16.1 on autopolis after ten mins practice I’ll take that as I’m not an expert at that track. Guy on pole had a 14.7 but couldn’t get into the 16’s in the race, any known corner cuts or anything? By lap 3 I was over 3 seconds ahead(started 2nd) then I threw it all away about 3 corners from the end pushing for a better lap like an idiot.

Feels like?? It is a series of never ending meaningless turns. It's basically Fuji, not a ton of difference. Absolute GARBAGE race track.

This. It's featureless and extremely boring, plus it looks like a generic race track made from the track editor from GT5. Tried it out for some laps and figured I'd be better off on the B event this week.

Having a hard time learning autopolis. It just seems like an endless series of meaningless turns. So far i have a best of 2.15.786 and i feel lost nearly the whole lap.....
All race tracks are a series of meaningless turns if you think about it. Autopolis is technical but reasonably and interestingly so. It flows those turns together really well. Overtaking is tough but it's also tough on the series of meaningless turns that is Nordschleife and people love racing there. Didn't take me long to get used to it but that's probably because I liked how it felt so much that I wanted to keep doing laps haha

I find it reminds me more of Catalunya then Fuji. :)

Off-camber corners, blind apexes, and atypical lines don’t make a track meaningless. It’s a complex, difficult circuit; and an amazing one at that. It’s been my favorite addition, personally.

Agreed those aspects are fine but there is pointlessness to the corners, they don't flow or blend into each other in a cohesive way, it's just a bunch of random corners ala Fuji or Yabbi Dabbi. Sector 1 is actually OK but from there it's a mess and again especially the last sector which is needlessly fiddly and mickey mouse.

Before I first drove Autopolis I had only watched people drive it on YouTube, and had a feeling of dread about it, as it looked exactly like is said above, a series of random corners that all look the same. However, when I actually drove it, I was surprised how quickly each corner became totally individual and distinct in my mind. I very quickly came to like it a lot, whereas I still hate Fuji. Just had a quick attempt at this week's Race A qualifying, and got within 1.5% of EMEA #1, so I'll be setting times on my main accounts to boost my K' Speed Score :)

Maggiore, Genesis, 2:00.8xx
Fighting to find the right gears in some corners + understeer in the first sector even with -5 BB.

Re 200.8

I would say simply that the best thing for a track like this is turning on the driving line aids.
All of them.
Return bb to stock. Turn on a bit of tcs.
First run a basically sound line, abs default. Brake max with wheels straight at 2 cones. Hold yellow driving line turning in before being off brake.
Use throttle after apex.
I think sometimes it’s easy to jump in and try to haul butt really fast, but if you wanna git gud first run the yellow line hitting apexes and then work on powering perfectly past apex.
Learn a good line
Learn good exits
Then work on entry plus exit
That alone we’ll applied without ever bothering about bb should be plenty to get you competitive and depending how good you are up to low A.
I made all the mistakes anymore I respect what the game wants.
Running that line comes first.

For me Maggiore is all about hitting those apex's... literally with all 4 wheels ;)

One of My favourites, actually. A track where every turn is interlocking with each other so if you get the flow right it's fantastic

Finally was stupid enough to go for a race on a Monday night. After clean racing last couple of days I wasn't ready for the gang assault I went through for 2 races in daily B. Didn't really cost me any DR but wiped out 25 SR. Wow! Love the fact that even when I indicated to let them by on the long straight if they had me they still gave me a side slam to confirm. Tried to ride out some SR gains i race C, but while I enkoy the SF car that race was even worse chaos. Stayed way in the back with no qually and so many people crashing I was still spending most of my time trying like hell to avoid the missiles. And I was't good at that. Oh well. So many people quit DR is still good but after being assaulted so much my SR is on life support. Time for a fuel mix 6 go slow attempt at being a snail.
And for strategy, no way to no stop race C, if even barely capable on tire management take softs and manage fuel slightly for jumps in the pits. I was driving slow and at the end of stints was running people down like crazy, also pitting I had run in FM 2 mostly and was holding 10-12% more fuel when I pitted on lap 7 as a minimum. Good for a solid gain

I think some people just suffer really badly from stress in races. In my Nations Cup race on Sat, the pole driver was terrible in the race, I was stuck behind them for a while and lost an astounding amount of time to the leader. They couldn't possibly have cheated to set the QT.

