I’m wondering something: is Nordschleife potentially overrated? On one hand, I do like how complex it is, but on the other, there’s nowhere to pass when actually racing, regardless of what class is featured. There’s maybe that last straight, and nowhere else. The GP layout can feel a bit more fun in this regard, with what feels like a larger portion of the track being potential passing areas compared to the Nordschleife.

The track was taken out of racing circuits (or at least F1 iirc) for this reason. It's a narrow and bumpy track, which led to many tragic incidents in the past.

It's a great historic track and a lot of fun for its layout and complexity. It's best used for going at it for solo times.

I'm not a fan of the GP. It's over-engineered imo. The whole track is slanted and has come really annoying corners. It breaks up your flow quite a bit. But it is better for passing at least.

Sardegna C is a blast once you fall into the rythm, the track seems to keep pushing you for more and more.

But the racing there... Christ, it is hopeless.

So Nurburgring GP will have to do this week: tried, and hated, the Scirocco, which seems to point me towards the TT because I simply refuse to jump into the Megane bandwagon

And how disgusting is that first sector... the old 90's layout was so much better.

And being 23 km long, the track makes rapid response to incidents something next to impossible.

Covering the whole track with cameras was a factor also back in the day.

Yes, massively. It's pointless and boring as hell on videogames. James May is right.

My Swift is ready.

View attachment 837604 Decided to reach out to my feminine side for the Swift...

Whaaaaat, No Barbie decal? ;)

Edit: Also, does that thing lay Tinder Eggs? Sorry, I couldn’t help myself on that one.

05?
I knew I had to look deeper in those dang ff junkers!
Argh.
Very very tough to beat a time you set anywhere with the tt @Pigems.
Damn ff gr4!

I see you’ve already cracked into the 5’s, Nice work man!!

I got the TT cup around the GP down to a 2:05.3 while chasing @Mistah_MCA but I couldn’t catch him, I had Nordy on the brain and couldn’t shake it. Great Lap man!! Hopefully I can catch you tomorrow, or at least get a little closer.

Then is was off to the Nord, I used to hate this track but now I love it, especially in slow cars!! :D First lap was a rough 9:49 with a few offs and a 5s penalty to clear at the end(you lose 12/13 race seconds from a 5er BTW). 2nd Lap I got it down to 2:09.4 and then I started to push a bit more and started making errors. It’s took a few restarts and there is still a bunch of mistakes in there but I managed a 2:06.6 while chasing @KONTRAone Most excellent lap man!
I’m stuck at 9:25. I’m toggling in and out of 3rd and 4th gear constantly, it must be where I’m losing so much time. It’s either that or I’m not using the track limits to my advantage. I’m drifting a lot when I push the upper limits of speed.

Be easy with your inputs, no quick darts of the wheel or quick on/off’s of the throttle, just be smooth with them. This combo is all about carrying momentum so try use as little brake as possible and be on the gas, even if it’s only a little bit as much as you possibly can. Keep working at it, you’ll get there!

Haha Yeah man, me and that car tend to get along well, I spent a LOT of time using it when I first started playing. I have no doubts you can beat that time!! You’ve been getting faster, you can do it!!

Did a few laps at Sardegna in the Lambo, first time I’ve tried that car in a long time. Got it down to a 52.8 but that last turn is just roll the dice and hope to get lucky lol. I couldn’t imagine trying to race here with these cars.

I tried out the other three, for me less than a couple laps each. I wasn’t planning on spending over an hour, but I do like the track,
and although just, I got the five # on the board (by a couple thousandths)
I’m like that’s it!
Sometimes you just wanna see a number.
“hooray two thousandths faster! “ it’s all in the head...
Thanks for the encouragement!

@svenjurgens I really like the way you did the swift up.

It was clean, until the wrong South American showed up. Bumped me twice to get me with 2 wheels in the grass, both times I get SR Down, second time he succeeded to mess up my car enough that I scraped the wall and got a 5 sec wall penalty as well.... That's 11 sec lost at the penalty zone, complete 🤬. I'm glad I'm not racing from the back on this combo as usually I meet one or two dirty drivers per race. The penalty system is such a joke, crowding cars off road is a serious problem at the Nord yet the game gives the SR Down to the car getting nudged half off...

It's only Monday, it would be nice if tomorrow it was a N200 car, then N300 and so forth

Down to starting 7th now, falling off the pace.

That Sardegna c is fun!
53.1 seemed good. I’m good on qual.
I think Sardegna c has potential for many sr down dr loss. If I race I’ll do a Nurb. Best chance for me this week is gp for sure.
Hey Sturk, I think you may have already named a new account for me if I do it....Still very divided about it...

