The game rounds up penalties to the second. A 1.2 or a 1.9s penalty are both 2s penalties. Even if you have a 1.1s penalty you need to finish more than 2s ahead of the guy behind you to maintain your position if you are still carrying that penalty across the line.
Oh, I see, thanks! Yes, I did finish more than 2 in front of the next driver so got the position!
What makes it go down during the race??

Was another lonely drive at the front after a green flag that was hasslin me for the first two and a half laps suddenly fell back to 4...

You have to slow down and you will see the penalty go down.
Please go off the racing line when doing it. You will be ghosted while the penalty is reduced, but when you come back someone might hit you if still on the line.

You have to slow down below a certain speed in non braking zones and you will see the penalty start to count down. Certain tracks like la Sarthe and Nurburgring this happens naturally during the race. Places like Dragon you need to fins places like the start/finish strait and make sure you do it off the racing line 👍.

Can you tell me Doctor why i still can't get to sleep? Or why a Lambo's engine sound chills me to my feet? What's this rash that comes and goes? Can ya tell me what it means? Bob help me, I was the only Veyron...Last night chasing the Dragon. I went in with the tank. Those kerbs don't unsettle it but man does it take some work to get that thing to slow down and turn! I managed to beat my Viper time .. just . That put me P3/13 on a grid of two DR/As and the rest Ds... I guess that puts me on pole!!!. One of the 🤬 that hit me in the roach yesterday was in P10 but got promoted to P8.. two places closer to me .

Race starts and the two guys in front were overdoing it. one of the DR/As messes up the chicane all by himself and slams into a wall, which puts me in P2. I was following the other DR/A reasonably well when he started to come unglued. He spent more time as a rally driver than as a circuit driver . I had an opportunity on the corner before the bus stop, but I was following too close and couldn't adjust my line for a pass. That left me crawling through the bus stop because he lost a lot of speed and I wasn't prepared to try for a stupid move. That let the guy in P3 in the 'vette dogging me. I was sweating bullets with the gap no greater thah 0.7s :nervous:. I know the 'vette, he can out turn and out brake me. I was surprised i hung on the P2 as long as I did :scared:!

From there I followed as best as I could and I was giving him the same treatment he gave me. I was right on his bumper on the final half of the last lap. We were coming up to the bus stop, and I opted to play it safe.. the guy behind me was 6s behind and maybe the guy in front would stuff it up :dopey:. No such luck.. and I *still* managed to hit that 🤬 bright orange end of the Armco on the inside of the exit :banghead:. At least this time I didn't spin. I just bounced backwards and slid across towards the outside exit wall and had to drop to 1st to get going . By some miracle the 6s lead I had only shrank to 4s when I got to the final corner, so P3 for me :p.

SR up 5, DR up nearly 800 :dopey:. Another day above DR 1 :D.

@sturk0167 thanks. I didn't make it. I have no talent or patience with the editor, all my race liverys are from the internets also. I do some basic paint and rims but if you see me in a full blown livery i definitely didn't make it lol

Had three, or was it four, more races not sure thb lol ... wake and bake can do that to ya. They were good, exept one with a guy who i felt like had singled me out for a fight. Every time i tried to pass hime clean he would hit me. He even side checked me off the track a couple times. I still managed to beat him in the end, with a huge smile on my face when i passed him CLEAN on the last turn of the race. Got a couple more wins, poles, and podiums. A good morning of racing.

I really hope we get a good n300 or 400 combo next week for the a race. Brands full circut or mount panarama (they did before) would be cool for something different. I really perfer the road cars and feel like we have been getting boring combos for a long time low, with the recent mustang at willow race being a rare treat.

Bit delayed I know, but....Something like this maybe?

That is awesome!! Looks so much better than the couple stickers I slapped on the 911 for a Suzuka race. Noobie me didn't think the automatic door number sticker through either, so it's half covered as well :banghead: How do you turn bitmaps into decals?

Good racing last night. 5 2nd places on Daily A. Finished the night in a demolition derby but still managed to claw back 3rd on the last corner (I race bumper cam but 3rd person in vid will show what happened better);

This morning I decided to sell the dog and put the kids up for adoption. Started 5 and climbed to 1st by L3. Had a 1 sec lead on L9 when the kids start fighting with me over the dog. I picked up a 1 sec penalty on L10 T1 and had to give up the win scrubbing it. Had to apologies to the missus for the language that followed.:banghead:

Ha, I made the mistake yesterday of braking away from a hug since the race started. I wonder how many years I'm going to pay for that  And my car still ended up in the dirt at the start.

Last races on the B.... late night here and there are some super fast racers out (mainly from Japan!). Started 15th out of 15 (:O) and number 14 had a qually time over a second faster than mine.... I was left in the dust and decided to spend the time reducing SR by doing that turn around, wait for the disqualification notice, reset etc.

Will see where I am tomorrow, hope to be a lot less than S and get into some slower rooms!

Only time for one race this afternoon before the kids took over the PS4, but was feeling reasonably confident as i broke my qualifying time three times while waiting for the race entry. Started p7/p15.
I should really know better by now. Guy in a M4 smashed into me on turns 2 and 3 leaving me in 13th. Overtook a couple of places before one decided to try to divebomb on the entrance to the bus stop. Side by side we go with him pushing me into the wall - back to p14.
Managed to climb a few places until I found the M4 on the start/finish straight. I caught up and he ghost/unghosts as I slipstream him, which I manage to avoid. Catch up again at the top of the esses and he does it again. Avoided him again but was happy to take the 2 second penalty for introducing him to the wall at the next bend. Finished 8th.
I like this track but not the racing this week. Fingers crossed for some decent combinations tomorrow.

