Time to test the Porsche at Fuji.

Two races on the Canadian account, then back on the Euro account and see if we can get win no 24.

OK, still a terrible idea then. Brands Hatch would be impossible to use during winter with any kind of speed, Nürburgring would be wet and cold half the year. And many, like me, has families and obligations that totally prevent us from racing during the day. So basically I would have to race the same set of tracks all winter, possible in bad conditions. Japan is very cold and snowy in the winter, there goes half the tracks, Europe is cold and snow covered. So basically Willow Springs all winter long..... And then the Asian tracks all summer because of the light. No.
No.
No.

Edit: Arjeplog in Winter could be fun, I give you that.
Only for the track location. So let's say you're playing GTS at 9PM Eastern Standard Time. If you were racing at Laguna Seca, the light would be as if it were 6PM, as this track would be following Pacific Standard Time. You would not need to actually be racing at 6PM EST. Similarly, you would not need to be racing in the early morning hours for a European track, as it's just how the day/night cycle would be reflected. You can still race at any track at any time, unless you have a serious antipathy for racing on some tracks when they'll be set at night.

Basically, it's like taking the time-of-day conditions for the courses in the Daily Races, and making them dynamic, specifically in real-time, and some would be further along than others due to the courses being set in different time zones. You don't actually have to race at like, 1pm if you want to drive on the Nurburgring. It's just that the course will act like it's 1pm, as it'd be 1pm in Germany.

Snow wouldn't be accounted for. In fact, I'd make clouds and rain be relatively random. Maybe make it slightly more or less likely with the season, but otherwise, not constant. If it is indeed snowing at a course in real life, it'd be substituted with rain in-game. I certainly wouldn't ask you to drive on a snowy Suzuka, haha. Just the position of the sun, the stars, and the moon as well as its phases.

What I did mean by that other snow comment was that snow-based circuits like Chamonix could be in daily race rotation a bit more often in the winter - not that there'd be snow on the in-game version of various courses. Though when it comes to dirt and snow courses in general. I'd personally prefer rally stages like Monte Carlo, and perhaps even have rally (as in, the time attack, point-to-point sort, not simply any instance of driving on dirt/snow) be in Sport Mode, if you ask me.

You still don't get it. The temp would be 2-5 degrees C, maybe freezing some time too. And all tracks in Europe would be dark when I race. Much much better to make daily races at different times so it will be the same for all players

@JoeyLeonine tag, you're it!

Edit: followed by a power out. Whole area down

Mate, I saw. Gauntlet thrown!

I pushed hard and got down to 12.405

Next lap I was .7 up on that coming through the right hander off the back straight... got my entries to the Left, Left, Right, Left, Left bit all wrong!!!

I saw you online and thought I might catch you in the next races, but alas... powercut!

I can go sub 12.000... I just gotta do it!

I know some folks avoid the META for their own deep philosophical reasons, and they’ll say they hate the GT-R this week because everyone is in it but next week when it’s actually poop again they’ll sing it’s praises, but so far it is the only car I can hot lap AND race in with any consistent success.

Try the Supra :).

Maybe it could just be an option in lobbies, then. Or maybe it would only apply to championship races, rather than daily races all the time. I'd imagine that between the lighting of the tracks and cars, it'd be enough to compensate for some tracks being driven in darkness...

Lighting on tracks is an oval thing.

Nope.

Back to the 050. I like the Toyota. I hate that it's become a one make race.

Edit. Accidentally crossed the line. I now have a quali time. Balls. Ah well, last on the Canadian account tonight. Suppose I'll have to really set a quali time tomorrow, and go for wins.

People are starting to get to grips with race B now. My 2:08.7 has tumbled down the charts. Had a quick blat and knocked 0.3 off. I have a opt. tantalising close to 2:08 flat, which is on the fringes of top 100. The rate at which the ghost pulls on me out of the first left hander and over the bridge makes it obvious where a lot of my time is bleeding. Knowing that is one thing, being able to do anything about it, entirely another. Back to the GT-R.

I'm going to have to throw in the towel on racing at St. Croix for now. I just can't seem to get to grips with some of it. Had the balls up of a race with @sturk0167 and then had another go. Missed him in the matchmaking on the next one but did better. Qualifying time is still garbage, was on pace for a low 2:10 when it was time for matchmaking so ballsed that up as well. I just can't come to grips with it and keep ending up starting 1 or 2 from the back in higher lobbies. I've never been much of a winner but at least I'm usually hanging out near the high midfield and even that seems a stretch there for me now. 4 races, lost over 2K DR for that even when I've had a good race. Back to Fuji where for some reason I seem to have an ability to grind it out.

