Three disconnections in a row for race b - not happy !!!
Restart your PS4, I had a few yesterday none after the restart, read somewhere once you get one you will keep getting them til restarted.
Each time was before I got to the track and it was saying about getting track/players ready.Welcome to my world! Since the update I have only been able to do one race, immediately after my machine had installed the update. After that one race I have been trying at least a couple of times a day with no success. I hope there is a patch for this soon
.
On Race A yesterday it happened to me me twice. But I didn't save. It happens in practice too.
Randomly at the same spot the car just steers into the wall.
A technical question for a rookie. In this lap around Nurburgring GP (time is set to the crucial moment) Hamilton takes this long corner with second gear engaged.
What I normally do is I carry a lot of speed and let the car 'coast' in 4th gear and I correct with trailbraking, it feels quite fast.
What is the advantage of reducing to second and then accelerate with throttle control? is it about grip? is it about early power exit? I have seen a lot of A+ youtubers do the same. Still intrigued.
so the important bit there is to keep that same line? You mean the hairpin at the bottom ? How fast you enter that corner is not that important it's all about getting a good exit to carry as much speed as possible out of it. It's uphill after that corner and the S bends after is usually flat out so a good exit out of the hairpin will benefit you all the way to the the left hander on the top of the hill.
I think Lewis his line looked good but the important bit is focusing on getting good exit speed. If you come in hot and then coast trough the corner it may feel fast but you are probably only gaining a tenth or 2 max on entry while possibly loosing half a second or more on the straight. If you enter a bit more controlled you can accelerate much earlier and faster out of the hairpin and like i said that will benefit you all the way to the left hander on the top of the hill.so the important bit there is to keep that same line?

Have a look at this video. Very good explanation on how to attack certain corners. Should help you out I think.
Yes Scott does a great job of explaining everything there is to know about racing cars. And nearly all info is applicable in sim racing as well so if your starting out or looking for more in depth knowledge about racing I definitely recommend having a look at his channel. Hell, even a seasoned veteran might learn a thing or 2, very good stuff !That is a top channel for driving/racing tips.

I ended up restarting my machine and the next race I actually started the race
make a secondary account in the same PS4 and PS plus will allow you to play online, so you can have a 'have fun' accountI would love to be doing the Mini race all week but it murdered my ratings on the two attempts I tried. I'm still trying to recover SR from a disastrous Gr.1 race at La Sarthe so don't want to risk it - it's too easy to get in trouble when side by side through the S bends or the final corner.
So instead I'm doing Gr.2 at RBR and loving it. Not setting the world on fire or challenging for wins but my DR is increasing for the first time in months. I love the standing starts, usually pick up a few places there and then it's just surviving T1 and keep your head.
If all goes smoothly I should get back to SRS tonight. Should I risk it all on an FIA race? Hmmmm.

Why did you remove the furry dead weightDear race diary,
For some reason, I couldn't get a snug fit in the cockpit. Upon closer inspection, there was some furry dead weight on the seat. Small matter. I removed it and carried on.
I knew I would have limited seat time this week due to some late nights at the day job, so I just picked Race C to get a feel for Red Bull Ring. Did up a quick livery on the Lexus (since the top times looked like a GT-R one-make), jacked into the PSVR matrix and did about 30 hot laps. For some reason, this time I turned off the cone markers for the first time since I got the game at launch. Since the tyre update, I've been playing with ABS Weak (all other aids off). Not having the cones forced me to find other visual markers for braking. After a few laps, I could brake later and later, with conscious effort to trail brake, get turning grip while braking deep and shave off tenths. Managed 1:24.8.
Jacked out of of the Matrix, went to Sport Mode and contemplated setting a qualifying time. I had a good time starting from the back the last couple of weeks. But the DR gain was painfully slow when you're not fighting for a podium. And at B/A, I need all the points I can get. So I decided to qualify. Going from VR to 2D was like looking at the world through a slit in a mailbox. Took a couple of laps to adjust, but still never got the braking and flow down like I did in VR. 30 laps later, I only managed 1:25.6, slower than my VR hot lap by almost a second. Oh well. Will try again, but I'm getting a feel for the track and not having cone markers.
