Finally a car that can keep up a little
EGvd.jpg

It's not that good at avoiding though. I foolishly did another race in this one to try to get a better lap (4:02 on the race above) but ran into a very dirty lobby. I ended up with a 2 sec penalty from the cloud of bumping cars in front, got bumped off twice but somehow the others did not get a penalty. Sometimes the penalty system works, usually it doesn't. Most of that room had red ratings at the end and all red dots. The winner (A+ driver) left with a red A. I lost 6 SR, same as last time for one penalty, back to 93. Based on this week, high SR.B, just below SR.A has the cleanest drivers. SR.S the worst.

Enough for today. So far 26 GR.3 cars raced with at least one clean race bonus each. 9 to go, ahead of schedule!

I’m still skeptical about it. Tried seeing if PD ever commented on this but I found nothing.
it is very obvious on Le Mans track. Try braking behind a car before any chicane but using your quali braking point... you will crash.
Try taking the fast curves from the Porsche curves to the Karting turn following another car... you will realize very fast you don't have the same grip as when you are leading.

3.57.7x with the F1
I also did a 3.58.1x with a .500 penalty so I know I can get to the low 57 and possiby to the 56.
Did easily a 3.58.8 with the M3, it brakes way better and passe every curve faster.

A few more races last night, first one was a bit of a disaster from 9th, really careful running close to several others through the chicanes, then made a mess of braking at mulsanne corner, hit a guy in an NSX, and got a deserved penalty. Then on lap 2, slid wide into the dirt before tetre rouge, and then when rejoining the track, snapped sideways and slid across the inside of the corner, getting another penalty in the process, and ended up 10th. Then a lonely race from 2nd to 2nd, about 8s of gap in front and behind. Next one started P4, with a McLaren in P3 who seemed to think sideways was the best way around every corner. Drafted him until he put himself in the gravel at Indianapolis and quit, then drove another lonely race to 3rd. Last race was fine until I misjudged my braking at the ford chicanes on lap 2 distracted by a ghost, and promptly hit the guy in front, fortunately he didn't lose a place and came 2nd, I ended up 5th.

Left the online stuff after that, did the 30 lap Maggiore mission race, since I got the wheel I've been going back and golding stuff I didn't manage to get on the pad first time around.

With 3:59:4 qualy time on Tuesday, I started 5/3/3 in my 3 races. With 3:57:9, I started 3/4/6/4 yesterday. Hmmm... (DR is about 23k).

Not a good evening. One disconnect at start, one 3 second penalty that I could have avoided by extremely defensive driving only: I went side by side into Indianapolis and was on the inside during the fast right-hander. I think I kept my line but the other guy touched me and went off track, so penalty for me. In another race, I messed up my braking in slip stream and took 2nd place out. Didn't even get a penalty for that even though it was clearly my fault.

Best race was the last one, with SR racing dropped to 86, I was in a lobby mixed from A+ to D. Finished 4th beating all the Bs and an A, gained 800 DR and reclaimed 3 SR.

@sturk0167 by far one of the best liveries I’ve seen.

Well, racing is racing and I gave too much time trying to get a top ten. I did learn a ton though. Turning off abs with the speedster is a game changer imo. 57 is possible with the track limits as they are for sure.
Braking straight with 0 bb the car stays much much more level. It gets insane grip. If you keep it level right! 4 tires together have a ton of stick. If you hit t1 in the racing line you can be pinned at 86mph for a couple seconds, it’s insane what’s possible with that combo and some proper input sequence. The hard part is doing that sequence in a the perfect line for a whole lap.
The line is suuuper critical, and it requires total commitment, but done right the car is so locked into your control, not easy to do but what a driving experience to play... I’ve hit a couple corners what I would call damn near perfect and its so neat to me, never liking a Porsche before...
If the car stays level under braking and you lift brakebegin turn in and then throttle in that sequence, and as you add steering angle blend in throttle...The other insane thing is if you get the line exactly right for a piece or two the line itself helps lock the car in further. That car being level probably may have unrealistic grip to someone whose an expert but it is super fun to me, can only do it sometimes decent,
Of all the tries I’ve done for all these hours, my favorite is just a 49.0. It’s not even a perfect lap but it’s decent, much better than any of my hamfisted faster laps...but that car staying settled throughout even taking a bit of curb is just nuts. I’m a slow learner, and not the most talented, but exploring that combo has been really neat, haven’t even raced. Dunno if I even will..
The thing that pisses me off is I had one lap and I was ready to crack a cold one after being ahead of my ghost, but the time came in over? I almost broke the tv! I found this guide helpful...

