I wouldn't know how to do that, but I do have wire cutters. Yes, I've reduced everything to minimums, but there's a big dead zone in the center, that is unbearable for me. My cars are literally incapable of driving in a straight line. The closest I can get to straight is light swerving, which would of course, be unusable in Sport Mode.

Was your G29 new or used?
Send that dude back if it was new.
My dead spot is not that bad, maybe just a small input to keep the cars straight.

It was new. I got it around Christmas time for half price. I liked using the pedals, but the steering is way better on my controller.

Do you use stick, d-pad, or motion?
Every time I go back to the DS4 I look like a bigger fool. :lol:
Hopefully someone on here can help ya out and get it fixed.

I use left stick for steering. I got help from someone in another thread, that showed me a video of how to unplug the ffb motors. I'll be giving that a try. 👍 I first wondered if I could use the controller for steering, while also using pedals for gas/brake. I believe that won't be possible.

I had you a bit early lap but you were all over me in the chicane. That was a race!

Yeah i remember that race too and it's because the merc can ride the chicane HARD, land and get on the gas, a lot of other cars need that bit of time to settle and you lose momentum or have to take a less ideal line.

Can you plug the wheel in and use the pedals only while steering with the controller?

Or, return it/sell it and get a T300 GT Edition(it’s the same as a regular T300 wheel but it comes with the T3PA pedal upgrade) if/when they go on sale, I got mine for less than the price of a G29 just after Xmas, it has Zero dead zone. :)


Edit: I just found this on Google, so it can be turned off. He mentions loading another game that allows it to be turned off in game, do you have any other racing games that you could load first, turn it off, then remove it and load GT Sport?

T300 = no dead zone
Really nice ffb imo.
Nev, I’m the guy in the purple vette who put up the fourth place picture in game under what’s new
Also the vet and merc are good on the bit at Suzuka before the front straight.

You're killing me bud! You have a great set up. Just need to give it time. DS4 is for livery editing only!
 
@Pigems, @Groundfish I definitely wouldn't mind buying another wheel if I knew it was gonna work well. Good to know there are some that don't have that problem.

@Oshawa-Joe, Although the wheel I have is the only one I've ever used, I really do believe it's defective.

If you’re considering another wheel, I highly recommend the T300 GT Edition, I absolutely love my wheel. Plus, if I ever want too, I can get a new rim for it, like The Ferrari Elcantara one or one of the other ones. The TM Shifter is pretty sweet too. :)

Ok. If disabling the ffb doesn't help, I'll buy one.

I am on D-pad and the Merc has been my go to car for months now.

it's not as powerful as you first think, what helps it is at TC1 or 2 it doesn't bog down like a lo tof other cars and it also handles bumps REALLY well so doesn't lose traction over curbs.

In race B, the porsche is hands down quicker through the corners but on exit it slips compared to the Merc which just bites and runs.

The issue being in the 911 is that it is hard to overtake someone in an AMG / supra (assuming similar driving skill). You become dependent on other peoples mistakes. It becomes a very passive race and any susceptible to pressure from behind.

And regarding gear, while I'm a geek and spend far more money than I need to, there is nothing wrong with a properly functioning G29.

In fact, Da_killas-dre ran about 1.06.1xx on last weeks Daily A , with ABS off using a G29.

I started playing with ABS off and ran Daily A this week on my OJ account with it off.
 
I love my g29 that i got at xmas time. I honestly don't notice the "horible" deadzone people talk about, took me a while, but within a day i was running straightlines down the appropriate areas. Felt more like getting used to a wheel than the wheel having a weakness per se
 
Race C Quali time down a tenth. 1:21.866. Optimal is 21.544.

I can get a 21.6xx. I think. I just need to nail the last two turns. That last sector is usually where I'm really strong. Just not in the SF car. Weird.

Likewise. I notice the deadzone. But it's just the feedback. Still perfectly controllable.

I know a wheel is much slower to react to input compared to the left stick. It's very difficult to catch and correct a slide. I struggled for a few weeks after being on a ds4 for 6 months and that's with a few years of prior experience with a wheel. Maybe that's what you are perceiving as a dead zone.

If you can record your wheel movement side to side with the tv screen in view, we should be able to see if all is as should be. Dont need any fancy driving, just go left and right a few times going down a straight as if you are warming up tires for a race lol.

My understanding is that if the steering sensor wheel on the G29 fails, the wheel will be off centre and the car becomes wobbly for lack of better term. That's what happened on my 2nd brand new G27 anyways.

Just checked and the G29 now uses a Hall Sensor. That's high end dude! Even the CSL Elite uses a crappy optical sensor for steering. That's one of the issues with the CSL Elite wheel.

Been doing Race C, starting anywhere from 3rd to 6th and I'm yet to be in the top 15 after the first corner! Maybe shouldn't have bothered with qualifying!
 
Tried race C earlier today. 95% of the people in my lobby were DR B, with one A, one C, and then me (A+). Kinda forgot that FIA races are today, which is likely why there's no A/S, A+/S, S/S players in this lobby.

Qualified pole. First turn, I go somewhat wide and pray I don't get punted to Pluto. I get bumped halfway into the turn, and again near the end of the turn. Luckily, I wasn't sent away, so I was able to carefully accelerate and continue as usual. Fell into 3rd place.

I was right behind 2nd place for one lap, until he backs off and lets me pass.

I was slowly catching up to 1st place, so I started doing some fuel saving. When I was within 0.8 seconds behind 1st place, I started playing with fuel settings some more.

On pit lap, 1st place messes up on the last turn. I pass him, and head into the pit. The fuel saving paid off, and left the pits well ahead of 2nd place, and off I went to a comfortable win.

I'd like to thank the power of love, friendship, and anime for helping me get this win. :lol:
 
So I had my daily race debut yesterday in the 86/BRZ Race A and I ended up finishing last in both attempts. (I also finished last in Race B, a Gr.3 car because I went for the Z4, the only liveried Gr.3 I had)
 
Tried an evening Race B. Got knockout. No surprise there. Just happy to not get a penalty for it. :lol:

But the physics don't make any sense. :confused:

That was ridiculous. Did that dude at least get a penalty?

I had a couple of races in B tonight. I raced against @golfer07840 in one race. We had a good battle in the last two laps but managed to get passed him on the final turn. Good race.

I didn't see a penalty. But it wasn't intentional.

In my opinion the other car should have ghosted. My momentum after the collision is just silly.

No matter how hard I try, I can not get under 2:00.393 for Race B . I think I've reached my limit.

I'll see what I can come up with, maybe before I start cracking beers open. After too many, the sharpness on my tv screen tends to fade.
