I want to race cleanly and play as much on the side of the rules as possible, but at the same time, I'm not waiting for someone who is taking a suboptimal line because they got to the corner first, especially if there is plenty of space for both cars to get through without anyone losing speed as there was in this situation.

Then you're going to get hit from the outside car. Especially in this game, the outside car is going to be totally oblivious to your attacking line and just ram you from the side, just like the video. Racing clean isn't just about knowing when you're right or wrong, it's about knowing the optimum and expected behavior from your opponents so that you can predict their behavior and not get hit.

As Famine pointed out, in this scenario the lead car was coasting into the braking zone which created an unpredictable scenario for the rest of the drivers. I change my opinion, it's essentially a race incident and not a barge pass. The outside driver floundered his corner rights and should have expected someone to drive through his open barn door.

It's equally annoying when people seize the opportunity, knowing that you are being abused by a reportable idiot, to attack, rather than show some sportsmanship in allowing you to manage it without the need to defend from their attack.
I'm with you on that. I usually stay clear of battles as the drivers will usually take each other out. I'm not sure that the approaching driver was at fault here, I don't blame him. It's the other driver that cannot decide which side of the track he wants after making a mistake.

Same driver from two nights ago, makes a mistake, cuts across the track, then cuts back after I'm committed, then squeezes me out and rams me for good measure. I did try to message him, but I think I blocked him previously because it wouldn't let me. Also, he's the type of driver that exits as soon as the race ends. He's almost always the first one gone.

Well I’ve only had 2 more races, but I’ve had another double case of Meeting a divebomber on the apex and getting an SR down.

yes, I’m leaving the barn door open if I take too wide a line, I could block instead just in case they try a dive, but surely it’s “just racing” and I don’t deserve an SR down?

Down from SR S/99 to C now!

Messing about with a few things just now. When I drive the Supra in the daily race it handles like there's a weird grip issue so I set up a lobby using the same car, track, tyres and BOP settings. The car handles very differently in the lobby. Much less sliding, better braking, better traction. It makes the daily race track feel like it's, for want of a better analogy, wet, or at least damp or the tyre is constantly dirty. Is this something other people have experienced? Is there an issue with my connection or something? Is there a reason why lobbies are different to daily race servers? Do PD make some changes to conditions behind the scenes?

Yes. Not that it was wet or I was running off track but yes.

Same car, BoP, tyre, aids off, ABS default, same DS4, same everything. Should have been like for like, I think?

Drives very different.

So there's something weird going on here. Monday (probably I don't even know what day it is anymore) I was doing 2:42s. Yesterday morning the car had absolutely no grip or feel, like the track was damp or it was running horrible tyres. 2:45s interspersed with drift-fests. Last night, more grip, low 2:42s. No driving aids, BB 0, manual shift, same DS4, nothing different.

I didn't reset my router, reboot the PS4 or anything. WTF is up with that?

The car still isn't great to coax around using the DS4 but the differences I'm seeing at different times aren't something I can explain or understand right now.

Edit. I should have recorded the laps.
Edit 2. I did reboot the PS4.

It takes me 10-20 minutes of qualifying lapping each night to get from 2:45 down to 2:43. I have yet to hit 2:42 but anything below 2:45 requires extreme focus, and if you drive anything else and jump back in the Toyota you have to start over again. I basically can only run 2:45 once i’m in a race. That’s good enough to hold position once the carnage of the first few corners subsides.

Tested that Supra at spa.
It was not so bad as I thought because what was said here.
Actually, It was quite fun
Did get 2:44.075 with it, so nothing super fast, but spend like 30min lapping.

I also noticed, that ffb was sometimes really ”dull” olmost non existent and that restart fixed it.

anyway, fun car :gtpflag:

I'm on AT because i can't manage to put all those inputs in at the same time. Grtz

Map the throttle to R2, brakes to L2 and use Cross and Square to shift up and down. A few offline races will help in getting used to it. I got to a point fairly quickly where my right thumb was doing the gearshifts without me even thinking about it. Shifting manually will always make you go faster. Plus, you can be more accurate with the throttle input with R2.