Race C was horrible for me. I usually don’t race Nürburgring. I got to get used to that track.

Race A was fine. Just rusty on that track.

Race B went better than expected. I messed up bad in sector 2 up hill and slammed into the wall...10 secs penalty yikes lol. I started 5th to 4th back down to 7th after that screw up.

Best result tonight

Passing takes so long, one per 2 laps is enough lol. I did get to 4th when starting 7th, 3 whole cars passed in 19 minutes!

At least at the front more than half knows how to share the road. There are still some that can't hold a line even at this snail's pace. Perhaps they are those people that always swerve and can't seem to stay in one lane out in the real world... The Nordschleife is on average 8 meters wide, down to 6 meters in some places. A Suzuki swift measures 1.74 meters in width. 3 wide along the whole track should easily be possible!

What’s the recommendation for ABS: off/weak or default? Does it really help, aside from preventing lock up?
I see a lot of playbacks where it’s set to default (the indicator is white).

I’m consistently 1-2 seconds off the pace and looking for a setting or technique that has a wide reaching effect on my times on the whole. I’ve finally conquered my TCS addiction. And use no assists. Default is my ABS setting.

i put it on weak today and was faster in Race B than with default even though everything ive read told me i should use default. i kind of preferred weak when i used controller too.

I’ll give the weak setting a shot for B myself. That’s a good place to test. It’s a fast lap plus the brake points are heavy in two places for potential lockup. Thanks man!

***tried the weak ABS setting, works great. Slight time reduction. A little later braking. I also switched to ABS off....instant lockup. Totally unrealistic IMO.

when i went back to abs default for a race it felt like i couldn't stop in time for turn 1 even though i was still braking at 100m. it wasnt enough to go off track but it was enough to miss the apex.

I've been getting extremely lucky and dodging all the carnage at Sardegna, gone from 69 SR to 80 in three races and driving past ghosted out crashed cars gained me a bunch of DR too. Just drive with mid-pack pace and keep your nose clean and you'll profit.

Do it. Stress-free racing. SR downs don't faze you. You can do the races you enjoy, but may be not good at, without sitting out because of the fear of losing DR. Best thing I've done in this stupid game. 👍

just did Race A and it is quite fun. i wish it was 4 laps though. I enjoy nurb gp even though it seems like alot of people arent a fan.

EDIT:
ending the night with this awesome last lap finish. chased this guy for 3 laps and finally got him coming out of the chicane for the win on the last lap. one of the best finishes i've ever had.

i think i will be sticking to Race A this week. 2 Race A's have been cleaner and more fun than any of my like 10 Race B attempts.

Race A... Oh come on Grid Start is so damn stupid. Because definitely will all kinds of crash, bump, among others. Cars are too close at start. Its should be rolling start that give chance to escape the BS. I had best time Q 1st by 1.6 sec from 2nd. I got rammed as I tried to turn 1st turn. No way to get clean race. So stupid to installed Grid Start instead Rolling Start. Who ever installed the Grid Start is completely MORON! Screw them.....!

First corner...
Grid start: you get rammed with 150 km/h...
Rolling start: you get rammed with 260 km/h...

Feel like I've done A a million times, still good to see peeps have not learnt to take that first corner slow on the first lap instead of making it a smash up derby

Race B - SR killer for sure.... but I gave up worrying about SR/DR so not fazed, tricky couple of corners and some challenging passing

Race C - have not got their yet.

Qually for Race B in the Lambo - 52.990. 21 laps.

After about 100 laps testing this combination over the weekend, I can deffo say the car is a lot more loose than on the time trial.

Edit: a good mixture of cars in the top 10 EMEA region. Top time is in the McLaren F1. 2nd in the Nissan GT-R.

Is it me or does the Suzuki really struggle on lap 2 of the ring? I still beat my first lap time, but the margin drops about 10 seconds through the timing points on lap 2. Flat out in 4th through I think Kesselchen (the long straights before the Karussell) the car seems to have no power, but seems fine on lap 1?

You didn’t accidentally change your fuel map did you? If anything the car should be slightly faster on lap two because it has less fuel in the tank. :)

No, but I did start experimenting with that to see if that would fix it. I was thinking why else put fuel consumption and tire wear in for a 2 lap race? Normally it’s because you won’t cross the line for the GT3 cars around the ‘ring without a fuel strategy, but it doesn’t appear to change much. Maybe I’m expecting too much from such a regular car, but I’d swear it loses power...

I find Race B is not too bad for dropping SR, if you race steady and wait for mistakes you can make up quite a few places fairly easily.
