Goodwood is quite fun isn't it, it's a different kind of track and reminds me a bit of the original Silverstone. Now, imagine if we had say ... Group 5 Zakspeeds and BMW's to throw around this track, it would be IMMENSE!

I found the M4 quite nice but she ran out of fuel with half a lap left dammit. Dropped from p4 to p11 :banghead:

Yeah it really is fun .... and at times utterly frustrating! I was coasting around in 3rd position with 2 laps to go. No threat from anywhere, I put a wheel half an inch onto the grass and spin myself around dropping several positions.

To be fair I love it. Lap 1 is about survival and keeping it on the track, after that it's about not making a mistake. Just one small mistake can cost you a lot.

Having a blast with it. Still surprised about the lack of fuel saving others are doing.

Gearing is very important for Goodwood, as it's pretty fast all the way round. I find the Evo is just lacking power in the higher gears. Although I love its sharp steering, it is never going to be quick enough. The Alfa 4C has exquisite steering and is much quicker.

I've found the Ferrari to be the most stable and predictable, but my favourite ride so far is the Aston Vantage. The sound is great and you can really get the most out of the engine. Posting regular 1.17 laps in races.
I love the Vantage and am going to go back to it tonight. Been using the 86, which is great, but you're right- that V8 noise is glorious!

DIRTY driver in yesterday's Goodwood run I did. Ramming people off and then had this closing move to cost me P9 at the final chicane. Wasn't sure if it was on purpose so I watched the entire replay. Kamikaze driving!!!! Watch out.

Does anyone know where PD stands on Pot related liveries/decals? It’s legal here in Canada now, but it’s not everywhere, do they remove/ban things related to the subject?
PD wouldn't dream of playing moral arbiter, would they????? Perhaps some liveries would only be available to players in certain countries!

Qualifying with the Viper 0.6s faster than the trophy had me starting P5/19 on a mixed grid of DR/D and C with an S on pole.

Aaaaand off we go.. well they did... I had a crap launch . Car kinda bogged and by the time it got going I'd dropped from P5 to P10 before T2. Lap 1 was pretty soupy. I gained and lost P9 a few times but managed to keep it across the line.

Lap 2 was where things got mad. T1 and I was side by side with a fake6. I tapped the 'vette in front, and he hit it on the side. If the driver using the PSN Jack_Status is reading this thread.. sorry :O. The fake6 vears off then slices back into me as it comes back onto the track and side swipes me off and has me mowing the grass. I hit the wall and lurch back onto the track in time to see the fake6 claim another victim, and they both go off. He recovers quickly and I'm still fighting a bucking Viper. By the time I have it under control he passes me . He gets a little too close down the strait after T4 and I end up drifting half on and half off the track on the outside. Now I know this sounds like the fake6 was driving dirty, but I honestly believe he was just having a hard time recovering from his first contact. P9 for me and fending off an Evo I think. I buggered up the exit of the chicane and hit the armco, almost spinning 90deg to the track, and through me goes the Evo :banghead:.

I got past the Evo in the penalty zone (he had 3s in the sin bin ). Had a few minor excursions but held on to P9 till I was passed by a Lambo near the end of Lap 5. Dropped back to P11 after getting passed by a GT-R but got past him and the 'vette lap 7. I wasn't at full race pace because I had been short shifting and taking corners in a higher gear to save fuel. Lap 8 is when the fuel factor came into play. P7 as I drove past the pits. Next lap it was P4. Lap 10 I was closing in on P3... I think he must have been getting used to the tyres on the outlap. Lap 11 he started to pull away and I was finding the grip level had dropped off. Lap 12 the pink trophy in P3 moved up to P2 which left me behind a silver M4. I got a bit loose coming around the corner before the penalty zone and the D1 judges say "one more time!". I managed to get the car fully back on the track at the beginning of the penalty zone. The beemer goes off at St Marys in a Big Willow kinda way and I'm up into P3. I'd caught up to P2, who was sporting a 5s penalty, at the Lavant Strait but couldn't capitalise on it. The big snake was thirsty and I had to pit for fuel lap 13. No tyres.

Re-enterd P4 with an eager mac tailing me. I'm not sure if I cracked, lost concentration or tyre wear got me, but I had an off at Lavant and drifted the grass. Through he went.. and another car... and a back marker . Down to P6. Final lap and the McLaren runs out of fuel as soon as he clears the chicane. I pass before the finish line and grab P5!

