Entered the C race earlier tonight. I got a warm welcome.

I won, mostly due to not sliding around too much. :P

Tried a few A races with my 5.5xxx qt started 2, pole, 2. Races were not bad other than being sent to the sand t1 race 2. Made a good run from last back up to 5th so whatever. Not sure it was on purpose, as i ended up passing him as he was barely able to drive the car. Got 2nd in both other races.

I was having a serious issue with the brake pedal sticking on. I felt like i was draging an anchor for half the race. It was really bad so i tried the fix someone had shared the vidoe for with me. My terrible memory is not allowing me to remember who it was or what thread it was in, dont do drugs kids, lol

It seems to have workwd though, almost 20 laps with no "ghost" braking. And a new qt of 1.05.289 and an opt of .123 (seriously) and i am very sure i can get under 5 seconds.

Good luck on your test @Pigems

It was me that showed you the ghost breaking cause and fix this past Saturday. Glad the fix worked for you.

I was unaware of this bathurst fact.

The track is 6.213 km (3.861 mi) in length, and is technically a street circuit, and is a public road, with normal speed restrictions when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit.

As a public road, on non-race days and when it is not closed off during the day as part of a racing event, Mount Panorama is open to the public. Cars can drive in both directions around the circuit for no charge. However, a strict speed limit of 60 km/h (37 mph) is enforced, and police regularly patrol the circuit.
Fun fact, the folk tale goes that the Mayor of Bathurst at the time got state funding to build the road by pushing it as a tourist drive, but had a secret plan for it to be suitable as a race track all along.

Here's a short read about the tracks origins

Just had a few rounds at Tokyo and while it is a real challenge it seems to have cleaned things up a bit there. Last race had a great 6 lap battle with an aussie in a nice scotty McLaughlin livery rocking the mustang. That car is an underrated beast on the straights. Still doing the AMG and down to a 16.003 for qualifying. Mostly clean drivers working hard to have solid racing, but I think the usual punt kings are playing off it for a bit. Might have to see at the weekend.

But the ratings drop precariously when you got to SE 89, this race had only 1 other S driver, rest were A or B. That was with 2 A DR drivers in the field. Managed to break the McLaren monopoly for 1 race.

Back up to 99 SR and having a good time. Need to try that Mustang though.

Here in EMEA there must be too few racing. I got in two lobbies today with drivers rated A+, A, B, C and D. The time spread was over 28 seconds in Qt. That's taking some of the fun out of it.

Edit: sitting in pit to repair SR.... Not much of a racer right now

Edit 2: feeling like Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder, before he gets his nerves back...

Isn't that how I usually greet you in the lobbies? Or is that @GOTMAXPOWER ? I can never remember :p.
That's most likely GOTMAXPOWER.
I'd probably be the one spamming you with "Can I send you a friend request?"

I’ll be back for those races, they actually look fun. :)
I'll be all over the B race, that's for sure. :D

I was in full agreement until I saw Fuji. :p Gr.1 and Softs (= fun) might tip the scales and make me race on it again.

Sardegna A is my favourite layout if only for its scenic route with church in the background. N200 guess: Mazda Roadster because it's been several weeks since it was last used and PD think we've forgot about it.

>Sainte-Croix

It's like I'm dreaming. It only took 14 months for it to be in rotation again. Not bad.

I was thinking PD must feel bad for sticking us with the rain this week, they never give us soft tires, not even with Gr.1 most times.
It should be a good week next week. :)

Race C....my my my.

My first race was ok. I didn’t qualify and started 17th. Aside from spinning and my car took too long to rev normally, I finished 13th. I did get up to 7th but lost it.

Second race..... I did qualify in the short time I had. 217:xxx. Start of the race (P7) in T1, someone forgot to brake and hit me. Luckily I managed to maintain control. When I got to the straight before the hairpin, I was in P5. As I got to the hairpin, I was starting my turn. Suddenly I see a missile flying on the inside. It was too late to take avoiding action then and I get wiped out along with other cars. Fell to about 15th. End of lap 1 lol.

In lap 2, when I got to the area before the hairpin, but not the straight (don’t know the area names), I hit the wall and spun out. 5 second penalty. I kept trying to recover and kept tapping the wall. By the time I recovered and on my way to the hairpin...10 more seconds was added. I guess I was too close to activate the slow down. I also fell to P18 and far behind.

Lap 3, on T2, I put a little too much throttle. I hit the wall but lightly. The game gave me 5 seconds on top of my 15 seconds....I raged and quit.

I thought about saying to say the hell with this. I came here and read some post. I saw Sven won a race and somehow that motivated me to play again, although I was mad.

Well I did play again. For now on, I will find something to be pissed at lol.

I love the rain. It surprisingly grippy everywhere aside from the last corner. I just can't seem to find any traction on the exit.
Slowest corner on the track by a long margin = no down force. Just got to be patient and let it wind up. Changing up early can help too in some cars.

