Tried race C yesterday. As you all said, it's pretty tough on the SR... I qualified well below my door number so I had to gain at least 5 spots not to lose any DR.
I was nearly there, when in the 6th lap I tapped a wall in the fast S, got a 5 sec penalty, and then the guy behind me hit me (not his fault to be honest...) And spun. I got another 3secs, so I was left with 8 seconds to serve and just 1 lap to go.:boggled:

Finished 13th (started 10th) with a lot of SR down.
Then I went to race A to make up for it, managed a nice and clean race in the yoghurt pots.:D
 
Had two goes at Race C today from the back of the field in the Jag. Fully expecting penalties galore ahead of me and planned to slowly make progress. First race went to plan, one guy had amassed 16s of penalties by the time he'd got out of T2. Any time there was a close group though I just backed out of it, determined not to get involved in a mess. Could have done better than my finishing position of 8th if I'd been more aggressive but at the same time could have got pinballed around.

Second race I decided to be a bit more aggressive in overtaking, but still keep a watching brief at the start because the first corner will be mayhem (I even said pre-race I had the best view of the T1 crash). Yeah, no mayhem, no crashing, not one penalty as everyone made it through the first two turns unscathed! Too aggressive overtaking an Atenza at the end of the start/finish on L2 and completely missed my braking point so made use of the wall to slow the car down. A South African in a Huracan obviously saw this and attempted to replicate my botched overtake the following lap - on me - with almost identical results. Recovered from the 5s penalty, caught and passed the Atenza at the start of L4, carried on making solid progress and ended up finishing 10th. Could have maybe done better again but took the guaranteed 10th (the guy ahead was carrying a penalty) rather than try to force my way past him in the twisty bits so as to challenge up to 8th. That 5s penalty was the only penalty I picked up in two races though so managed to look after myself fairly well.

Overall then two races,18 places gained, SR white then blue! What's everyone worried about Tokyo for?!! :lol:

(I've no doubt I'll be in trouble when I've qualified and am aiming for the front of the field rather than picking people off at the back!)

Nice one. I just had my first go at race B. Started p4, finished p13. I got dive bombed by someone who didn’t brake through turn 2 and got sent flying well into the run off and was dead last at 15.

Not fast enough on this track to recover many positions.

In one of the races yesterday I had a battle with p3, I passed him at T2 and he got on the gas too soon, spun out and somehow tapped me in the rear. I never felt it but got a 3 second penalty on the last lap so finished p5. Well, it was a fun battle and it wasn't on purpose so it's all OK
 
Hi all, I'm fairly new on here but just wanted to say these posts are so helpful.
Just got back from 2 weeks hols and updated, wet track looks really good.

Am going to get some practice later today, Mrs permitting, see if I can actually drive in the wet, who am I kidding I can't even drive when it's dry!

Decided to go back for more Lambo laps instead of racing, glad I did too. I’ve now got it down to a 2:07.7, good for #9 ATM. I’ve had .250 on that lap coming out of T2 a couple times afterwards but I ran the chicane so well on this lap that I can’t keep any gains made before it now. :lol:

That was a silky smooth lap right there. I'll be analysing your braking for sure. At a 2:08.4 at the moment but would love to get into the 2:07's if I can. Can't believe the top times are in the 2:06's!

If anyone fancies an extra challenge for Race C (!) then give the Cayman a go. It can do competitive lap times although not as fast on the straight but is much faster through the twisty section. It can make for some interesting racing.....

yes, i saw Kie in the Cayman yesterday on his stream.. big difference in the gear ratios as well, i noticed he was only getting into 6th gear right near the end of the long straight.

Thanks man, you can definitely do it! Those Aliens are crazy fast, Sub 7s Laps are just nuts! :)
 
Just had a go at the RBR. Ugh, still nasty. I feel like I have a handle on the track, but my qually time says nope. Starting 10th and gradually work my way up as people keep punting each other off and spinning. 2 3 and 4 had a 2 lap smash battle at the end as I rode 5th hoping to take advantage but no matter what they did no one spun, ran off or got a penalty. Dammit. Oh well, good points, but seems like the run off at the last turn is a free for all as both last two laps one of that pack in front of me ran super wide there but no one got a penalty. Somehow I feel quick enough there but my lap time doesnt reflect that. Although on my fastest lap I still lost 0.5 on one bad turn so ended up with a 1:31.9. Never have figured out how to get that time back after the next 20 laps.
 
Again:rolleyes: work together and and the dang leader won't get away! It's seven(7) laps! Don't end it at the start of Lap 2!

I move up to 2nd at T1. I'm right behind P1 the whole lap. Into T1 at the start of Lap 2 and I'm met with three cars on either side of me. The car I passed for P2(in an SLS), nudged me over and we lose time to P1.

3 seconds turns into 5 seconds. I followed it down the straight for the next lap to see how fast it is. 257km/h, that's it! At the end of the lap, I pass it through the tunnel and pull away. Huracan is 7 seconds by that point and turns into 10 for the remainder of the race.

I was gaining the whole lap, until the end of the tunnel and I can see the time starts increasing right after. Wish some players would learn to play the long game.
 
Alt account's SR is up to 47. It's getting harder to make any significant progress now as my DR approaches 20k (it's actually at 19999 :lol:), because the guys up front have relatively good pace and keep it clean. At the back however... it's hardly better than E/B. I can't escape lap 1 without a penalty.

Yeah, great lap, well done. I'm struggling hugely with the braking for the final corner for some reason. If I don't brake at the 150 board I'm not even close to hitting the apex(es). Need to get back to basics, I must be doing something wrong and it's getting extremely frustrating.

