Whoa. That's big news! I really disliked doing fuel economy races. It will be awesome if this new change swings some favor towards the pit-stopper. Everyone can just go flat out.

It's also a boost for the A/T users.

Thanks for the info. 👍

FWIW, I’ve just done my first post-update race C, and the top guys (myself included :p) didn’t pit.

Lobby was lower-A+ (NA) calibre.

Mediums go off at end of the race, tyre wear is far worse with a pad aswell
I'm on the pad also. I haven't done Race C yet as i've been busy. I'm planning to do a last to wherever race or two to rebuild SR from 71 to 99.

I have tried an offline mock up race to the same spec and I used race mediums. They went off near the end of the no stop and I spun if I recall correctly.

So i'm thinking race hard for my attempts. Slower tyre I know but i'm just aiming for consistency in my runs and not the win.

Not sure if this helps you. I know tyre wear can be an issue on DS4.

So what's changed that made pit stops faster? I'm going to be practicing FIA tomorrow, but maybe I'll be able to find time for a C race on my meme account to try out the one stop.

I know there's probably another thread for this, but...............

This Hamster's getting wetter by the minute! :D I really hope we see these conditions in future Daily Races, and at more tracks toooooooooooooooooooooooooo! ;)

Yes, that's what the daily races need. More reasons to slip and slide.

Hard pass on that idea.

Canadian impersonation day two.

It was all going well.

Then I encountered one of those fast Brazilians you've all warned us EMEA guys about.

JGyFzOm.jpg

See, we weren't kidding about them

To be fair, not all are like that, but boy, it's a rough crowd.

Oh this reminds me, if you ount someone off the last turn on race C, apparently there is No penalty, also, the person who gets punted, gets an SR down.

Had a go at Race C. Didn't realise I was on hards. Whoops.

I used hards last night and didn't need to stop for tires.

Speaking of tires and traction, did a few laps in the rain with the RSR and felt no difference. It looks cool but not sure it's actually doing anything with the grip.

Not a problem. I normally don't have any chance of winning a C race, anyways. But maybe now I can at least finish a little closer to the front.

I’ve just done another, in a much stronger lobby this time (some of the top 10 in NA were in there). Nobody bar one driver 1-stopped (from 4th) and he went backwards, though was catching my pack (5th-8th) very quickly at the end.

Had the race been an extra lap or two, he would have probably made up most of the ground he lost. They should have allowed soft tyres given the low wear multiplier; that would have made the 1-stop a lot more competitive.

A bit like Dragon Trail last week... unless you have a massive pace advantage (as in, you can sustain qualifying-style laps over a stint), and you are mostly in clean air, a no-stop will always be quicker. Especially given that the no-stop is feasible on the softer tyre.

Someone did a very good no-stopper on the GTR Gr.3 - perhaps worth a shot? How’s the tyre wear on that car?

Yeah, the rest of the Brazilians I've encountered have been fine. A little aggressive, as a rule (it's still early days though) but, that's nothing I'm not used to from southern Europeans. Not dangerously so, but noticeable.

This guy (S/S) evidently didn't like being passed around the outside through T1/2 by a C/S driver

Not exactly sure, but the explanation was something like we corrected a problem that made Sport and Lobby race pit stops take longer than Arcade mode pit stops.

I think yesterday was the first Monday since I started playing online that I didn’t do any laps of the Daily TT’s, feels kinda weird starting on a Tuesday.

Same here. I felt so out of place, that I was thinking about a new livery at work today.

Your name is NoStopN. I assumed that would be the only way you ride:cheers:

Just wait until you see the video I plan to post about one of the salty competitors I found in the lobby. He found out that I don't stop.

I tend to race as a fake Brit late at night here (probably about 5 am London time) so I tend to encounter some very angry, early bird Germans  so I know all about the angry Euros.

Aye, I've done a few all night sessions before. Things are pretty calm here between 9pm, and 4am UK time. The couple of hours each side of that, is where you get the angry guys. Well, maybe not before. I think that's just down to being prime gaming time, more people = more liklihood of being matched with punters.

Just had 2 "Bs", and a "C" race!! A couple of podiums, but I must say how well behaved everyone was..........I think all the nutters and bandits have gone off to play Wreckfest or something! :dopey:

I hope to start downloading that on Friday!

You have to set the "reduction in grip on track edge/wet track" setting to Real to get the rain effects, and you can't change that setting unless you do a 'Custom Race.' Slicks are quite useless once you get the settings right.

I did that setting and tried the new Honda on Red Bull short track.. practicing undriveable. Lol
The S2000? I was running pretty consistent 2:05s on the full course with the Wet tire. The 'Professional' AIs were like 10 seconds a lap off the pace  I'm pretty sure they're stuck on regular sports tires or something.