Been there, done that. Before they put in the chase (Conrod used to be straight all the way from Forest Elbow to Murray's Corner) and took out the radical camber changes in the last few corners over the top of the mountain.

And another victory from 13th, this time with a 35 second lead . And SR went down again because of this:

What do I get a penalty for?

Down to SR.A now, 77 SR left.

Looks like the green Lambo just before you pass the Nissan. After you touch doors he clips your right rear and spins/slides into another car then the wall. Not your fault at all, both times he touches you it's his driving. I think the critical point of contact is between 22 - 23 seconds into the vid, watch the radar.

And my day at the races - two on B, both in the Jaguar. P8 > P10 in the first, P7 > P8 in second, neutral SR, negative DR. Need more sleep, don't race tired. I might have to break out the Mustang, the Jag is fast but I'm not always consistent in it.

Q time is better than last time on this combo and it's only the start of the week, but that's put me in a higher rated group of drivers and I'm having trouble going fast and not hitting people at the same time. I really like this track and know it pretty well but there's not a lot of room for error.

And this is what it looked like before they made it "safer" (but not as bad is it had been 15 years earlier), the fast cars were lapping at about 2:30 with essentially no downforce, but without having to slow down for The Chase. Bear in mind too that this was a mixed class endurance race (1000km / 600 miles) with sub two litre Celicas and Alfas driving alongside five litre plus V8 monsters:

The Fords were a 351c.i. and the Holden Toranas (Marlboro branding on the lead car) had 308c.i. V8

YES!!
But come on only 3 laps.... Should have been 5. Track has fast flow.

Have they intentionally reduced all the Daily B races by 1 lap in the last few weeks? Brands Hatch and Bathurst both needed at least 1 extra lap. I actually came across the line of my first B race last night and was surprised when the race ended. Yes, I knew it was a 3 lap but it was over before I even got into a groove. Usually I race Daily B because it suits my schedule of grabbing a few laps whenever the chance appears and because I favour Gr3 & 4 cars that tend to appear in B races but it's starting to feel like the race is not even getting settled before it's over.

EDIT: Last few Daily B races

Pre change:

Suzuka, 2+ mins per lap, 4 laps
Sardegna, 1.5 (ish) mins per lap, 5 laps
Red Bull Ring, 1.5 (ish) mins per lap, 5 laps

Post change:

Brands Hatch, 1.5 (ish) mins per lap, 4 laps
Bathurst, 2+ mins per lap, 3 laps
St Croix B, 2+ mins per lap, 3 laps

So tracks with roughly one and a half min lap times are down from 4 to 3 while tracks with over 2 min laps are down from 5 to 4.

The 7 AM race was a cakewalk
IhnCUnC.jpg

Over 3 sec faster, matchmaking lol.

The next 2 were complete destruction derbies. I lost SR again, down to 71 now. Check out this one:
zUxwhEu.jpg

41 sec in penalties in lap 1!!! I wasn't doing too hot either. I had to ditch my car into the wall in T1 as there was no way to avoid whatever what was happening there, 5 sec. Then in T2 I got punted from behind and ended up with another 2 sec. Then I had to ditch into the wall again to avoid mr 41 sec in front of me +5, then when I made a pass on his next bounce he rammed me into the wall. PD really needs to examine the balance of penalties, 2 sec for ramming someone into the wall, 5 sec for steering into the wall to avoid hitting someone messing up...

Anyway, still finished 2nd as well as in the next race. By the time I got through the chaos first was 12 sec ahead. I got the fastest lap but not enough time to catch up. Still more fun than simply lapping on my own like in the first race from lap 2.

This is why I like the Daily Race format, driving on the same track for a week gives me an appreciation for it I probably wouldn't have otherwise. I've never driven this Tokyo layout outside of Campaign mode before this week, and the same goes with Sainte-Croix, I'm looking forward to that.

I understand your point but neglecting a track for 14 months while consistently using Suzuka, Tokyo and Maggiore (stats below speak for themselves. Credit to @sturk0167 for the list.) is kind of ridiculous.

July 29th was the beginning of the weekly daily races. The number next to the track is how many times it's been used Sport mode races.

27 Tokyo Expressway
22 Dragon Trail

Am I the only one finding there is a massive difference in grip between qualy and race on the Mountain? I drove both my Holden Dealer Team Mustang and M4 so far and during the race it was like driving on glass .

I have often thought the same but then I put it down to the difference between race and qualifying psychology. When I'm trying to test the limits of the car and pushing flat out and the only risk is that I may screw up a lap then no biggie, hit reset and go again. When it's a race you probably become a little more cautious which in turn makes you a little bit more aware or apprehensive of losing the car. When that happens then the slide you experienced on a quali lap and ignored becomes the lack of grip that nearly cost you a race. Rather than put it down to grip on the track I'd say it's more down to your grip on reality.:D
