Just had my (unnecessarily) hardest race in Gran Turismo so far.

Race C:

Before going into the pits I put my fuel back to 1, but I guess I pressed it one too many times and as a result the cursor was on the Cancel changing tyres button.

Well, because it’s routine by now I just mashed X. I thought I ****ed up big time. Was running second and saved a lot of fuel (29 in comparison to the others >10). Came out with an 8 second lead. The remaining 6 laps were absolute hell and I was losing 1 second per lap because my car was sliding all over the place, less and less grip each lap.

Thank goodness the two guys behind me were battling it out instead of just gaining time on me. Never had to concentrate this hard to get the maximum out of the little rubber that was left and ultimately went on to win with about a 1 second lead.

I swear to god I braked 5 cars earlier than the car in front of me at Turn 1 on Race C, and I still managed to punt 3 people off of the track at the apex. 4 if you include the warm up lap. So I ended up parking my car until they regained their position, meaning that I was now permanently in last place. I felt like a sheep herder back there.

I passed two people in the last few laps just running a lean mixture and putting in more consistent laps.

I’ve always wanted stricter track limits but I’m a competitive driver. I’m not going to give up just for the sake of trying to be pure and not “abuse” track limits when the game cleary doesn’t enforce these limits. It’s a game... If it wasn’t a game, you would be qualifying for these races instead of putting yourself in a tough spot by consistently starting last. Just saying :)

True, to be competitive in this game you have to use every available exploit. I just can't bring myself to drive over the white of the flag to become competitive. Isn't that disrespecting the flag :)

However you are quite wrong about putting myself in a tough spot by not qualifying. It's a much easier spot to start in! If I qualify I end up starting in the middle. (won't use exploits either while qualifying, nor do I have much patience for qualifying, 3 laps was usually my maximum attention span for driving alone) I see what happens mid field every race in T1 and make up 8 positions or more in T1 while starting last

I'm only 'competitive' on tracks like Monza, Brand's, and Tokyo for the strict and unforgiving track limits. Sarthe is long enough to be competitive without abusing Tertre rouge, yet that half sec loss on RBR every lap is a bit much. The field does sort itself out quite quickly and in the back I hardly ever see anyone abusing T1. The problem is when one of the front runners gets knocked off and ends up in the backfield.

PD needs to get their **** together, it's been 10 months, still releasing tracks with broken track limits and not fixing the existing ones. Actually braking Sarthe while only the last chicane had a problem. Also why are there no penalties at all in GT League. I did a 2:12 lap there on Sarthe trying to get a penalty lol. I do remember being able to trigger time penalties in the special stages, however the reset to 0 for no reason without slowing down. Going straight at Monza did that. Which reminds me, the AI cheated on me too at Monza before. Tried to dive bomb me in T1, overshot, reset after the corner and was long gone when I got through it lol.

At Monza there are ways to cut the track as well. Tap a car, cut the chicane for free, other car gets a contact penalty and your short cut penalty is waived. It's a game so that would be a valid tactic as well....

Group 2 around the RBR is great fun, first lap is a bit sketchy and i got punted from the lead in one race at the end of the first lap but also won a race from 6th last night. I cannot seem to string a qualy lap together, pasted a 1.24.8 but managed a 1.24.1 on tyres that were 4 laps old in the race, so you gotta think i have a 1.23.5 in me somewhere.

With this combo, i definitely have better relative pace with worn tyres than fresh.

Since I was having some joy in actually getting past the garage background screen yesterday, I thought I'd put the PS4 into sleep like I usually do instead of shutting down, and see if I could still race tonight. Success!!! Race B with the rexy. I was able to do qualifying laps with times within 10ths of my love bug times, so I didn't feel guilty using my Beetle time for qualifying :p. Started P10/14. at SR99, race matching still seems to be working. The grid was a mix of DR/C and D.

The race starts and I'm dropped at the final corner and try my best to stay on the track and get moving. The cars in front who started on the strait pulled away, so no chance of them getting in the way of my braking for T1, and the people behind me had been held up just enough from being further behind the corner at the start not to rear end me at T1. All in all win :D.

Having survived T1 I then just focused on trying to adjust to the difference in handling that always occurs between qualy and race. I had some people getting close but no one really had a go at ramming me. All in all a surprisingly clean race. Not sure what happened to pole position, but I found him dogging me for the last 2 laps. He'd get close enough to appear on radar, then he'd be 2s back. People make up time on me in a couple of places so I often find any lead I have evaporates towards the end of the race.

Somehow I managed to keep ahead of him and the finish:

Pretty surprised with that result :D.