For someone who doesn't get to drive anywhere near as much as they'd want to I do find this forum extremely useful for improving lap times and driving in general.

Qualy for race B this week, only had time for a handful of laps on Monday in the Mustang which got me a complete fluke hot lap of 3:59.6ish with all others over 4m (around 4:01). Without the chat in this forum, I would've continued to bang my head against the wall with the 'tang, making the same mistakes over and over. But instead I followed the advice, yesterday switching to the super easy to drive Aston and learning the course properly rather than hanging on.

After about an hours session, switched back to the Mustang and improved to 3:58.2 but most importantly, now fairly consistent under 3:59. (Was actually on for a 3:57.3 in the last lap I did, but panicked in the final chicane, broke super early and cautiously so as not to ruin the lap, then because I'd thrown my rhythm off I ended up cutting the corner on the inside - what a berk! Turned off the PS4 in frustration, and unlikely to get back on now for a few days :indiff:)

Anyway, thanks all for being a great community and resource, keeps me sane. Wish I'd discovered it long ago.

Doing a couple of race B races today and it all looks pretty clean! Apart from the penalty’s people are getting because of the track limit. This GR3 race is allot more enjoyable then last weeks race C where it was olmost impossible to get a red SR rating at the end of the race so you had allot of punting and inpossible passing.👍

Race C Gr. 3 Monza, so the next Highspeed track. F1 party again? I'll stick to the Mustang, I guess, or I'll give the Lambo a go.

Depends which version of Monza it will be ? Chicane or no chicane ?
The F1 really does not deal well with curbs, fast curves and heavy breaking. I think it will be easy to pass the F1 at every braking and the finish line is quite early in the straight, so I'm not sure if the F1 will manage to catch up in the last straight if you pass it before

You posted that at 7:15 AM! There was a time I couldn't sleep and race in the middle of the night instead, then paid for it all day lol.

Today should be good to try out the bad brakes cars, cleanest day of the week, least risk of getting punted.

I didn’t even realize how early it was, I was standing in line at the grocery store lol. I’ve been off all this week so my internal clock is all messed up now.

Good to know!! So it’s a Big Mac kind of day then. :D

Here are the two most exciting races I had at the daily B la Sarthe!
The first race is from Monday, people were not using the McLaren then, I tried to get some good results with the Audi.
The second race is already full with McLarens so it has become a Cup race a bit!
Here is it!

This last lap was so intense, clean and amazing! We were fighting for 1st position neck on neck. At the end I got the victory but you need to see this part of the race! I wish there were allot more moments like this in GTS.

Where's everyone else? Looks like a new duel race mode. I'm surprised you both had such a gap. That's the funnest part for me on this track when you're racing side-by-side with someone who's respectable instead of trying to shove you off towards the barrier.

First the Volkswagen

I had a better result on the second attempt yet got draft bumped by a laggy GT-R. Just one single SR Down from a draft bump turns +4 SR (for clean race bonus) into a neutral rating. Lose 1 SR for missing out on a sector's SR up and thus the clean race bonus, and another 3 from a tap from behind. While one 3 sec penalty results in -6 SR for the race, thus -9 SR for the penalty. (At SR.S)

Races are fast and clean this morning. I can't keep up with this one. After passing the backfield the gap is already to big to draft to the front. My best lap was a 4:02 flat. The brakes aren't that good, acceleration isn't that great but it handles nicely through the Porsche and Corvette curves. Still a bit chilly out for an open top though.

First attempt in the Ford GT. Got punted by a dive bomb in the first high speed chicane, got SR Down for it... Then punted again at Indianapolis into the sand, to last. I got back and had a clean duel with a McLaren in lap 2, yet neutral SR again from that one SR Down. Ford GT is slower than the Mac but I did out manoever him through the Porsche curves.

