You guys who keep getting punted do you keep your radar on? Helps a lot to keep it on. You can get a feel for who you're racing before you make the pass typically for me at least. If the person seems shady when I get ahead I'll take a look back after tracking the gap +/- if they are gaining and I'll brake and when I see that blue arrow come in a little too fast I'll weave and watch them go right by me while I undercut and power right past them. It's not full proof but it'll work.

It's a lot like having pocket presence if you were a QB you have to feel the rush... lol! Have to get a feel for just weaving punters.
I use radar and keep my head on a swivel, but sometimes there are things you just cant avoid. Most of the issues I had last night weren't exactly bad behavior or anything, just the penalty system being stupid. I spent my recovery races taking turn 1 and the chicane super wide to allow bombers to fly past if they were remotely close, and taking the fi al.turn super tight. But accidents still happen. A guy who was clean was near me and simply lost it heading into the chicane on the curb, so didnt slow at all and just plowed into me sideways at speed even though he was a second back. To have something like that happen in a race A means you are losing SR no matter what.

I still got my 2 CRB to end the night but it was painful.

Speaking of revenge I saw another takedown today. There were two cars battling (pushing) into turn 1 which got one a penalty, so I passed them as they served it and ended up behind the other, next lap I pass the other into turn 1 and they are right behind me and suddenly there's a big bang and a flash in the mirror and the road is clear behind me, the driver who'd got a penalty earlier was seconds behind, they must not have even used the brakes at all and could have easily hit me too, not that I would have bothered as my Race was ruined laps earlier anyway.

What's it like in lower Dr or Sr rooms if it's like this in the top room. :ouch:

Had a similar race. Started P2 on the hard tyres. P3 overtook on T1, L1. P4 seemed quicker, so I let him through. Did my best to keep up with them. All clean.

After my pit, put on the M and started chasing. Closed in on all of them. Then watched P2 divebomb for the lead, gave the leader a 2s penalty. Needless to say, one corner later they took each other out. Last lap, I was bumper to bumper with a clean Italian. Just couldn't get past him (cleanly that is). Settled for P2

True. But in some cases, with certain corners . Once you've turned in, an experienced and well practiced dive bomber, won't miss and there is no where to go sometimes.

I remember a time when people would type in chat “let’s have a clean race”, seems like I’m the only one who does it these days
In any DR I've ever been in (mostly B), if they type "let's have a clean race", 8 times out of 10, run for your life, they are the punters
I'd not go so far as to say they're the punters, but at least half the time they're the dive bombers. Also DR-B here.

I think even at DR-B there's still a lot of drivers who haven't learned the difference between a clean outbrake to take the inside line and a desperate divebomb to force the better driver off the inside line. This distinction is something that should be ingrained by DR-C. :(

Guy behind me in P3 in Race A put that message up the other day, turn one he ran straight into the back of me - I followed him up the hill, and then when we got to the bottom he ran P1 straight off the track at the right hand turn!

He took the win, then quit immediately.......

Decided I’d try out the RCZ, after persevering with the mustang for a long time.

Thought I would design an awful livery to match:

Added some nerf decals in after this.

Regarding clean racing...

To get a clean race in matchmaking lobbies, back in the days of GT5 Prologue (2008 - 2010), most GT forums organising events would implement a rule whereby you would postpone the start of the race by 30 seconds, not pulling away from your grid slot until the timer hit 30. That way, members of the public which included the punters & rammers couldn't interfere with your race as they would all be way ahead by then.

Maybe the principle could be adapted to the Daily races rolling starts somehow...

XP level is a key part of the penalty assignment.

I'm level 50. Therefore, beyond normal incidental light contact, I cannot touch another car OR be touched by another car.

Combining that with the alt account "trend" is a recipe for disaster, through no fault of my own. I get (obviously intentionally) brake checked and lose 10 SR instantly. Rear ended? Bombed? Forced off? Thwarting an unsuccessful attempt to force off? Fail to avoid a spinning car? ...Same.

There is definitely a growing number of players exploiting the system in this fashion, for no other reason than some morbid satisfaction gained by going out there simply to ruin anybody and everybody's race.

So if an upper level player wants to harass, ruin, and TARGET a higher level player for whatever reason, not even a week's worth of work is required on a shiny, new alt account to get to A/S levels and begin to wreak havoc and destruction aimed specifically at certain players.

I've been targeted twice in the last 3 weeks... and I know who both "are" and "were".

After having my own versions of a nemesis like this I had to click like on your post, but I don't like it. If you know what I mean. This garbage shouldn't be happening. But it is. This right here is actually why I have my alt. Yes it sucks and I get annoyed if there is beating and banging, but I don't use it enough for it to be a problem and it won't be with people I face normally. No chance to have real enemies, and I cam apologize for mistakes amd know I won't see them again for a while.

I wonder if that Race C next week is gonna have us driving the Red Bull X2014 Junior? I recall an FIA Nations Cup race like that, right down to the grid start with the false start check. I'm looking forward to next week's Race A, too.

I didn't know this actually. first time I've even come across a connection to XP.

Level 50 too. Which, if you're right, may explain some of the annoying penalties for the slightest contact.

But in it's current form. XP shouldn't factor in to that at all. Being 2 separate entities.

I just had a hilarious race on Daily Race B. I've been average all week on this race, but I got matched with a bunch of lower-level drivers somehow. I started P6 but the cars in front immediately started fighting and I made it to 3rd, car ahead got a penalty and I was up to P2, and I significantly outpaced the lead but I didn't want to be rude so I was just patiently waiting.

