I always leave my PS4 in standby, then it's all updated and ready to roll when I start it up.

Tbh that was my normal go to behaviour, but I had the old HDMI power link to the TV set up and one or the other kept randomly turning on during the night and I was often getting up to go turn it all off again! So now everything goes off!

Plus my wife actually used it last to watch a DVD. First time GTS has been out of the drive in 6months...

With back to the racing I agree with how much the game changes depending on who you are grouped with. Getting back to SR S helped a lot at Brands. 3 races last night, pole on first and should have won, but got punted wide at surtees on lap one by winner. Know I should have won as I drove back to second and on the last lap was still catching him fast. 2 more laps and he was mine! Oh well. Still got gains for the race. Next 2 I am in the back of high powered lobbies. Drive clean, some minor bumping but mostly racing clean as it can be hard to keep 2 cars side by side totally stable, but bumps weren't enough for SR downs to appear so game must assume they were ok as well. Moved up well in both races, SR and DR gains overall. Lost some DR one race, but when it is clean and solid racing I don't mind. I can understand and deal with it when they are faster, not really when they are dirtier.

Yeah, I have to keep it quiet when I drive. Can't really hear it at all. Lounge sandwiched between daughters bedroom and ours so no sneaking either.

Edit: If I can fix my qualifying lap I will start much better at Brands. Currently a 1:30.9 but keepgetting optimal at 30.0. One race I started last at 14th, 3rd was a qually at 30.1 so could have made a huge start.

I'm done with Gr.4 for a long while. Not because of any player or frustrations or any bad vibes, etc. it's because of this thing

I've supremely spoiled myself by running it in Gr.4 races since the update. I thought I'd run all over the AI in Custom Races. Sure, I've only been doing 2 lap races and starting from the back. Thing is, I was indeed hoping the GT4.R would come at some point and almost don't need it, for now.

It feels exactly like a Gr.4 car. Except, it has 546hp/1506kg. Standing starts with TCS 3, like probably what the AI default, it doesn't rocket start. Once I get up to 3rd, 4th, sure, it starts to pass on a long straight. However, no rushed passes and not divebombing, it feels right on par with the non BoP'd AI.
Seriously, the car feels so good, sounds good, looks good in replays, it's my new toy and I don't want to give up that feeling by doing this week's Daily. :( :)

So, in closing, if this weekend's races with friends are doing Gr.4, I may have to sit and watch on the sidelines. *sniff sniff*

I just scored a win too. Not quite at 150 yet.

QT 1:05.830. Started 2nd. Somehow held it together. My last lap wasn't great so I was very lucky to hold on. 14th win. Was stuck at 13 since early this year.

As long as your enjoying your races wins are meaningless. I remember wins being far and few between. I honestly never thought i would be above a high/mid drB and my attitude has not changed, even though i apear to be getting better/faster. I do not think of myself as faster or better than anyone else, i just try to do my best, and improve a bit every day if i can. I race for the racing not for the wins, they are just a nice bonus when it happens.

I have also put a lot of time into this game since getting my wheel at the start of the year, and doing 3 hours or more of racing most days has been probably the biggest reason for my improvement. Time spent is a big factor in consistency and speed. I have said it before but i really am kind of proud of my stats and the fact they are "pure" meaning i do my best every race and have never had a reset or anything like that to give me "easy" wins on my way back up.

Anyway enough ramblin from me...... here is my trackers..... so close to an A+ at the nord this weekend, that race was good to me lol

Doing some A races today.

Check out this clip of Sir-Lags-A-Lot in the white car. Eventually I had to divebomb pass him, because I couldn't take that 🤬 no more.

Next one was a good race with my buddy, @BenRod. It was the last lap, and I think the guy in front of him was holding him up. Notice what he does at :40. That's not the normal racing line. Obviously he was using his radar and saw me coming up on his left. He didn't swerve over to block or hit me. He gave me space to see if I could pull it off on the outside. He's a good guy. I assume this is what @Dairyworker is referring to when he talks about good racing with trustworthy people. 👍

Next race. Thanks for clearing a path for me, boys.

Was also hoping for the GT4.R to complement the C7 gr3. More true to real life when signing to Chevy for the FIA races.

Oh man nothing good happened this evening. Sure I dropped my QT by 4tenths. But @RacingGrandpa dropped his by 2 himself so still sitting behind ya!

Then the racing... Oh goodness. 99% was self inflicted. I got the sense I really wasn't in it this evening. This one is gold though.

Wow. I don't think I've seen anyone that far out of bounds on that corner. Nice work! 👍

My wife is used to me coming to bed late. I don't sleep much, 5 hours is my full 8 hour sleep, hence so much time for racing. I usually sneak in at 2am which can be dangerous as she sometimes has bad dreams and goes into full attack mode if I make a noise. It's been a while since that happened as she sleeps with the tv on and usually the fan as well. I can easily stay under that noise level :)

Don't have to worry about me, I dislike watching all sports equally. I don't even have the patience to watch a top 10 lap to see where I can improve. Do, not watch.

Even further off topic, how do I fix this bug where my hydrophonic trays don't have power on my freighter. They had power at first, then I added a couple more levels to the freighter, then tried to plant some stuff with the game complaining I had reached some limit. So I removed the top floor again and then all the stuff lost power. It's a great game, but still so many glitches.

The scientists etc didn't respond either on the freighter so I just kicked them out again. It would be so useful to have a teleporter on it instead of first flying to the space station.