Second attempt, no contact, but need to slow down a bit more for the fast right at Indianapolis. This car can't take it at full speed without 0.5 sec penalty. It was close but just over the imaginary line there. I still don't know where exactly the limit is. Despite losing time there and from the 0.5 sec, already a 4:01 lap time. The GT-R was ruling that race, 2 up front drafting each other with 3:57 laps in race. 3:54 qualy time (but could have been in the mac)

Oh well, the Ford GT will have to wait, I have to go. Third attempt, a diver made contact, neutral SR again. They are hard to avoid in this car. Why do you get SR Down for this.

Clean race bonus depends on the skill of others more than your own...

Man, no time for racing or reading here, the last day and a half. Come on this morning and theres like 4 pages to catch up on lol

Next weeks races look to be not bad. Curious what will be in the a race, we did the fugu there already so with the slight uptick in sport mode variety, i am hoping it will be something else, i have no real guesses though.

Happy fried day yall

I was stupid enough to enter more Race C's. In the second one i was having a great battle with a guy for P8, I was a touch faster but made an error and he got me on the last turn before pitting. We come out of the pits and we made gains on the field who pitted the lap earlier and got mixed up in fights so now we were p5 and P6. Another car manager to file in right between us as we exited and i passed him cleanly into T1 on the next lap and begin to pursue the man in 5th i was fighting with. Random guy proceeds to rear end me into T2 and I fall to 12th.

Ridiculous. Lost 3,000 points there this week, over it. Bring on Monza.

Cry havoc, and let slip the kittens of War! last night I did Race B and 3x'd the 🤬 out of it! Improved my qualy time with the Jag by a second, but didn't have time to cut the other 2s that was my optimum. First race started P7/16 on a grid with an A+ and 4 x DR/As in the first 5 places. The rest Ds except for a single C.

I managed to make it through the first few corners unscathed and maintaining position till I was Monza'd at Tertre Rouge and picked up a penalty as a result. By the time I served my penalty I dropped from P6 to P10 . Misjudged the braking distance of the Beetle in front of me at the second Mulsanne chicane, tapped him and he lost control. I slowed and pulled over to give him time to re-gain position but he must have been re-spawned and I dropped another couple of position with no sign of him so I pressed on. Was starting to get a rhythm when I was side by side with a GT-R coming into Porsche. He tapped me and I went wide and into the sand. It was unintentional so just one of those things. By the time I started the second lap I was down to P14 :nervous:.

Second crack at Tertre Rouge and trying to avoid cars in front sent me wide... scraping the ARMCO wide :scared:. Another penalty. I managed to gain another couple of positions before the penalty aria... didn't loose position because those two also had penalties to serve . Caught up to P11 and did a pretty good impression of the poop you see hanging outta the bum of a gold fish :sly:. He picked up a penalty and that's when things got irritating. The annoyance was generated by the stupid penalty flag floating in front of me so I couldn't see my braking points :banghead:. I zoomed past him in the final penalty zone but the distraction had me miss my braking for the chicane and after a lot of fishtailing I ended up re-spawned and the race timing out. I finished P12...guess others who passed me had penalties . Lost 9 SR and 208 DR.

I didn't intend to do a second race, but I was a bit hacked off with the way the first race went. I was hoping to apologise to the Beetle driver from the first race, but he wasn't on the grid. Started P8/15 on a grid with a DR/A on pole, 4 x Bs, 5 x Cs and the rest Ds.

First lap was pretty stable. gained and lost a position at Indianapolis/Arnarge and finished the first lap in P8.

Second lap I gained a position exiting Dunlop and managed to nail Tertre Rouge .... finally  ! I was stalking the Porsche in front and was right on his rear bumper. We were side by side entering the first chicane on Mulsanne, but I had to make a correction to avoid hitting him so he popped out ahead of me. We dragged down the strait to the second chicane and I got ahead of him well before the chicane. I managed to hold on and navigate the curves. Someone binned it at Corvette and another position gained. Crossed P5 :dopey:.

SR up 3, DR up 700 odd. Another day above DR 1 :D.

Race C Gr. 3 Monza, so the next Highspeed track. F1 party again? I'll stick to the Mustang, I guess, or I'll give the Lambo a go.

Based on my la Sarthe race last night, the GTR should do pretty well, too. Out brakes, and out handles the F1. Sticks to its tail nicely with a draft, too.

Tyre wear may change things a little bit, however.
