For practice I go to arcade custom race and set up the race with ai on Pro with 20 cars (one make) and start at the very back, tend to get to the front with no penalties by end of lap 2.
Will do my best to follow the advice and tips given, many thanks your all the input.

Sounds like your on the right track! Also like what @KosmoKazi said - despite the intimidation factor, it’s best to get used to TC - 0, all assist off except abs, and especially manual transmission ASAP.
Might take a little bit of practice but you’ll accelerate your racing/times/skill quickly

Just can't seem to make any of the cars in race A get up and go.
Not the best driver but I'm not to bad either, tend to get lap times of 1,30-1,34 just can't get any quicker than that, any advice is welcome.
All good advice. One thing that I've found...late apex! If you late apex the corners, and get full on the gas early, it pays all the way down the straight. Turn on your ghost and you can watch the gap. Get a blue up arrow, and you're gaining on your ghost. Do that again next lap. The final set of esses after the docks is also key. Control your speed so that you can line up each corner for a late apex. I hit triple digits between the first and second, and third and forth corners when I get it right. Watch the top replay from your in car view, with telemetry turned on, so you can see gear selection, lines and corner speeds. Don't try to match the late brake points. I can't even do that and I was at #25 in the region last I looked. Once you watch the replay and chase a ghost for a while, you should be below 2:25 in no time.

Edit; that should read the final set of esses after the PITS!

Cold hard fact: you need to learn to drive with TCS at 0 to be competitive in mid/high B DR and above rooms. I tried to avoid this truth but it wasn't until I put in the time to get comfortable with the TCS off, that I was able to jump up from the 20k-ish range and be more competitive consistently.

I'll dispute that. I have been as high as 36K and my natural speed in a SRS room is around 27 to 28k and I use TC2 on most cars. With an auto and the D-pad.

I agree that, with adjustments, you can use TCS and be as fast as most, in MOST cars. RWD cars that you can steer with the throttle can be significantly faster coming out of the right corner with TCS-0, but in general, a good driver can go fast either way. TCS-0 with a car like the Fugu Z is way more fun, though.:D

Yes!!!
Just did one race, on pole lead changed between myself and second, but finished in first at the end

Now I'm an A rated driver!

Edit: just noticed it was a 2.8k DR boost from one race, uhh that's not normal is it?

You get a bonus when you move up from one level to another, in the same way there is a deduction if you drop down. It's designed to avoid yo-yoing between levels when you're on the borderline.

And that's the rub! I'm climbing this week running race A, but a couple races at the mountain and I'd be back to B...again.

Ha goodluck! I broke 25k DR for first time and immediately dropped SR at race B from minor stuff, leading to a hard time working the DR!
Some of my best racing recently so it was pretty deflating, but I’m confident that I’ll be strong enough to atleast stay above 25k soon, with some luck, and clean competition.

Slightly off topic apologies, I can’t find the answer anywhere but I’m sure it’s been in a daily race before.

Does anyone know the rough time loss for pit stops on Nurb 24hr?

Taking the night off to watch the reveal of the new F150. Hey, maybe GT7 will offer a more modern Raptor.

So, I entered race a without qualifying, and cleanly worked my way up through the field. I was in good position for a win at the end, and then the other guy shoved me into the wall. I really wasn't expecting that.
If I blow the lead at the end of a race, I take my lumps and let the guy with more momentum take the win. Maybe it's a maturity thing. The other guy could be 13 years old, for all I know.

Unfortunately the selection of walled tracks lately, and how the penalty system responds is making this a bit more common. Solid move to take the pass though.

Man the genesis is pretty good round bathurst, dropped to a 2.04.5 and can race in the 4s.

So much grip and great brakes, just a bit slow down Conrod.

I think it's less than 10 seconds for splash and dash. That comes to mind for how many people I catch at the pit when doing no-stop as always. Those were all races where very little fuel is needed and no tire change. A tire change adds about 2.5 seconds. Fuel can take a while to fill up, it says in the race details 7L/s race C, 14.3 seconds to fill up from empty. (All cars have standardized 100L tank)

What ya need a pit stop for, FM6, shift at 100 rpm, make it last

Race A tonight raised 2 questions for me:

1.) In races where I had SR 99 and was 1 of only 3 or 4 DR A drivers, the rest being DR B or lower, how did I end up with door numbers as low as 8? I'm not complaining or anything, since that presumably means even more DR for me if I win with such a low car number, but if the number is based on your SR first, then your DR, how can I have door number 8 when I have the highest possible SR and at worst the 4th best DR?

2.) Why are the standing starts so random? I start every race banging the rev limiter with TCS set to 1, but sometimes I start a fraction sooner than the cars around me, sometimes a fraction later. Also, sometimes I get a little wheelspin even with TCS on, which actually helps with the launch, but usually TCS keeps the tires from ever spinning up. Is this caused by internet connection quirks, or is it something else entirely?

There are always exceptions... it's impressive to me that you can do that, though I'd offer that I would assume the d-pad has some hard-coded 'help' to assist in lieu of FF and the tactile inputs from a wheel... (please... to be clear: don't mean to start THAT debate again with the comment!).