I'll do some hatch races later today, see how it goes. I'll probably pick some random car to try, all suggestions welcome. Is Ferarri any good in GR.4? I've only used the 4C so far, I've only done 3 races on the hatch so far. Very low for me.
I stopped building on my freighter after my first upgrade because it was so buggy. I agree- it'd be nice not to have to go to a base for stuff, but I just gave up on it and stuck to planetary bases.

I've been using the Huracan, but it's not as fun since the tail won't let loose. I feel that's important for the enjoyment of Brands. At least, for me.

@Sven Jurgens Have you ever let AutoDrive/Pause Menu drive an entire race for you before? I wonder if you turned it on right at the start of the race and left it on pause until you time out, do you still get a CRB? Could be an easy way to get the 15 CRB’s if it works. :D

It's such a struggle to maintain your DR score if you're high A rank, because even in the 99SR lobbies there's a bunch of B drivers in there that are qualifying with low 1:29 laptimes... I wish the points lost to lowered ranked drivers (mainly B drivers that are 2nd accounts to A+ drivers) was way less.

1 step forward, 50 steps back.

And a 3 second penalty with no reason given. Perfect!

Had a go aa couple at Brands again before work. 1 race went to crap when I binned it while tailing a very heated fight between 3 dodgy drivers I have seen before. Misjudged it and ended up running wide for a stretch which put me behind. As I was catching back I got a 3 second for following a wreck in the hairpin. And the only car I touched didn't even go off track as my tap straightened him and put him ahea, but it was enough to let the guys who also wrecked pass me when I served it. Oh well, mostly my mistake. Next race I have to take evasive action through surtees to avoid someone sideways, he still backs into me as he spins to the inside instead of outside, and I get a 0.5 for ignoring track limits. Didn't really lose anything there though, and hanging on went well as at the end of lap 3 and first half of lap 4, 3 people binned it and 1 got a penalty so I drift back to 4th. Consistency pays I guess. And even with that got a clean race bonus? Are track limits not counted against that now?

And yeah, because I turned off notifications I missed a chance to catch up with @sturk0167. Doh! Will have to try again later

No sweat. I don't race race on my Asian account very much, but I'll look for you next time I'm there. Doing race A with RPMcMurphy01 right now. Switching to Ace Combat 7, soon.

My one and only attempt there last night was more like Grand Theft Auto than Gran Turismo. :scared:

(I know I could have left more room on the hairpin but I really wanted to getaway from this driver)

It's virtually impossible to defend against a persistent bumper if you can't get by and gap them quickly. Same goes for someone intent on dive bombing.
You kinda expect people to improve as the week goes by and they learn the track, not so much this week.

My evening was very much about the same....

Edit: at the moment I can not lower my Qt, but just ran a 1:32:289 in the Mustang...

Ha, no. See above post, I don't like watching things drive :) Good question whether getting disqualified keeps your clean streak going. You won't get CRB for that race since it's a disconnect. You time out long before the race is over. The times I needed autodrive due to door / phone I'm always disconnected when I get back.

You can't park, results in DQ. Doing donuts will work as long as you don't leave the track, but you might get SR Down for driving backwards. Fastest is to simply drive like a granny in race A or whatever takes the least time. Laziest is one lap in race C and camp the rest in the pit.

I just got a CRB again on the hatch, despite getting bumped off and the culprit not getting a penalty. I made the mistake of braking for an unghosting penalty server who was blocking, driving in the middle and copying my moves, thus got punted off by the next car. SR.S is so full of sportmanship!

2nd race, I'm stuck behind a fast in block out driver and soon get a bumper tapper delivering SR Downs to me from behind. No CRB, 2 SR Downs, neutral rating. I let the bumper tapper go ahead who then crashed the fast in block out driver, so I passed one in the grass and the other at the penalty zone. Lots of time lost, not enough laps in the race, I finish 12th as the first non Trophy/4C driver.

Enough sport mode for now, trying out the Huracan at Tokyo, night and rain. Yep, that's pretty, AI still sucks though. I did turn bop on and pro AI, still in first in lap 2 and then the rain loses most of it's visual flair in bumper cam. In front you pretty much only get pretty reflections, the rain drops don't really illuminate in your headlights like they do in RL. As for driving on heavy wet tires, no puddle effects as far as I can tell. Bring it to sport mode then I can do some real testing!

I wish we had more information for the usage stats of various cars instead of just seeing the top 10 times set in a given region. It could very well be that while only a select few cars are on top of the leaderboards, their usage percentage isn't much higher than a bunch of others cars in that class.

And I'm not sure about what's been going on with Hyundai during these last few FIAGTC manufacturer events; I can't tell if the driver or the car is at fault. Could it be that further BoP adjustments would help those two Hyundai vehicles? Or could it alternatively be better if BoP also adjusted final gear ratio and downforce when tuning is disabled? (Whereas if BoP was on and tuning was enabled, you'd be able to adjust those settings.)

I could also see BoP, in its current state, having the approach of adjusting power/weight not to be uniform, but to maintain as much of each cars' driving characteristics and stats as possible, while trying to also make each one relatively viable. I could understand that, and it'd also explain any hesitation to have BoP also account for final gear ratio and/or downforce. Having cars that don't necessarily have uniform power, weight, or power/weight ratios could make things interesting for both players and spectators. I suppose it does add more character to each vehicle. This hypothesis could explain why for many cases, BoP only changes a car's power and/or weight by a few percentage, with only a few cars having notably larger changes in power/weight from BoP. But in that case, that's all the more reason why I'd prohibit "inter-class" N-series cars when BoP is on.

An event where the cars are almost identical in stats sounds very fair, but somehow a bit less soulful...

In the update, it said they adjusted the BoP on Gr.B cars. Wtf?
I'm hoping like hell we get some rally races in the dailies, but I'm not holding my breath.
