So, I will set the stage.

The third place Audi guy (A B driver I believe) chimes in pre-race. "Non-stopping ****s. You are non-racing pr*cks" (that's the way it was written)

Now, as this forum will undoubtedly know, I am one of those aforementioned people. Now, whatevs, if a person wants to go balls to the wall, giv'r. To be fair, I have seen a few people do it properly. They've gone all out, stopped, and finished well, even taking a win here and there. I prefer to focus on the conservation. It suits me.

I won't spoil the outcome.

Post race, I was also accused of being a wheel user, which I guess is a compliment (for those who don't know, I am a die hard DS user).

Also, a sweet treat my Canadian brethren, the person who set the fastest lap also finished WAAAY down the order and it was none other than our favourite "Canada's worst driver" in his Jack Daniels sponsored Nissan GTR.

I got a kick out of this race. I don't think I have derived more pleasure from a race in a long time.

I run on Atlantic time but the Lobby Races start at 9pm EST every Saturday. We do two runs of each of that weeks Daily Races and then a couple Bonus races afterwards if people want to.

You put the video as "he said I have no racecraft, I beg to differ" yet you didn't show any racecraft at all... he passed you easily and then did what he did, made his mistake and seemed to them race his own race. Racecraft would imply you were able to defend well against him, or overtake him with something clever.

One the other hand, if he doesn't like people no-stopping, then why do Race C. I don't like no-stoppers either, I think it basically drains all the excitement out of the racing, but it is what it is I guess.

On a no stop strategy burning extra fuel and tires in unnecessary battles is a waste of time, it’s best to just let them by quickly and then use their draft to save more fuel. Race craft can mean many things, not just outright speed or defending, it takes skill and patience to win a race by saving fuel and tires, I’d say it takes more skill/race craft to win that way actually because you’re beating guys while driving slower then they are. Overall race time is all that matters, not how you get there.

Either way, posting about it on the forum when he actually finished pretty well given the strategy of the guys around him & the ratings? Seems a waste of time.

Donno about that. Might not be exciting to watch, but the tension you get trying to go fast enough to be competitive but slow enough to make fuel and tyres last 'til the end is a proper thrill when you get it right.

I am not running race C often, I usually only have a short window of gaming so tend to go B.

The fact that you think I'm being a douchebag and somehow "name calling people" when thats literally what you just did, is so hypocritical it's not even funny,

There's a reason that most people when given the choice between a no-stop and one stop (When both are equally competitive) will choose the one stop... because it's not even a debate that it's more exciting.

The only guys like you are no stopping this race is because your lives clearly revolve around this game and so getting that precious win is more important than actually enjoying a great race.

Absolutely! It is very much a skill, and very much something that is a great advantage in a race. I have absolutely no problem with it being the best strategy in some weeks and the next best in other weeks, I just meant that everyone would enjoy the races more if there was more than one way to win.

Edit: I also think that race C should be more heavily biased towards conservation, race B is very biased towards speed
But if a one-stop or even two-stop was a possible strategy it would be more fun for all. I guess I think I would like the race to be longer so the tire wear and fuel depletion would be more realistic

The term is "RACE craft". It is not lap craft, not corner craft, not pass craft. Race craft is what you do in order to best your position in the race. Defending and overtaking is such a small part of it. Those actions have their time and place.

He gave away his strategy at the beginning, so why defend when we're on different strategies? Defending against someone on a different strategy wastes time. That's bad race craft. Also, by letting him past he was pushing the air for me. I got to follow, draft, and use less fuel. As for the pass, you missed the "clever/race craft" part of it. I was able to keep pace with him, which he did not expect. I could see him struggling to push the pace. His mistake came from having to push past his limits to build a gap.

Once he came back on track, I fired in a faster lap than his. That was completely intentional. I wanted him to push even harder, burn up his fuel faster. After that one fast lap, for which I sacrificed some fuel, I went back to conservation and waited. The trap was set.

There's a reason that, when naming the greatest races in auto-sport, almost all of them are tests of endurance.

Indy 500
24 Hours of LeMans
etc, etc

Even The GP of Monaco is test of endurance, or "race craft" if you will.

There aren't a whole lot of legends who made their name in sprint races.


EDIT - P.S. Telling everyone what your strategy is before the race is also bad race craft. You want people to try and figure it out during the race.

It is possible. It is faster if you have the skill to put in the proper pace.

The problem is that so many people make a mess of your laps, you lose a lot of time trying to break away. So, I would say, that unless you are starting in the first two row, go with a no stop.

I am inconsistent unfortunately and prone to mistakes, which was one of the reasons why I was timid to try the no stop and run with worn tires, Ima try it and see how it goes

Race B...Won 13 times...once second place and got bump out from others driver twice. Drive my very trusting and easy Audi TT. Time Q 1:30.020!! Still trying to get 1:29.xxx.