Started playing a few weeks ago and just wanted to say hi :)

Initially, only played the career mode part of the game since I didn’t had a PSN+ account, but once I took the plunge I’ve been enjoying (and hating) the Daily Races... Still consider myself a rookie and getting comfortable in the game (still getting first lap jitters, very nervous at the beginning of each race, specially the first ones of the day).

Amazed at the skill of some players and wondering if it will ever be possible to get close to the top lap times on a given week (still way too far off and struggling to understand where I can find the time missing)

Anyway, hope to get to race some of you in the future! My ID is smallsoldier69

Nice to meet you. What region are you in?

Question about the Race B at Spa in the Supra: In order to meet the N400 BoP window, you have to bump up the HP of the car... but is there any benefit to reducing the weight of it as well, or is the only thing you can do is increase the Power until the N400 limits are met, and then it will be 'BoP'ed' down to the same for everyone anyway? It's the first time that I recall a Daily Race that required you to modify the car, and want to be sure I am 'doing it right'! Thanks.

Both weight and power are BOP'ed, so nothing to do about this.

I don't recall doing anything to the car. Not even sure I purchased it or if just put me in the car when I entered the lobby.

Ok, so I have had the most fun with this game since looooong time ago.
The supra is just a blast to drive

Must say, that this thing feels remarkably same as my real life track/summer car.

only the gear braking is back, bont really enjoy that.

Welcome to the planet. You'll find a lot of useful info and quite a few racing anecdotes here. :D I'd also suggest you checking out @Mistah_MCA YT site here https://www.youtube.com/user/MistahMCA . He breaks down the laps for the daily and FIA races each week. Also watch the top 10 laps in game and take note of their braking points, etc.

This is the 3rd altercation in a week I have had with this driver. He blocks every pass attempt. I have “reported” him and “blocked” his profile but he keeps appearing in the same daily races as me. What else can I do? He is pure chaos in every race.

He screwed up, he should have let you go. I really don't understand people like that. I had great racing at Spa last night with some fast, but respectful people. When something like that happened the person would let them by and tuck back in behind, you know like you should do. Makes the game so much more enjoyable when you find some clean people to race with. Finished with several podiums but only one win, but it was a good one.

Just met a total idiot rammer in race C >>>

Profile tells the story, he said in the post race lobby he drives clean?!
Can anyone guess what car he was using? The 15x tire wear is not fun especially if you get spun as 1 spin equals 15, might have to learn how to drive the Supra for race B, if that's any cleaner?

I’m not sure what it is but sometimes my cars just drive a little better. Something does change with feel in ffb, subtle but it does change. I agree, I don’t think it’s you.

Cloister GTR!

Wow. Race A. Never had this happen before. Dude started ramming from T1. left his racing line to tag me every time I was near. wish I could screenshot his name. but for some reason, my replays don't save? lost 20 SR trying to crawl back to the adult swim lobbies. Had to take a break.

Thank you for the advice! I will definitely check the channel... I’m enjoying the Gr3 races a lot, this week was extremely frustrating at the beginning... I thought I was learning the track (first time driving Yamagiwa-Miyabi track) and even started a couple races in pole position, the NSX felt great in Qualifying, but once the race started I couldn’t get 2 laps out of it and ended up either crashing or extremely slow to keep it in the tarmac (guess it isn’t very kind on it’s tires), but switch to a Beetle and have been able to at least get some consistent lap times and manage to finish in the top 10 (some top 5’s) and even got a win!

I’ve been lurking the forum since I started playing and learning a lot from most of you... Thought it was time to participate :)

Nice.

Speaking of fun, has anybody else started playing the mini-game of seeing how many bollards they can drift hit on a single lap while staying within the track boundaries? The sound they make is so damn satisfying.

Just went and checked out his YT channel. excellent. no nonsense. thanks for posting.

