Been doing some race C this week. It's just the right speed for me- a little slower than SF but a little faster than Super GT. The tire wear really makes it high-stakes. A couple spins and you're pitting no matter what. Spent one race ice-skating around after destroying my mediums and lost 6 positions- it was pretty hideous. I hope those lapping me got a good laugh watching me trying to keep it on the asphalt. Problem is I haven't quite figured out when the tires are "done"; my best estimate is about halfway red?

Yeah i have enjoyed it too, mostly because of all the downforce. TBH it would be better on a less crash inducing track like say Road America or 'Ring GP. I am down to a 1.25.7, I can maaaaybe go a touch faster but not much.

In races, I am starting medium as the first lap or two is chaos and it's about keeping clean and making up places by avoiding contact or errors. The 7th lap on softs is a bit sketchy. In saying that, I am not convinced it is the right call as I am SO MUCH FASTER on softs, like 2 seconds per lap.

The 458 was and still is on my list of "Avoid at all cost". I've tried it once, I lost count of how many times I've spun out on a span of 2 laps. I promptly parked it in the garage and have not touched it since. Mind you, I bought it cause I really like the way it looks and I've never been gifted one in the time I've been playing GTS :boggled:

You may be down shifting too quickly for it. Also, it often uses a gear higher than others in some corners. It's not piece of cake, but I do love it. It's a decent Suzuka car. I took a win in it at Interlagos last week. Mind you, I got lucky because I was passed on the last lap, but then that guy lost the rear a little and caught a short cut penalty.

Personally, I am liking the BoP changes. A lot of cars went back to a BoP level they had a few revs back, like the GR3 NSX and Lambo. I think it's leveled the playing field much more.

I took a win this morning!! Just missed out on fastest lap by 8/100ths of a second. The Huracan is MUCH better after this change. Then again, it is my favourite car.

Nice, should be a good battle if we get matched up this week. 👍

I'm really struggling to find time to race at the moment though. I've managed two short qualy sessions this week to try to get daily reward. The first got wiped in the reset, and that time you've shown was my very first lap of the second session! Meant to race last night, but "just one mission" on X-Com 2 turned into a six hour overnight marathon. I'm far too old to be doing that anymore, and am paying for it today :boggled:

Dammit! @Illum_Concept you've got me by a hair on Race A!

I am at 1.08.754 :D

700th in the world at the moment!!! Which is amazing for me. Would love to stay in the top 1,000 for the week! I reckon theres half a second in the chicane, but I am a pussy!!

Great stuff, love a bit of friendly competition!

For the chicane, we should ask our resident experts at catching air @Pigems @sturk0167 if there's any way to leap over it using braking cones as a launchpad.....

You are probably right cause I remember losing the back end while downshifting under breaking and at both corner entry and/or exit. I always thought I was a decent driver but I think my ego took a hit after driving the 458 . It has been a while since, maybe I can get a better handle on it now.

As for the Huracan, the last time I've driven it, it felt really slow but then again that was also months ago (same for the NSX).. how much of a BoP difference did they get from last night update?

Both cars lost weight. The Huracan feels so much less ponderous. Same for the Ferrari and McLaren. I haven't tried the NSX, but I expect the same.

Sorry about my video. Its fixed now

Basically I got screwed because P8 rammed P7, then P7 hit P6, P6 rammed me and went out. The game thinks I took him out smh

NSX have gained at Suzuka at least 1:59.4?? But we will see a bigger difference on layout like monza and even Brazil . I have my last week lap with R8 in Brazil and we lost alot on last section i see my gost going away going uphill lolll

Decided to work a bit on my deficient qual for a race. Resorted to loading up a top ten lap and chase the ghost. Nice feature, knocked off some time...
Entered up for a try and noticed a friend starting ahead of me...Nice...
This is a solid combo of car and track. Ended up with a podium. Watched a friend make a clean overtake and hold first.
Good combo, fun race.
If I enter another it will be a race without a doubt. Very fun.

I found this out very quickly. Tried to slam it down the gears like you can some other cars, and spun it. You really do need to space the downshifts a little more. Same with the NSX.

Right you are. I actually spent about half an hour yesterday, trying to launch over the left side of the chicane, using cones. It wasn't working at all. It seems to me that the only way to get a cone to launch your car in the air is to combine it with a curb. All the cone jumps I can recall, were when I hit one that was right behind a curb, or after I hit a bump in the grass. I can't get a cone by itself to give me that result. It's like the curb, first has to elevate your front end a little bit, then you get on top of the cone, and off you go. There's no curb on the left of the Goodwood chicane. 👎

@Groundfish it was a pleasure to share the track with you this morning. That was a great race. That was a fair example of the kind of racing i have been getting lately. Fast and clean, and competitive as hell.

Likewise for sure!
You ran the last bit perfect there. Straight in tight and held tight! Nice driving under that a plus pressure on final turns to hold first...
That’s the kind of racing that makes the game for me...