In the stew pot

Its messy in here

Had a reset from DR B SR B down to DR 3k SR 14

To heck with it 5 or 6 punts on bobo who hit me ahhh DR 3k SR 1 lets start again lolol see what I can do at DT S in Gr4 One Day left

Tried 2 consecutive morning races at DT. Very tight. Full SR-S/Dr-A/B. Almost identical grids in both races.

Started 10th in the first. Missed bus stop lap 1. Very costly. Could not close the gap. At all. Finished 15th. Around 2 seconds behind 14th. As far as I know, no one else made mistakes.

Start 8th in the 2nd race. Held 8th up to the last turn. Had a 2 second lead in front of 9th and 10th. But had to slow in last sector to avoid a car and my lines got awkward. Finished 9th.

May try again later. When I'm ready to get my butt kicked again.

Race B is REALLY difficult to increase SR. I had a race with 3 contacts, no penalties and no corner cuts. My SR was White at the end.

2 of the contacts were the most tiny inconsequential nudges too. I nudged a Huracan from behind through the first chicane and I was nudged from behind through the esses. Neither of these caused anyone a problem. I had a bigger contact at the hairpin where someone dive bombed the car behind me and then hit me at the apex. It was a pretty big contact but nobody went off the circuit and it was at the slowest corner so no real harm done.

That was it. The rest of the race was clean.

I'm a believer that SR should be difficult to get but that was a bitter pill to swallow!

I stood alone this morning and faced the 911 onslaught. They were in front of me, behind me, it’s like there’s no other car in the game.
What happens is you have a couple quick ones at the front and the rest waste their tires towards the end of the stint.
I didn’t take mys of out starting 8 and was up to five at the end of the first stint when out of nowhere this Canadian misses his brake point at the chicane and BOOM.
I woke up ghosted with maybe 8 cars all around me ghosted and in varying states of recovery...
I punched it into the pits and came out 8.
I was up into sixth with no 911 buzzing around like flies on %&#$.
Somehow I had collected a penalty from the mess at the end. Interesting also I had a disappearing reappearing car in front of me also at one point wtf.
I’m not good at burning pens so I was like sixth is good...lol try eight.

Ha, I made the mistake yesterday of braking away from a hug since the race started. I wonder how many years I'm going to pay for that  And my car still ended up in the dirt at the start.

Our Couch is setup like a mirrored L while my „racing“ seat is on the short leg and her „Reading“ seat is at the end of the long leg. On Tuesday I was in B on the short stretch between the fast right kink and the sharp right hander leading to the backstretch valley-esses part. She got up and stood right before the Apex. It was like „Eeey DARLING!!!“ - „GAAAH SOOOORRYYYY“

When are they gonna fix the bug where you're about to enter the free practice, and you get booted to the Sport Mode menu? It's getting seriously annoying. I heard one fix is that you can reset the system after every race, but that sounds tedious.

I got my DT time down to 46.0 this afternoon, there’s still so many places to improve but it’s nice to see at least a little time come off. Thanks again for the advice yesterday @Winnie847 it definitely helped. :)

Nice work man! 46.1 is the fastest time I was able to get in the Viper before I reluctantly switched to the Lambo. I see you've achieved no-lift status through the chicane of death....congrats, that's a milestone. Now, just never do it in race unless you are the gambling type, hehe.

I can see that you left about a half-second in the first sector on this lap. There are a couple small things here and there in the rest of the lap, but most of the remaining time (at least to get to 45.0) are in the first couple sectors. T2/T3 uphill chicane, if you turn in just a bit sharper you can cut the left kerb a little bit with 2 wheels and it will give you a better entrance/exit going up that hill. In your video, once you pass T2 you still have to turn wide to the left a little bit in order to attack the right-hander, which you shouldn't need to if you approach T2 differently. Imagine yourself going straight through the chicane and you'll save a tenth or two there.

Then you made a mistake crossing over the T4 kerb, I'm sure you know that, but it compromised your braking and entrance into T5. I think if the car hadn't been unsettled and you were able to effectively brake on time, you could have turned in a little earlier and clipped more of that inside kerb. This is a difficult turn because of the bank and sharp incline on the exit, so momentum through it is most important. My best first sector I think has been 35.4.

Other than that, maybe just try to keep your path through the esses a little bit straighter. Everything here is just nitpicking, you've put together a really good lap and now we're down to the finer points!

Last day to make the top 10! Keep grinding my friend.

Thank you very much again for the advise, it’s greatly appreciated Sir!! It slowly feels like it’s coming together, Optimal is down to 45.5 now. Hopefully I can pull one off today and move up another chunk. Thanks again. :)

Today I got my proof that GT Sport makes you a better driver.

I went to Kitchener to pick up a new laptop as my current one is falling apart (5+ years old). On the way back a car swerves into my lane, he was in the left lane, I'm in the right. I automatically and smoothly moved with him, keeping the same distance between the cars while placing my right wheels on the emergency strip next to the road, all without thinking. Not slamming on the brakes (cars right behind me), no adrenaline, just simply move over, lift and get behind again like what happens 5+ times per race. No SR Down. I didn't even honk or thought anything of it, business as usual. Compared to over a year ago where I had a collision with another car in quite similar fashion.

Thanks PD and all dirty drivers! Better awareness on the road comes with the game. And radar should be a standard feature in real world cars as well!

No racing for me yet, got to set up my new laptop and migrate everything over. Then I'll be tempted to try out Forza Horizon 4 on the GTX 1060.
