I want to win at La Sarthe however after 52 races since it was added I have yet to get higher than 3rd, I am currently in B/B and finding it tough going. Been using the R18 '16 and using MINKIHL's tune he is currently 3rd in the top 10 using it but I could only get down to a 3:26.252. Just after some tips on how to go fast here the new track limits are a bit too relaxed on some parts tight on others, I think my main issue is carrying speed onto the long straight. How do you guys take that bend?? [The one onto the main straight]

If you're talking about that fast right-hander that leads into the first long straight, I normally just tap the brake once pretty hard kind of early then after releasing I make the hard right. As soon as the car starts turning in and it looks like I'm pointing the right direction, full throttle till the end. I'm not sure if the track limits on this turn got adjusted, but the penalties were strict here even for going wide, so I'd say I take it a little bit conservatively compared to other people who often get penalties there. If you take it a little too far on the inside the penalty can be huge, so it's better to go wide I think if you're going to run outside the lines. When approaching the first chicane after that long straight (I'm terrible at remembering the names of the turns/sectors) I tend to also brake a little early and make the initial right pretty tight so when I start to make the left it's basically a straight shot out of that turn and onto the next long straight. Same strategy for the 2nd chicane...however, it looks like those limits might have been adjusted too so you might be able to get away with some cuts there that you couldn't use to. You can gain a whole second there if you cut it just right.

First top 3 since a very looooooonnnnnng time, and after too many 4th positions :

What works for me is a tap of the brakes to make my car turn, then back to full throttle, hitting the inside curb. I would say just go lower in that curve, because I had penalties for going too wide, but not for going too low.

I love the braking into the corner at the end of the mulsanne and then later Indianapolis. Super fast and when you get it spot on in the first one, release the brakes and turn into the tight right and later the fast right (flat if your brave or maybe just a jab on the brakes as you turn in)into the tight left. Such a rush especially in close company with other cars.

Get either wrong and your lap is doomed.

The main issues is not making at least 1 mistake, think am getting tired done 779 miles round Le Sarthe today. My qualifying time has had me starting 5th a few time too which drops you right in the chicane which is a bit rubbish..
Was running 2nd on the last lap just now and broke too late at the end of Mulsanne and went into the sand and dropped to 9th gained 2532 driver points during today on race C so not all bad.

Shame about that. 3 more and you would have had the achievement bonus. I'm surprised to see such a plain livery for you. I think that red is the one I use for my wheels, and the first pic has my race number .
Yep. Ironically, it was a frantic LM55 that took me out. The same player that was a bit all over the joint in Race B with a Jag. I figured my Clean luck was going to run out, if I kept running that event.

After I did my last Race B, I did a couple Campaign races, that gave me 65k to reach 1mil Cr. The color is Soul Red from this week's Mileage Exchange. Only had time to paint and save before the race. Then, I acquired the mazdaspeed logo, before the next race.

I was pulling way from the R92CP(sadly, because I love that car, but easily) and Sauber. I think it is the Hyundai that was able to keep up, but only in the slipstream. The slow stuff, of course, was a different story.

Imho PD need to do this...
When you reach the B A A+ or S driver rating, automatically you can use the TCS but set at 1 via software, this is the only aid you have, so you can't use at 2,3 etc...and you can use only the abs.
At the high level PD need to make a selection imho.
All the others aids are set to off via software, so, you can race with all drivers in the same condition like your.
In this way we will have a real selection of real drivers.
It's absurd to see drivers A S, and today I saw in a B race at Lago Maggiore against me, that run with all the aids on... C'mon.. Isn't fair imho

It's already carnage with abs and tcs, imagine everyone without it :D

Besides, aids make the car slower so there's that.. If you're not faster without them then you need to practice more, everyone here will tell you that.

You're right mate, but I think in this way, we will have a Real selection of Real driver.
You're in B driver rating?
Ok...now you have to demonstrate that you're a good driver without aids... This is my thought... Hope you understand... I'm Italian and my English is very bad... Lol

Race A is carnage. Punted from pole twice down to SR B from A.
I Was an SR S and DR A+ a week ago until ST Croix. Was being targeted by a specific driver and lost my Sportsmans rank. Then the game crashed lost over 2000 DR and 67 SR.
I honestly feel like quitting as i don't think I'll be able to get out of this.