I started P5 on the grid but given the start it was effectively P10 . P5 is better than a kick in the head . The Viper isn't as good on fuel and tyres as the trophy, and the handling isn't as sharp. No penalties. Blue SR. DR up From 3568 to 5868... welcome to DR/C, please enjoy your visit :p. Lets seen if it lasts longer than 5 days this time .

Had an interesting day today. Played with some other cars but for me the Hurry-Hurry is still my quickest ride.

I've so far managed to get it to 17.6xx is QTT environment. I think I can do better. If only I had the time/desire.

Did two 'day-time' races. My time was actually the quickest DR/D in both lobbies, just a shame I was matched with all the As, Bs and Cs. Started P13 and 14 respectively.

Well the first race was a garden party. I couldn't keep it on the black stuff for love nor money. I want to blame the game with the 'physics is different in the race' excuse, but if I'm honest its probably a case if applauding the game (shock horror!). Kept getting distracted and driving off the racing line. PD programmers have actually done a reasonable job simulated grip levels for dirty bits of track.

Fortunately the attrition rate was ridiculously high. Finished P14/14.

Race 2 I did a lot better. Time-wise and driving-wise if not position-wise. But this time no one bugged out, so I finished as I started, P14/20.

They were both very clean races. No problems other than getting wrong and wide at T1 and that left hander!

I got bored of being left behind by the bigger boys so went for a sojourn around DT. Took the Aston. Lovely ride. Popped a 1.43.1xx which I will drop with time. Did 1 race and it looked like I was about to be left behind there as well, this time by my own DR/D kin. Started P13. Kept it together better than some and finished P9. Meh.

DR has taken a bit of hit. But we're back up to SR99...

I've seen cars with pot leaves on them. I've also seen decals with porn website logos get deleted. I guess upload any decal you want, then put it on your car right away. Once it's on your car, they can't delete it from your custom livery.

Drunk driving isn't legal anywhere, but tons of cars have alcohol decals on them.

Been doing mostly Race A so far this week. Got my QT under 1:07 today (woo). Hasn't helped in races though. Everyone else is so fast. And consistent. It's been fun but hard with no room for error.

On a personal note a few days ago I lost a super close friend who was ill for a long time. I'm was all over the place emotionally. I'm very thankful to have GT in my daily routine. It's given me an escape and an excuse to focus on something else for awhile and helped me get through a few tough days.:)

Im sorry for the loss of your friend.

As you say GT Sport can be an escape and a place to not need to think about anything other than brake points, apexes and racing. It can be mentally relaxing in that way. :)

It’s true about drunk driving, but the sale of alcohol itself is most likely legal in those/most countries. I’m gonna make something up tonight and see if it gets banned, from my alt account, just in case.

@Pigems I've definitely seen the head of the Zig-Zag guy in the decal section before. Maybe since it doesn't say it? I've downloaded a few things I find funny/cool but have really no place on a race car. I put really really small decals on almost livery I do. Like easter eggs that no one cares about.

Goodwood isn't an easy track, so in my opinion, you're doing pretty good. If you can stay on the track at all times, you're already doing better than many of us.

Really sorry to hear that. :( We're here for you and always will be. :gtplanet:

Decided to take three trips around Goodwood this afternoon, the first Daily Races I've done in a long time. Set a new best qualifying time of 1:14.807 in the BMW, and picked up a varied set of results:
  • Race 1: Started 10th in a lobby that also happened to feature GT_Zocker1990 and Kie25 (no joke, see 3:36.30 onwards of Kie's stream). Fell to the tail end of the grid fairly early on, but a variety of incidents up ahead got me involved in some close battles throughout. Managed to pass and follow Kie25 a few times, occasionally being faster than him in the second half. Got promoted to 14th after Kie25 binned it coming out of Woodcote, then on the last lap pulled ahead of a slow-moving Megane at Lavant Straight to secure 13th.

  • Race 2: Qualified 7th, almost 8 tenths off Kie25's fastest time (yes, we met again during the aforementioned stream). Ran wide at the first corner, dropping me to the tail end once again, but recovered ground after several cars come together at St. Mary's bend. On Lap 2, I managed to pass two cars around the outside of Fordwater as they served their penalties, putting me back into the top 10. Again, got involved in some tense and frantic scraps, at one point challenging for 5th. At the end of Lap 5, the Mazda who passed me into Woodcote gets held up by a blue Porsche going through the chicane; I accidentally smash into the back of the Mazda, sending both cars careering onto the grass and gifting myself a 5 second penalty. By impulse, I ended up pitting just as I received the penalty, two laps earlier than planned, forcing me to take on a full fuel load and take extra care with the tyres. Even with this mistake and the penalty, I enjoyed a very strong run in the second half, fighting my way back up to 12th; the amount of fuel I saved was enough for me to up my pace and set purple sectors in the last few laps. Eventually crossed the line 11th, almost 45 seconds down on Kie25.

