Sometimes I wish I had a radio so I could call the car in front with a message along the lines of "now floor it, don't worry about me, I'm not interested in passing, but let's get the hell out of here before the train behind catches us". Just had an excellent race with PSNID BigE1286 using that principle, we cleared the rest of the field by nearly ten seconds at Gardens.

If I had a radio, I'd probably just say "YOU 🤬 🤬 🤬 I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR 🤬🤬 AND SMASH YOUR 🤬 PS4 WITH MY ROCK HAMMER" :)

That's how I try to race with some players, but they just don't get it. Some do and they are respectful. Most of the time, backing off a bit, actually makes more time, when others go off and get penalties.
 
Didn't fancy doing Race B, so I had a couple of cracks at Race A. First go at it, I didn't qualify and started at the back of the field. The grid was comprised of one S, three As and the rest Ds.

The start was chaotic, with me shooting up several places because people didn't manage the standing start very well. I had back off at T1 because I was driving round the corner faster than several other cars but I just couldn't find a gap. I got hit with an orange SR coming out of the turn leading onto the section that ends in the hairpin. I was just trying to make it out and stay on the black stuff when someone comes careening through the inside and pushes me wide :dunce:. Then there was the Chinese guy who just couldn't grasp the concept that if someone is passing you, you do not push them aside. The digby kept doing it and brake checking me. I got another orange SR from that. Eventually he ran into the wall coming out of the second to last corner and I cruised on by, no longer impeded by his underhanded driving :cheers:.

I had someone coming up behind me, which I assumed was the digby, so I actively defended. One move. I went wide on one of the corners and was on the grass momentarily, and got passed by two others. It wasn't the digby, so I could have relaxed and been a bit more polite :crazy:. Finished P7 from 11, and a gold trophy. Digby finished last carrying a 5s penalty. DR went up a bit, but SR took a tumble, down 8.

On to the next race. This time I thought I'd qualify. P8 out of 12. Because my SR had dropped close to SR/A, I was the only DR/D in the race.

I made a few positions at the start, got sardined in the esses and granted an orange SR. I was doing ok after that. there was someone hot on my heels who was a bit too enthusiastic and rear ended me in a braking zone. Don't think it was deliberate. He probably thought I was brake checking him. Somewhere along the way I'd bled off the penalty, and I was passed by someone carrying a penalty, so I stuck as close as I could, but I was too slow on the final two corners and he managed to have enough time to get rid of his penalty before he crossed, so my position stuck.

SR dropped another point. barely hanging on to SR/S. DR went up a bit more.

Ahhh, I love a good Race C.

3 races at Interlagos tonight, my main motivation was to increase my SR before FIA but I also ended up taking one win, a 6th place (meh), and finished 3rd in a A/S lobby to close out the night. Went from 57 to 98 SR, and gained over 1000DR, so mission accomplished. Now let’s see if I can keep up that momentum at NurbGP tomorrow!

Man this game is brilliant but the tracks .. the tracks ... so many are rubbish including Interlagos. No matter how hard i tried i racked up multiple penalties in both races last night. The track limits for this circuit have clearly changed from what they were and even then, the Megane fest means you have wildly different braking points. I dropped from SR A to C, was a mess.
 
Really good to hear about the tire compound option. I don't see why they don't let us use any compound - it would make Race C even more interesting strategy-wise.
 
@NevilleNobody Honestly I’m rather surprised myself that I made it back up to nearly max SR in just 3 races, but that’s the beauty of Race C, and Interlagos happens to be one of my best tracks, even though I’m much better with Gr.3 there. In DR.A it’s tough to avoid penalties because almost all contact gets you one, but I’m learning how to work with the system instead of against it. There are all kinds of really fast drivers who have basically learned how to drive kinda dirty without getting penalties. I’ve taken their tricks and started using them in my own way. What I’ve noticed is that a majority of the time, dive bombers don’t get harsh penalties unless they collide with you pretty hard. This means that they can squeeze up on your inside at the last second and make contact, and since they are on the inside the game thinks that the guy on the outside should have given space. Well, I don’t do what they do but I’ve been protecting that inside spot like never before, so now when they hit me, they get the penalty because they either rear end me, or are forced to attempt a pass on the outside...and since they are five bombers who are actually a bit slower than me, they rarely get it and often get a penalty if they do.

At Interlagos it’s tough through T1/T2, because if you defend the inside on T1, they might have it through T2. So defend the inside line on T1 but not too far over to the left so you can floor it in a straight line towards T2. This means that if they want the inside spot through T1 they have to risk penalty for going off track, and if they try to pass on the outside of T1 they lose some speed because their path to T2 is less of a straight line. So a few times last night there were bombers trying to squeeze in at the last second, but I forced them to the outside where they did sometimes almost pass me, but I had the straight line heading into T2 and I passed them just before we got there. After that I can usually lose them through the twisty parts of the track. Interlagos is a great track but it’s diffucult to pass outside if only a couple sections. So if you find yourself in a race where people know this and don’t try to force it, a race there can be a beautiful thing. I used to have a hard time not getting penalties there, but it’s like you have to develop a different strategy for each track and its conditions.

I haven't raced (if you could call what I do racing :lol:) this much in a while. On to Race C. First race I qualified P10/16. I was the highest DR/D on the grid.

