Everyone said the track limits were really flexible at the RBR, but I didn't know they were this liberal!

(I'm the Corvette :( )

It's always risky dealing with drivers that have a B SR; you just don't know what they'll do sometimes. Some of the lines they take are comedic and the moves are usually quite aggressive. That really puts me on edge and it's highly irritating to deal with such behaviours. I get bullied and I tend to fight back to ensure that I can get away, which doesn't always go down well. I like the Red Bull Ring but it's hard to remain composed when you've got people racing unfairly. My best result was third but I threw away a win... twice. I should just wait for my opportunities instead of forcing the issue,

Man... I've been B B for most of the time and it's great fun in terms of the quality of the racing. Dropped to B C and after some messed up penalties that were not my fault I fell down to C C, and the C E. It was a joke, constant dive bombs over and over again. I started second 3 times in a row and got punted off 3 times in a row. It was ridiculous. Some of the times I made mistakes too, but man this was ridiculous. My journey from B B to C E started with people spinning out in front of me just prior to a turn and me hitting them while they're sideways giving me a 3 or 5 second penalty. Sigh.

Sounds like you're just a dirty racer and can't accept that fact.

Was a good idea until the last lap. Tyres turn to dust after T1.

Same for this one. Ran in 2nd, behind a swerving OyVeyron for a couple laps. Got passed for 3rd, by the previous winning Vantage. On Lap 6, tyres were on the strands and 4th place Genesis was catching at an alarming rate. I just let it go by.

I've tried using the radar... and I just pay no attention to it!! I've got pretty good awareness of what's around me (use bumper cam with a nice big mirror at the top :D) and always give space if someone is alongside even if I can't see them but whenever I switch the radar on I never look at it anyway!
It took me two or three weeks of driving with radar on before I started noticing it. Once the brain adapted to the availability of the extra information it's become invaluable, despite me not using it with the alacrity of Pigems

That being said, I've always a fancied a ute as well. Holden/Vauxhall used to do a Calibra based one. Someone had an import around where I live. Highly impractical actually, but looked and sounded very cool. Do they still make them @Invisigoth ?
Stopped production in '17, no longer available even as a demonstrator. Plenty around second hand, but you'll be paying for the sport kit optioned ones.

On a different note, I think the Mustang Gr4 might be a bit of a sleeper in Race C. I’ve consistently been seeing Huracans, F-Types, SLS AMGs, and Vantages in the top 5 of almost every race I’ve done this week. I’ve seen one or two Mustangs, but not very many. I just did a race (B/B, started second, quali time was a 2:09.619) with the Mustang though, and it felt really really good. I out pulled the pole sitting SLS to T1 and held the inside line, took the lead, and then basically cruised to the easiest win I’ve had all week.
Both Gr.3 & Gr.4 Mustangs are beasts for starting / low speed acceleration. When I'm driving one I often gain a position off the start, but you've got to get that first gear change timed exactly right.

Ok, despite the Holden jokes I could make for @The_Tullster after JW's epic blunder(again) in the supercars I shall remin silent. Watched my drivers of all makes do stupid stuff too. They normally don't repeat it though.

Then again I have a sort of ethical dilemma tonight. I have spent the last 2 nights working like hell to bring my SR back to the realm of the living, letting people past, refusing to pass if risky, that sort of thing. Any type of risk means it is a no go. Dropped to 51 and have only managed to get it back to 64. I am pretty much embarrassed by the low score but can't figure out how it stays so low. 2 taps on passes at RBR meant a possible 7 points was only 2 somehow, got tapped by guy coming out of penalty zone and then once when I slid coming out of final turn while guy behind me nailed it, no penalty, just barely a tap in both cases.

I sort of take my SR as a pride point that I can race hard but keep it clean, although I do make mistakes and have to own up to them as happened when I missed my braking point tonight and let 3 cars by to get the guy I blasted back in front of me. But while trying to race ultra clean to get my SR back up while limiting damage to my DR I have somehow ended up knocking on the door of 20k DR. When I started and got an idea of how it all worked I figured I could max out about 15k and would maybe spike up to 18 on a combo that suited me. Somehow I am leaving that behind without driving like a thug, but my SR is a tragedy this week.

All that said, is it worth it to tank my DR to get my SR back up again, or should I do what I have done in the past and work my combos to push it back up organically while keeping the racing hard but clean? My low SR is killing me at the moment but this weeks races have made it near impossible for me to dig out of the holes the bad races caused.

On a plus note had a fantastic 3 lap battle on tokyo with a veyron and totally clean, no taps, no barges nothing. I lost, but it was good knowing we could go side by side into the nor al passing turns safely but know neither was stupid enough to pass in the middle sections.

Like you, I try to keep it clean and I'm kind of annoyed my SR is down to 88. However, I'd not deliberately tank my DR to get SR up, I'd rather work on racing clean and fast and go for both at the same time.