Been bleeding SR myself this week. Oddly a clean 4 lap race now brings 4 SR points but passing a spun out bloke and being punted twice takes 7. The lower SR gets, the more you can't get out

You can, i've had 2 resets and everytime i got back to A+ i would get a disconnect as seen in my kudos prime stats so you aren't alone.

I've been rotating events weekly. My approach was focus on 1 at a time. Race A at Tsukuba, then C at Nurburg GP, then B at Dragon.

And I feel it's helped me a lot at Tsukuba the 2nd time it has come up. Although it's a different car, I feel somewhat comfortable in traffic. I've managed to anticipate others better and avoid without sacrificing too much. Probably been lucky too.

I like the weekly schedule. Like I like vegetables. Because I know it's good for me.

Since last week I've decided to do 2 days on each one if I'm on

This Impreza is a hateful car.

You could try just racing for fun.

Yeh, Soul Red. I use 3K Matte for the body and Soul Red for the wheels.

After having driven all 3 group C's I found the Nissan to be the most difficult to drive. It was the '89 version I preferred in GT4. The night before I was one of 4 Saubers, but last night I was the only group C with the Jag.

Played a bit last night running the sauber and playing with setup which I didnt realise the night before while running the jag. The driving was prettt horrific in the mid pack abd coming from the back. People seemed to not like the fact I could blow past them in a straight line and would punt me from behind at the next corner. Still good fun and back up to A dr and S sr

My last race, a Jag was on Pole. Can't remember if it won, but that's a car I haven't tried yet.

Starting at C/C with about 8.1k DR and 34 SR, I was inspired by @Sven Jurgens to start from the back without qualifying at Race B Maggiore to rebuild SR. I decided to rum the Hyundai Genesis. What a car! Very stable under braking, decent engine note, predictable and forgiving handling. And hardly anyone uses it, so you can kinda stand out.

Anyway, starting from the back...my God, how fun was that! Every race I was making up 8-9 places on average and finished 5th at best from the back. SR was building slowly, but DR gain was pathetic, given the mostly D/C and C/C grid. Had some of my best Sport Mode races, avoiding T1 carnage, keeping it tidy and working my way through. If I'd had qualified (I can only muster 1:59.6), I would've started between 3rd-6th, given the matchmaking. But it was hella fun surviving the attrition. I even had a 4 clean race streak! Fun!

After about 6-7 races, I was back to SR B, just shy of SR A, and on the brink of getting back to DR B. My clean race streak was ended when I got caught up in carnage and got punted off, and within 2 races, I was back at DR C. Frustrated, I decided to qualify and fight for the podium. It all went downhill from there...sigh. Starting mid pack was frustrating, lots of contact, and one or two of my own mistakes (all aids off, ABS Weak) put me at the back despite qualifying between 4th-7th. And finishing worse than all the C/B and D/B drivers lost me a ton of DR, I had less than what I started with 2 nights ago!!

In my last race for the night, I qualified 4th, had a tight tussle with a B/B driver ahead in 3rd. We swapped 3rd place throughout the race, and I managed to pass him for the last time on the last lap to take 3rd, my best result on Race B so far. Got a bunch of DR and SR back in that one single race, almost 1000 DR for beating a higher ranked driver, making up for all the times I lost DR.

Conclusion: starting from the back without quali is fun, builds SR, but pathetic DR gain. And one or two mistakes can destroy the slow progress you made. Qualifying well, fighting at the front and beating higher-ranked drivers is still the best way to earn DR, but it's tough, and you're always at risk of the mid pack rammers ruining T1 for you.

I didn't know the limits were that bad! I still pick up penalties exiting the first chicane and indianapolis if I'm not careful but I had noticed that getting "corvette" (the quick left hander after the tighter right towards the end of the lap?) slightly wrong results in no penalty.

It's inconsistent and pretty much guess work. Even in the exact same places you sometimes end up with a penalty, other times not. Penalties also seem to disappear while racing normally so a few seconds here or there are nothing to worry about.

Thanks, but I'll keep racing stock. Not much point comparing cars if I start altering their stock behavior. Plus I don't like tuning at all.

I do know the benefits as while grinding Bluemoon I used someone's tune which turned the KTM from challenging to win with clean bonus to a snooze fest easy clean win while watching tv. Good for grinding, that's it.

