So is this thing of turning off penalties again leading to making SR easier to get? Or are you just not getting massively disproportionate penalties but still taking knocks on SR? Maybe I can get to keep racing race A and bring my Sportsmanship back up anyway. :D
 
Since i decided to skip Sport mode till penalties are fixed, I did some lobby scouting.

I was only interested in:
Goodwood
Brands Hatch
Spa
Ring 24H

With either GR3/F1 BOP/no tuning (don’t feel like doing setup tonight lol).

Took some searching as I wanted clean/fast racing. Ended up finding the perfect one. N24 GR3/BOP/no tune. 14 laps with tire/fuel wear at 1x (too low IMO). I setup my rig as quick as I could, smoked a bowl and got half a practice lap in with the RSR. Also had to re-adapt to my brake since I found two of the 65 elastomers had warped/torn, was wondering why my brakes felt soft lately. Threw in 85’s and went in.

Smoked a quick bowl and grabbed a water for what was going to be 2hrs at the N24.

Started 10th of 11 no quali. Few false starts off the line got me up to 2nd by T2, but down to 4th by the end of GP (made error). No worries, 14 laps, I’m still feeling the car and the crowd out. Guys made error up to 2nd by Flug. 3rd and I bumper2bumper until 1st spun and we became 1/2 both RSR.

I took it too easy on lap 2 and they pulled me in like a freight train dropping me to 5th by lap 3. Hopefully I’m just being more mindful of tire wear. Up my pace a bit to stay in the draft, saving my tires. Replay confirmed this, I was being significantly nicer to my tires.

Got to 3rd by end of lap 3 when 1st spun and quit, then early into the 4th lap he spun and the chase for first begun. Down 8sec at this point. He’s def pushing his car and I’m still feeling mine out. He’s used 10% of his fronts but mine show almost no loss, rears equal to his. BUT......I made a dumb mistake and looped it. Had to reverse etc, lost 20sec so now down 30sec on lap 4. It’s just him and me, do I quit or try to chase him down. It’s the Green Hell, anything can happen. So I stuck it out and put in higher paced laps and consistent working them down from 8:18 to 8:15s.

I kept the pressure on and he made a mistake on each lap which took him from 8:15’s to 8:27+ to my 8:18’s into 8:15’s. We came into the pits with a 2sec gap but I needed less fuel.

Now we had a game of cat and mouse till middle of lap 11. Running 8:15’s in tandem I opted to conserve tires and just sit on his bumper till he wore out his tires or made a mistake. My plan was to attack on lap 12 in the GP section where I was faster than him. With fresher tires I could put on a second. But middle of lap 11 he went off and I sailed by and stretched a lead of 9sec. This went up and down by +- 3sec through lap 12. Till lap 13 when he made some mistakes and I built a 40sec lead by the end.

The lesson. Longer races are better races. And don’t throw in the towel, go for it eh. And Jesus that was a workout on high FFB settings. God I’m so bored with this quarantine I just wrote a page lol. That and no penalties can work.....but it requires driving clean and not barging through. The short races make that worse as everyone’s in a rush.

Anyways that was a blast tonight. Stoney-Anarchist was the guy in the Vette. Great clean race! I checked his Kudos, super consistent A/S driver with very few fluctuations. Explains why racing with no penalty worked.

Easy to restore SR now. 69 to 83 in two race Bs so far. Didnt see any outrageous bad sportsmanship acts yet but who knows... that could change quickly.

Incidental off (car bumps and side scrapes). But incidental to off track limits even a hair is 7s. Haven't seen any punting in the replay of the race B I just did.

Personally I'm happy to not get phantom penalties but curious to see how people exploit the system.

I’m not going to test it, but won’t people just nudge you off the track “incidentally” without being penalised?
 
Can confirm there is lots of nudging tapping and bumping not getting penalized. I got bounced all over by people unhappy with me being patient on passing someone, and got blocked and brake checked a couple of times, still got the CRB. I screwed it up last time, maybe now I need to hit my main to go for the 15 streak achievement.

What SR/DR class? Had my 3rd clean race in a row. Just got my 19th victory but it was me and two other DR B and the rest D so it feels like beating up a blind toddler. All SR S.