In race C, can you pit for soft tires or only hards or mediums? Is the strategy still to not stop?

I did my first race C In a long time. I think i started like 11th and I think I finished 8th .I made it up to 5th until someone punted me off. Happened twice in the race and I got a 3 second penalty. Sigh.

He rides a whirlwind, that cuts to the bone. Wasted forever and ferociously stoned...and the Karnival of Kaos kontinues at larger, I mean Interlargos.. *hic*. The slidey bendy grassy wasteland once again claims it's victims. First daily in over a week... my finger held up ok yesterday for the Goodwood 1h, so I figured I'd give Race C a go. Went in with the Aston, and after doing enough laps to be able to stay on the track, I had a spectacular time that had me starting .....P14/18... the last of the qualifiers . One again race fixing has me on a grid with DR/Bs and Cs. There was one guy I'd raced with before a few times, he was DR/D the last time I saw him... He's now B. Said "good luck" pre-race, and about a half the grid greeted him saying it was good to see him again . Popular guy .

Race starts in usual fashion, T1 was a battle ground fighting for real estate through the chicane. I managed to get through with no penalties. I was cruising along, short shifting (but not too short) and picking tall gears, which I think helped with tyre wear too. Think it was about lap 3 that I got a 0.5s penalty for taking just a tiny bit too much out of a corner.. suppose that's better than a puncture from a hidden rock 👍.

Around lap 5 people started to pit, and that continued for a few more laps. i had a few tussles and got knocked off a couple of times but generally things were ok. I was a bit more defensive, I wasn't going to let anyone bully me off my line. Still had people try passing on the inside... off the track.. hello? My tires are on the kerb... there is no more track on the inside :banghead:.

At one stage I was up to P9... sadly I coundn't hang on to it. I was hit from behind which launched me in between two cars about to turn so.. orange SR and a 2s penalty. In the end I finished P13 with 0.7 laps of fuel left and very unhappy tyres. I didn't start to notice the tyre wear much till the last two laps. Final lap I nearly lost it on the final corner, but managed to save the rotation from continuing into a spin. So.... Aston no stopper is doable 👍.

SR still 99, DR dropped nearly 300. Another day above DR 1 .[/QUO
It's possible to be too defensive.

It won’t be tonight unfortunately, my son got his first flat tire this evening, figures it’s a front tire, the car is FF, so I can’t put a dummy tire/donut on the front. So now I have to change two tires using the jack that was included with the car.

my son got his first car a couple of weeks back (Seat Ibiza 1.2 FR)... nice little sporty thing for a first car... but we got some 'FR' hub cap centres for it and found that between the 5 cars sat on the drive - none of them have a wheel jack!!

3 race B this morning. First race a faster player in a 4C was behind and tried to bump me before the hairpin. He spun, I got a 3 sec penalty and SR down. Ended up at my starting spot.

Second race was better, p8 to p5.
SR back Up, 97.

Third race a Spanish gentleman bumped and hustle his way through the field, I was behind him and passed him in the penalty zone. People ahead made mistakes and I finished p2, 6 spots up from start.

Back in DR C

Erm... was there supposed to be a comment there :odd:?

I know that feeling. Due to "family circumstances" I've been driving my fathers B200 for the past 5 years. Choosing to use runflat tyres is all good and well, but hello? You still need a jack and wheel brace to take the wheel off to plug a puncture. Apparently Mercedes begs to differ :banghead:. It has a jack/socket/wheel bar now :p.

Mercedes-Benz B200 :) ? There is 50% chance that car was made where I live (Kecskemét, Hungary) :) .

Only hards or mediums. As I said in an earlier post, they should have really made the soft available to allow for proper aggressive 1-stoppers, as the medium doesn't degrade enough.

It depends where you are ranked, but if you're in A/A+/S lobbies, no stop is the way to go if you can manage the medium tyres (which generally falls off the cliff around lap 10-11). Perhaps more people will pit following 1.43 update, but I haven't seen much of that so far.

Did a 1 stop on C taking fuel and tires. Entered in 3rd and left in 5th. The reduced pit times are game changing.

How much quicker are the pitstops compared to pre-1.43?

Our Ibiza came with both a jack and space saver spare wheel, some gunky stuff that'll turn your tyre to concrete if you can't be bothered to change it, and a pump that you could plug into your cigarette lighter! Very nice too. What I didn't factor when I bought the 1.4 Toca was that the wheels/tyres were a somewhat stupidly irregular size and therefore quite costly if you needed a replacement. Especially, if like me you get a bit ocd and do them in pairs!

The Ateca we have only came with the gunk as they wanted an heck of a lot more for a space saver in that one. Madness.

Talking madness - any clue why we dont have Seat in the game? Surely we could all do with a Cupra touring car addition!
