Finally beat 1:17 in Tokyo with 1:16.899.
Did only one race, started 7th on hards. Got outpaced by almost everyone and dropped to 14th or something. Decided to change tires early to get ahead of a slow pack of cars in front of me. Pitted on 6th lap and switched to mediums. The car was almost flying. At least for a couple of laps, where I was able to climb up to P5. Unfortunately, tirewear kicked in and I made a couple of mistakes because of that, letting two faster drivers through. Finished on P7.
I must admit that the first lap of the race is the most difficult, I don't recognise the car at all. Didn't feel anything like it at Mona or Sardegna last week.
I tried to start another race on mediums, but the car was all over the place, I lost a couple of positions and accidentally smashed someone to the wall. Slowed down to wait for him, but looked like he'd already quit. Saw no point of racing further and left the lobby as well, ashamed of myself. A long way ahead to learn where I can overtake and go side by side with others, and where it is a bad idea.
Any strategy tips for this race? For now I feel like making two pitstops can be beneficial, as the pit lane is very short, and having mediums would be worthwhile.
not a single Alsace daily race in the last two years , of course Suzuka and Tsukuba are wayyy overused , and the rare times a GR1 daily race is live, the fuel/tyre multipliers always favors the toyotas , geez i know PD is a Japanese company , i know they have ties with toyota but still
The pictures show only top tracks. In total Alsace Village was used 6 times, and Alsace Village II - two times. Only one race at Alsace Village II in 2019 in June, and no races at a regular track. No races in 2020 yet. So yeah, still a very low frequency for this track.
After looking at car+track combo for a bit, I don't understand what's up with la Sarthe GR1 combo? Not a single other track featured GR1 cars more than once! All the while la Sarthe had this event 9 times plus one time with no chicane layout, making it 10 in total, one of two most frequent combos along Interlagos GR3. I guess other tracks are not certified for these cars or what?
That's one of the main reasons I'm trying to get into FIA races now, just to have a bit more variety. Maybe that was PD's plan all along...
