I'd like to train a driver to drive anything other than like me!

Come to think of it, it would be awesome to download AI drivers that performed like some of the best!! Or even share drivers that others have trained!! Kind of how we share liveries now!

Looks like i am gonna be home early tonight. Hopefully running race A all night long. If the wife lets me lol hope to see some of yous on the track

My girlfriend is in Europe for another week and we live separately anyway :D

I've also been happily divorced for over 13 years!

Ok, perhaps i need to rephrase that... and no of course i am not in charge lol

I hope she doesn't want to hang out in the basement with me all night, to much of a distraction so i don't usually race if she is in the room lol

Happily married for near 14 years and been together for over 21 years. High school sweethearts and all that. I won the lottery though with her. She likes muscle cars, drinks whiskey, smokes weed and listens to heavy metal, not to mention she doesn't care about my borderline gameing addiction (she got me my wheel as a gift) everyone should be so lucky.....

For some reason, I haven't really been in the mood to do some Daily Races, so I've been woking on this project that I've been thinking about for a while. I'm doing 10 laps in each car, and I almost fell asleep doing it with the Fiat 500 F.

@Dairyworker you are a lucky man!
I’m very grateful for mine(they sound like they could be sisters)

4th race back on the dailies in what seems like forever.

I know they changed the physics some but the Stangs are a lot more tail happy with BB 2 had to back it down to 1.

Edit for it has been way to long cause I forgot - is Front BB  .

Yeah, I am really going to have to work on learning the manual. I tried another couple of race C's. Even trying to slipstream it's trouble to hang on. My shifting is too erratic for a proper fuel save race at the moment. As for trying to let the barge passers by, I do watch the lines, and cars, defend somewhat but given the speed I let them pass and often indicate to tell them they can have the inside. Problem is I mainly still get a bump from behind as they draft up to pass quickly, the side slam as a 'thank you' on the way by or they wait until the last second to take the turn then either not turning in until they've tapped me to compromise my turn or going in fine beside me and then opening evrything wide and just pushing me off on exit as I try to drop in behind.
Some of it is still my racecraft, but hard to practice on it at this point with my only couple of races a week. Just need to get faster I know but frustrating to have a bad set of combos for me after last couple of weeks went well. Sadly I was way better and stable in the sardegna last week than this thing. Definitely something wrong with my driving there.

Not sure i am the best for tips but i apreciate the sentiment... i just love the road car racing

I have been running tcs off and brakes -2 gotta roll that throttle in slowly though and brakes can depend on driving style...

I was able to push for the world record for the first time this week. Currently sitting in 8th in the world. If I match my theoretical best, I'll be number 1, even if you take a tenth off the sector 2 split as it's in an awkward place.

That's the dream right there.

Speaking of which... anyone planning on going to Car Week? 💡

Highlight of the week for me.

No commentary but a quick race. I couldn't sustain the pace with the fuel consumption. Still managed a 20m30s while not having enough to make the end but i don't think i could do it without the the tow.

Edit - I've given up on the pig and gone horse :)

Did a no-stop C with the Audi and had a great time. Did the same with my beloved Lexus and ran out in the last ten seconds.... which didn't matter because I was mapped at 4 and 5 to make it and was dead last anyway. That R8 handles so much better since the patch. It was one of my favorites in past GT games, but I found all the MR miserable to drive. Now it's back, and it sounds glorious.

Daaamn, still not got that 1:19 time.... Tryed the advice I got from you guys, just cant put the lap together.
Opt. 1:19.7xx

Best lap 1:20.117. Game does not want me to go below that
Will try other car tomorrow, maybe its the audi thats slowing me down :D
Not many mistakes in this lap. But 1.2sec slower than top 1 at emea???