But the physics line up with the need to take the TCS off... for example the RWD cars with nicely tuned diffs... if you are using the TCS limits, the error band of that control probably clips the available torque such that the diff won't drive, and thus won't turn the car, lowering max corner speeds compared to optimal. It's just my assumption, but it seems to bear out in driving (with a wheel...) And my style leans on maximizing the corner speeds a bit, driving onto the throttle as far before the apex as possible, so I want that control. I admit that it took me a while to get comfortable turning the TCS down to 0 (from 2... where it adds the yaw control to the slip control of 1) but when I did, my pace went up substantially.

IRL it's a rare thing to hear a performance driver say that the car is faster with the TCS and other nannies on- it's getting more common as the systems get better, and as makers tune them for performance modes in addition to the safety modes, but in most cases I think pro drivers would tell you they at least feel more secure at the same pace, if not outright faster, with them off. I saw a recent video about a 911 Ring taxi pro racer, and he said he has to leave the TCS on to manage tire wear, but I bet 9/10 would prefer it off for 10/10 performance runs.

I'm sure there are other exceptions like you, but overall I'd give the advice, especially for new people wanting to learn how to step up the speed ladder.

Door numbers are assigned by reverse alphabetical sorting of DR score, so a DR-D driver with a score of 9 will get a lower door number than a DR-A+ driver with a DR score of 89,999. Also, door numbers do not affect DR gain or loss. Losses and gains are decided entirely on your finish position and the relationship between your DR score and the scores of the drivers finishing behind and in front of you.

Assuming all the same cars and identical techniques, lag will still make it seem that some cars get a slight jump on others.
The difference in tyre slip from one start to another is possibly related to several factors:
  • Available traction on the track you're racing on
  • Tyre choice
  • Power characteristics of the car you're driving
  • Tyre temperature

Well a good night of racing B again! Some slip ups cost a few spots but overall more fun hard racing, very little contact and no penalties, yay.

Lol zigzagging through the mountain in traffic is really helping my discipline when staying tight!

Back at 99 SR for now, so glad it didn’t get bad! Gone from high qualifying to 10th or higher, lol

but been really fun racing in the back in these lobbies, staying clean 3 wide into t2 is exciting
Goodluck

Added a few more wins in Tokyo today. Finally beat the guy who's been spanking me lately. Better drive off the last corner for the pass just before the line. Tight race. 7:12.xxx race time I think. I started P2. Chased Lester a bit, trying to gain some speed. Driving that Z well tonight. Set a fast lap of 2:20.467. Felt good...slow. The real bummer is it could have been a 19. I had already lowered my time to a 20.7xx and I had a blue arrow and was up a couple tenths after the docks, then I bumped the wall coming out of the right before the tunnel. Not bad, but my arrow turned red and I lost time all the way to the hairpin. Ran the hairpin and the esses perfect, and was driving out of the final corner showing a blue arrow and -.6xx on the clock when I tagged the wall with the rear bumper due to some oversteer. Arrow went red and my lead started dissapearing. Still smoked my 20.7, but what could have been, without those 2 wall bumps. My time puts me 15th in the region and 80th in the world. My best on both charts. I hope I stay in the top 100 in the world. That would be a first for me. Might give it another try or two over the weekend. I have a top 10 (regional) time in me, and almost did it tonight. This is the closest I've been to doing that, and for some reason I really want it.

POPPYCOCK! A plus here main TCS DEFAULT.
I’ve shared so many top laps.
To each their own my man.

@x5abotagex might have seen me goofin around in the DB9 tonight. I should really practice but still TCS DEFAULT ABS DEFAULT on most cars (wheel) if you actually understand how tcs works and what triggers it to cut power it’s like CHEATING!

How nice is Gr4 this week!

It's amazing that the fwd drag queens aka the RCZ and audi TTs cannot dominate at Sardegna. They still have that straight line speed advantage, but the track configuration is too technical for them and they struggle massively in the corners, and also in tire wear. Just goes to show how poorly those cars do handle. I refuse to drive them.

Got smashed yesterday. A damn fool 650S kept blocking and the cars behind kept trying to pass me in the first esses. Sending me into the wall. I can't even back off because the cars behind don't understand cars come with brakes!

Dropped from A/S to B/C in two races!!!
Decided to qualify. Didn't get hit in T1 or T2. It was the esses and into the to 90degree right. Ridiculous.

Since I got pole in the my final two races(86 and then the Genesis), the wins brought me up to B/B. Plain silly. Nations and Manu should be a hoot!

Well found my "secret weapon" for the "mountain" yesterday but I have to say the "extreme" SR reductions seem overkill as I did a test race with no qualy time and lost 20 SR points from one race!

So at that loss rate from 1 race I have to have at least 3 clean blue SR races to get back to where I was.

The point I am making here is that if you know you are going to loose 20 points for a bad race what's the point in even joining the race as I don't like having to be selective about what I do when it comes to my racing and gaming in general.

At least two of my accounts the SR is going back up but it will be a long process to get back to the heights of SR S.

Still have to do a qualy time for Race C so does anyone have recommendation for doing a good qualy time or which car I should actually do Race C with?
