The active player base is changing from one day to the next.It all depends on various things:car/track/day.
Also "hardcore" players (no matter their group) propably login every day and play as much as they can.Non "hardcore" dont do the same.
So one day someone can get matched up with others in the same "pool" (lets say DR A/SR S),but another day they'll match with player from mixed "pools" (DR S/A/B with SR S and maybe SR A).
Also the fact that higher rated pools have less players and you are getting matched withing your "region" only (Americas or Europe only -examples-) would affect the "matchmaking".
The DR B/A/S has more chances to getting matched with other DR rating drivers than DR C or D (based on the numbers of different "pools").
So what you say is 100% correct.But on the other hand you can argue both ways with valid points (if the players numbers can support another daily race or not).
 
What you also have to think about: just read here in the thread, there is quite a few people that say they don't want to race at all on a given day if the races suck in their opinion. So by adding a 4th race for sure you are also growing the daily player base a bit. Probably not by the 33% needed to keep it even in the short term, but possibly in the long term.
For example personally I really do want to improve with the Gr. 4 cars at this time, so I really want a Gr. 4 race every day. It used to be that way until a few weeks ago. But now with Gr. 1 always removing the Gr. 3 or Gr. 4 race you don't have Gr. 4 races half of the time, and even if there is one it is sometimes on ovals, where I also just don't want to race.
tbh this is getting a bit frustrating for me and in the long term I might even quit because of that, if the game doesn't really give me an enjoyable way of improving with the Gr. 4 cars (yes I could drive offline or something, but this is not really fun for me anymore).

In my opinion you could discuss whether growing the number of daily races beyond 4 races makes sense (e.g. I'd also like to have a regular one make with a faster N road car, these are always quite popular with the people on my friends list and myself), but having a fixed Gr. 4 and Gr. 3 daily every day is a must have, as well as the One Make N car is a must have. So that leaves dropping Gr. 1 or introducing a 4th race.

I am one of those who simply doesn’t race Sport mode when the car track combos suck. I think adding a 4th race would be fine. It would most likely be a wash when considering player base. The amount of drivers who would race because of the extra choice would probably offset the split because of the extra race.

When it comes to GR4, I’m pretty much done. Mostly try hards in FF cars dive bombing at every turn.
 
Im DR B driver and I had just enough time for two 10-lappers at Maggiore last night. The first race was at SR A and second at SR B. I qualified with a 1:46.3xx so this was good enough to put me in top 5 on the grid each race.

Both races were crazy dirty. I had one guy out on revenge for me in the first race due to an error (on my part) where I clipped him a bit in T2 and he spun and lost a a few places. I slowed down on the same lap to let him catch me giving up three positions to do this, but then he proceeded to divebomb or punt me in every corner, go wayy off course, then recover slower than me and proceed to rinse and repeat. Infuriating... but (as a medicated man of virtue... ahem...;)) I did not succumb to this onslaught. And I ended up finishing in 4th about 3 position ahead of this dude.

I know your first question: Dude, whats the point to this story?

Answer: If you get punted or divebombed.... calm down.... continue racing... place higher than the vigilantes:D

Not so much, not get used to yet.
I'm trying to drive everything without TCS and I'm far from competitive there...


Btw, my lobby was empty and was racing 5 laps with myself, neither that, I just waited to finish that fail.

I don't really feel guilty but I thought I'd mention it as I believe it's relevant as it does help consistency, sometimes I use it sometimes I don't, depends on the car. I know some of the guys that were in front of me do not use it at all, some of them may though I'm not sure.

well, we're the same rank and for what it's worth i use CSA and sometimes TCS 1 or 2 if i think i can go faster in a car with it. but gran turismo, wipeout, mario kart etc are all the same thing to me.. fun games to play online and nothing less. :]

Happens at 4.15.. is this a case of the penalty system working correctly or not working at all?