OK to be nit picky

T1 - You coast at apex - if you're not on the brakes or on the gas you are going slow. Try a wider entry
T5 - You start the corner in the middle of the track and not the left side making this tighter than it needs to be and giving yourself an early apex. You want late apex and hammer it in a straight line. Start wider.
T8 (corner before uphill) - massive coast; see T1
T11 (long off camber left) - you commit too early still which makes you have to get off gas twice

on a positive note, you did the last corner well :)

So T1 brake later? Its soooo easy to run wide.
T5, the right turning carousel? Last advice was take it tighter , tryed both, tight or late apex not really a big difference.
In D.Perrel vid, he takes it tight and coasts thru the carusel.
T8, if I try to go on throttle there, car loses traction and slides. Or if I brake on the right side of the track. No traction there.
T11, yep, made mistake there.
Will try that ferrari

Putting in some practice for the Maggiore Group 3 race next week.

1:58.058 in the Audi. Much better than the 1.59.x I did in Feb when we last at Maggiore for Group 3. I used the Lexus 17 then. I was avoiding the Audi back in Feb.

Thought I'd go back to the circuit experience (its the Alfa 4C) as I normally struggle at Maggiore. My previous time was 2:03.x (I did this time within the first couple of months of buying the game in 2017).

Tried it again today and put in 1:59.377.

I know the car physics has changed a bit since late 2017, but that's a 4 second improvement!

Good grief, you guys are looking much faster. Gave up and went for my voodoo race, BRANDS!! Good grief, a semi-solid qualy time and basic stable driving nets me some claw back in points. Once again I don't get it. I steuggle on tracks I know for a lack of raw speed or fuel strategy, but can nail something on a place like Brands Hatch, which I hate, because I lap every lap at about the same time and don't spin while clearing the back half at flat out pace. Except for one race where I blew it trying to avoid rear ending someone and spinning to the back I kept finishing top 5 due to everyone else screwing something up. Who knew? Might have to do more to recover the titanic binge of points I lost friday. Got a third of it back but losing 800 a race makes it har dto gain back at 300 a shot.
Almost hate to say I am winning points wise for myself at race B this week. Ugh.

Thanks!

Not necessarily brake later but brake better. Maybe try and brake a tad sooner but not as hard. Carry more speed in to the entry but with control.

For me the course has a unique feel which I really like and rewards fast entry. There are a few corners which are cambered and you can use that to carry speed.

It’s funny you have issue going wide in t1 where i worry about clipping the kerb on the apex and getting tramlined or bouncing off it.

T5 carousel is followed by a power zone. I mostly consider corners before a power zone wide entry late apex. Make that straight line (100% throttle) longer for a higher top speed. In your vid, you’ve had to modulate the throttle to stay on the track.
Your style may differ and so will everyone else’s but the line you have in the vid makes you modulate. Find a line that you can slam the throttle and know you won’t run wide.

T8 - I don’t understand what you mean by braking on the right side.
You need to trail brake this corner. It’s not an easy corner but can be forgiving. Just be wary of the bounce when you cut it that bit too much. Also remember that the corner becomes uphill so it means more stress on the outside wheel as the elevation changes. You need to adapt your steering angle during the cornering process.

Sorry if I sound long winded and philosophical. Hopefully I make some sense and actually provide insight that leads to that sub 20s time.

UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH What a terrible morning.

If I wasn't making my own mistakes, I was being bombarded by terrible drivers.

Everyday, I like Sardegna B a little more. This track is AWESOME for getting your brake balance right. When you get it right, you are immediately faster by a good margin. There's no in between. I've tried to use other tracks to get the BB right and they work, but you see the difference over a few laps. Here, it's right out of the box (so to speak).

This race totally makes me wish that there was longer endurance races.

On the point of other drivers, seriously, I don't understand what some people are thinking. They are starting with Q times something like 1-2 second slower than the front runners, they have a lower rank, and they are barely on the same pace as the front runners (who are conserving). The race has been happening all week, and the winners are either...

