This is the kind of video guide I needed. Great work! I always drive race B and this week I don't know if I love it or hate it.
I see that you included your brake bias in the video description, very helpful thanks. Are you using the pad or wheel?

I'm on a wheel . Glad you like it! I like Race B this week because I think its a challenge to overtake, and to judge it properly, get it slightly wrong and its more unforgiving than normal.

Good to see you again. Not sure how many more of those I will do this week - it is quite an effort to run a decent lap with trail braking worth so much time here. I can do it on the pad with the triggers, but it takes so much concentration having to do it 4 or 5 times in each lap. I did get a 1.01.5 but I'm not particularly consistent there. My race pace is about a second slower than that, which is not competitive especially given how much time is lost when being nudged wide on overtakes.


Yeah, that is going to be a tough one this week. For the sake of your sanity, race A or C might be your best bet. Driving the WRX like it is the GrB rather than the Gr4 doesn't seem to be the fastest way around this week.

We ran exactly the same time and agree, trail braking is hard with my inputs and you REALLY need it to get below 1.01. Video below (bit boring but cool to have a wet replay) shows you can race quite well and gain places concentrating on exits but only problem there is once someone shoves it up the inside you're toast. And yeah I pushed past the Mazda because I have a hate on for guys changing lines in a braking zone.

I quite like the challenge though and it is something different, great looking replays too , especially the onboard view. I might give Monza a lash, only Group 1 I can drive is the fake Mazda though.

I am having a strange problem at Monza. I’m driving the TS050 and the R18 and about once per race they turn around on me at the first chicane. I cannot identify what I’m doing to cause it. It’s not throttle related, because it happens at the initial right hander where I’m coasting. It’s like they simply decide that turning left is no longer possible.

If I can get that sorted I should be able to post some really good results as the rest of my pace is good in both cars.

I had that too around lap 8. The car just started to rotate through the first part of the chicane. I stopped it going around and was able to take a very wide line through the corner without grassing it. Didn't do it again or before that lap though I was more cautious through there afterwards.

My thoughts.

Compared to other groups/cars these cars are lower and are bottoming out on the sausage curbs. They are more susceptible to spin at lower speeds and when turning.

What I have been doing to combat it:

• Use less curb.
• If you do run over the sausage keep the steering straight and maintain a modest amount of throttle.
• EDIT: based on @meekrab 's response... move brake balance away from rear

The first right-left chicane is worse. If I find myself over the sausage I consider the corner lost and my thoughts are all about recovery at the cost of exit speed. The second left-right chicane is more manageable and you can straight-line over them with the normal boundary penalty risk.

Yeah I am 100pc Holden guy (though i'd take a Mustang over a Camaro) but I quite like some of the liveries for old Ford's on GTS. The green TUFF livery is especially good.

If you're not doing it already hold the brake down on your run towards Parabolica before your first lap in qualy. Give yourself as much charge as possible.

Yesterday race B was surprising good, hard and obviously there was contact, but hardly saw a dirty driver. First race today and it's complete mayhem, just one race so could be unlucky. I doubt it though, one day of clean racing is all we are allowed before people just want to win at any cost.
Done a few B's and getting the hang of this, still not good but not crashing off every race so that's something.

Based on a manual transmission and TCS=0 I was able to get a low 1:33. By shifting to Auto Transmission and TCS=2 I am comfortably in the 1:32's.

It is not a killer time but there is something to be said for adding aids until you are familiar with the combo. Same last week at St. Croix Group 3. I alternated between TCS=0 and TCS=2. TCS=0 taught me the limitations of the car and TCS=2 allowed me to be yet more aggressive and still have safety.

TCS is not really required in these cars but I am trying to combat the awful wheel spin in second gear as I think it steels hybrid energy.

Tried the 86 from P6. Was going fine until the cars ahead start losing it and bumping into one another. A Slophy was on pole, but wound up behind me after I got divebombed from an Evo.

From there, a couple were courteous, but the Slophy was seeing red. Barged past me to catch up to, I guess, the car that punted him. Mayhem ahead and I find myself in 4th.

By Lap 5(?) I was doing okay, as the AWDs are catching up. Then, another divebomb. From there, 4 cars go past. By the time I recover, I misjudge the final corber for a 1 second penalty. Finished 12th.

One player apologised, the others bolted as I was typing. I posted, "... Remember that...".

Yeah, I’m running +2 otherwise the fronts are dead by lap 10.

I think the point about weight transfer is the issue. It might be that I’m holding the trail braking just a bit too long into the turn and the weight over the fronts is turning the car around.

I did some races last night and it was not as bad, BUT, I was racing from the back under no pressure for most of them after being put into the sand at turn 1 almost every time.

I got down to a 01:33.765 (with an optimal of 1:33.100) which is fine for me with me just leaning the car. I think I had a low 1:33 in the works, but ran wide on Lesmo 2 and that was that. I also have a habit of cutting the exit of Ascari too much and getting off track penalties.

I run TCS=2 on all car categories and it puts me in a comfort zone that suits my driving style. It also provides a bit of safety like you had last week. I try switching to auto transmission for a few laps tomorrow and see what happens. Can't hurt to try stuff out.

I had time for one Race C tonight and it wasn't fun. Qualified 9th, ended up in 14th, and went from 99 SR to 80 SR.

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. I'm not all there today.

Good night in race B, surprisingly clean for the most part and I seem to have the hang of this wet stuff. Dropped my qualy one entire tenth to a 1.01.4 but goodness me that often gained me upnto 4 grid slots! This makes a huge difference as you can clear the squabbling mid pack. Sort of.

Tried a few cars, Lancer feels as cold and gutless as always, cannot get a decent time from the Mazda to save my life though it feels fast. Tried the 86 for splits and goggles and goodness me what a ton of fun, but yeah no good.

The WRX is fastest over a lap but it is definately more tally than the GTR, I raced with the GTR and to me it is way more consistent than the rex, especially through the last turn. In one race I peeled off 5 laps in the 1.01.7s, not blindingly fast but good enough to hold 3rd in an A room and the consistency is fantastic.

I am very fast through T1 and the last turn but I am being eaten alive through the middle of the track. I cannot carry the speed other do through turn 2 or turn 3. I can sometimes get on the gas well out of 3 into the right hander of 4 but turns 2 and 3, mid corner is sloooow.

Was enjoying C, but getting bored now. Too many bad drivers, me included, then you have 2 different types of car which just causes problems. It also needs some sort of strategy, even just setting the tyre wear up enough so it's actually an issue as it is you just ignore the wear and slow down ever so slightly.

Just set up another account as I'm trying something out, but Kudosprime doesn't want to play with it, any ideas? I know @Milouse comes here sometimes, but it's not a big enough issue to make a fuss.

Jumped into race B just now with mixed results in the Atenza and WRX. Definitely not mixed in the Veyron😱

Looking forward to next weeks early group 4 race when everyone suddenly realises they're still on wets😖

Race C. 8th to 2nd. A couple hairraising moments. Got tapped from the rear at T1. Saw me up to P4 On Lap 2. P3 got a 1 second and let me by on pit straight.
P1 in the R18 was gone. P2 in the 908 was keeping me 4 seconds behind. It went off and built the lead back to 4 seconds. I nearly binned it after t1 by going left, right, left. Good thing i had about a 5 second buffer to 3rd. Then, the 908 got a penalty and I caught up. Next, it went off before the PZ and I held P2 for the last 5 laps. Good replay to watch later.

Man, had some wild players in race A tonight. A few people playing the ultra aggressive game since they do whatever the game allows, not what is decent. But a few good races. Did have 1 guy wreck the whole field in the first turn. After the race I posted a generic message "thanks to the moron who wrecked the whole field at the start." And this driver replies "no problem, it's a more fun race that way."

Ugh, when is the SR system gonna deal to that one?

If you are the kind of driver who metes out vigilante justice, I implore you think carefully about it.

My second last race at Monza last night I got pushed into the sand at the exit to the first chicane on lap 1. I went from p6 to 19 seconds DFL. I kept driving and passed a few who went off in different places and finished p15.

I jumped into the next lobby and started P8 behind a couple of Pugs. Entering turn 1 I get a massive punt into the chicane, but the physics engine dampens the impact so I still get around. The same car that punted me then t-bones me off the track. Again DFL after turn 1. I drive a decent recovery race and finish P8. After the race another driver, who finished well in front of me, tells me to go and play arcade mode. I reply by saying if it’s about turn 1, I got punted through the chicane and apologize. In return I get a cryptic “check the previous replay”. I’m genuinely confused so I send him a message asking what he means. While I’m waiting for his reply I watch the replay of my last race. It turns out he is the car who punted me through the chicane.

He then responds to my message saying he punted me on purpose because I drove him off 3 times in the previous race. A race where he was always a couple of spots in front of me and we never got close to each other. I pointed this out, but had no response.

The moral? If you get your drivers mixed up when handing out “justice” you might be inadvertently ruining the experience of innocent players.

Only managed to do two Daily B races for today and finally got a win with the GT-R Gr.4 and it felt so satisfying to finally get my first win on a wet Sport Mode race. Here's how it went.

First session - Landed pole position for the first time in this race since last Monday and unfortunately it was all for nothing as the WRX player behind got too impatient in trying to go for a pass as he ended up punting me and losing my pole position but the player got karma'd as a fellow GT-R player "accidentally" hit him and we both managed to gain positions over the WRX player. Managed to land a P3 finish while the fellow player got a P2 finish. I thanked him post race and he was like "No worries he also did something stupid to me when we were queued together in this race so I did that as an act of revenge but luckily no penalties were awarded so I got away from that."

