Why did you remove the furry dead weight
You do not remove the furry dead weight

So far, the Lexus' handling is ok for me. If I need some ballast to fine tune the balance, maybe I'll put the furry dead weight back

Kaz has talked about the physics in PSVR being the 'best it has ever been'... Is there any evidence that the PSVR and 2D timed laps being quantifiably different? Do you find you can usually match your PSVR times in 2D, and this is just an aberration, or is this usual?
Personally, I think the VR physics model is identical. I do get a better sense of depth through the cockpit and when looking out for braking markers. In 2D, it's just that little bit harder to judge distance. I think the discrepancy in my time is down to that and my inconsistency, nothing to do without the physics model being different.

That's good 👍

There is a geometric apex (halfway round the turn) and a racing apex (late apex). The idea of a late apex is that you can get on the power earlier and you’ll have more speed on the following straight, the longer the straight, the more you’ll benefit.

That's fine in theory, but once in the middle of a daily/weekly race, that line will get you smashed off the track and into the nearest barrier/sand trap/all-of-the-above when some scrote decides to dash in and brake late up the inside :sly:.

I didn't seen a sign of maintenance yet. Normaly it's announced in a little yellow screen.

Try that in GTS and there are at least 3 cars in that gap

Day 2 of Red bull ring, more dirty than day 1
daUc.jpg

It was a full SR.S room at the start of the race. No clue how I survived that.

Spidey is out on Friday. Unless KP shows Nurburgring 24 for next week's race C, it might be time to eject the GTS disc from the console. In 4 races I had one decent battle for half a lap, the rest was all dodging cars or play catch up after getting bumped off. Fun factor is dwindling. Bad track PD, bad track limits, bad ghosting, useless penalties melting away at T2.

All I can say is wow right now. So Race C is my first grid start w. false check experience.

Race 1: Uhh you wait for 3 DOOTS right? Apparently not. Podium to 11th for me...

Race 2: Ok, you wait for all 5 lights and then go? Nope not that either...

So I look up a YouTube video. apparently you just sit there, wait for all the lights to illuminate, and then the game randomly says Start. And that's when you go

What the @:$&/&/$4 is the point of this?

I just lost 2 podium finishes to this crap. I'm sorry but PD implemented this in such a ridiculous way on purpose as a "gotcha" to allow for more passing opportunities. Why else would it be like this without any explanation?

I thought the lights were intuitive. Maybe they could've done better by showing a green light instead of it going off, but the current method of the lights going off is the most used in real life motorsports

I know I'm in the wrong and I was just ranting. But GTS has so much handholding, it's crazy to me they didn't explain this in either the Campaign or Racing Etiquette. They just plop you there expecting you to know what to do.

My only issue with the standing starts is that I didn’t actually check the race settings prior entering my first race and got caught off guard. I even went as far as to practice my rolling starts during the entry period.

 Like "guess the track limits" "guess the workings of the DR/SR systems" "guess whether rubbing is allowed or not" "guess the fuel consumption for cars"

The false starts are fun though when you start last. Last race I was in 8th before T1 (from 18th) after all the confusion from people crashing into stalled cars. Of course then I got punted off in T2, such is the track...

I was more referring to the "oh, you've gone off track, let me teleport you right back where you left off"

but I'll admit, you got me there!

Try starting an EU account. I assure you the racing is much better there when you get to somewhere around DR B-A 👍

No quali runs won't work there anymore though

After a horror show at RBR I've settled for sprint racing at Nurburgring. I decided to go with the Peugeot VGT and it has been very good so far with a couple victories from pole and a couple podiums behind the fast guys. I've managed a 1:58.6xx so far.
The Peugeot has got great power and straight line speed. Its major weaknesses are the flat spot in 2nd gear coming out of T1 and an apparent lack of rear downforce in the Schumacher S. Still a lot more fun than being rammed in every braking zone at RBR.

I've never had a problem with the starts. As soon as they change from pre-race to race, my thumb has the stick at full throttle .

Thanks man, this explains it very well, now I get the idea. It consist basically of going a bit to the outside to have a better line (straighter) when approaching the apex, the straighter the faster. Makes sense. is just like the whole Willow Spring race, go outside to attack the inside faster.