I decided to try a no stop with the Viper. I went with fuel map 3 and hard slicks. I have a sneaky suspicion that 3 is the standard setting for race C
and I wasn't going to get any benefit from it. Between that and short shifting I thought I'd be right. Clearly a one stop strategy just isn't my thing :rolleyes:. Aside from getting bashed a bit, which gained me an orange SR, the short shifting made me painfully slow. I dropped back to last place, then came up a lap short on fuel! Last place at 80kph, what a drag.

DR dropped about 600, SR went up 4. Not happy with the whole fuel strategy, I decided to go with the RSR Blackbird and do a Petter Solberg. None of this fancy strategy, just race! Qualified P11/19 with a few more DR/Ds but still mostly higher ratings.

The race starts, I take it easy on T1 and get through with no penalties. I manage to get to lap 4 when I had to take evasive action because the Magoo who was coming out of the pits decided that I wasn't there. I avoided contact and that really screwed with my rhythm. I pitted lap 6, slapped on some medium boots and off I went. On lap 8 another moron decided the chicane was a passing zone and there was nothing I could do to avoid contact in the chicane. I didn't see him on radar, he just ploughed in up the inside while I had already started to turn. Orange SR and 2s penalty :banghead:. I was on track to get a clean race bonus till then. I seem to have most of my problems from drivers with a Hong Kong flag. I blame @Alpha Cipher :p.

SR up to 90, DR up about 300. My DR/SR has been up and down like a bloody yo-yo tonight :scared:! Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

The car ahead usually gets the message if you let go of the gas before the corner, show him you're not interested in passing, yet. It also helps to set up a faster corner exit. Give room, draft back up after the corner works most of the time.

Run Medium tire in qualify, and stay in Hard no matter what in race. Unless you can manage speed until lap 7 so you can change to medium, change medium in lap 6 just bad to me.

Holy hell, lot people using medium become a torpedo or drifter in mid lap 3 and 4 :lol: and I sometimes can't avoid them and get penalty :dunce:
 
The BRZ seems another of those rare examples where having TC on full helps, could only manage a 0:55.800 without it but now have a 0:55.339 with it on 5

Yeah I got creamed by a guy using AT, TCS, and CSA...

Now I'm Consistently running 55 sec laps with that setup ^^
 
I raced at race B all day today because i 1. didn't like race A much & 2. im rubbish at interlagos hehe + race B sounded so stupid on paper normal racing with a car desinged to go sideways Power & Torque figures over 1.000 on one of the smallest & tightest tracks in the game so many thing could go so wrong right? well they did especially at the start of the races where you had at least one player divebomb at T1 T2 & T5 etc etc but it didn't go nearly as bad as i thought at the end my ratings are up overall so pretty much a typical day online can't conplain. However i would complain about these whats up with the out of nowhere unghost? in this case no one was at fault. I was actually quite mad until i checked the replay because i was running well at 4th from 12th but because of this i droped to 10th & the guy who crashed in to me didn't take a penalty finished his race as normal & didn't apologized (at least in french) the worst thing is that after the race i got the bad result sad cutscene for something i could not avoid so my quastion is again where was the ghosting ?? (keep in mind i was racing between the C-B C-C range) so a fair bit of ghosting should be present.
I am 100% at fault for losing control but why did the game reset me the ones close to me had already past & i was rejoining the track at low speed without anyone else close enough in fact as you can see the other past me quite a bit after the reset i would have been so much better if i was ghosted instead. So thoughts?

Imagine the carnage at Interlagos, lap 3, on super soft tyres. Would be like watching curling, except everything is 10x faster :D:D
 
Loving the tyre choice for daily races, hope it continues. Good race with @bmxmitch too

First couple of races were a nightmare, people divebombing from everywhere but after that I really had fun and I can't believe it, for the first time since November I'm at Dr B!
At the end of the day Dr low B from C and SR back to 99! :cool::D:D

I will say that Gardens Reverse (or Gardens II, whatever) is absolutely awful and has none of the flow that the regular direction has. I can't believe PD runs it in reverse.
 
4 races on race c tonight and 4 times spun out by other cocks, I don't get it some days you can run 1mm next too the other cars and you don't touch and still battle and have a good race, other days you just seem to get spun out by aggressive drivers , for which the penalties they receive for that offence is minimal, where as a spin cost you 10 places, how is that fair.
I feel they need to adjust bumping slightly for race c tonight as there isn't enough penalties for the opening lap, it just feels like a banger race

For the first one, just always assume the car will unghost, especially when driving in a straight line, that’s just naive thinking you can drive right through him.

For the second one, through no fault of your own, your use of a DS4 is so obvious, your steering is so jerky, aim to turn much smoother and you’ll be way faster.

The last one is simply you’ve tired to rejoin the track on the inside of the circuit, ie. you just took a shortcut at a hairpin (even though we can see you didn’t), yeah the game is gonna reset you there!

Keep enjoying yourself though mate :)
 
I had a blast with race B driving from a friends account at his place. He was in DR D with 2800 points. After only 1 race he went to DR 5800. Brilliant car, was impossible to drive normally. TCS 1.

Ha, I'm the opposite. I enjoy the reverse much more than the regular direction. Much less diving in that U turn. It's not a great track either way though, barely beats Alsace at the bottom of the barrel.
 
I had a bunch of good, clean races today at NurbGP. Gained a few thousand DR and stayed at 99SR. Oh and 5th place at Nations in an A/S lobby is fine by me :cheers:
