If on ds4 I am not your resource.
Turn on driving line and cones if on wheel. Staying on driving line plus tcs 3 nets me about a 25.5 avg on ts050 when warmed up. Still learning the track better...
I’d say auto is probably a good choice if you’re not experienced on the paddles.
I use manual always. Best c group shift points are marked on the tach.
Slower in aggressive out. Don’t buy a 919.

Line is also a great tool to place you right in the slipstream, you can tell exactly where the other car is on the track from 1,5 seconds behind.

Laptimes ranging from 3:24 to 3:22. Car gets faster over time thanks to the decreasing fuel load, provided you look after tires well. That would yield a very low 17 minute race time. I'm capable of those times but can never do it in an actual race because of the penalties And it's not like I haven't seen faster, one of my teammates has been doing 3:21s on the final lap

I'm not a fan of cones during a race. I like driving markers, which mark turn in and apex and exit points. I find they help me see in traffic.(I use bumper cam). With cones on, you can hit them when someine else knocks them onto the track. One launch into the air from cones, and I never had them on in a race again. Q or practice, fine, but not a race.

Good god the Toyota 50soso is a such a boring car to drive. I'll happily sacrifice a good race time for being able to enjoy myself.

You should try it anyways. I ran a 3:31 on the DS4 with this combo back in December. I bet you can beat that.

You're right ... definitely enjoying the combo. Was able to get high 27 with room for improvement.

Had one of the top 10 guys in a race this afternoon - his 3.18 was 4 seconds faster than the guy in P2 (8 secs faster than me!). He was S/S, and everybody else was B/B - needless to say he disappeared into the distance in the race....

Great races in the 962 this morning. Did a bunch of em. Starting 1-3 every race and finished on the podium every race, against lots of hybrids. I am almost convinced if i was a bit better i could short shift and no stop for the win. I am not quite that good though, with manual in race cars

I find it weird in its apparent inconsistency. Sometimes you blatantly cut it and no penalty, others you feel you've taken it perfectly, or well within limits, and up pops a 0.5s penalty. Haven't really attacked it for ages just to avoid a penalty!

Someone has planted a 787b into the top 10 in EMEA with a 3:18.8. He definitely knows where the track limits are. Only time I've been on those parts of the track have been on the way to a wall!

this is going to sound stupid but I swear it depends on car your driving when putting down a quali lap seems like in the 908 cant even think about cutting it close but in 962 seems like i am getting away with murder at that section..........LOL maybe its just me but i do agree very inconsistent

yesterday in 962 won from starting 2nd . went in pits on lap 3 came out about 3 seconds behind toyota went on to win by 2. I definitely think you can short shift and make on fuel but winning would be out of the question i think. when i pit at the end of lap 3 there is about 1.3 in the tank that would be a lot to save to make it 5 but i am driving like the cops are chasing me for 3 laps....before coming in

Tried 1 Race B this morning. Too laggy to finish so I quit. Down to 86 SR.

+Afternoon race. Still laggy but lucky to get space. Started 3rd, finished 2nd. Due to car in front disconnecting. Almost evened things up from the earlier race.

Manual transmission is better than automatic in pretty much every way. You'll become a better and more focused driver, and it'll be easier to drive high performance cars like Gr.1.

If we were to shift a bit early and ride slipstream staying with the leader, instead of blowing by. How much would we have to go balls out for the last lap, with better tires.

Edit: the car is pleanty fast in auto. I generally go with manual, but the race cars are geard pretty good. So i find the difference minimal usually. Current qt in the 962 is 3.23.6xx with auto.

I no stopped the R92 Monday night with some short shifting and FM play in 5th gear down the straights. 👍

I no stopped each race fm1 962 shifted at or just before the shift point on the tach. Same point as my qual lap sub 24.
Plenty of fuel. That’s even with a few .5 slowdown reaccelerates.
Tires get sketchy final lap in last brake zone and porsche curves...
The car isn’t much faster if any revving the snout out of it. Fuel light comes on but there’s more than enough.

I think for me 919 or ts050 is best for the evening battlebots players.