  • Race 3: Qualified 4th, this time getting a near-faultless start to hold on to my position on Lap 1. Picked up 2nd after capitalising on others' mistakes, and managed to resist a challenge from the black and gold Ferrari behind me until my stop. There was at least one person who appeared to attempt a no-stop strategy in the Citroen, managing to get as high as 2nd. On Lap 12, the leading Dutch driver makes a massive mistake at St. Mary's, wiping out an 8-second gap between him and I. After passing the Citroen, I set out to close the gap between myself and the leader, who proceeds to twice hit the wall coming out of the chicane. Eventually, I take the lead on Lap 14, only for the Dutch driver to regain it after pulling off a brilliant slip-streaming manoeuvre on me at Fordwater. Had a brief scare after touching the kerbs and nearly losing it out of Woodcote, which was enough to convince me that it wasn't worth throwing away 2nd place. And that's where I stayed...

Overall, despite the initial DR knocks, I had a lot of fun in these Daily Races, and like others got a lot of BTCC Thruxton vibes out of them. The Gr.4 BMW feels grippier and more enjoyable to drive under the current physics model, and figuring out the best racing lines through Goodwood has been an especially satisfying experience in itself. Hope to sample more Goodwood Daily Races when I get the chance.

I've noticed a few people singing the virtues of the 4C, and more power to them, but my experience has been that it's no where near as stable and "point and shoot" as it used to be. I was 2s faster with the trophy, and during the race too. I just did some laps with the Viper, because someone else said what a terrible car it was, and beat my trophy time. I guess it comes down to driving style I guess. I'm finding using the same basic style as I used at Brands seems to be working for me.

It's not a car for everyone and it will come down to driving style. I used to hate it back when it was favoured among aliens at some tracks. Gr.4 at Kyoto was when I began using it and after a while, it clicked and became my favourite. It's one of the most stable cars I've driven and one which I can push hard and know I'll be fine. Above all else, it's fun to drive. If I enjoy driving a particular car, sometimes that will result in quicker lap times.

I'm not sure why it changed for you, the recent physics patch didn't make a noticeable difference for me in the way it drives.

Fun fact: Rizla isn't actually the name, kinda. It's "Rizla+" because they were originally rice (riz, in French) paper and made by the Lacroix (croix = cross, in French) family - so they're Rizla+, pronounced Riz Lacroix.

I did not know this. I am so using this at parties. 👍

So I hit Race C today in my Hoppy liveried 86, did one horrible qualifying lap that started me 16/19, but by race start that was 15/17. Finger slipped on the brake and so got a false start penalty (felt pretty stupid). After that was mostly plain sailing, managed to avoid the ridiculous amount of drama ahead of me, got all the way to 4th with the people in front picking each other off before a wayward Huracan & 458 (2nd & 3rd) pairing took me out as they spun back to the track from the grass at St. Mary's with no way for me to avoid them - it was a miracle that no penalties were handed out. Finished the race 7th otherwise cleanly (apart from hitting the TT ahead on the chicane exit on the last lap as it braked completely unnecessarily, and I also miscalculated how much fuel I'd need so stayed in the pits too long, sacrificing a place or two). SR upgraded to high A, pretty happy. I love Goodwood, dunno why people hate it.

How was the fuel economy? I just tried it now and had to fuel save and stop with the bmw...

All three races were done on a one-stop strategy with considerable fuel-saving. Can't say for sure how economical the BMW was, as I was constantly adjusting fuel mixes as I went along. However, I was able to save about 1-2 laps worth in the first half by short-shifting and using leaner mixes while behind other cars.

Trying to get DTS qualy and race A qualy somewhat decent today. For DTS got 1:38.9 with R8 and 1:39.07x with Supra. Hate the bus stop part, so no races, yet again

Tested the Mini at suzuka, it felt just "how the hell Im going to get thru first two corners":lol:
Make it or brake it, those corners make the lap time for sure.
Qualy time for this litle doghouse: 1:06.631  So If I find just 0.35 sec somewhere, Im in top 10 at EMEA

Technically, ZigZag is classified as a Tobacco related product, it was always sold here as a cigarette rolling paper before pot became legal in Canada and Tobacco logos are definitely permitted by PD.

On a related note, Does anyone else find it strange that in a time period where(here in Canada anyways) cigarette companies will soon not even be allowed to put their logos on their own products, PD still allows them in the game where kids can potentially see them?