I had a funny experience on Race A. I had pole position (which is very rare for me). I got nudged around a little in T1, and then steadily worked my way to the back of the pack by running off course in two places. I'm in last place after lap 1. I proceed to earn Fastest Lap of the race on Lap 2, but still finished last. Pole, FL, and last place for a 2 lap race has to be pretty rare, LOL!

With confidence running high from the Pole and FL, I tried again. Started 3rd and finished.....9th. Ugh! I really struggle at these short races. I need more laps to make up for my silly mistakes :banghead:

Blocking people doesn't/can't keep them out of your races, matching is purely based on SR and DR. And reporting them is worse than useless unless they're violating PSN rules, it just wastes the time of the person reviewing the report.

Best way to keep idiots out of your races is to git gud, unfortunately.

@DanSHW ...Could well have been me you where racing there. I was in the 911 all day yesterday in BS Lobby I ranked uo well this this week

Qualified for the race in the Supra 1.17.1 but couldnt handle the tyre wear so switched back to my beloved 911 for the race.. I was doing 4M 4H. One race i was in 4th with a 5.4 sec gap to 5th, couldnt get past the power cars in front, So pitted again lap 6. Caught the pack back up towing 5th along with me. Think i gained a space cos of a tyre pen in the end.

Will try 2 stop tomorrow and forget about tyre saving go kerb riding and slidin..

I haven't touched GT Sport in a couple months (actually been playing a lot of WRC 8 and Dirt Rally 2.0), but I hopped back on because I really always liked Yamagiwa + Miyabi, especially for Daily Race C. I'm a fan of the tyre compound regulations personally. That level of strategy is what makes the longer races really fun for me.

I do however, feel like the pit times (at least for Kyoto Driving Park) are far too short, especially without needing to refuel. I always thought it was weird how this game basically just teleported you to the box and then back onto the circuit almost instantly, but this is the first time it's ever really stood out to me. Without having to take fuel into consideration, you hardly lose any time when you pit for tyres. I've had races where a car would be 1-2 seconds ahead and struggling, they pit for fresh tyres and come out only a couple seconds behind me and regain the position. And I'm not even taking about the mandatory stop. I mean, taking a second stop for another set of mediums. I'm not certain because I didn't watch the replays, but I kept getting matched with someone who always started on pole because they were fast to begin with, but then they'd pit on the final lap for hards and still win the race. So that tells me they do two stints on softs and build so much of a gap that they're able to pit a second time for hards and retain P1. Smart strategy I guess, but it feels like ********. There needs to be more of a time loss in the pitlane, the speed limiter needs to be simulated.

The other issue on Kyoto in particular is the pit-exit is on the inside left just before Turn 1. Almost every race, someone exits the pit just as I'm coming down the straight, carelessly sweeps across to the outside for the racing line, and un-ghosts right before the braking zone where I'm still going full speed. It's always bothered me that pit-entry/exit lines aren't enforced in this game, and Kyoto's pit-exit line is not nearly long enough anyway even if it was enforced, but this is one circuit where it's very clear why those lines exist and why players need to be penalized for crossing them. There have been so many times where I've had to dive up the inside at the last possible moment to avoid punting the offending driver off, then my line through the corner is already ****ed, then they get aggressive and start bumping into me from behind, not even realizing the issue they've caused. Ugh.

I'm still having a lot of fun though, because I love the circuit. I don't know the current state of the penalty/SR system, but some of these races are absolute **** shows, and virtually everyone I get matched against is A/S. I usually do pretty decently barring getting murdered by someone. I honestly think the rally games have done wonders for my consistency.

Right at 2:32 is when I would've lost my 🤬, and switched to full-on murder mode.

Mostly A/T, but I'll use M/T with cars that don't require tons of constant shifting.

I agree. That SOB would have been in the grass.

I don't know how you can do that, if I spend more than a couple of laps in A/T I lose track of all my braking points, cornering speeds and timings. I need to use M/T to keep focus.

For me, the need for M/T is more important. I use the M/T as part of my deceleration routine. Going A/T would screw me up so badly.