Second session - Got into pole position again and while the WRX player is back again, luckily he's two positions behind me so I should be safe from getting into an incident. Race started and just as suspected, the WRX player was being overly aggressive again in trying to overtake the dude behind me so I used that as an advantage to gain some separation from the guy who started second but that advantage was short-lived as he was able to catch up. I managed to not succumb to the pressure and landed me my first wet race win and on a car that while it's a boat to drive, it has the capabilities of winning in my opinion.

Running the R18 and have a qualy time of 1:33.2xx which is good for nearly dead last in the rooms I'm in. I usually make it up to about 10th by Lap 2 with people going off and what not. Question is, I keep getting absolutely killed on the straights. I can usually keep my gap to the player behind in the turns, but just getting driven around on the straights and end up finishing somewhere in the 12-14 range. Am I missing something with these cars? I know they're hybrid powered and there might be a trick I'm missing? Just doesn't make any sense, these guys are coming around me like I'm standing still late in the race and my lap times are not suffering too much (running 1:34's early and end up at high 1:35/low 1:36 by the final laps).

Other than that its been fun racing, I find these cars easy and fun to drive (even with the DS4). I run TCS 0 and BB +1 and car feels great even towards the end of the race. Through the 5-6 races I've done I dont think I've even gotten a shortcut penalty and my laps have been consistent, but I feel like somethings off. Maybe I'm just slow and that's that which I can deal with, but it's odd to get reeled in like that constantly.

If it’s the Pugs passing then that’s normal. Their top end is much better than the hybrids. You can make it back up in the shorter straights out of slow turns. However, if it’s other R18s there are a couple of possibilities.

They might be managing the battery better. The r18 charges under braking so slightly longer, slightly lighter braking gives you more charge and a longer straight line boost.

Or, the electric power only deploys when your front wheels are less than a certain angle and your speed is under 250kmh. If you’re doing all your tight turning as you accelerate out of the corner, you’re losing boost. This is particularly noticeable through parabolica. You need to try and minimize steering angle as much as possible when accelerating in lower gears.

The problem with the R18 is that while it's more powerful than the TS050 or the 919 (though the 908 is still in another realm entirely), the battery tends to drain completely after a couple of laps so it ends up being more vulnerable down the straights the longer the race goes on.

It is possible, however, to regenerate more energy by holding the brake and throttle together before braking zones, which has helped me in Qualifying Time Trials where I've needed to make multiple flying laps in the R18. Haven't tried this in racing conditions as I'm more comfortable with the system employed on the TS050, but this guide by OLLIE Racing should help explain how to extract more battery power out of the Audi in either scenario:


Brake balance also tends to affect the amount of energy regenerated by each LMP1 hybrid, which Kie does a good job explaining in this video he made a couple of years ago:

On a separate note, it completely blew my mind to find out that the 20:30 I did on Monday happened to be in top split. How do I know it was top split? Take a guess...

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, may have to adjust my driving style to get the most out of the R18.

Ran one race in the 919 and the car felt great, but tires seemed to deteriorate quicker than the R18 (at least for me). Might go buy the Pug and give that a shot. Thanks again.

But in all seriousness, I'll keep that in mind next time because it's been something that I've been thinking for a while now like removing music on my future replays. I look back at my past replays and thought it felt boring so I decided to add some just to make it less boring and it became normal for me ever since.

To go back on Daily Races, I tried C this time around just for once since I'm kinda done for the week. Did the race with no quali time set so it was like a last to whichever place challenge for me and at that time I realized that I was racing on peak hours so as expected I ended up being grouped into a grid full of A+ drivers including some well known players. Here I thought I was gonna get whooped but I was able to keep up and gain places via overtakes and some racing incidents that happened throughout the race and from there I managed to gain about 10 places thus finishing P10 which was alright for me considering how the top rated players were there.

With that being said, I'm done for this week and I'm gonna be practicing for next week where I look forward to racing in Willow Springs with the Gr.3 cars for Daily Race B.

How is the 908 doing in those races?

Race B is just a chilly time. I haven’t been able to get on at my normal time this week and drive with the race A crew yet. But race B is pretty nice. I cane just site back and drive a couple quick race at night on the pad.

I guess because it easy to loose pace so easily in the wet that people don’t want to push it to make a pass. Put most drives have been very polite. A couple scraps here and there but lots of side by side action.

I was looking forward to race from the back in all three events but I did not make the progress I was expecting on monday. Race A is good, put a 1.01.1 and manage to win two races today. One from 3rd and the other from pole.

Race B is like racing on ice, it take smooth input and bravery to attempt an overtake. People seems to be well behave in thoses conditions. 1.01.4 is my time at the moment but I didn't do many races.

Race C is fun but I only race for not finishing last. My QT is 1.33.4 with the 919 and it's only good to fil the back of the grid. Tried the R18 but can't really do the recharging trick, too much work and inconsistent lap time.

DR is droping fast. Lost 5 000 since monday.