That's fine in theory, but once in the middle of a daily/weekly race, that line will get you smashed off the track and into the nearest barrier/sand trap/all-of-the-above when some scrote decides to dash in and brake late up the inside

You are right, but what @ThePhantomAli explains is very valid for a good qualy, in these weekly race you can improve your line for days and then get a top split lap and fight for victory in race.
As you say, since you have to go outside to 'attack' the apex, a qualifiying line could expose you completely and get you out of track in race. So in race we protect the inside line (for the first lap more or less, when the race is settled you can start improving times again).

Thanks for the explanation @ThePhantomAli

Made a return to Sport Mode the last couple of evenings and it's been generally great. The odd divebomb and even someone running me off track on purpose but generally side by side wheel to wheel racing. It's been a blast guys :)

What is the racing like in Race C (Red Bull Ring) for this week, is it easy to gain DR/SR?

I've hit rock bottom again this morning as had to rage quit a Mini race due to being rammed constantly affecting my SR/DR and then had
a disconnect during a race so my DR is back down to a pathetic 1950, SR is 44 points which is okay (B) but should I just bite the bullet
and loose it all and reset or try to race through the pack to get my points back?

First time in a while I've been rock bottom but it's beginning to frustrate me again as seems impossible to get out of SR B trap.

Better than not racing Darth, its a lot of luck for Race C is was just running 2nd after missing most of the 1st corner melee and then got punted into the sand before the lap was out by someone who thought I was their brake. Finished last off course, the race prior was cleanish and I finished 3rd but the main thing is watching your mirrors early as its a long old race when you have been in the gravel and every one else is off in the distance. Since you haven't a lot of DR to lose you could drive at the back for a race or two just to bag a little SR?

If you have one of the highest DR in your lobby, it's easy to lose DR. I like this combination (GR2 and RB Ring) but it's very annoying to race against people who are going to crash into other drivers, especially in the first corner. Monza 2.0

Fair enough, I haven't put a qualifying time in for Race C on the thinking that if I try racing from the back it's a nothing to loose result
since I will improve anyway. so I will see how it goes later on after work.

The key is in @adriancr___ 's comment "It's Monza 2.0"

Personally Nurburgring GP is more enjoyable, the Mercedes AMG GT3 is lovely in this track, seems like designed to brake lap records here.
True, the first corner is difficult, but if you stay in the exterior at the begining it should be all right, I didn't get out in that first corner this week, not yet.
Far better than redbull

I tried Nurburgring and got punted in 1st corner but the game decided to "reset" my car so I had to redo turn 1 again and got punted by the
masses who were still recovering, will try it again but I need a better lap time as 2:00 is putting me mid-field and need at least a 1:58/59 I
suspect for a better start.

Just got reset on Race C, I got punted and the red mist came down when I caught the guy up he had been working hard at being a pain in the ass and had accrued 14 seconds of penalties.
Unfortunately for both of us I caught him where he punted me off turn 5 I think it is I couldn't resist repaying the favour and knocked him off into the gravel, I knew I shouldn't but was so mad at the idiot.
SR B to E but only myself to blame off course at the end he was one off 4 DNF racers. -6000 DR and -35 SR. Of course its the FIA races today too and am busy until this evening so my evenings races are not looking great right now....

In the same boat in DR D/SR B so guess there's a possibility we might end up seeing each other in tonight's races.

I'm mid pack of C rank, but is so boring that I'm going to drop myself back to top D (I am unbeaten in FIA in the D category). Is way more fun. All my races in C have been solo, midpack no man's land, no close racing, just solo-boring stuff. I understand now Fernando Alonso (not exactly the same circumstances but you know what I mean:lol:), is not really fun. When you find more fun and close racing with PCARS IA something is not ok.

I recomend that you follow the teachings of Master @Tidgney and Monsieur Kie25 in their respective youtube channels, thanks to them I can now race like never before.

Is anybody else having disconnection issues today? I've made three attempts to join a Race C and get disconnected every time on the transition from the 'joining' screen to the lobby. Euro region. Anybody else?

Or you can just hog the inside line with a tight entry and exit... Particularly effective when defending.

Oh yeah, for sure. But being a new track, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to go barrelling into Turn 1 like I did at my first run at St. Croix. :O

Haha yeah that was quite the shock when I went back to GT League last week and sat waiting in the gravel to be put back on the track after hitting the spinning out AI out that refused to ghost.

It probably will be as I'll be driving with a massive lag advantage in the middle of EU's night time.
