Finishing up the week, I had some good races in last week's Daily A at Autopolis. 3 wins in the RCZ Gr.4, a third place finish and a win in the Scirocco Gr.4. Plus it was good practice to get used to the Peugeot for the Manufacturers!

We'll see how this week goes. Sitting at D-S for now, I'll attempt to try every race. Race C is the most likely to raise my rankings reliably. :dopey:

I did one Race A. Started 2nd with a 1:05.5. Pole was sliding all over the place at turn one, made contact with me, went off the track and gave me a 3 second penalty. Dropped to 8th after being in the Penalty Zone but made up some positions to 6th. Picked up at least 5 - 6 SR downs from being bumped. SR down to A from S. Kind of a disaster. Finished 6th.

Sadly, zero skill involved in launching the S2000 as it doesn't have the poke to break traction.

That's a shame. I was looking forward to my backseat viewing of the wreckfest.

Gone 5TH on EMEA leaderboard at Suzuka!!! 2:31.593, last sector was a bit ropey but kind of yo-yo'd on the delta to the previous lap.

Course this means that being in the 31's probably won't mean a great deal by tonight but I have a nice screenshot with my name well in the top 10 on a Monday afternoon so I'm very happy!!

Off for a lie down now

And I was happy with a top 1,000 at Autopolis last week. Well done!

Looks like Race B for the most part for me this week. I love Brands Hatch. Just wish it was GR3, this is 2 weeks in a row without GR 3 racing.

Race A looks interesting. Race C? Sorry, it's just too long of a track for these lower N class cars, IMO. Doing 1 lap around the Nordschleife is 1 thing, but multiple laps around Suzuka? Eh. I like the track, but prefer to race it with race cars.

Decided not to have a lie down and go in a race... oh the lobby had gone up a notch! Had GT Zocker on pole with my once in a lifetime lap putting me 2nd, I fully expected to get swallowed up by the A+ guys around me, another two of which are current top 20 EMEA times.

What I didn't expect was to stay within 1s of Zocker and pull away a little from the rest. He was close to binning it a couple of times and I was always close enough to take advantage of a mistake. On lap 4 he ran wide at the first corner and I did indeed take advantage, into the lead, then I completely went to pieces!! suddenly messing up corners everywhere and he got straight back onto my tail. He had a run on me towards 130R on L5, I went centre of the track and he went to the inside. While he wasn't quite alongside (I could really have done with being able to use the radar - it's just me, I can't use it!) I wasn't going to slam into a top driver on that corner so gave room, ran a little wide and he went into the lead.

I was much less nervous behind and the mistakes disappeared as suddenly as they began! I finished 2nd with the fastest lap on the last lap (I'd held it all race from L2 anyway), 0.7s behind GT Zocker. Considering the quality of the opponent who won, and the speed of the rest of the field, that goes down as my best performance on the game

Now definitely time for a lie down!

*Edited as I've now seen he was streaming the race! He made his mistake on L5 and I messed up 130R big time on L6, basically gave him the whole track! May as well have just pulled over and waved him through! Super glad I didn't wipe him out though, could have got abuse from a load of angry YouTube viewers!!

De ja vu. Looking at the top 10 in Asia it's dominated by trophys. All the trophys in my race finished behind me, and I finished P10/14 . I was in the M4, and the grid was mostly DR/Bs. I was expecting more DR/Ds for race B, that's where they usually hang out.
I started with Cayman and was all over the place for 4 laps. Guy behind me had a nightmare following me and then i tried Trophy and i was like lol this is planted like a glue.

Did about 10 laps of practice then tried a Race A.

QT 1:06.02. Started 2nd. Finished 2nd. Clean Bonus. And fastest lap. <- Thank you Mondays. Only my 10th fastest lap.

Thought the car handled OK. Obviously heavy. Interesting car -

Contemporary road tests found the hefty Mitsubishi was slower accelerating than its chief rivals 300ZX, RX-7, Supra and Corvette, not so much in 0-60 mph or quarter mile because of its superior all-wheel traction, but obvious in 0-100 mph or above. A pump of 20 horsepower and upgrade to Getrag 6-speed gearbox in 1993 helped it to narrow the gap, but it could never shrug off the bulky feel. Despite of excellent roadholding and all-weather drivability, the GTO or 3000GT VR-4 was criticized for bags of understeer and lack of agility, blamed to its immense weight and 58:42 weight distribution. Its complication also hampered the directness of controls. The cable-operated gearshift felt loose. The torque that went through its front wheels numbed its steering. The 4-wheel-drive and full-time 4-wheel-steering systems contributed nothing to agility but acted as an extra layer of insulation between the man and machine, something Nissan Skyline GT-R avoided cleverly.

I'm with you until Degna 2. What BB are you using? Seems to swing the tail about under braking whatever I've used!

Got it neutral. Started off this morning using 2F, thought that was more stable for turn 1 and Spoon then did a race and it had reset it to neutral. I didn't notice until a few laps in! But my pace was good and the car wasn't misbehaving so just kept it at that since

top man! i watched that stream, but only his first race which he won by a country mile. Switched it off and got on with work after that - so i'll have to go back and catch up 👍

Some of the weaving on Suzuka is hilarious. Must confess, I've operated a three strikes rule when it comes blocking like that and after that I'm making a "forceful" pass. Won my first one off 15th on the grid, aided by a monster bottler lamely spinning off from the lead on T2 on the last lap. 13SR and 104,000 cr for the win helps a bunch, too.

Well if I'm ever in the same race I'll happily follow you around! I have literally 0.01s improvement as optimum and that lap, all the stars aligned for me! Basically equalled all my record sectors but knocked 0.3s off sector 3 (which was the one I knew I was losing time in).

Anything low 31s is looking like it'll be very good though so if you get towards that it's an awesome effort

Great results in the dailies today!

Up to C-S (DR-SR) :D. There was a player from Belgium who was quite closely matched with me, and he was clean too. I´ve added him on PSN, haha! My qualifying time for Race A is currently a 1:05.4, give or take. Good enough to start from pole in all three races!
Haven´t tried Race B (qualifying time: 1:31.4, in the RCZ Gr.4) nor Race C (qualifying time: 2:32:3), but I guess I could do those tonight. Gonna take a break for now.

*Absolutely unpopular opinion: I think the GTO Twin Turbo handles just fine, I don´t get the complaints in this forum!
It´s a sports-oriented, premium GT car, sure, but it´s still a GT car. If anything, it´s very consistent due to the power understeer that it has. I like it, I can run very well composed and it´s easy to push it to the limit without going off track.

To be fair it is sluggish compared to the RX-7, Supra or Skylines we've had there before. So for a Tsukuba race it may the slowest turning car we had so far.

Think i’ll have to try that little run wider trick and go over the green astro turf, seems like a good 1 second, currently 1.06:559
finding the braking point for the second corner and not scrubbing speed and stalling is the hardest part.

That’s the attitude, use every last piece of real estate that the game will allow you to use.

It definitely is sluggish compared to them, but I still like it. If anything, the terrific understeer combined with Tsukuba as a whole teaches you "hey, look. You want to divebomb the guy in front. Sure. But you´re just not going to be able to turn, so... you choose."

It´s very punishing if you miss the braking point too. You just slide out and understeer and it feels like an eternity until you get back to the racing line, so there, another point: it teaches consistency! I dunno. Maybe I´m biased.

Well, today something somehow weird happened...

Made a Race A just to take the rust off, has been a week since my last race.
3rd place on the grid, the first two almost tangled twice in the first hairpin and in the tight right hander to finally tangle on the second hairpin.
Went to 2nd and had a pretty uneventful race until I got a 0.5 sec penalty in the 4th lap due to track limits as I went too deep in the right hander, not that I was challenging the track limits but the 1st placed driver was running some weird lines. No big deal, my advantage to third was enough to take the penalty.
Imagine my surprise as it was considered a Clean Race in the end ?!?!

I see the online is still ****.
Mitsubishi MR at Suzuka with people not knowing how to drive, hitting walls but at the minimum contact, I get penalized.
Getting hit from the side, points off.
Getting hit off track, no penalties for them.
The online is useless to take it serious.