Thanks man. I feel like i have gotten a bit faster recently so i am trying to focus on my racecraft, like clean, but assertive passes and defensive lines that actually make sense so the guy behind knows where i am going.

I feel like most of the issues i see in the "higher level" A races are guys not using the radar or not having the racecraft to back up their speed. I feel like the intentionally dirty guys are actually very rare.

As i have worked to get faster i have also tried to be conscious of working on my ability to actually race better. Even not making passes some times so i could continue to work on riding right on someones ass to force a mistake without touching them....

Anyways, time to go to work....

So, I just spent $16,435,000 buying all the cars I didn't have, that were $1,000,000 or less (mostly VGTs). I had to do that to be ready for the random Car/Track/Tire lobby races that I'm about to start.

I'll be using a random number generator to pick the cars (1-271), tracks (1-80 (including all track variations)), and tires (1-12).
BoP will be on. Race times will be mid-day. Tuning prohibited. No tire wear/fuel consumption. Use any driving aids you want to.

*The game will not allow Gr.1, Gr.2, Gr.3, Gr.4, and some GR.X cars onto the dirt tracks.
*The game will not allow Dirt tires on asphalt tracks, or Comfort, Sport, or Racing tires on dirt tracks.
*Race length will be discretionary. There won't be any 1 lap races at Northern Isle, or 8 lap races at LeMans.

Update:
-1st race is 1961 Jaguar E-Type at Yamagiwa II with Comfort Soft tires. 👍
-2nd race: Huracan Gr.3 at Horse Thief Mile II with Racing Hards.
-3rd race: '92 NSX Type R at St Croix A with Racing Softs.
-4th race: 2000 Diablo at Suzuka East with Racing Hards.

X to accelerate, Square to brake... Those were the days...

I still roll that way.

A substantial BOP adjustment was included with the 1.40 update. The Viper Gr.3 finally got a power increase,81%>82% WOW :indiff:

I can't explain it, but I used to love the Viper for it's trail braking tail happiness. I used it to my advantage at tracks like Lake Maggiore II. But, I felt like after the 1.40 update that it lost that happiness. The Ford GT feels less like a pendulum, & it won a race for me. Maybe I need to give it some more laps & adapt to it.

I use the triggers for accelerate and brake. You just need to get used to slow movements rather than abrupt, On/Off, movements. That will help you trail brake and avoid lighting up the tires on exit.

Also, in that video of the Suzuka lap, there is A LOT of time to be gained by getting the turn 1, turn 2 combination right. If you miss the apex of turn two, it can cost you half a second or more.

Yeah, I've even seen the turn 1/2 scenario when qualifying. Carry great speed into 1, it proves to be too much & you overshoot 2. Brake too much through 1, & you just kill your lap time. I feel like more time practicing would help, but who has time for that these days?

It says it did. I didn’t try it myself tho

That Viper's tail happy nature coincides with my previous feeling that it didn't have enough front end grip, even at speeds equal to other cars in the same turn at the same track. A couple extra HP in that instance doesn't help me.

Strange days racing today at Suzuka. Hit the qualy laps first and was just slow. Struggled to get anywhere near previous times. Once i’d improved a little dipped toe into first race and was introduced to the shadow realm by an over zealous Lambo at the hairpin. I didn’t even have time to pack for that trip!
Second race, true to form, binned it x2. Sometimes once just isn’t enough. This dropped me to DR C.
After short break (needed at this point!!) things improved and this felt like a win tbh.

A 5th and I think 2 cheeky 3rd places lifted me back to DR B and I quit whilst head! Will be back at it tomorrow and hopefully will get some pace to go with new found consistency:bowdown:

Suzuka :confused::irked::mad::lol::ouch:

I hates it! I hates it! I hates it!

But I must go again.

Suzuka. It calls to me. It says, 'you can do better than that, try again.' And I give in, time after time. Like a Siren calling a sailor to his doom. Faster, cleaner, glory within sight just to be crushed to pieces in the whaling rocks.

It's like Medusa, you cut off one snake head and there's another one there to bite you.

Seriously though, if I spend any more time at the world famous Esses beach I'm gonna have to put up a deck chair and send you all a post card.

Race 1. P4 > P6. Straight on at turn 3. Recovery drive.

Race 2. P3 > P14... Binned it. Recovered. Binned it. Recovered. Binned it. Raced at the back with the guy who originally qualied P2 but had also binned it... Until he binned it again and quit.

Race 3. P2 > P2... P1 was the previous races P2 guy. We had a laugh. Did our very best not to kill each other on L1 and then I kinda just let him get away...

Glory is within reach. I can taste it, until she sees me coming and eats me for breakfast.

Aye aye aye Suzuka! Why you do this to me? She calls to me. We go again tomorrow. Onwards to destiny and our doom...

I know just how you feel... I think I do better than before, but then my rear wheel softly kiss the outside curb on t1. Spin... In two consecutive laps
