cockpit cam in Audi R18 LMP1 is very restrictive, but I took that challenge on today's Brands Hatch GR1

Robben.. sorry but I got curious.. What do you mean here: "Had this a couple of weeks back. Holding R2 when it gave me control, spun immediately." ??? I don´t understood what that makes and how it can be used...
When the race countdown starts I always hold R2 (throttle) down so I am on full power once I have control. However, this one time I was started inside a chicane, so I had full power whilst autodrive had my wheels turned. So as soon as START was displayed I spun out.

It doesn't seem to appear much so I wouldn't have thought so. I used it loads in the early days but I think it got BoP'd down.

Try the Citroen if you are looking for something different :) I'm often the only person in a race using it

I will give it a go later. Im (enjoying?) the alfa right now. Not as popular either :)

Monza Race B last night.
I did eight (8) races at Monza last night and my over all DR was up when I was done.
But my SR was C ... It went from A down to C. Frustrating and I learned a lesson. Late night racing is not good.
The clip below gave me two penalties that pushed me down to C.
The first is not right in my mind. I basically just brush the white car.
In the second event I do tap the guy as I was impatient and was to close to react to his braking, and I actually tap him twice. (I'm sorry) but at the end of the day I did not get an advantage and then he went off as I was really holding back not to tap him again. (He was a bit erratic in his braking)

You be the judge!

So last night just did 5 races on Brands Indy in the A45. Again experienced weird grids, usually 1 x S, 3 or 4 x A and the rest B. I'm now up on 35000 so surely I should be being matched with all A? I can't help but think that the matchmaking must take Qualifying time into consideration... my time was good enough for position 142 in the region yet the majority of my opposition are B rank but the whole grid was within about 1 second of each other.

The first was unlucky, yeah... the second and third, you were simply too close and didn't allow for the fact you were behind another racer. In those situations, I always brake early... firstly, you have less chance of unfair time penalties for bumping and secondly, the other guy will usually be pushing hard as you are close behind and will often brake too late. By braking early you leave the corner much faster and have the opportunity for a clean overtake on the straight.

Your main problem though, is you are racing on Monza

Oh, and as for "you be the judge"... this is the problem... we are not judging, a computer system is :)

I got as far as the entry to turn one like there was no car in front of you, and the resulting bump pass... in turn one, on lap one, and stopped...
2 bump passes over turn 1 and 2 actually :)

Strange as this guy doesn't need to do that...

GTS player base is getting smaller and smaller and smaller (at least people that play Sport mode).
So as time goes by,lobbies -by using SR in order to do the matchmaking- have DR S drivers against 8 DR D drivers. Thus, making it more easy for "faster" players to farm DR points and level up -they also need more races to do that-.
I am sure that this is what is happening: people are either
- Drop/Quit the Sport mode
- Wait for things like the penalty system to start "working" until they start racing again in Sport mode.
Both leed to the same result.
I think PD is aware of this and they are trying to improve things with patches. If they manage to improve things,is something we have to wait and see.

This doesn't work though.. you can't gain anything as a S or A racing against D. The formula is:

(DRloser - DR winner)/500 + 80

So for an A driver with 34000 points (me) against a D driver with 4000 points the result is:

Step 1: 4000-34000 = -30000
Step 2: -30000/500 = -60
Step 3: -60 + 80 = 20 points

Hardly an "easy" and "fast" way to "farm DR points".

The same against a C driver of 8000 points is:
Step 1: 8000-34000 = -30000
Step 2: -26000/500 = -52
Step 3: -52 + 80 = 28 points

Even against a B driver with 15000 it's pretty worthless:
Step 1: 15000-34000 = -19000
Step 2: -19000/500 = -38
Step 3: -38 + 80 = 42 points

is the gr.4 Gt-R competetive on any track? I like it a lot but im 1-2 sec down from my times in any other car .
It's good on Kyoto, got a win with the Gr4 GT-R there, it's not bad on Dragon Tail too.

Either way the player numbers are dropping as time goes by and DR S drivers go againts DR D drivers.
So no "weird grids",only less players into Sport mode.

Well, 16500 people worldwide race on Brands Indy yesterday out of a total regular player base of 49000... so that's pretty high.

On Monza I started on pole, but I had no countdown timer... everyone else's car started moving (3...2...1...) and mine was just idle until the race start. Wtf?

You need to be more aggressive in T1...start wider left then cut across the bend before going wide towards the sand
Take the hairpin high for better speed down the hill
T4/5 you don't need to brake. Get out wide on the rumbles on the right, then as soon as you get to the cone (I use blue apex markers... less debris on the track) let off the gas and steer hard left, you should get to the rumbles on the left and be able to get back on the gas.

At first I was dabbing over that section too, but after watching @Spurgy 777 's replay from the EMEA top 10, I stopped and managed to set a 53.662 :)

The problem with the A45 is the massive understeer.... the quicker you can point forwards and get back on the throttle the better, even if it means taking corners slightly wider than you usually would

Had this a couple of weeks back. Holding R2 when it gave me control, spun immediately. Thanks.

Pausing for too long can also cause DQ... it warns you after 1 or 1.5 minute I think that you will be DQ due to excessive pausing.

Congrats! Hope to see you on Sport Mode... we have nearly the same DR :)

Awesome 👍
Maybe we‘ll see each other sometimes :gtpflag:

Thanks guys! I will keep my eyes open if i'll see you!!!

Will try them next time they come up! :) I did however beat my alfa quali time with the nissan. But in the race it feels slower (alsace today) It wont turn in :p

What moron decided to race Gr.1 at Brands Hatch GP.
That track is so damn narrow, I don't even think you could fit 2 cars wide on some of the back straights.

 yeah I avoid group 1 and Brands Hatch at the best of times. Needless to say I won't be on race c tonight....

They've always managed to do it in real life.......

I went to see the DTM on brands hatch indy IRL, it was a couple of hours of follow the leader with no overtakes. BORING!

The car drives funny, I'm too used to driving Gr4/Gr3 cars, I barely ever drive N* cars.

If you want to go up against grids that are at the very least majority A or S you need to be doing Daily Race B or C. Most top guys have little interest tootling around in a Mercedes A class.

Did we race lastnight? I feel like we did. I raced B 3-4 times.

I didn't push them off and they also didn't have to gave up their lines for me, they just let the inside open and i was going for it. They didn't even lost time because of my overtake. Not really dirty i think. The only overtake i'm sorry for is the orange AMG, but he really was driving like a roadblock before and was breaking way too early.

Which region do you race?
My quali time was a 2.01:4xx and in the "Americas" I got a full room of Dr.B/Sr.S... that was at about 4:30pm Arizona time... so... 7:30pm eastern...
I too am disappointed the stricter penalties only lasted a week... PD should have held their ground... was making for very clean racing.
Slippery... I find every race feels slippery... always just chalked it up to "it's my nerves"... :).

Im in the Eastern US, my quali was 2.02.0xx, but i was racing from 9pm-midnight EST (so 6-9pm mountain time)

Slippery-er-er than typical. Found myself sideways through a few corners more than usual. Usually on Suzuka in the 911 I run +3 or +2 BB and thats exactly what i did in the quali last night, but during the race i found my rear end would slide out in T1 unless I was at +1 or 0BB. I know suzuka is a notoriously slippery track but there were a lot of spin outs that i passed, and thiese were by individuals that I know typically dont make those kinds of mistakes very often.

Personally, I'd be annoyed if that was me... it looks like you used both cars as barriers to help with the corner.

The white car is an accident. I could be wrong, but after tapping the car in the chicane he goes a bit wide, and it looks like you try to take advantage and pass him, then hitting him again. You did get an advantage, you did try to use it, and it is a good example, because how should the game know if you got the advantage, and should it really care, you took the risk of being right up his bumper..
