Well found my "secret weapon" for the "mountain" yesterday but I have to say the "extreme" SR reductions seem overkill as I did a test race with no qualy time and lost 20 SR points from one race!

So at that loss rate from 1 race I have to have at least 3 clean blue SR races to get back to where I was.

The point I am making here is that if you know you are going to loose 20 points for a bad race what's the point in even joining the race as I don't like having to be selective about what I do when it comes to my racing and gaming in general.

At least two of my accounts the SR is going back up but it will be a long process to get back to the heights of SR S.

Still have to do a qualy time for Race C so does anyone have recommendation for doing a good qualy time or which car I should actually do Race C with?
Genesis or Viper

Genesis or Viper

Aha! The "secret weapon" also works in Gr4? (Genesis), guess it's time I give these cars my first ever designs and maybe I should do a livery for both the Vipers as well.

Had a really good race against a Viper on the mountain yesterday where the two of us left the field behind, we had a little coming together on L2 but being the good racer I let him regain the place and apologised after the race but we had a close finish and I got compliments for my racing afterwards.

The only race I haven't completed a plan for yet is the Gr2 race because I can't decide if I want to try "old school" or the "skitter bugs"

I wish you the best of luck on that, I haven't tried from the back but one race I started 7th and it was chaotic in the beginning, other clean races were starting in 4th and up
I dont care for dr as much as sr right now so I wont even try any overtakes or battles... Just want gain as much sr as possibble before tomorrow FIA... So I think it is managable:)

It seems like RBR next week will be with wet conditions since there is only 4 laps while last RBR Gr.4 was 5 laps.
Tyres are Racing Hard though, there'd be carnage if we have dry tyres on a wet track.
PD don't seem to want to make A and B longer than 7-8 minutes which is probably why they shortened it

There are always exceptions... it's impressive to me that you can do that, though I'd offer that I would assume the d-pad has some hard-coded 'help' to assist in lieu of FF and the tactile inputs from a wheel... (please... to be clear: don't mean to start THAT debate again with the comment!).

But the physics line up with the need to take the TCS off... for example the RWD cars with nicely tuned diffs... if you are using the TCS limits, the error band of that control probably clips the available torque such that the diff won't drive, and thus won't turn the car, lowering max corner speeds

I'm not disputing that TC0 is faster than using TC if you can manage it but one can circulate around Bathurst this week in the low 2.04's with TC, 2.03's even for those good enough.

MEanwhile, cleaning up at Bathurst, constant stream of podiums due to a poor SR. DR has gone from 28K to 35K, my high is 36K. As my SR increases to S I will be hammered.

Meanwhile, bask in the Perkins 95 glory......

Then there's the last of the V8 Interceptors ......

Aston Martin vantage is good as well. Not as twitchy thru S's as viper is for me. Good top speed as well

I'll dispute that. I have been as high as 36K and my natural speed in a SRS room is around 27 to 28k and I use TC2 on most cars. With an auto and the D-pad.[/QUOTI will also dispute and agree with Neville . I have been as high as A+ DR always having traction control set at 2 for GR3 and above. even when i was on the d-pad and driving Auto trans TC always at @2. Now on g29 and Manuel TC @ 2. what works for some doesnt always work for all

Cold hard fact: you need to learn to drive with TCS at 0 to be competitive in mid/high B DR and above rooms. I tried to avoid this truth but it wasn't until I put in the time to get comfortable with the TCS off, that I was able to jump up from the 20k-ish range and be more competitive consistently.

This is after you already understand that any of the other driving aids must also be off, with the exception of the ABS (normal), and you use MT.

It's funny, after you get used to the TCS 0 in any of the cars, you can 'feel' where the car is slowing you down when you turn it back on.

This is true even for wet surfaces, perhaps even more so... you'd think it would be ok and that the TCS must be more capable than you at keeping it pointed straight, without speed penalty, but in fact it's the opposite... the TCS really slows you down in the rain. I was able to lap >1 sec a lap faster with the TCS off at Spa, compared to 1, in the recent FIA race on a wet track.

But as to the original question: just keep practicing! There is no substitute for track time. None. The only beginner tip that is worth repeating over and over: slow in / fast out... especially obvious when you drive the Fugu Z at Tokyo. Any time you give up on the entry to the turn is payed back 2x on the exit and following straight. Those runs off the corner are twice as important as the speed you carry into the corner. Watch your lap delta in the HUD get further and further into the blue, and that triangle stay pointed up, when you learn to ease off the entry earlier and earlier, and apply the throttle smoother and earlier on exit again and again. That car repays your confidence in that approach big time.
I have always driven with TC @ 2 for GR3 and above. Current DR is A right around 37,000 been as high as A+ around 60,000

Lol last race of the night at B, almost sent myself to SR hell again! Just bad race, a mistake/penalty for me every lap, luckily didn’t mess anyone up besides a bump when I fishtailed into them.

Post game chat the person said I should prolly go to bed, lmao they nailed it.

People need to use them brakes. Had PP. One TT smashed me off. Then another TT smashed me off. Neither waited to hand the spot back.

Catching up to the first. I'm crashes on its own. Catching up to the P2 TT. IM night in its bumper to send it to Gundungaland. It activates the hazard lights and slows down. Drops way back from me. Lucky chap.

Anyway, back up in B/S for a while. All German, Italian and British cars done.

