliff, back into the cliff)

Sidenote: I actually live in an area called the "Grand Valley," because the River Grand flows through this valley area.

Trial Mountain:

Turns 1 & 2: McRae's Pride ("If in doubt, flat-out" is perfect here)


Deep Forest Raceway:

Turn 4: The Snip (doesn't everyone use that concrete patch?)

Reason: Everyone has a lot of courage in this corner... I've seen some nasty race starts here... Reminds me of F1 @ Spa, last year...

Just because it's hard to put 🤬 into a word that one can say aloud... I don't condone (intentional) profanity in race chat anymore than I do on GTP, because of the AUP etc.



In other words, let's think of something different... Oh No Curve?

The first link doesn't work for me... And this list shall become more comprehensive, including new-to-GT6 tracks and beyond. As to which forum we should put this one in, when GT7 is released, I'll leave that with you.

It's better. I've added it. But, I will say thanks for making it friendlier to everyone, including my 3 year old cousin upstairs. :)
 
💡 Let's add the corner names from those track maps to the current ones we're working on as a community, and then focus on Cape Ring, Matterhorn and Eiger Nordwand. :D

Cape Ring's environment is based off an area in the Japanese island of Kyushu, so I think it's worth reserving some names based on the area it's in. Here is a thread detailing the exact location of Cape Ring.

So I'm going to reserve some.

Corner Number: 22
Corner Name Proposal: Kaimondake
Reason/story: It's the name of the volcano off in the distance. The corner should give a good view of it. It's appearance is as if it peaks over the hill where the jump comes right after it, like you're about to go into the mouth of a volcano.

Circuit: SSR7
Layout (please specify if reverse): Both
Corner Number: 7 (I'm calling the dog-leg right, just before the tunnel, "#7")
Corner Name Proposal: Blackbird(o)
Reason: probably the toughest corner on the track, this turn is named after the famous Blackbird from "Wangan Midnight". Blackbird (a "Yellowbird" painted black) is one of the two fastest racers on the Wangan.

When taken at full speed, you have to be very careful with your braking, and finding the entry is key. If done correctly, exit speeds should approach 200mph in most 600pp and up street cars (on sports tires!!)

@Kobhalt, build your Yellowbird to over 700hp, slap on some sport softs, and try tackling this corner. I've seen people in Wangan lobbies pull off some crazy high speed powerslides around this bend in Yellowbirds, along with other high power RWDs...with amazing exit speed too, very impressive.

Corner Number: 8, 9, 10
Corner Name Proposal: Tollbooth
Reason: I've just always referred to this turn around as the Tollbooth, since there's a bunch if tollbooths there. I think quite a few others use this in online lobbies.

Corner Name Proposal: Zeto
Reason: a mirror of Blackbird, this corner is named after Blackbird's biggest Rival, Akuma Zeto (Devil Z).

Although similar to Blackbird, Zeto's braking zone is slightly more forgiving due to being straight(er). Again, finding the entry is key, along with using as much road as possible on exit. Speeds here should be slightly higher than at Blackbird.
 
Many real world corners are named after famous racing drivers. GT Academy is possibly the most amazing thing that Gran Turismo has accomplished to date. To me it seems appropriate that the GT Academy champions should be honored by having original track corners named after them. I propose using Grand Valley for this purpose. First of all, it has appeared in every full release of GT, and secondly, it has a lot of corners. I'll start with the following:

Circuit: Grand Valley Speedway
Layout: Full Track / Forward
Corner Number: 2 (First Hairpin / Currently called Stadium Bend in the OP)
Corner Name Proposal: Ordóñez
Reason/Story: This is the signature corner of Grand Valley, and Lucas Ordóñez is the first and most prominent of the GT Academy Champions. Mardenborough is close, but I have to give the signature corner to Ordóñez because he was first.

On a side note, I wish GT6 had an option to display corner names on the real world tracks in a similar fashion to the Nürburgring corner names that were displayed on the GT5 Special Events: AMG Driving Academy.
 
Deep Forest Forward
Turn 1: Greenwood hairpin. The name of the very similar real-world version of Deep Forest.
Turns 2 and 3: Forest Groove. It is the entrence to the forest section of the track.
 
Circuit: Apricot Hill
Layout: Normal
Corner Number: 1 and 2
Proposal: "The Sandbox"
Reason/Story: Many people cannot get the braking points correct and if you do this you will end up in the sand pits.
 
Circuit: SSR7
Layout: Forward
Corner Number: Don't know the number; the hairpin on the first turn-around.
Corner Name Proposal: Hanabi Hairpin
Reason/story: "Hanabi" is Japanese for "fireworks".

And I can't remember, what track was Jenkins on? We need to name a corner after Jenkins. Something good, like a chicane.

Reason: You can always see those 6 year olds plowing through them into the wall every time you're on an online race.

Corner Number: The last turn after the chicane
Corner Name: Front Wheel Killer
Reason: The unprepared FWD drivers would lose a lot of time here.

Reason : At this straight you have 2 crests - one is bigger and faster but second is blind and is easy to make a error.

Turn #2: GT Academy

Turn #4: Translator-San
Turns #5 & #6: Polyphony Complex
Turns #7 & #8: Kazunori Complex
Turn #9: Corner of Victory

I cannot say the reason for all of the turns, they're all GT themed. But the Polyphony and Kaz complex have this reason:
Just as these corners, you can hate them or like them, but one thing is sure, they are SLOOOW, but you must be patient in order to understand them and enjoy the most of them, then Victory for you is next.

Turn 5 at Grand Valley Speedway (the one before the hairpin), I call it "Oh 🤬". It's often said by drivers just before they crash into the wall for getting it wrong on the entry.

I'll also say the chicane at Apricot Hill is "The Happy chicane". If you are in an online race with penalties on and cut just a bit too much, your speed to the next corner is killed.

GT Wikia already has a track guide complete with corner names - we just haven't done up a track map with the names yet. Also, they're a bit outdated as a couple of them were named after the track's sponsors in GT4.

Name: ABar Chicane

I would call it this because I am competent at taking it in any car one could reasonably think of. In my opinion it's quite a satisfying chicane. And it hasn't been named yet.

Name: Highway to Heaven

"Higway to Heaven" is quite simply a pun based on the famous song "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. It's also a statement that as everyone knows, Special Stage R5 is a pretty nice track.