“Blind toddler” here. And I get beaten up on a daily basis by a totally screwed matchmaking system. It feels like D are just used as makeweights for higher levels.

The penalty change at D now means full on carnage.

No decency nor respect for racing.

Im either done or not online racing. I’m fed up of being treated like this by two Companies who simply don’t care.

That stinks. So no luck in your lobby tonight?

My only advice is practice a daily race and master the track. Get close to pole and you should avoid the carnage. I was where you were just a 60 race days ago.

GT Sport Bug Report Thread

Happens every day, screenshot folder getting very full. The only exceptions are FIA races when I actually get all D drivers every time.

As I said, not going to :banghead: any longer
 
I got hit off t1 in race b and got a 7 second penalty, the system is NOT fixed at all it is STILL GARBAGE.
Got another 7 second penalty for a slight touch on the car in front in braking, wouldn't have even marked the paint.
The games in the worst state I can remember, totally no fun anymore I quit.
I will be boycotting the game from now on until the games fixed. Its beyond a joke PD promise a fix and make it even worse, the games broken and unplayable now. Bye everyone I have raced over the years.

I feel this might actually be the case..

Last week I joined 3 or 4 SPA races in which the top 5 or 6 drivers were all A/S and the rest were DR D drivers...
It was late in the night and I get that there probably weren't that many A/S players to fill race C lobbies, but straight to D drivers? What about B and C drivers?! Surely there were some queuing...

As you might expect, us A drivers usually drove away from the D pack...

But there was this one instance in which I was pushed wide at T1 (and got a penalty of course) and then had to fight my way through D drivers and the experience was not the greatest and that's the big issue with such uneven matchmaking..

The thing is, they didn't promise anything..
And I'm not defending them or anything, I just find the lack of communication to be mind-boggling...

There's a massive online outrage and NOT A SINGLE WORD from the developers.. Their twitter account just keeps posting miscellaneous stuff as if everything was fine...

Like do they even know what's the actual problem with the penalty system? What direction are they taking to fix it? Are they trying to improve the system using its current code or completely rebuilding it?
Is this latest fix a temporary or permanent solution?
It's really not that difficult to communicate stuff like using vague terms...

Every game has its issues, but for me, the most frustrating about GT Sport right now isn't the broken penalty system, it's the lack of communication by the developers...

Edit: just checked twitter.. Their tweet hints that the penalty system is fixed, and their website says they're still working on the penalty system, but most of my points still stand.

Oky, I found this guy on Twitter and judging by his wording, I'd assume he's a developer... This is the first time I've seen anything from a developer that isn't Kaz, so maybe they're not as bad as I thought they were, but still, some of my points still stand

Worse race in a long time. Went backwards from 12th to 16th. Spinning the tyres at nearly every corner exit(and I wasn't on Wets) Don't know what was up with this race.

His issue is poor matchmaking.
But the deciding factor in matchmaking is not DR, It's SR. If you get up to SR S, it's almost always just one DR in EMEA.

Yes, I read that. I didn't follow what the specific problem was. They want to be matched will all Ds?
 
Been following this thread, and I have to say I've had some really good races in the 86 this week. Some of the guys out there are interested in racing, and C is a fun combo for close racing. There are also those that seem to only be interested in bashing. Had one guy that kept slamming on his brakes to give penalties. Got a win and a couple podiums on my main account...amazingly, I've maintained my A rating...maybe I do belong here. I have been sticking to races that I can qualify in the top half. Been racing from the back on my other account. Again, one win and a couple podiums, which were all fun races once I got into the top 10. My second account has been a solid dr B, and usually sr S, but is now a D-E. Still made it to 4th in that last race, but served about 15-20 seconds in penalties, none of them valid IMO. We'll see what the update brings.
 
Did a Race C on the Alt, mostly to get ready for DRWF later. I took a 1 second penalty on the first lap when someone spun into me, and that it dropped me 2 SR for the race. :odd:


Edit: that being said...it’s actually not a bad combo. It was fun moving through the field in it. I ended up finishing 4th with a shot at 3rd at the line after being in last after the penalty.
