So I had my daily race debut yesterday in the 86/BRZ Race A and I ended up finishing last in both attempts. (I also finished last in Race B, a Gr.3 car because I went for the Z4, the only liveried Gr.3 I had)
Welcome :) . (Not the "easiest" week to start :D .)

No matter how hard I try, I can not get under 2:00.393 for Race B . I think I've reached my limit.
In the 2`s, you are well off mate. Load ghosts and try to catch up i say. Watch the top 10 laps.

Upload some footage of your best lap and we'll offer some advice on where you can improve. People around here are pretty good at that.

Super GT and David Perel have done some decent lap guides too so look them up on YouTube. They point out braking markers and lines to follow.

I'd like to extend my prayers and thoughts to @GOTMAXPOWER and his SR for getting abused in my late night race C. Always nice to see a recognisable name, with your 1.20 alien lap in hand. I said hello and didn't think i'd see you. T1 and the start continue to be kind to me - from back in 10th I hugged the kerb and came out in 7th or 6th.

I could tell lap 1 hadn't gone your way because come lap 2 I was in your slipstream. Think I tapped your bumper early in the lap but thankfully it didn't have a big effect. Pure lack of skill, as I wanted to sit in your slipstream and sip fuel, but could only stick with you for a couple of seconds.

I got attacked by cars 7-13 and battling them became the race. We lost a couple of the pack to penalties but the extra fuel saving let me stay out an extra lap - that and some overtaking on the last stint gave me 9th in the end.

Post lobby I saw your SR - the red B, and you said you had ten seconds of revenge penalties.

You finished 2nd. Nuts.

If you’re considering another wheel, I highly recommend the T300 GT Edition, I absolutely love my wheel. Plus, if I ever want too, I can get a new rim for it, like The Ferrari Elcantara one or one of the other ones. The TM Shifter is pretty sweet too. :)

Bit late to this one, but I'll second this. Just got a T300 (£200 bargain for UK peoples btw) after being on pad for years. Also bought a Playseat foldable thing.

Fantastic bits of kit, both.

Immediate improvement in lap times for me...

Just been looking at Race C Quali times on Kudos.

These aliens are mental. Fuji is an incredibly strong track for me. I always punch well above me weight. Currently 457th in EMEA, with 1:21.866.

I have no idea how some manage a sub 1:20 lap. Well, I can see how they did it. I just have no chance in hell of replicating it.

Took a beating in Race B last night, had the lead in one race and spun out, 4s penalty in another for some harmless door to door contact, and bumped off track in the other. Need to get the esses figured out to improve my lap time.

I didn't recognise your name last night, I should probably explain myself!

This was in the lower S SR race, the race before I had been taken out of 2nd on the first corner and lost a few SR points racing through the midfield, when the Spanish guy in the Senna livery drove through me at turn 1 I was a little bit grumpy so used the boost to get alongside and nudge him off at the first left hander, the 5 second penalty was deserved for that and because it was the first lap it put me right down the pack.

The second penalty was from somebody else's mistake, I was making a normal overtake when the car behind tried going 3 wide by braking crazy late into T1. He hit both of us and went off with the other car (poor guy got taken out and a 3s pen!), apparently it was all my fault so that was another 5 seconds. I'm glad Chris won that race, he has always been a nice clean player (not dirty like me) and defended well on the last lap.

I'll have to keep an eye out for you now, it's always nice to meet another GTPlanet'er on the game

Yes I have noticed the 911 cant touch the Vette on the straights as long as I get a decent exit. The AMG however just comes charging at me every time. The Vette "feels" like the fastest GR3 car in a straight line to me but the AMG has the power advantage.

I tried the Vette in qualifying. I felt like I was driving a boat. The 911 I like, it's very fast in and out of the turns. However, it the straights, has a hard time fending off the Supra and AMG.

The AMG has some super grip for this track, it's a fantastic choice. The Supra? I don't know, I feel like I'm on ice skates on that thing. Either I race great (Couple of top 5 finishes) or I get tapped and it spins out for no reason.

@O604

That was ridiculous. Did that dude at least get a penalty?

I had a couple of races in B tonight. I raced against @golfer07840 in one race. We had a good battle in the last two laps but managed to get passed him on the final turn. Good race.

That was a fantastic race. I slid a touch on that final turn, which gave you the inside. I nodded and said "nice" as you passed me. It was a fun and CLEAN race due to the absence of a certain area ... (I may have mentioned it in the lobby pre-race  )

I'm glad you brought up the harmless door to door contact and the penalty. What the loving hell is up with the penalty system for Race B this week??

I am driving, on the line and I am being tapped from behind and yet *I* am the one getting penalized? One race, I was literally side swiped and run off the track on turn 1 and the person who did the side swiping did NOT get a penalty. YET, I did :confused:

The Supra is stiff, so you really have to get that suspension working under braking into turning in or it’s ice rink.
The vette is far easier imo.
With both the best way I found was turning the wheel in very smoothly and progressively to apex and unwinding slowly and smoothly out.
The Supra reminds me of f1500 a bit in that you really have to get that suspension working to plant the thing.
The Chevy drives a bit softer, and what will make it feel boat like is too much steering angle applied too quickly sometimes.
Then the wheels just scrub.
Like you can see my error in my Supra qual lap I shared in game.
Watch cockpit view what I do with the wheel, I turn too quickly overload front tires and have to scrub speed holding steering angle instead of unwinding out properly and getting more speed

Edit the final turn specifically

Was tired but ran a few races last night anyway. Generally uneventful but i did see @sturk0167 in my last one though. A pleasure as always sir, even if we didn't get to race eachother proper.