The promise of a level playing field is what drew me to GTS. Playing GT5 it was always hard to get to the finish in time racing against tuned cars. I'm having flashbacks to that currently on Sarthe getting timed out frequently again.

The oldies are dangerous to drive as they have earlier braking points. People in the souped up hybrids don't realize this and simply use their hotlap braking point while right behind you. I have been punted so many times in my 3 races in the Jaguar I only managed to get 1 uncontaminated lap to count for best lap. First race my best lap was 3:51 lol.

It's quite interesting switching between old and new as I'm going alphabetical order again through all the cars. Braking points are very different as well as speed through the Porsche curves.

The jag almost dragged me out of SR.S for getting hit so many times, down to 82 after 3 races. Next race in the Mazda LM55, 'regular' braking points again and back up to 97 after the first race.

Think I started in front of you in that race were you in the 787b? I was in the Sauber kept tripping over a japanese guy in a mazda lm55. Packed it in after that race

Oh man,
So I went in on the gr3. Didn’t put too much effort into qualifying and get 10 on a bs grid. All drivers within 3 secs qual wise.
Stayed in my lane in first section and ended up in 14. It was all close at this point. Came through next section and a driver ahead bobbled but not enough to make a move. Came through down the straight to the banked turn and got passed. It was looking bleak. The 911 felt loose. Kept at it for another couple laps back to 10. Good!
Feeling like I can have a chance at moving up a spot coming into the start finish straight as 3 guys up ahead.
Then the unthinkable happened. Midway down the straight I am looking for my markers.
Next thing you know I am hardbraking trying to swerve off the Audi in front of me. I punted him.

Shocked by the foul evil deed I had done I pulled off as he rejoined and sped off. I got the sr badge of shame and a 4 second penalty. I finished the lap but wow. I really didn’t think I missed my brake.

I wrote an apology in the lobby and I think he saw it. Saved the replay for forensics. I had to watch several times but what happened was the two guys ahead of him braked a touch early and he braked just a touch before the 100 meter. I braked at my normal spot but no chance I mean no chance and CRUNCH.

I always try to drive with margin but I couldn’t see the guys ahead because I was in slipstream and blocked view wise. I should have pulled inside before the braking zone. So total honest mistake by me lost sr points. I’m gonna sit the next few out. I’m sorry Canada. That threw off my mojo I’ve never done that before.

I did look at times during the replay watch and I was good there equaling the top five. I am starting to think the Porsche can be a little skatey in slipstream and that was my sense of the car feeling a bit loose in certain sections. Seems a bit different feel running in slipstream through corners vs qualifying practice...I dunno I never noticed a car feeling that before but I’ve only used the 911 pre tire update.
Time to regroup and come back another day.

Soooo....got my 8th* win all time at Maggiore but Kudos prime has me at 8 wins with an * and GT Sport puts me at 7 wins. I know I have 8 since my wins are few in between, so what gives PD?!?!?

I was considering changing my pre-race message to "Warning: Group C. I brake early and often!"

The Porsche curves was another place I was actually making gains with the Jag.

That must have bee some bad drivers. I was zooming around GR.C on the outside in the Porsche curves in the SRT Tomahawk :)

My best lap in the Jag was 3:30.026, SRT Tomahawk 3:27.817 while it was slower on the straights.

YES!!! The red one.
That LM55 was too much. You kept it smooth. I think you were the only one without a penalty. You and the R92CP were completely fair. I went off because the car wouldn't turn. Slowed right down in 2nd gear and it felt like the front lost downforce .

Possibly. There were several cars I gained on in the curves. I did stretch the gears a notch so I wasn't bouncing off the rev limiter on Mulsanne. I suspect that also helped all round.

I'm driving stock, no changes. There were also plenty bad drivers in my races :nervous:

It was the Tomahawk btw I fixed it later, got confused. I drove too many cars today :) Lm55 was nice as well yet with the Tomahawk I got on the podium in my 3rd attempt with my fastest race so far, 18:18.395. Still so slow compared to all the 17:30 Audi R18 first place finishes :/ I'm guessing those are tuned as I didn't get anywhere close with the stock Audi. My last 3 races I got timed out again. 18:38 race time is too late! I do sit 40 seconds in the pit though :banghead:
