I was in a couple of those races and was 2nd behind you (in the last one I believe) all the way up until the last lap before finishing in P3 <1s from P2. Was nice going against faster/cleaner drivers and forcing myself to be more confidently aggressive. Been only playing a little over a month now and with a DS4, but surely getting the swing of things now.

I've done quite a few C races this week and it seems best going into T1 slowly if you have a decent enough space behind you to not worry about dive bombers. Last few times out, I eased into/out of T1 only to see a handful of cars in front of me get tossed. Seems like P5-P13 is notorious for someone doing something regrettable.

You were going pretty quick for a DS4! That last race you guys upped the pressure on the last 5 laps, I had to ramp up my pace, nearly lost it on one. I forget his name, but I saw he set fast lap behind you and was coming up quick, so I tried to retake it but kept missing it by hundredths of a second lol, then lost 4sec from a mistake so I decided to just chill.

Yeah T1 is just crazy, not sure if you saw the one that nearly took out me and the pole sitter lol. Thankfully I was in the middle of that sandwhich and didn’t get shunted off track like P1. Some of those guys forget it’s a 10 lap race.

I’ve found the high downforce cars are more susceptible to anarchy as it’s easier to get away with bonehead moves.

The C race next week looks interesting, tire wear @ 13X, how long will mediums, or hards, last? looks an interesting strategy exercise.

Thanks man! After 40 days logged, I'm definitely hooked and will be thinking of going for a wheel rig of some kind. Just seems way more conducive to shifting than pressing a button on the controller. And on longer races, my fingers turn numb as hell such that when hitting the throttle, I end up changing my camera view instead.

Speaking to the Daily Race discussion a few pages back with regard to variety, wish there would be more strategy races like the Gr2 at Fuji a few weeks back. There were essentially 3 different ways to manage that particular race which added more excitement to guessing when people would pit. Often saw people try to fake each other out entering/not entering the pit.

Agreed, I hate when C has no strategy. Last week with NGP was fantastic as there were many strategies at play.

haha a wheel will be your demise and send you down the lovely rabbit hole of this hobby. A wheel makes a huge difference on consistency and immersion, especially with tire wear. Do it ;)

To be honest last week only had one viable strategy, which was the no stop. Other options were too slow

I actually saw a guy pull off a two stop and finish 3rd, which was weird. The 1 stop was viable IF you could get free from the slipstream and build a gap. But if a no stopper could hang in your slipstream it was over.

Most of the strategy was knowing when to save fuel/tires vs going for it. So it was a constant chess match with the others.

It'll depend on how much you slide after someone bumps you at T1, the right-hander before the underpass, the hairpin and the final chicane. Four corners where you'll have slid enough, to take bite out of the tyres.

13 laps at Suzuka x13 tire wear = 981.552km

Worth setting up a lobby and testing out the conditions.

So. I have a ~35k DR at any given moment, 99 SR, you'd think I wouldn't get matched with absolute jokers, and I've got a good Q time so I start near the front; but I've had to do last to first challenges at Autopolis three times so far today because I get spun around at T1 or in the first chicane-hairpin complex. If I didn't love driving the car the way it's set up now I wouldn't bother racing again. The SR/penalty system has got to get reset to the way it was before Thanksgiving.

Another person struggling with the RBJ here, probably can manage a 43 in quali but can't find any consistency and frankly not enjoying it. Always struggled with downforce cars in the DS4 and no exception here, shame as I think longer races are race C length is about spot on (assuming it's the long one each week, this is only my second week).

Race B feels like it's over before it gets going and that seems to encourage some impatient driving meaning every pass is made via a mistake (nothing too dirty yet for me in B/S). That said I almost nabbed a win (0.001) from a Mégane in a drag race to the line. I've not been off the podium in my quick 3 races this evening, 3-1-2 in order, driving the NSX so haven't had to become a meta slave to get it. Just a shame no long battles can develop as Brands doesn't give many passing opportunities.

I will be logging back on tonight after a month away . . . and the same race B is on that was there when I left? Seriously PD!!?!?
Anyway, looking forward to playing with the Jr. tonight and getting some practice laps on the others. Still too jet lagged to tace as I don't want to wipe out others, but missing it after a month off. Apart from never getting caught on the outside is there anything I missed with the penalty system? Any suggestions for Trophy hunting rides in B? Am looking at the Pony, Vette or Viper.

Tried Brands Hatch today in the Mustang. First race was mostly Dr A, B, and a S or two in the mix. Qualified 11 finished 8 after being spun off track. but the racing was clean other than that one moment. Second race was basically the same field but no crashes extended my CRB to 3. The last race was a solid DR B field and I started P3. I'm waiting for these guys ahead of me to cash out from their ramming of each other. Well this guy tries to send me wide with a bump from the rear once. Then later managed to punt me into someone making me collect a penalty. So I caught back up to him and sent him into the sand. Collected 7 secs of penalties for that one lol. It was worth it, SR dropped from 99 to 76.

Probably won't be racing again the dailies switch.

It was well worth it.

I didn't do too bad in the Atenza using my alt account. Started from the back in a B/S room. Watched some cars go off and finished in the top 10.

First race this afternoon. We don't like divebombers.
The player in 6th, started behind me in 3rd. Need I say more(I do have video though)?

Just figured out that changing BB during a tire-wear race makes a HUGE difference. Could never crack mid 147 in Race C and managed 146.8 tonight. Also think going to +2 for T2-T8 and the final section before the main straight helps bring the car around with higher speed.

If it performed similarly then it wouldn’t be the meta on all the grip tracks.
gr4 is class is totally ruined by this modlers cars . If he cant understand that the car create twice the downforce that other cars do i wont argue with im lolllll is not like a GT3 and GTLM . Its like GT4 with a GT300 :/

Well, welcome back to me. Forgot how different things are with the penalty system. Felt semi decent enough running laps to give it a go. Bad idea. Ran a disaster trying the Vette, but that was my own fault running off (many times).

Decided I was rusty so went for the trophy anyway. Got a solid lap, git pushed off by a var going sideways across the track and drop to last. Fight back up to P7, only to get bombed on that last hard left, end up p11.

Off to try the JR. I like it, but forgot how much it was allergic to curbs.:yuck: eventually felt ok, bit punted turn 1, then catching the pack someone lag spikes onto my front bumper and that is all she wrote. Started p12, now p16, 8 seconds behind. Tried again, same thing, starting p8, blasted off turn 1 down to p16. Get back to p8 and a penalty system gamer bumps me down to p11. Where I have the ability to follow him and that is where I realized they are gaming the system as I see him do it to several others. But still manage to get back to p8.

Fun night getting back, but jet lag and beer don't help you any when you are trying to catch from behind. :D
Now I need to actually learn to drive again.

So if a driver is the only A+ in a race, is he just guaranteed to lose DR, no matter what happens?
You'd think the game should let him gain at least a little bit, as long as he wins.
You'll lose DR to anyone 40K lower DR than you even if you win the race. This means that you'll always gain DR for a win if your DR is less than 40K, but once you get up in the stratospheric alien score region, it might be worth it to skip racing at times of day when there's few racers online and you're likely to get matched to mostly lowly DR-B/C/D drivers.

RL sucks, haven't had time to race all week until today. Did one of each, gained a wee bit of DR and got 3 CRB. Race A was a surprise, messy but clean. :) Best race I've had outside DRWF lobbies in weeks.

What DRWF mean?

Still a bit too hacked off for a race report for tonight, but after chilling for a bit I decided that since it was unlikely that I would be doing any more Race B's this week outside of DRWF, I'd do some qualy laps with the trophy, to see how much faster it was.

I was expecting rainbows and unicorns the way everyone whines about it . No such luck. Sure, It's easier than some to keep on the track, I wasn't finding this magical F1 hyper grip, certainly no more than several of the other cars I've driven this week. I did find it confusing however that even on grids with only a few trophies, most of the cars I saw loosing control and coming off were trophies :odd:. I was as fast if not faster with the Genesis and Viper, and definitely faster with the GT-R. It ain't the car, it's the driver. ;)

Hope your life outside GTSport improves. Keep your stick on the ice. We're all in this together.

What DRWF mean?

Daily Race With Friends? Maybe, IDK.

Last night's races was had some great competition and mixed with an S, few A+/A and half the group B's. Nice having most of the group together for 4-5 races... helps create rivalries and knowing certain drivers' strengths and weaknesses.

First two races had me starting P2 and finishing P2/P3 some 20s behind P1 who was running 17:40-45 race times. Then next to going against higher DR and mostly starting P8-P10 and finishing around P10-P12 while driving clean. If I didn't have to sleep to get up early, would have kept playing... really solid group.

And here's proof that two cars can successfully navigate T1 at Autopolis with speed...

What do you guys think of the Toyota FT-1 VGT in gr3?
I haven't used it much, but a few days ago when Gr.3 at Willow was announced, I tested some cars there.
I only tested the F/R cars, because the M/Rs are too tail-happy for me.
The FT-1 got me the fastest lap. 2nd & 3rd were the Beetle and the AMG.
I'll certainly be using the FT-1 as long as it goes as fast in the race as it does in Time Trials.
I'm hoping so, because I just made 2 liveries for it. 👍