As I predicted, as soon as I'm off SR 99 the game has decided to only pair me with people with lower DR and SR or whatever so literally anything happening around me results in SR down and penalties. Only done one Race B today in the Supra, which was fine to drive in qualifying but in race with the same settings had completely different handling and grip, so driving it was a nightmare. Going through the twisty section at the start of lap 1, 3 cars at the front tangled up and none ghosted meaning the people behind them (but ahead of me) had to stop, so I had to also effectively stop because they were blocking the track. Everyone behind slowed up too except one guy (an Italian 4C), who slammed into me and 2 others, pushing us into the ones stopped in front. I was 100% the only one who got a penalty out of it of course. Then the Italian 4C behind me who was failing to brake anywhere and running wide on every corner (hence he fell behind me despite my penalties) was of course tapping me from behind going into every corner and handing me either an SR down or a penalty because he would then of course run wide on the grass. My SR was annihilated, down by a huge margin. Second race of the day, set an ok quali in the R8 for Race B. Went into the first corner of lap 1 and a pile up ensued in front of me.... and GT Sport "encountered an error" and crashed. Anyway my SR has magically raised itself to 67 (not where it was at the start of the day but above where it was after the prior race), so who knows what happened there. I fully expect though that no matter what I do this game will keep pairing me to be penalised for nothing every race until I'm all the way down in SR C. That's what happens every single time I get bumped down from SR 99. Very tired of it.
Until the fall, I had raised my DR past 17000, highest ever. Looks like that'll be gone pretty fast too.

I don't agree with the many people hating on Autopolis, I actually really like it, it's one of the few that I'm naturally decent at, and one of the few tracks I've actually managed to net a Sport Mode victory - it's trying to predict the unorthodox and bizarre lines and braking points of other drivers that make it hard in the dailies, different people do nonsensically wildly different things. I am a bit nervous of Race C this week though. The fuel and tyre strategising could be painful as, usually I'm quite good by going long on fuel but that might not help here...

Autopolis sectors 2 and 3 are way more fun with heavy Aero cars. I used to hate the track until SF came around.
Now, FUJI'S S3? Yeah. No thanks.

Inside wheels on the outside edge of the curbs usually the fastest line.

I feel like Autopolis is difficult just to be annoying. I think it's just me; I've never felt in sync with the track.

That is kinda what i mean. I didn't want to start any type of argument about it. Personal taste and all that. It really does feel like a few of the turns were just added on to make the track slower or more difficult just for the hell of it.

I did however, start to really enjoy the flow of most of the track by the time i was done my morning session. It will never be a track i enjoy enough to play with it on my own time, but i think i can come around to liking it enough. I also think it is probably a pretty fun track to actually race on(haven't done one yet), just rubbish for hot lapping. Overly technical for just for the sake of being technical.

I wasn´t reading the forum during the weekend but did some catch up today. I really like hot lapping and feel it is a great way to improve my driving skills. Managed to clock 1:30.731 (GTR) at Brands Hatch and 1:21.036 (Corvette) at Sardegna which putted me 947 and 1041 on America region. Pretty happy with it.
This week probably going for race B since Gr3 are my favourites and I´m not gonna have so much time to drive.

Autopolis. Is. Amazing.

But then I had a bit of a love affair there with the FFs and the Gr.4s in general a couple of months back so my opinion is very clouded to say the least.

I do remember echoing all these thoughts when it first arrived. I didn't get it at all - and I can imagine it feels very very long in anything slower than a Gr.4...

I won't be going there. I'm not even sure if I fancy Maggiore this week after all. I had a quick go around on Sunday evening as a practice and couldn't get under 2.01.xxx. And the SFs are really not my kinda ride. I might try a QTT for a laugh mind!

Livery Editor week.

Just did some 30min quali for Race B in the 458, consistently in the low to mid 1:58s, opt is a 1:57.1 but I'm not stringing laps the same, not sure on mid corner speeds and half/full Accel points :boggled:

SF19 in Fuji. How do you take the hairpin T6??? I think that I'm coming too hot for the brake, and ruin my line there.
I think that is the turn I lose most of the time.

best q time so far 1:22.109 BB -2

The dirt outside the driving line is soooo slippery.... :scared:

Finally home from work and getting some laps in, I started with Autopolis, and you know what? This track is alright with a car that actually turns. I think it was a One Make with the TT Cup last time and it wasn’t fun at all in that car, but with the 86 I’m enjoying this combo so far. :)

Down to a 13.6 after getting a feel for the combo, but there is so much more still left to find. Thanks for the loan of your Ghost @Mistah_MCA , much appreciated.

He’s the Blue car, the Red one was my BL at the time. :)

Looking at the replay I brake one Dunlop billboard earlier (or roughly where you go under the gantry) at the chicane to stop the car quicker and use more curb on the inside (pretty much all 4 tyres off). This car understeers quite a lot anyway so I would've thought a + BB would help get the car rotated into the slow corners better. It looks like the car is on the rev limiter a few times too, there might be some laptime in shifting up earlier.

Other than the engine sound, car you find any differences, whatsoever between the Toyota and the Subaru?

The Badges? Other than that they are identical as far as I ca tell, true sister cars. :)

SNAIL even allowed both cars to be used for their Race A TT last time they were paired together for a combo because they performed the same, even though they technically only do One Make races.

My theory in their differences is that the BRZ has a bit more handling, while the 86 has a bit more speed. Some more research is needed. 💡
Yup. Well, now I gotta know. An analysis must be done. I thought of a way you can do it. Go to Special Stage Route X and compare the first sector times. It might be best to use the A/T, to rule out any shifting discrepancies. I can give it a try when I get home from work, tonight. 👍