M4 was worse by far. Tyre wear was worse than an FF on both tyres. I won with the Cayman, but it sucked. Has grip. No grip. About to set FL. No grip. No turn. Then all the grip and turn.

The 4C was the most fun. "AlfaFlea" that's his name. Didn't give on it. Had two RCZs trying to harrass, but it's so quick through the middle of the lap. Once I got a slight gap on the straight, it was over.
Caught up to the car ahead by setting my fastest laps on Lap 9 and then Lap 10. Ty es finally warmed up around the end of the race. Thank you AlfaFlea.

The 458 is a scalpel. Pretty much a slot car. The GT-R is nice too, but I think the 458 is the one to have. Done for the he night.

So far this week in Race A I've done 25 races with 14 poles, 16 wins, and only finished outside the Top 5 once, when I accidentally punted the leader into Turn 2 then parked to wait for him. I also successfully recovered my DR back to over 40k after the reset at Monza last Sunday. Honestly if I hadn't gotten that reset, I never would've even attempted the Dailies this week to recover, and I never would've found out how much I actually enjoy the Race A combo. It really makes me regret not doing the FIA Nations race with the same car...

Funny how that works... same has happened to me before, though less dramatic. But getting knocked back sometimes turns out to be a blessing. I did well at the Willow Run Mitsu GTO SR rehab series a few weeks ago, after getting perilously close to a reset for bogus SR penalties that week.

I am also bummed I didn't run the Nations Fugu race at Tokyo, I think I would have done well and it would have been a fun one. I missed it for being out of town, not by choice though. I have really enjoyed the Race A this week, even if I've been less successful as you, and not had the time to run it as much, but I have gathered a few wins there on my main account and used it to kick start my new Alt account. It's been pretty easy to run top-3 no matter what happens.

Heres a little story about tc.

I had a personal vehicle recently with a tc fault. It was the STEERING WHEEL POSITION sensor.
TCS in GTS is the same. If you turn the wheel past a certain degree of rotation during cornering it will limit power output slightly or completely.
It’s literally like a switch attached to STEERING ANGLE.
One trick is just before apex tur
If you are in a good line and don’t turn the wheel far enough to trigger the switch, power is not cut at all.
Requirements for use of default tcs...AT APEX steering angle in degrees maximum NOT PAST.
NEXT RELEASE THAT ANGLE AND APPLY THROTTLE.
You can play with getting on throttle earlier and earlier on exit this way...good for laptimes...
This is very helpful in many cars especially gt3 and fast downforce cars, but is also EXTREMELY helpful with the fast FWD cars in gr4.

Kinda felt like a jerk not explaining how it works in my prior post :). GTP FTW!

Cheers guys have fun out there!

Actually I just realized the Nations race was at a different version of Tokyo . I'm not so sure I'd have done that race after all!

Also since I don't like most of the Daily combos, when one comes along that I do like, I spam it as much as possible. Unfortunately I missed the Gr. 1 race at Sardegna.

I think the driving style and fun of the Fugu was similar for the version of the track used for the Nations race... I had practiced it a bit and I think if you enjoy the Daily this week, it would have been fun in that race too. Lots of the sweeping curves on the curb and with the walls on exit, and a couple of hard hairpins to keep you honest. But anyway, it's under the bridge now.

I was surprised that I was able to do so well at the Daily Race this week, but I don't have the patience to mine or farm the DR like I might, to pad my rating. Maybe I should, but between the FIA series and practicing for those, along with putting in QT for the Dailies, even if I don't race them much, I can't spend more time to do that like I might like to.

Man I just can’t seem to nail those turns going into the 2 straights at Bathurst, particularly turn one.

Sometimes I try hard braking in a straight line and throwing the car in, sometimes trail brake alittle, sometimes a lot! (My trail braking leaves much to be desired BTW)

This has lead to me taking the turn differently every time, which is counter productive lol

@Groundfish - funny you posted Paul revere, I was just listening to that on the way to work lol.

Usally when I join a party people start singing sabotage, which is always fun :)

Got punted on lap 1, from pole, ended up with a 2 second penalty to boot.

Decided to just finish the race and try for a fastest lap. Didn't think it would end like this.

Hope the video is ok. First time sharing one, any tips are welcome on the video sharing. Cheers

I thought for sure, especially after all that pushing, that one of them was going to put you in the wall, glad they didn't and that your sensible driving was rewarded with the win. 👍

Really,??? Maybe it's your car? At 19.1 in the stang I feel really good even against low A players.

FWIW I hang right, intentionally wiggle the rear a bit and sort of slide through the corner, getting on the gas super early but really, multiple techniques yield the same sector time.

Now, forests elbow is another story. Ideally one start well right and absolutely hugs the inside, blindly loading on the power and trusting that you wont push wide. That, if you can do it, is worth half a second by the time you hit the chase. I cant do it with a dpad.

Yeah. Credit has to go where it's due. The Spaniard who was in the lead, didn't close the door on me.

Other drivers would have blocked me off and I'd probably have finished 3rd or 4th. With an SR down and penalty.

Oh man... I trying my best... Starting from the back, even waiting a bit to everybody pull over, 3rd lap some accident in front, yellow flags, I keep my pace, 3s penalty... Thats crazy
Edit: my point was that I lost CRB in that stupid way... Bright side is SR back to S
