Spa / Group 4. I enjoy FF cars. This week, though, Jag F-Type (FR) is about 3 or 4 tenths quicker for the hot lappers. I cannot match my FF times in the Jag or any other FR car.

So, I am sticking with the FF cars and have a question.

The RCZ is the clear choice (amongst FFs) in the races and the leaderboard. I have opted for the VW Sirocco as I can get a faster time. So, FF experts, what am I missing? What should I be looking for in the RCZ? I am 4 or 5 tenths faster in the VW 2:26.7 vs 2:27.2. My 2:26.7 is not a lucky lap as I can string together 2:26 laps. I am using TCS=0 and BB+5 for both.

Sometimes, I am right and the whole world is wrong... it doesn't feel like one of those times. :)

newb, so take this FWIW. I found the TT/Scirroco/RCZ all about the same. The Magane was giving me faster times by 1.5 seconds. All cars except TT at TSC0 and BB 0. I should mess around with the BB on the Magane bit it rotates well at 0. Am going to try RCZ again based on reviews. I should put some +BB on I guess. There are so many cars to choose from in Gr 4 that drive much the same.

Then you have race A where even good drivers can't drive the cars, and whoever drives the least bad wins. I was racing the 997 at TSC1 and the car screamed at me the whole race. It was a fishtail and divebombing fest. That, or people forget they need to brake 6 miles before the next turn,,,lol There was something oddly fun about it though.

Assuming you survive turn 1, people reliably outbrake themselves into the chicane at the end of the back straight - great spot to make up ground if you don't follow suit or get wiped out. Then trying to take the optimal line through the last corner without somebody trying the tight line is an adventure as well.

Daily Race C was pretty fun for me. The meta car in my lobbies was the Peugeot 908, which isn't a bad car, but just isn't as fun when everyone else is using it. Only 2 races in it.

So I went with the only two Gr.1 cars that I have left, the 919 for one race & the McLaren VGT for three. The cool thing about these cars is the that you can negate some of penalty time loss with the hybrid system. The more it deploys, the more time you can save. AWD helps as well.

It can also be used to pass cars on the Mulsanne straight if you save a bit of battery power before the exit. Just get into the slipstream of the faster car, then when you start gaining go to half throttle or until you're no longer gaining. It'll regen a bit a before the braking zone and when you brake you'll get more. When its time, punch it.

I picked this up watching one of Kireth Kart's streams.

Deadset did the same thing as you, wasn't paying attention and just quickly hit X on the first tyre option. I usually go harder compound first in these races so just instinctively went medium. I do agree it should just put the other mandatory compound you haven't used first.

It's probably been well said already: It's such a bafflingly bad car.

For some reason (Well, I know why) the car is fantastic through Porsche Curves but awful by some margin everywhere else. It's absurd. The car was designed for one job at one track and it can only do a 20 second section of a 3 and a half minute lap well. It's the definition of a solution to a problem no one ever had.

Was sorta fun tho.

It's such an awful car, I'm glad they tried something different and I do have a bit of a soft spot for it, but it is terrible. If the rules had allowed for a motor at each of the rear wheels instead of the crazy linkage that didn't work, then it might have been good, but as it is, it's hopeless. It struggles even more in GTS as the hybrid boost seems to be outside of the traction control, making it almost impossible to get out of corners quickly, and destroying its tyres, plus they've left the BoP as 100/100 when it clearly needs a boost more than any other car. That said, I still may try a race in it this week...

Well, now I done it too. Pole, lead all the way to finish, putting one second a lap between me and number 2.
Except I apparently rested my finger on the X coming in and picked the wrong tire...
So finished 15.
IRL I would be furious with my crew but now I can only be furious with myself and that won't make a difference. So on to next....

PD should just make a Nations one make with it around Tsukuba or something. That’d be a riot.

I did find it weird that when I pitted with RH tyres on last night the cursor defaulted to the RH tyres and the icon was flashing, almost as if the game was taunting me to take them!

Getting better at La Sarthe, circuit experience helped and I've gone for the 787B. If I'm rotten around the corners anyway might as well get some of it back on the straights. And the sound it makes is crazy!!

I'll share a few replays so you can see how I drive. It can be hard to follow a top 10 sometimes

I think people need to get out of the habbit of selecting tyres quickly. You now have a year to select them before you reach the pit box.

I agree. In my case I never even saw the options, I pitted and it flashed by. As I said, I must have rested my finger on it.

Edit, edit: are we sure the animation and waiting starts before we selected tires and fuel? I don't think it does....