I dunno, 90% miss the braking point even in the Sambabus, so I am not sure I want people punting me before every corner in Gr. 1 :-/

That's true, was a sr 99 till the monza madness but I have had more fun building it back up then it just. 90% will bash into you but now and again you fine a clean one and it is funny when they miss or go from the top 3 to last when they are that bad. Would be nice to find some good lobbies that mix it up abit with cars and tracks with reverse grids and Dr and Sr being part of it

So you have changed the fuel map? I've drove two races here too and managed the fuel at map 1 for ten rounds only with short shifting

Looks like the second one. You had a line, the other Guy too. You lightly crossed eachother. Leaning on eachother, due to the spot on his car you spun him round like a American state trooper. :D. Looks like a flaw i guess.

Question for you, S-Man.

How are you getting your SR changes on a per-race basis? I thought Kudos Prime only gives you the net SR change per day logged into Sport mode.

I use this macro on the profile page, loads faster for me and is always up to date. Check before and after the race

Today I was that idiot. I started my first race on Nurb GP, start in 4th, thinking brake early don't be that guy. Then I zone out, imagining I'm back on Monza, wonder where my brake point is and find myself flying towards the apex. I try to miss the cars there, fail miserably, and take out Jara-71 :( I sit stunned on the shoulder while watching everyone go by. Then serve out my 30 sec penalty on the road (In PD's infinite wisdom you can only sit them out on the road lol) and start my race in shame. Finish 9th in the end and had some explaining to do lol. Jara-71 still won with 13 sec lead, only S/A player in the room.

Second race I redeem myself, start 4th again, brake perfectly, leave room, slot in behind 3rd and get taken out, karma I guess. I run the race without a pit stop, not really my style, finish in 8th.

Third race, start in pole, get passed in lap 2, taken out at the chicane in lap 3 to 6th place. Take a pit stop this time and finish 4th with clean race bonus after some close racing.

It only took 3 races to go from SR 66 back to 99!

Changing maps constantly. Maybe 2 laps at 1, then 2 at 2 then 3 till the last 2 laps. then 2 then 1 on the last lap. Something like that. I had to make sure to make people behind me struggle and waste tires and fuel so I would not in the end.

I find it easier to change maps. Having to remember to short shift would be bad for me. lol
 
I took the plunge and had a few races on BB Raceway, expecting a crash fest I was actually quite surprised that over 5 races I only got smashed once and drivers were generally pretty clean. I had a 0:25.443 in the FT-1, so no poles sadly but I sneaked a win and got 2 2nds, a 3rd and a 5th so not a bad haul for a typically dodgy event. The victory was in the RSR, also used the Beetle in some races.

Has anyone noticed framerate drops in the Gr.1 races? At first I was just noticing it in the replays, but last night I saw it happen during the Nurb GP race. Seems to happen most often when turning, but no idea why. This is on a base PS4 in bumper cam.

Is there any way to see the total number of people ranked? It makes a big difference if the total is out of 2,000 or 10,000.

This is what it looks like for me for Race A. Eigth in region, and 35th out of 17,357(edit: now out of 18,431)world wide, I'm pretty happy with that :D. It would show the totals in the others but I haven't done them.

Yes, T1 on Monza drops quite a few frames in GR.1 and I'm playing on ps4 pro. It might be worse on pro though with 4K.

I haven't noticed any drops today on Nurb GP, perhaps due to no crash fests in T1. My races there today were excellent. Sure there's still the odd bump from someone misjudging their braking point in the slipstream, yet only one bump per 10 lap race is the best I've had so far, can't ask for anything more really. One race, starting in 5th, the top 6 even went 3 wide through the first set of corners without a hitch. Miracles do exist. I was in the middle and caught traction first out of T4, nice kick into 3rd with the Porsche.

I did two races at Nurburgring and they were great. Almost no contact and close racing for 10 laps. I always seem to have good races there. Love that track even with GR1.
 
Was doing the bathurst gr 4 fia race last night qualified 2nd and as we were going through the grid I was booted with an error code.

Contemplated going to bed as it was 1030pm but then stuck around for the next one at 1110 because it was Bathurst. Happy I did as I managed to take pole by .6 and went on to win by 7s leading every lap and setting a fastest lap on the last lap. Final results showed and there was me with an Australian flag at the top and 19 Japanese flags below me