SR maintained, DR up nearly 200. Think I'll quit while I'm ahead tonight . Day 6 visiting DR/C :D.

Where are you quick and where do you struggle?

I am handy around the ring Gp but since the new tyre model appeared I am struggled to eek out good times, i need to push incredibly hard to get down to a 1.59.5, and often run 2 seconds a lap slower than that.

i struggle relative to others through the right hander onto the back straight and the transition from the awkward left after the Mercedes complex to the hairpin right.

Where are you quick and where do you struggle?

The new tyre model has wreaked havoc with my times. According to the map T6, 7 and 8 I'm going a lot slower than I used to be able to. I'm fairly quick through Shumy , T12 and the chicane. It also doesn't help that handling changes in the race from qualifying.

Next weeks races:
N200 - Red Bull Ring Short - 7 laps - Grid Start
Gr.3 - Blue Moon Bay Speedway - 10 laps - Rolling Start
Gr.4 - Lago Maggiore GP - 8 laps - Fuel x7, Tyre wear x8 - Rolling Start

Race C for me.

Raced a handful of times yesterday at Red Bull Ring. First qualy time I settled for was 1:23.0 in the Lexus. Had a few races with it and had mixed results. One win and a couple podiums, but got punted a few times in lap 1 and that typically puts you in last place or close to it. At DR A+, if you don’t finish in the top 3 you’re probably losing DR, so I figured I’d improve my qualy time a bit. One time I was punted to 16th and made it back to 4th....still lost 100DR, lol.

So I decided to try the GTR again, as I sucked with it the first time. After learning the track better I quickly realized that the GTR was the way to go for me. It seems to have much better turn-in while trail-braking, which I think is key here for setting a good time. Managed a 1:22.5, which was good for the #45 time on the top 100. That was good enough for either pole or 2nd/3rd starting position every time. I seem to be pretty good with the standing start so I usually had enough of a gap to avoid T1 and T2 carnage (but not always, smh).

Ended up getting another 5 or 6 wins and a few more podiums. As long as @Decambre95 wasn’t on the track I had a pretty good chance. He was the fastest driver I met there all day. Putting up 1:22’s in race! Impressive man, well done!

Taking today off from racing so I’ll see you guys again on Saturday for FIA.

:gtpflag::cheers:

Race C for sure unless that N200 is the Lancia with its sexy sound!

Today I tried race C and the result is?
Now I'm in category A A... I really don't understand how all the drivers A S like me, drive like drivers E E
Someone have a reply for me?
It's a nightmare to race in this way.
This afternoon I was A S with S at 96 point, now my DS is 79 point, in only 1 race... Is simply a ****

Like how next weeks races are all more than 4 laps.

I want to drive clean and fair but with this mad guys, how I can?
It's impossible...
Tomorrow I will try again the race B because Seems to be more '' fair''

A and B for me, I think.

Had 8 races today and now all of a sudden after the screen of where it searches for other drivers it kicks me right back to the enter screen of race a b and c, again and again this really sucks

Next week should be fun. Abarth 500 for Race A? Maybe the M3

a full week of blue moon? the dream

Well that's the eject button for me. Lago Maggiore is sleep inducing in GR.1, GR.4 no thanks, N200 too slow for me and Blue moon bay would be the end of my SR/DR as I can't resist draft bumping, which always ends in a DR reset. Spider man it is.

You mean SR.S, that's way too civil for SR.B even.

This is more like SR.E

Well PD **** the bed with those race choices for next week. What a horrible selection, looks like a week off for me.
Switch Gr.3 and Gr.4 and I'd be happy. But another week of boring Gr.4 Meta Cars? Ugh...

I'm sorry, but have you actually played this game online before? As bone_tone said, penalties are rounded up.

Penalties are rounded up at the finish, so your 0.1 secs became 1.0 secs - incentive for them to be cleared before the end of the race.

Really bad races, with the one red connection players. Didn't even ruin my rce by crashing into me. I just let them go ahead. I had one in front and behind.

One of them, crashed about 3 players into T1. We were both last place mind you. Then, me in the red line connection sandwich, I just backed off the throttle. Just ruins it because I'm waiting for warp speed crash or the genie "*Poof*Whaddaya need? *Poof*Whaddayaneed? *Poof*Whaddyaneed?", right in front of me. 👎

Love the fact that the second guy has his mobile phone stuck on the windscreen - like he's expecting a call in the middle of the race!

Did one race, booted to start screen in next. Well that sucks..

It's probably for stopwatch since these cars are stripped naked. Very common in lower class tiers.