Edit r92 no stopped also same thing but tall gears in the twisty bits and a couple short shifts fm1 using tach marked shift point. R92 is easier in lap one twisters if you go fm 2 or even three until the straight. You’re not making time in the twisters in that one anyways so keep your powder dry.

I will have to try to do that just ride and save see what happens. ever since I got my wheel have never used A/T my quali time in M/T with 962 is 3.22.7xx (took STURKS ADVICE T/C 3 helped a lot getting out of corners)

For years I used some sort of line as a reference but when GTS came out I finally gave it up because I felt it became a massive crutch. It was so hard to adjust without it but I’m glad I did.

For example I am a weird case - I can't use assists because they distract the hell out of me. I am getting too focused on keeping on the line or checking what the ghost is doing so I just mess up...

Usually I check one of the top10 lap to get an idea of braking markers and so on and them I work up improvements on my own - sometimes I even surprise me...

Today I practiced for Fuji in the 911 - had a short session of 20 minutes at noon, best time was a 1.35.1. Then resumed work and before the race I did in about 3-4 laps 1.33.6 and I think there were still 2-3 tenths there. This is a track where I am usually at least 2.5s slower than top dogs.

As for TCS, I only use it in Group2 and Group1 and I think I will try to stop using it there also... I noticed I start to develop a bad habbit of planting the foot and let TC do his job - being slower in the process...

Once you REALLY know the track it’s a distraction and you don’t need it imo, but for me REALLY knowing a track takes a loooong time...That means knowing every little hump for turning in, initial brake bite point etc.
Like within a sec of top ten.
I just think many players trying to get better who are not already expert should use it because it’s so much better.
If a guy I know can hit 60k plus dr race top splits regular can use tcs then it pokes a hole in the bs turn all aids off position imo.
These tracks are tricky, the subtle cambers are everything, the line puts you in the right areas.
I think negative terms like crutch are often used when aids are discussed like tcs3 for example.
I’m regularly close to top ten on wheel with tcs and line, aids just work.
I’m good on Autopolis for example and by the time I got top ten there in Red Bull jr BECAUSE I used the line for so long I KNEW where the grip was.
So just FYI a lot of my (maybe they come off badly or know it all) comments are directed towards less than expert drivers, to try to give them ideas on how to get more enjoyment...

Edit plus if a person is learning wheel use on racecars the line will develop the progressive steering use needed for best results.
The formula in any racecar is default everything for setup, brake at cones. Turn wheel in come off brake make apex accel out.
It’s always the same thing. The more you do that if you really trust what I am saying you will learn to drive faster if you are still learning.
If you are learning on wheel and you don’t use aids you’re just gonna be ingraining mistakes and bad habits imo.
I’m only trying to help those who are not experts as I said.
Sawing at the wheel and stabbing throttle and brakes and all that trying to go fast sliding crap imo will only bring a person frustration.

Certainly there are advantages to using manual transmissions.
Normally I just use it in A races, where there are only a few shifts required per lap.
The reason I don't use it much in the faster races cars, is that it really distracts me from the other things I need to do.
When I'm responsible for the shifts, it often pulls my attention away from braking and turn-in points. And many times, I've forgotten what gear I was in and downshifted one too many times, spinning myself out.

It would take me lots and lots of laps to get to the point where I don't need to put much thought into the shifting.
I'll try qualifying with it, but I won't use it in the race at LeMans. That race already gives me enough stress.

I've done the LeMans race probably around 300 times over the last couple years, and I still feel nervous before every race.

Edit: That's probably why I feel the urge to drink when I race. It takes the edge off.

I don't know who you're racing, but is Fuel 3 am option? I've only tried it in the one race using the R92CP. It gives anything faster than the hybrids, a chance to pass, but saved me fuel. I had 2.4 laps starting Lap 4. Not sure how the 962 is with fuel economy.

Any time you get inside the top 50 you’re doing good. 👍 Remember, the skill gap between DR A(30k to 49.9k) and the Top Aliens(up to 75k) can be up to 45k DR points. It’s the biggest skill gap in the entire game. So anytime you’re within range of them, it’s always a good thing

I did 1:43.412 following Mistah MCA lap guide on YouTube i really like his lap guide well explained . Im 4 in my region right in front of him 👍
