Good fun this morning at Sarthe, races were pretty clean. I did get 2 SR Downs in one race for getting tapped from behind thus red S down to the lower chaotic S lobby where I promptly got rammed off and punted. I could have won that one, the time I lost from the punts was more than my time behind first at the end. 3rd place was good enough from the back and somehow I was spared penalties for getting punted.

I did about 6 or 7 races, didn't hit anyone, but received 3 SR Downs for getting hit ending at -3 SR loss over all. One SR Down is neutral SR so must still be -10 SR. The race is 30 sectors, that's only 0.3 SR per sector, on the low side. Perhaps I missed a few sectors without knowing. I didn't get the CRB once so somewhere I must be going over an invisible line.

Anyway, big contrast from when I left GT Sport, much cleaner. However, this was Monday morning in max SR.S, which was usually fine while people are still careful while getting used to the combo. And cars in this case, first time I've seen more than a couple GR.C cars at Sarthe, in fact there pretty much only are GR.C cars in this race. So who knows what it will look like in a few hours....

i think all the divebombers ,punters and other dirty drivers are playing race B only this week , come on the good old interlagos GR3

Good to have you back in the chaos.

Yeah, pretty wild as most people get used to these cars. Thanks to driving them in the previous le mans combos I was in lobbies way over my head, and mostly keeping up. Wasn't necessarily racing at my best, but had battles with people normally in top 16 for a couple of races. Since I was pretty much locked in on braking points and style with my car it was wild to be out braking and out cornering people I know are light years faster than me. Didnt ruin anyone's race so despite my wobbles a good result.

Now how to manage my SR with the vicious nature of the penalties there. Is race B from the back an SR saver?:lol:

Dang, I as looking forward to running this race. I was fortunate to recover quickly from my DR reset after the RB Jr. races at Monza a few weeks ago, but only because there was a car/track combo for Race A the following week that I was also unexpectedly good at. I don't know if I want to risk that again. I might just avoid qualifying and start in the back again and see how that goes.
 
Race A is pretty fun. Ferrari is a handful.
Braking points are super important here, or you slide wide easily.

Had a really clean battle up front for podium spots, finished 2nd.
I cooked the rear wheels on the exit of the last turn and missed out on a nice drag race to the finish line.
 
Ran a few races at Le Sarthe, QT is good for 10th ish starting position in the lower B's. So far there has been a mix of cars, only the Porsche seems capable of keeping up with the Nissan, people are starting to get the memo now, ha. Seen a few Mazda's in lobbies but they aren't finishing well at all. My highest finishing position so far is 2nd. Good clean racing so far 👍
 
Had a steady, but encouraging run in the 16:30 Daily C. Pleased to find myself qualifying 10th with a 3:07.676, in an A to A+ ranked lobby dominated by the one and only @GOTMAXPOWER. Wanted to play it safe for my first go, but ended up losing three places on the opening lap, the first two via slipstream and a scare at Mulsanne corner. Going into the first Ford chicane, I see a couple of Calsonic R92CPs in the gravel. Jumped as I heard a loud thump and lost half of my momentum. My mind deduced it to be a rear-end collision that I was lucky to get away with, but the replay revealed it to be something quite bizarre. Turns out that the German Calsonic car that was sitting in 8th had respawned about half a car length in front, and remained solid for a good nanosecond as I was in the process of passing through him.

Still, we get past the German with the aid of a Portuguese driver, and the pair of us get into a slipstream battle down Mulsanne Straight. I set my fuel mix to 6 so that I didn't end up compromising his run, and we each regained a couple of positions as the solitary XJR-9 and the R390 car punt cars off at Mulsanne Corner. The Jag quits along with the unlucky Calsonic car, but the Russian R92CP who he hit carries on, albeit with a 3-second penalty which promotes me up to 9th at 1/3 distance. Slipstreamed by another Portuguese driver (and another Calsonic Nissan to boot), though this didn't concern me too much as he and the German picked up separate track limits penalties.

Given how tentative my race pace was in general, there was no guarantee that I would hang on to 8th place for long. Saw the Portuguese driver get a stronger run through Indianapolis and decided to let him go, along with a Spaniard in yet another Calsonic R92CP. First track limits penalty followed soon after when I went wide at the Porsche Curves, forcing me down to 12th as the Portuguese and German drivers both caught up. Interestingly, both picked up penalties themselves coming out of Arnage, which briefly left us fighting down Mulsanne Straight again. Another track limits penalty (for missing my braking point and going wide at the first Ford chicane) meant that a top 10 spot was finally out of the question.

For some reason, the German Calsonic car disappeared as I pulled in front of him down Mulsanne, and the gap between myself, a black and gold Italian and the Russian car was generous enough for me to not lose any further places. Though the cars behind were much faster, I hung on to bring the 'Vitessa V' home in 11th.

Considering that I was put up against GOTMAXPOWER and other drivers of his calibre, this was a fairly decent run. Will need to improve some aspects of my driving in the R92CP - especially with acceleration out of slow corners - but the car feels stable and blisteringly fast down the straights. Coupled with a recent Time Trial run around Brands Hatch, I'm fairly certain that these races will prepare me well for @Drex124's Group C Challenge this weekend. Looking to fit in another few Daily Cs as the week goes on.

I am so tempted at Race A because it's one of my best tracks, early on I got some of my first wins there one day even multiple wins and fastest laps, and like with Sardegna C, I love the change in elevation and light curve of the "not straight" which reminds me of UK A roads. Fast but you have to keep on it.

Race C is going to be my home this week though, being a fan of the Group C cars over any other Gr1 fare, and knowing LeMans very well from grinding the historic race. The only thing I don't know is if I will settle with Nissan or Mazda, but I am taking every Group C car out for a spin first. Wish we had more of these, they feel real, heavy, brutish, solid, wild, like gigantic go-karts.

Don't settle. Keep switching cars. It's fun to use all five. :)

Does anyone know if the AI learn's or is it just set to one level?

AI are set. You learn the pattern, so you can navigate the "barrels" of cars, like in Donkey Kong.:sly:

If your SR gets too low, your DR is reset. Trigger levels are:
  • SR below 30, if your DR is above 50,000 it will be reduced to 50,000 (bottom of DR-A+)
  • SR below 15, DR will be reduced to 20,000 (mid DR-B)
  • SR below 5, DR will be reduced to 7,000 (DR-D)
Every contact with another vehicle may lose you some SR points, regardless of whether or not you get a penalty. It looks like you've dropped your SR to near rock bottom.

I ended up running Race C a bunch of times and got myself back up to B/S.

Lesson learned...avoid Race A lol

Those two are doing well, but the 962 is also a solid option. As long as you have slipstream on the straight you are in the battle. Also stable enough to build a gap in the curves.

Definitely that. I think pennaton had started behind me or two spots behind. Seemed to stay out of trouble and just motored away. Even managed to stay ahead of the Jag heading to Indianapolis and then pulled away in the "curves".

I was against him in when he drove the 797 and the 92. He killed me on the straights both times but I definitely pulled way ahead from indy to tertre rouge if I was clean. Didnt happen much though. :boggled:
 
Break time till tonight!

Low B DR and 3.08.8 time landed me 2 pole positions (Disconnected on one. Damit!), and Q3 and Q4.

Finished P1 on one, and under p5 on others, so that was nice :).

Handful of fun racing for a few laps with folks here and there, glad I can compete here.

Unable to dig into those corners like many can, and there’s a few places I like to fly into the sand so I’m braking more than I need too, or braking slightly when I know I don’t have to.

But between penalties and slips, I’m on full safe mode!
