Course Maker: how big is it and when can we expect it?

it was already in the 700's when Kaz finally started answering them but he skipped over it probably for multiple reasons.
IMO
1. PD is not going to put course editor into the game
or
2. they are working on it and he doesn't want to give anything away just yet

Skipped over it? All he did was start to answer the highest ranked question by explaining the process of how they do the sounds in GT. In doing so he indirectly answered the question about if we would get a person regularly in communication with the fans. The third question that is "answered" is due to the fact that the update included the camber fix so that question isn't even worth answering since it's moot now.
There was no skipping over anything.

I think what happened with the course maker is that they were too ambitious for the hardware. They were forced to make a decision shortly before launch to cut it for the time being and provide it at a later date as a trimmed down version of what they originally had intended it to be. The reason we are not getting information about what it is, what it's going to contain, how it will work or the level of detail that we will be able to dive into is because they do not want to give us false hope again. When it's done and works within the parameters of the system hardware they will release it.

This is the single biggest feature that I wanted when I pre-ordered the game over 12 months ago and I am quite frustrated that we haven't seen it now almost 7 months after release but it is what it is.

Wow.. so the course maker is still in Beta? Eek. Well we're definitely not getting this feature for GT6. I really wish PD would remove all advertising for GT6 that STILL has this listed as a feature of the game. That's just really bad form guys.. :irked:

Gamestop website as of today 27th June 2014:

  • Course Maker: Create and customize your own race circuit on world renowned locations spanning several tens of square kilometers
Where does it say this feature is not yet available in the game and is "up in the air".. 👎

I have it, it works...but I'm not giving it to you yet...

"Up in the air" is right up there with "It's technically possible", "soon" and "we might be working on it".

I mean really, a year after it's announced and he's still playing a beta and has no idea when it's coming to customers that already paid for it? Shameful.

This pretty much sums it up. PD and others should not announce things that don't exist as being part of a game period. If indeed it is still in beta then they have no integrity for the fact that they released the game with promised features that apparently according to this never existed but were mere ideas and pipe dreams.

As for the comment about entitlement. That's pretty funny, telling people who expect to get the product they PAID FOR they are "entitled" because they expect it. Truth is, this is all a bad sign if we start accepting this kind of shoddiness and in many aspects of life we have along with mediocrity, but because it's now "normal", no one expects any better and anyone who actually believes in getting a decent well made completed product is now a "whiner".

Bottom line is that Kaz and PD should have never announced these features if they weren't ready for release. PERIOD. Then, if it were released it'd be a nice surprise like so many of the later updates on GT5 were. Right noiw though, GT6 is like if you bought a new car and the interior wasn't done and in place of seats you had a couple of boxes. The car would drive fine and essentially would do what it were supposed to do, but the interior would be coming later on down the road. The defenders would tell you you weren't to expect it to be perfect and at least you can DRIVE it so shut up and stop complaining you entitled jerk. Maybe when you trade it in in a few years they'll have an interior added so what's the problem?:lol::lol:

That isn't a very detailed response. I mean, how big is the area in the beta version? What is it capable of?

Hopefully his response to us will be more substantial.

What a non-answer. Pathetic.
That simply can't be real, but if it is then damn.

Again, I don't see any relevance of knowing the state of the feature simply because whatever they say will be taken in a bad way (see above), if they say is in the works but no ETA then I don't see any point for such announcement (is also PR management, if they don't have a date then why publish such a thing in the first place), if they announce anything the expectations will be inflated as it usually happens, PD is finally realizing that they are screwing it up by making announcements and then let the hype inflate (though the FIA announcement shows the opposite) is hurting them badly, best example of this is how they release RBR just a day after it was shown to the media, same for the latest VGT cars and so on.

Expectations =/= entitlement, they are entitled to have the feature, other than that people are simply not entitled anything related to it, is like if BF4 fans demanded to know the status of the DLCs they paid for with the premium services, it simply doesn't happen, they have to deliver.

I'm basing this on the basis that this content is to be release before December which was the release date for GT6, if they don't release by that time everyone deserves to know what happened to it, otherwise they just have to release it before that date.

What, before December 2014? Why can we not know what is going on until then?
Now you know, is in Beta. Your response was "pathetic".

Not saying that you shouldn't know what's going on with the feature, they said they were going to release all of that before 1 year, after GT6 release.

I see no point in having teasers only to have a TBA date, if they have it ready with a TBR date, then so be it, if not then is just letting people know "hey is still in development, but we can't release it yet" and then get that same people go mad because is not being released at once.

My "pathetic" was in response to the "up in the air" comment.

Where did they say they were going to release everything within a year of GT6 release? I'd like to see that.

I don't care for teasers, I don't care to know every last detail of it, I simply want to know an approximate status beyond "I'm playing the beta" and "It's up in the air when you can play it". Betas can last for days, weeks, months or years and of course the latter tells us nothing, it's a pathetic answer when it's regarding something heavily promoted as a key feature of a game we paid for 7 months ago.

That is based on Famine's response to the "ask for a money refund" thread, right now I can't find the thread but I know that as much.

Also, how can you know or describe an approximated status for a beta? I would love to see that, they can't say categorically that is "98% complete", is not a progress bar, they have to iron out bugs, test the code and so on, it would be irresponsible to say "hey is 90% complete" and then have a game breaking bug that compromises such an announcement.

I develop websites for a living, they're very much prone to bugs but I always know roughly how close I am to being complete without them. I would much rather they say "As long as we hit no big hurdles we'll be finished in around 3 months" and after three months be told it's going to be a little while longer because of a bug than "it's up in the air".

In fact Rockstar did pretty much exactly that with online heists in GTA V. They said they would be ready for spring, then a few days ago said "sorry, they're taking a while longer". Updates on a product we paid for, that's what they should be giving us. This isn't some extra feature announced post release with no promises for inclusion.

I also did websites for a living, and designed java based apps. Web sites are different from applications, in websites (although it depends) you can have a series of misrouted links that you can fix by rewritten them, or a class that is not working properly, or a problem updating stuff to the main server.

An app has to work with classes and methods, if you go with limited memory like the PS3 then you have to recycle as much code as you can, so if a method is buggy it will screw up the app, if a class is not properly set it will screw up the app, so is not like a website where you have more space to work with and is not as compromising.

And imagine the massive backslash that PD would have gotten if they did that, I still sustain that is irresponsible to make such claims when they don't even know when they would be finished with it.

Worse than the backlash they get for saying nothing, or telling us it's "up in the air"? I don't see it.

Exactly, so why not at least give us some sort of idea how close it is. After being in development for this long they have to have an idea.
While I completely agree on that, I don't see such a thing making more difference that what we know now.

How is Kaz going to respond to these threads? Is going to make his own account and just post his reply or will the answers be sent to Jordan or...?
Kaz won't even see these threads...the moderators have threads separately for Kaz......why bore him with things that we th ordinary game paying public want...when he can read all about what the moderators want instead.......

Kaz says that Course Maker and B-Spec mods are almost happening! :D

If it's happening very soon.. I'll grab my popcorn and wait until this happens.. :dopey:

I can't wait to build a jump course, you know, the ones that have hills and your cars fly off them.. ;)

Did eurogamer make this up? It's hard to believe when they didn't actually quote it from Kaz, meanwhile kaz stated openly on reddit that he has no idea when it will be released...

If they announce the course maker in July and it surprisingly releases in the July update then Kaz is a master Troll.

There is no date, they say "imminent." This means that the update with course maker is close.

Normally, when something is in "beta", there are "only" bugs to fix.

Usually, bug fixing can take weeks or months, depending on the kind of bugs found.
