Custom Soundtracks in GT5 - What are you listening to?

Instrumentals.

Seriously. If you are listening to music with lyrics your concentration is going to take a hit. I think this may also be a reason some people don't listen to music in-game, because they don't know about or like the instrumental music that's out there. A simple drum beat and bass line, however, is really non-intrusive and will guide your focus to each and every apex.

Also, if you are listening to bands that switch styles a lot your going to risk losing the flow of things.

For these reasons, despite my vast music tastes, I stick to long DJ sets of dub techno/DnB/etc. It helps you arrive to the "zone" and makes sure you stay there for the remainder of the set. Unfortunately GT5 doesn't have a "resume track" like wipeout so my laptop is outputted to the same speakers as my ps3.

I listen to blues, blues rock and jazz. Here's a few bands I have on my PS3 HDD. Before I start, I will say I love the menu music in GT5. It's funk mixed with Jazz and for some reason I find it really enjoyable to listen to.

I have copied all of my rock/rock-ish music to my BGM folder. I've never liked the Gran Turismo series' music. And I use today's Top 40 musis for menu BGM music.

Its easy when you take all your driving seriously - even the driving that comes with its own background "tune"

am i not doing it right? i made a playlist, but when i got o "select personal BGM folder" it makes me select a specific MP3 - i can't just select a folder/playlist - and then it will only play that song the entire race.