Four races this morning, and each one was worse than the previous. The riff raff is out in full force today it seems. No hard punts, but lots, and i mean lots, of pushing and shoving through every turn and even down the straights. It was so bad that after the fourth i had a discussion about it with two guys i knew who had been in the races with me. We all agreed we were done for the day and it seemed particularly bad for some reason...

Maybe it will be better later..... lol

I hear you. During our race, I kept getting side swiped and bump drafted. The main reason why I dropped to A at the end.

In another race, I was racing on the inside of someone. He knew I was there but wasn’t careful as we turned. He ran into me then slammed the wall. I got a 3 sec penalty. I was like you.... lol

Was that A? I’m gonna try and get on in a bit. Haven’t done B or C. Thinking of giving C some loving.

In gr3 I just have to say even in the s rooms 97 percent of the people I see in 911 cant get the car working.
So many wipeouts.
Yes, in good hands it’s a weapon.
Same with r8.
That’s what I have seen since I’ve driven sport mode.

Yeah, I definitely need more practice to run properly at race A. I just hopped in that race last night when I got home from work, without warming up. It was pretty disastrous. I was really out of my element, as I had never approached turn 1 in 3rd gear, from a grid start. I think I downshifted twice, like I was used to in qualifying, and ended up up in the sand, in dfl. I finished 6th, I think. Do you leave it in third until you pass turn 1 on lap 1, or briefly go up to 4th, because my tach was yelling at me.

I hate the Supra. I just hate it. I think I am fastest with it with braking set to 0, but I can't say for sure. This short shifting to make it go fast also seems like black magic to me because, when I think I've got, I realize I don't. I mean, my lap is good, but it's also difficult for me to repeat, which I dislike.

As for the 911, I run mine with brake balance set to +2. I know it sounds wonky, but it settles it down nice.

For the Audi -1. It will feel a little like it has too much under steer, but that's when you have to ease off the brakes.

I think that last point the biggest issue people have in general. They lay on the brakes hard and then expect the car to hold a line into a corner. You have to ease off the brake as you approach the apex in order to avoid running wide.

For me right now, McLaren F1 with BB -1 suits me. I may try the Beetle next. My time is 2:00.8

Supra for me is fastestat one blue or two on cockpit rev light
Cockpit rev lights work really good

7k rpm is the sweet spot for the supra, but it seems ok to go all the way up to the redline instead of losing time shifting when approaching some corners. It seems like the best car in Gr3, it’s also borderline OP for fuel saving races imo.

Stuck in the 56s with the NSX and -5 BB which I am really not happy with. I feel like I can hit the 55s with it but it’s a little bit sketchy around this track, especially when changing directions. I haven’t used the 911 in over a year, I may give that a shot.

I doubt I could do 54s, that’s just insane pace. I would have to take quite a few shortcuts and have a lot of luck.

I have been just holding it in third. But trying not to hit the limiter, i trued going to fourth a couple times but it seems as soon as you do you need to go back down. That corner is a tricky son of a gun, especially first lap

My a race qual with about six laps in felt clean at what 2:16.5 or something
Oh no I suck again lol

I think online sport mode there needs to be a mode for world time trial
and sport mode should have a fixed time period you get to qual each race.
It’s an online thing but unlimited time for qual should be a separate time trial mode or something imo.

First time post for me - long time lurker since the days of the original GT Academy... Thought I had to sign up eventually since my name was mentioned!!

Not sure if I am as clean as that @GOTMAXPOWER , only clean against people who are clean with me like yourself!!

As I said in the lobby after the race, you would have won that race by a long shot if you didn't have either one of those penalties, but I'll take the win! Just glad I saved enough fuel to boost out of the last corner all the way to the line..

You were goneskis mate, I started p10 and never saw you even when i briefly inherited 2nd by staying out.

No idea where the 4 seconds I'm losing are. Credit to you boys for your crazy pace.

This actually seems to be one of my better races (not sure why) and I'm being fairly competitive as long as I don't get punted in lap 1.. I wouldn't be competitive with @GOTMAXPOWER in a straight battle though..

The lap times are a bit misleading with Super Formula cars, I save enough boost to use it for a full lap in the second stint just to try for fastest lap which is worth a second). BB as far back as you can and putting the controller sensitivity up really helps with turn in with these cars too.

Welcome to the site, it's always nice to race against somebody who doesn't try to kill you.

More Race A hot lapping.
Another 10 or so laps and down to 2:13.633. Shaved about .200 from yesterday.
Diminishing returns!!

I tried a couple of races on my other account (also B/S).
One win from pole (2:14.2xx) in a low ranked lobby - couple of B/S, but mostly D/S. I had SR down as I kinda blocked on the first corner of lap one. I'm really out of practice with regard to racing.
Second race - started 5th. Ended 6th with clean race bonus. Only saw one penalty ahead of me. Everyone racing cleaner than I expected with some good close battles too. Pole in this 2nd race was mid-1:12s and the driver was B/S rated!

I'm not sure I've got a 1:12 lap in me.

The Toyota 86 has come up frequently (for normal cars) for daily races, so it might be one I try out at a number of tracks to get a better feel for it.