Nicely done! I just spent an hour and a half on it, got my Optimal down to a 7.908, but didn’t knock a single .001 off my actual time.

Re the live weather and times at certain tracks. Surely it could just be done for certain races? At the moment we have three daily (weekly) races which run under whatever conditions are set and it works well, throw in a 'D' and we can have a 'live' one that takes on a certain circuit at it's actual real-life conditions at that specific time, also throw in a Race E while we're at it which is an endurance (really need one of those!). I totally get why people wouldn't fancy Nurburgring Nordschleife in the snow at night! But think it could work well as an option, even throw in a Race F which is purely random. Random car, track and grid order.

Just a few silly thoughts!!

Question: how many races do you guys average a day?
If I average it out through the week maybe 2? If I am getting a good week time wise I can guarantee 2 but I won't race a couple of nights and get a few more on the weekend. Having night shifts with early finishes this week I will be above that but yeah, 2 a day might get it about right over the week.

Question: how many races do you guys average a day?
Not that many considering how much time I spend on the game! But I tend to do Race C and the wheel gives off a fair amount of heat so after a couple of races I basically need a shower and change of clothes! Usually much more hot lapping and practising than racing - which is probably why I'm 🤬 when it comes to the races!

2-4 average a day I would say

Edit: My two accounts

Acc 1 - 322 days access 606 races
Acc 2 - 61 days access, 116 races.

So about two a day average overall

That's bloody shocking!! I need to get racy more

If anyone is looking for a good alternative to the GT-R at St. Croix, the Peugeot VGT is a good choice. I was able to do a 2:07.0 after only a few laps in qualifying, compared to my 2:06.9 in the Nissan. I'll admit that I'm not the best at using the GT-R though. I struggle getting the power down out of the slower speed corners compared to people like Deafsun.

I got my best lap today with the Peugeot, followed closely by the Genesis. 👍
Just thought I'd try some cars that don't get used much, and I was surprised by those two.

My qualifying time was 2:15 lol, decide to go for some practice and did 2:12.461. I'm pretty happy. How can people do 2:08? Is it possible with the DS? It's insane!

Edit: I've literally finished 20 hot laps. Going for the next race at 11:10. I smell disappointment miles away. Will report back soon.

I did 2:09 with DS4, TCS 2, A/T and an X button throttle. Matt Jones surely does at least 2:08 with his DS4.

I'm not fast as @sturk0167 but I have a 2:11 in the RcF and was easily on pace for a 2:10 low before matchmaking cut me off heading into the last turn. DS4, TCS2. I can say that I'm not a great qualifier but yeah, plenty of practice needed. I was still getting that with some slides into and throttle skids out of some turns. If you can work on it the turning has been my biggest change to help my times. Learning not to bang it to full lock left or right at the turn, only turn as much as I have to and ease off to straight as I gas it up. That and watch other people's videos. Does wonders for me.
EDIT: I can say that for all that my race craft isn't always the greatest and agree with @sturk0167 and probably everyone else. Laps, lots of laps

Honestly, there is absolutely zero reason why a driver should be able to acquire 14s in contact penalties and still continue the race. PD needs to add a disqualification system for situations like this. They even went on to try and ruin other driver’s races before even hitting the penalty line.

“This is driving that will make you look bad.”
Exactly my thoughts. 👍
Whatever the 'reason', I think he gets points for accuracy.

2 times in a row it's bullseye o'clock! Seen many a kill attempt miss by a country mile.
Yeah, I had my headphones on and both times they scared the hell outta me.
I think he's a spotty 17 year old and has clearly been told by his mom that that's his last race before bed. So after trying too hard to instantly make up for his mistake on worn tyres and nudging you off the first time (I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on that one), his ensuing 4s penalty sent him into a ragey teenager strop and the only thing he could lash out at before smashing his tv was the black and teal machine nearest to him :D
Wish this could be true, but the time I was racing I figured all the kiddies would be asleep with it being a school night and all.

After some careful consideration, and being able to calm down a bit. I decided not to race last night. No need to bring bad blood to the track. Think I'll just let it be :).