We got to the final turn of the last lap and I decided to take the inside, not to divebomb but to at least make some effort of passing, they swept back across at the last moment, we bumped but maintained our momentum, and we were two-wide going up to the finish. But they were so upset that they just started ramming me from the side over and over, and their car was slightly ahead of mine so they inevitably spun out. I won, they got a two second penalty and finished P3. They probably would have won if they didn't start ramming me.

There are definitely other reasons why malicious actions might go unpunished, the biggest being lag.

But having completed 8600+ races (99.5% Daily A) has not only given me ample time to make observations, but also to develop a perceptive sense of when, where, why, and by whom trouble is caused... or even will be caused - basically knowing something is going to happen before it happens. Then it is up to me to know instinctively what I am going to do before incidents occur, even though I don't actually know beforehand what will happen.

But sometimes there isn't anything I can do about it anyway... just hafta take it on the chin and keep going.

The worst thing about the Fuji race is the tyre difference and people defending on in laps haha

For example for me best strategy is always to start on hards while the pace is slow you can keep in tow and whatever
But people fail to understand you may be a little slower mid corner or braking a touch earlier, and it's just bumping and bashing so much

If they work it out it's easy to pass, I go round the track backwards to see what tyres my rivals are on in warm up so I can tell who's going to give me bother

Then maybe you pit lap 4 or 5 or even 6 and you come out behind someone you catch them by seconds in a lap and a bit and they think nah best to defend this waste loads of time and risk it all on this in lap

Or even when I Cruise up behind on fresh mediums as they have hard tyres and they just defend for their lives on lap 6 when we both could easily finish P2 and P3 he costs me time which means I might only get P2 and not a win but then he loses like 5 positions with the time he lost battling.

So infuriating at times

Just had two races at Fuji and they were beyond horrible. Qualified 4th and 3rd respectively and came 14th and 15th due to being rammed and unfair penalties. Dropped 3.5k DR and 17 SR points so back down to DR B I go. It was nice to be in A for a day I suppose. What a waste of time.

I've avoided Fuji this week, ever since I lost 15 SR in one race for the exact reasons you describe.

The majority of racers online will do anything in their power to avoid being passed at any time and on any lap. They treat each lap as if its 2 to go at Bristol in a NASCAR race.

Just had a race with only 10 cars on Fujii. Even then we could not get a clean race...
I will have to see if I saved it last night, I was a bit drunk, but got wiped out by a car spinning full speed into me at the start of the chicane at Fuji while trying to lap quietly to recover SR. I was almost through the turn to miss them and I see a sideways missile coming.:ouch:

I can say that I didnt get a penalty for it, but I had a big lead on them so don't know what else you can do.:boggled:

Just went from SR 95 to 65, one race in fuji (BS SR). Think its ran out of its advantages. Still barely gaining DR now.
I think if you're not in the top

2.000 seconds from this gem. Accidentally pushed mclaren off looking at penalty.

And this same GT did this to me 3 times in a row and added penalty each lap. Like what was mentioned already, people are abusing the penalty glitch.

Even worse is when you've basically done the same strategy like 5 races in a row and it's the same guy being annoying like dude I won this race last time finished about 20 seconds ahead of you and you still lose 3 fighting me and then loads more later whats the deal?

Made a few more additions to my awfully fast livery, and got a podium - just happy to have set the fastest lap!

For those using the RCZ, I haven’t really messed with the brake balance yet too much, but was wondering where you had it at?

edit: oh mannn! Finished fourth in a field of Bs (apart from one other C). Feels good!!! I think I also set a lap time better than my qually!

edit2: and then first win in a B/C field! Car change and terrible livery is doing wonders.

edit3: and wow, just like that made it up to B! The dip to d was a combined result of getting cleaned up in carnage and also learning to really push cars to the limit.

Things that have definitely helped are: tidgney’s and mistah_mca’s lap guides, reading through ‘ultimate speed secrets’, and perhaps also some luck in involving carnage - perhaps also being more active in avoiding it i.e. letting someone through who is about to pull a bad move, because you know they’ll run off track or get caught in something else at some point, and finally setting a good qualifying time!

Time for a sabbatical. Got a message that at some point in the last few days I did something that went over the code of conduct lines. My easiest guess is that it was a line in post race chat, but the only couple of mean lines I sent were aimed at no one in the race. I was obviously stupid to have done it, but it makes me wonder if others I have reported for stuff like that have ever been punished. Who knows. I have asked for clarity on what I did, but knowing the way stuff has operated I don't hold out a lot of hope in finding out.

With the trouble I had this week when I was getting thrashed with penalties in the fun and 99pct clean race A and the struggles I had dealing with raising my SR I see no reason to push into the dailies when Monza and Autopolis are there. I love both of the tracks, but I am sketchy in Gr. 3 at best and Monza will kill me in penalty pain so it is probably best to cool off, do some hot lapping and play another game for the week.
Looking forward to everyone else's reports, keep your head up, foot down and don't be an idiot like I seem to be.:dunce:

Hope you get to know what it was. Hard to avoid unknowns.

Yeah. I have asked for clarification stating that i did work hard to stay in bounds while still venting about some things, but who knows. Basically I will probably have to go back to just vacating chat immediately after a race, or after I apologize for screwing up someone else's race. I do have an idea of what might have done it, but I have deliberately censored myself usually by just typing asterisks myself.

Basically don't be stupid or say anything. Something I should have learned well enough ages ago, but I can be a terribly slow learner at times.

Have also asked them about differences in reporting and would I get notified if someone I reported got punished because I think there are different ways to do all that but I have never learned. And I don't even know the date. I am in NZ and the referral came from Sony Europe!

That is very strange!

Had the cleanest 2 races of my sport mode journey this morning. This much difference in sportmanship in the lobbies is unbelievable.
2 days ago i had the dr/sr reset in a lobby of hell. B/S now. I'll be A by next week. :)