Thanks man, I was braking just before the shadow that crosses the road for the final corner and I just slamming down through the gears for the most part. Down shift to 2nd, then to first just before the first apex and try to cut off as much of the second apex as possible while matting it on exit. :)

omg today I was shockingly bad,
sliding all over the place at the Red Bull Ring and locking the brakes coming off at nearly all the corners unable to stop in time.

Maybe it’s my driving style but I can’t seem to find any grip at all and it’s not even raining, gonna give it up for a few weeks otherwise I’m just gonna end up ruining everybody’s races by being too slow, bye folks.

Nope. No boost, man. That's just the Huracan in a long straight line and a slipstream. The car has infinite top speed. I did 277 kph yesterday at the end of the straight because of slipstreaming and still wasn't even close to the rev limiter. If he was in a slipstream the whole straight, he may have been (and probably was) going even faster. It's great. You're just waving at cars as you're passing by. Such a shame there's no horn in this game. I would definitely honk everytime. :lol:

He was going the same speed as me not drafting, then lagged back a bit to get bumped by the car behind him giving him a speed boost. A lag brake check turbo boost :lol:

RBR is very much about slow in-fast out. Try turning the cones on for brake markers, start braking at the double cones then work your way closer to see where your personal braking point is.
I drive a MR on RBR so I brake rather early then power through the corner with a slight slide aiming for a late apex on most except t1

yes... i'm using that shadow as a reference... but i noticed you keep it tight to the left wall before turning in right so you square off the corner and then you're certainly flooring it earlier out of the corner than i do.. big savings to be made there if you nail it 👍

You got it, stay tight left as long as possible to make the corner as wide as you can. The earlier you can floor it on exit the better, the Lambo won’t spin out at all. :)

It’s the 2nd and 3rd corner that’s letting me down, I dunno when to brake especially on the 2nd it’s almost pot luck, the 3rd I brake just before the sign.

MRs are almost impossible for me to drive, I feel like I always have to be extra smooth with them over wise I get a ton of oversteer where as FRs seem to stick to the road but have slower acceleration.

I use TCS 2 , bb-1. Some of the MRs are very twitchy, but the Mégane Trophy in gr 4 and the Maclaren F1 GTR in gr3 are much more stable.
You should try @Mistah_MCA s YouTube guide for the track, it has helped me a lot!

Edit: there is no doubt that you can be faster with TCS off, but driving with the ds4 I prefer having it on, I have limited time to learn new tricks and as long as I enjoy myself in DR C I am competitive with it on

Day off work and have spent a few hours hot lapping the dailies.

A: Fiat 500 is boring as hell! 1:11.738 just for the easy K-Score points. I like the track (was good for the VW Gr4 races), but the Fiat is too slow. There are other N100 cars that would be better.
B: Tried my go to Audi. Didn't rate it here. In the Mustang....better, with a 1:31.150. Will try maybe try other cars this afternoon.
C: I like hot lapping this track. Used the Lambo for 2:09.380.

Will go back to races B and C as there is more time on the table for both.

Might race from the back on second account, but having problems with downshift paddle. Occasionally doesn't downshift or will downshift two gears. Annoying! I've emailed Fanatec, but they'll want me to send it off to them. I don't want to send it off as I want to do the Le Mans daily next week!

I normally drive with TCS:+2 ,
the brake bias is weird to me though, I’d expect it to have a greater effect on tyre wear but my fronts still end up cooked quicker with rear BB:+5
some cars also seem to come with a extra setting more often than not the rally cars 50/50%???
 
Good on PD for finally fixing RBR, that's just as good as a wet track to me. I guess they slipped that in to the last update?

It's one thing if they want to do an N series race B, I'm a racing fan but I'm completely fine with that. But FFS, why did they have to pair it with the longest track in the game? Race C is the wave next week

I managed a 2:08.1, good to see you're managing to stay that bit in front :) I'd normally be jumping at the chance to grind some DR with a Gr.4 Race C and an EMEA top 200 QT, but there's no way I'm racing on that track after my experience with the Nations Cup race there, and having seen both Kie and Super GT quit last night due to penalties. OTOH, with a QT less than 1.2% off #1 at the moment, it seems like a good one to do on my other accounts to game my K' Speed Score a bit more.

I did a race A last night, and it's a bit silly, the limited top speed meant we all moved around the track crammed together like a football. Someone after the race said "Tolle Runde" to me. I didn't know what it meant, so beat a hasty retreat, then used google translate, which produced "great round", so I suspect it meant "great race", phew.

This is the best I can do for now, it’s from this spring. I may be getting out this weekend for a live round though. :)

Average Driver SS is 115-118, but I’ve seen spikes as high as 128mph(Titleist 910D2 @ 44” w/ Aldila RIP Alpha 70x)







Don’t know my average 7i speed, average distance is 175y though. Irons, 712CB or 710AP2 4i-PW, Dynamic Gold S300’s with 3/8 steps from PW to 3i, 3i is a 716 TMB though. Wedges are SM5 or SM2 51*, 55*, 59*, and sometimes an SM2 64*. All irons and wedges are also 1* Flat. :)

Great width on the takeway, ideal shaft plane and you clear your hips great (helps that you have very good sequencing) -- clearly a swing you've put time and money into. Also helps that it would appear you have some good flexibility as well.

Now, I'm just going to quietly sit here and think about my whopping 210 yard drives and 140 yard 7i with my short stumpy arms.

That's power distribution for 4x4. If your front tires are worn out a lot sooner I think you are turning in too sharply. Try slowing down more before turning and then arch the turn.

Edit: to me the BB is most about the turn-in and the stability. BB - gives faster turn-in but less stability, BB+ gives more stability and slower turning.