A) starting from the front, going very very fast, and stopping
or
B) starting from the front, going fast, and not stopping

What's the old saying about insanity? Doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result? How can people be trying to haphazardly barn storm through the pack, causing chaos along the way, slamming into people left, right, and center and expecting to finish ahead of the front runner. Don't get me wrong, I'm aggressive, but these cats are plain stupid! Doesn't anyone thing "Ok, I am going to pay attention and see what these supposedly higher ranking guys are doing to see if I can get better." Or do B drivers just think "Pfft, DR is B.S.! I'd destroy Lewis Hamilton if he were in here"?

The Ford GT guys are the worst.

I havent done a sport race in three days ,its just been lobby action. The last race c i did, i tried some things you guys said. 1st lap going good, all the cars in a train leaving space. Last turn of lap 1 a RS01 missiles thru the corner slamming me off track and into the wall. By the time i get going again (no reset) i am 8 seconds behind and he got maybe 3 seconds of penalty. I came last and drove by myself in last the whole race. the only saving grace was i came 8th because 7 ppl quit including the RS01.

Im tired of wasting time racing by myself because of getting hit off. Even in my best race c this week i was 2nd and 3rd was on my ass and trying to pass so i gave him the inside plus some space to pass me and he still bumps me off track as he goes by. Then the next car got close and did the same 🤬. We are the only 2 cars for like 15+ seconds and you cant even cleanly pass someone giving you the spot? Im 🤬 sick of it.

I did some practice laps for next week's race B, and it sure is a nice combo to drive when there's no other cars on the track. I don't know why I don't drive the Aston Martin Gr.3 more often. It's a pretty damn good car. Getting under 2 minutes is easy.
Maggiore GP feels like the perfect track for Gr.3 cars. I'm sure it will be less enjoyable when there are other cars knocking me around, and I probably won't win, but I'll be giving it a shot next week.

I didn't get to race as much as i hoped last night but i still managed to get some seat time. Was fairly uneventful except for the second race i did where someone decided to go complete wrecking ball and somehow cost me 13 sr points, 13!!!! I went from 99 to 86 because of accidents i could not have even hoped to avoid. Shame on you for that PD, shame....

I do hope to join @Pigems lobby tonight if it is happening

What is your quickest lap time in the Aston?

Tonight’s lobby is definitely still on! Hopefully more people come out tonight, it’s been small groups the past few weeks for the most part. :)

What time zone are you in? When I get back from vacation I will be looking to see what connection I got

I was thinking about that yesterday. A big problem is that it's a 6 1/2 minute race in a 20 minute window. 1 or 2 more laps to gain SR would be a big help. Like I was saying, my DR B account easily holds at 99 SR, while my DR A account is barely holding onto SR A (all contacts are my fault). :irked:

What is your quickest lap time in the Aston?
I only did 4 laps in the car, and the first one was a throw-away, because I realized by turn 2 that I needed to turn up my TCS.
I think the best was 1:59.3, but I beat it by over a second in the M3. I'm sure some people will do 1:54 - 1:55.
I think I'll start by doing some no-quali races, to see what the environment is like. If it's gonna be a smashfest, I'd rather start at the back than in the middle.

This is too good not to share as a complete in game replay. (It could just be me, but still)

So, I will set the stage.

The third place Audi guy (A B driver I believe) chimes in pre-race. "Non-stopping ****s. You are non-racing pr*cks" (that's the way it was written)

Now, as this forum will undoubtedly know, I am one of those aforementioned people. Now, whatevs, if a person wants to go balls to the wall, giv'r. To be fair, I have seen a few people do it properly. They've gone all out, stopped, and finished well, even taking a win here and there. I prefer to focus on the conservation. It suits me.:sly::sly:

I won't spoil the outcome.

Post race, I was also accused of being a wheel user, which I guess is a compliment (for those who don't know, I am a die hard DS user).

Also, a sweet treat my Canadian brethren, the person who set the fastest lap also finished WAAAY down the order and it was none other than our favourite "Canada's worst driver" in his Jack Daniels sponsored Nissan GTR.:lol::lol::lol:

I got a kick out of this race. I don't think I have derived more pleasure from a race in a long time.