Same here. I can only drive 2 racing cars (TT and RCZ) and be competitive (sometimes) in DR A. That really sucks, no Gr 3/2/1 and because PD is breaking the penalty system with every change I don't race street cars anymore, even when I do my best Q based un kudos prime stats.

I wish I can learn how to drive other cars, no success so far in 8 months playing.

Practice. One of the best times to practice is during a week when none of the daily races tickle your fancy. I've done it quite often. I wish I would have taken my own advice when I started playing the game. It took me 11 months to win my first daily, but I still hadn't "learned" how to race. I'm now 2 years & 9 months into GT Sport & I don't think I do too bad. I've won in Gr. 2, 3, 4, N200 & N300 classes.

Let's make a pact! DR be dammed and let's race those other cars.

I concentrate on Group 4 during Group 4 weeks if the combo is right. Last week I drove RBR/Gr 2 and got my a$$ handed to me. Ditto a month ago at Spa/Gr1. Each week I learn something new and can apply it to other combos. My experience in Gr 1 (brake modulation) has made me a better FF Group 4 driver.

I use brake modulation. It's called ABS. Truth be told, the game is always teaching us, even if we think we know it all. Last month at DTS, I only had the '08 GT-R on my alt account. I didn't want to spend credits on the '16 model, so I "run what I brung". I got a feel for the aerodynamics of the class of car when in the dirty air & was able to adjust my braking & turning points accordingly. Then, when I felt like I had been outclassed by the newer cars, I bought the '16, used the same lessons I learned from the '08, & beat my best lap time en route to a comeback win that I never thought was possible.

I hadn't ever bought/been gifted/driven the GT-R LM. After seeing that it was an FF Gr. 1 car, I laughed absurdly. But, just last week, I read an article (https://www.thedrive.com/accelerato...wn-mazda-and-nissans-boldest-motorsports-bets) that described briefly the story of the GT-R LM & why it was a hot mess. Then, when trying to find that article, I ran across another & whoa boy! It wasn't just a hot mess, it was a volcanic lava flow of a mess. https://www.thedrive.com/design/1433/failed-le-mans-program-is-a-black-eye-for-nissan

With all of that being said, if Nissan had the money to burn & take the car back to the drawing board, they could have had a competitive car in a couple of years.

Had an elbows out race this morning. while battling for 1st both of us in 908's driver kept squeezing me over while I was trying to pass down mulsane finally was able to get by leading up to mulsane corner. On the straight run up to Indianapolis I squeezed him just a bit before the right heading in to Indianapolis which turns into the inside at Indianapolis and he missed his braking point and off into the kitty litter I go on to win.( no contact no penalty for either of us )I don't understand the mentality of not just letting people pass when they have the tow and clearly have more speed. This all happened around lap 3 or 4 on lap 2 he had the run down mulsane and I let him go, held my line and fell in behind to pick the tow not sure what goes thru people's heads

Here's me putting in a really good qualifying lap at LeMans, and then blowing it at the final chicane. :banghead:

I really wish, at least in races where there's only two tires available, that the selector would default to the tire you're not currently on. 99.9% of pitstops are going to be for switching tires now that the pit stop loss practically covers the entire field.
Be careful what you wish for, you might end up with surprise intermediates. A back button would be nice even if it adds a second or two to your stop.

Urrrrrrgh.

Go to end of lap 1. I do everything well, I see the two guys in front of me battling so bide my time, I take a very high line into La Source and it pays off, i take the TT cleanly. I could have lunged at the grey Jag at any time but I wait for the right opportunity, it comes again at La Source and I take him. I then defend well through the weak parts of the track for me and pull away as usual through the esses and Campus.

Look all set for a fine race and gaining 3 spots.... then I crumble. Gaaah.

Well I set up an alt account last week, and already he is faster than regular me!
Somehow BarneyDaDog can lap a second quicker around Spa than regular Barney_Da_Dog. He also did better at RBR last week. Weird.

I've always struggled at Spa, but seem to have found a heap of time in the Jag by using 4th where I'd usually take 3rd, and also by changing up earlier. In places where I feel I'm going slower, I seem to gain time now.

As someone mentioned previously, I wish there was a grid start and maybe an extra lap. Unless there's some carnage up front there seems to be little chance of progressing as the whole field is quite strung out after half a lap.

One corner i seem to get hounded on BADLY is the left hander after Rivage. I take rivage ok, but simply CANNOT rotate the car left quick enough, EVERYONE around me gains on me then pressures me into Pouhon.

I have found a ton of time through Campus though, I am eating guys alive through there, SB guys anyways.