With respect to your "unexpected" DR score, practice improves us. From a subjective view point you may not think you're getting better, but regular driving with and against slightly better drivers will improve your driving (as long as you're paying attention) without you even realising it. Well done on 20K+ :D

As for Holden history, I've not really been paying attention and just pulled some rough figures out of the air. I expected to be wrong and expected someone to pull me up on it. ;)

Edit: By the way, Holden VF Ute at the 'ring:

I did it. I managed it. Got two more races in at the Ring Of Fire before it all changed to next week! Pretty content today. Haven't managed to drop my QT any lower, but Sunday lunch time doesn't seem to mind this time around.

Race 1. P8 > P6. I sat in P5 matching P3+4 for pace after L2 and stayed there until the final lap where P4 got it wrong at T3 very unexpectedly. I took advantage but inexcusably went too wide at T4 and picked up a penalty no one ever has before:banghead: . Hey ho.

Race 2. P7 > P4 Made a borderline move at T3 on the final lap... I'll watch the replay at some point and self critique. Basically I had overspeed on P5 down the inside after he'd served a penalty. I'd pretty much made the move, was ahead on the inside, but braked too conservatively. I think he probably thought I'd aborted and went to turn in, but I'd let off to roll into the apex to compensate. Thankfully he'd already committed to taking a wider line as if I was gonna be there, so there wasn't any contact. But it was closer and less clean than I'd have liked. It also didn't help that P4 went big on the distraction play by spinning out and ghosting in front of us... Buuuttt I had the CRB, no penalties and a blue SR, whilst those concerned around me all had red dots next to their names. So I don't feel too guilty.

Where to sacrifice the DR next week do we think?

Do we know whether or not anyone at PD is familiar with Bump Drafting, and/or trolling? Or are these concepts completely foreign to them?

It's probably why we don't have Blue moon bay anymore. The penalty system can't cope with bump drafting. Whenever it was on my SR went down into the gutter since you always receive SR Down as the car in front. I even got disqualified a couple times for too many contacts, and it became a 'tactic' to dq the leader by bump drafting until he got thrown out of the race

Back to Tokyo on Sunday. The A/S crowd sure doesn't believe in no contact racing. All the little bumps, just enough to push you aside and give you SR Down, but soft enough not to go into a wall or over the line at the hairpin. PD really needs to reconsider who gets the SR Down in contact or always give both cars SR Down. It's a no contact sport according to the etiquette videos, so why allow contact... Bumping from behind or from the inside usually gets approved by the penalty system.

Ready to start qualifying for the Lemans race. It's often frustrating, but a good challenge. 👍

Come to Tokyo, qualifying in boring!

I did a custom race this morning, mimicking the settings for the C race at Lemans. Nothing has really changed, since the last one. Tires are still good the whole way, and there's no need to stop for fuel.

No fuel saving at all? Can the Mazda 787B actually be competitive, or is the Porsche 926C still the way to go for GR.C?
So many cars are out when it's another no stop fuel saving race :/

I would like to trailer hitch my car to the back of @Sven Jurgens all next week at LeMans.

I'm probably on race B most of the time, LeMans for a little break from too much fun.

You'll still need to save fuel if you're not driving the Toyota, but it doesn't take much, and will still be a lot quicker that going flat-out and stopping, I think.

So true.

I had a couple of races today at Red Bull Ring and coming out of Turn 1 leading another car I was getting an SR Down simply for holding my line out of the corner.

I'll admit that their Mercedes is probably quicker out of the corners than the Evo I was driving, but it's not as though I drove across thier race line to block them.

You guys loving the wagons, I wanted a Magnum SRT8 when the 2008 nose was produced, but the car was gone after that year. :boggled:

I've beeen thinking about getting it. But, there's one thing that will break the deal for me...
I absolutely despise having to use triggers for gas and brake. Can the controller settings be changed so I can use right stick?

I heard that you can do some controller reconfiguring in Wreckfest, but I didn't bother. I got used to using the triggers as throttle/brake from Burnout Paradise.

There are no words to describe this.

I've seen it before on YouTube videos. But not with trucks.

Also got a question for you guys, is there anywhere that I can go to see lap times of only guys that use a DS4? Would love to know how I stack up in comparison.

It might be interesting, but I've stopped worrying about it. I try to compare myself to most of the members here. For example, I set a 1:31.4 at RBR in a Mustang earlier in the week. There are guys in the lobbys & here with high 1:29's/low 1:30s. I got a couple of hot laps this morning with the Viper running 1:30.991 & then 1:30.901. I just enjoy besting my own times & hoping for some good starting positions. It hasn't happens this week, but got a few pole positions last week at Sardegna.

I'll suck at Races B and C as per usual. Which leaves what I can only imaginr will be the FWDfestival at Autopolis again... Yes... I'll have part decent results... But I won't enjoy it...

I have my Wreckfest week planned with this week's upcoming GTS schedule.

This week has not been kind. Never touching the Thunderdome again.

Hasn't been too kind to me, but I have videos coming later today to demonstrate what I mean. Gone from SR B to E in 3 races! Ran 3 more this morning with a new livery & I am back up to C. Whew!

I want to share this moment with you all. This was the 20 second penalty I talked about earlier this week.
