But their were specific dates Dec 14 then Dec 28, now they changed it...now it's first quarter.

They don't have specific dates because they don't know which date it will be and people won't think KY has promised it at that day. It's smart for them just to be very vague like that.

I hope ferrari and porsche are in. Gt4 will be hitting in 05 so why not have ferrari and porsche. Kaz said the licenses for the 2 would be up at the turn of the new year. I really hope to see real italian and german muscle in gt4.

*sigh* Im at the point where I dont even care anymore when it comes out it comes out, I just hope PD doesint pull the same stunt with the next GT.

And if they do, Chip, what are you going to do about it?

You are never sure when you make a game. I think the best way to look at this issue is to imagine being in Kazunori's shoes and running PD. Something I almost never say is "this is inexcusable," especially in the case of a game that's supposed to be out a long time ago but hampered by delay after delay. Don't go on the case of "Malice," in which the game was supposed to be out two years ago, but is now a pretty substandard game. It was supposed to show off the XBOX's capabilities, but failing on almost every level (like the 2003 Army Black Knights/Cadets). And even if this game ended up like Malice, it's only going to be because of the unrest of the GT fans.

Okay, it won't even be a finalist to win "Game of the Year" this year, but there is still plenty of reason to get this game next year. If you haven't given up on GT, you are probably well on your way to being a true GT fan.

the worst thing about this delay isn't the fact that we have to wait, it's the fact that this forum will be full of even more garbage threads and possibly a "one more week til GT4 comes out@!1!@~!@ LOL!~!~!" thread for another 2 and a half weeks... Hooray for more more useless threads that are all the same!

I think the problem was that, Polyphony Digital kept on suggesting the release dates, only to delay it. If they didn't tell us exactly when the game should come out(because they obviously don't know), the delays wouldn't hurt the fans that much. It may annoy some of us, because it's taking so long to develope it, but not enough to anger some fans.

I understand about the delays. P.D. crew are perfectionists, and that's great. But, if they are going to set the release date, they should try to honor it.

lol, i dont even wanna imagine how long its gonna take the online version to come out.

As far as I'm concerned, that version don't even exist...... for now.

Not to bring up a weird scenario, but would you overrule the chances of online play (beyond LAN) in this delayed build of GT4?

I doubt it. But, online mode or Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini would certainly win back the trust of GT fans. The boost in the sales that would cause might even make up for GT4 missing out on the Christmas sales.

im glad they are holding on to the game to fix whatever is wrong....it takes a lot of guts to disapoint all the people who have been counting the days until the release....i was so frustrated when they rushed gt2 out with all of its glitches.......i am willing to wait for a perfect copy of the best driving sim on the market........think of how many complaints there would be if the game came out next month and for some unknown reason you could not get past 98% completion because of some missing component of the online play........or if the game never saved any of your best lap times.........you all would be pretty angry.......lets switch this negativity around and get back to asking questions that have aleredy been answered if you only took the time to use the search box..........have a great thanksgiving, christmas, kwanza, chanukah, boxing day or whatever it is that you get together wiht your familys and celebrate this time of the year.....peace

KY doesn't care what the people think about his delays. He's got everyone by the ba**s(no pun intended) with the game that we know will be worth the wait.

This delay thing doesn't worry me as much as some others on this forum but adding the three big manufacturers would be a fantastic way for PD to reconsile with some of the fans. Remember KY said that if he had to delay the game to include them he would. I'm not saying they will be there but its looking more and more of a possibility. Ferrari 288 GTO at the Nurburgring...... :dopey: Maybe guys just maybe.

Well, here's a new tidbit for you... whether it's true or not is anyone's guess, but it makes a lot more sense than recalling a completed game:

A guy on IGN forums claims to work at SCEA, in one of their testing divisions. According to him, the game is indeed complete, and has completed the testing cycle. Ready-to-go.

He freely admits that he has no knowledge of what happens in the merchandising and manufacturing/distribution divisions.

Now, while this may be false, I would tend to believe it, simply because it fits very nicely with the other rumors that we've been hearing about. That the game did indeed "go gold" more than a week ago. That there was some undefined problem in production.. possibly a size issue, possibly as simple as a scheduling problem at the manufacturing facilities. Either way, the bottom line was the same: They wouldn't have enough copies for launch day. Only logical solution? Delay the launch until enough copies can be manufactured.

Now, could someone PLEASE tell me how ANY of this is the personal fault of Kazunori Yamauchi, or anyone at Polyphony Digital? Seeing as how they handed a finished product to Sony two weeks ago and haven't seen hide nor hair of it since?

I hope this isn't the official, final North America release date, but the playstation.com has GT4 release at 03/2005.

This push back in the release date is a good thing. It gives time to gamers to knock down the games that have recently came out like GTA:SA, MGS3, Halo 2, HL2, etc.

I don't understand all this bellyaching about GT4 being delayed. Yeah, it has been delayed too many times for it's own good, but these people who complain are also missing out on all the great games that have been released.

Very true. I'm about halfway through Bard's Tale.. not sure how far along I am in Burnout 3... GTA isn't my cup of tea.. no Xbox for Halo.. don't play on the PC, so no Half-Life. But I am a few hours into MGS3 and loving every minute of it. :)

I've always been thinking that no matter when the game would come out, it would be OK, as long as it was before Xmas. So every pushing back of the release date did not affect me, but this one is too much. I'm pissed right now and I totally lost confidence in PD or sony. They are not able to bring the game out in a reasonable time and this is because of one thing: they know we'll buy the game even if they mess with it. So I think it's about time they get competition (thanks Forza, I'll get you) and that we do something to wake them up. I'll buy it anyway but I might get on the Forza side in the future if PD continues to act like this. If Forza 2 on Xbox 2 ends up being better than GT5 on PS3, I'm switching.

See ya :sly:

I'll have to try this. Last one I tried was MGS2 and I couldn't get past the first level. I suck at it. I didn't know what to do. :nervous:

I'm pretty sure the GT4 will win this round by an landslide, but on the next console, who knows?. My money's still on the PS3, but the competition from the other two consoles will be a lot tougher. Sony/P.D. lost the confidence of many fans with these delays.

The only time that "loss of faith" happens is when a game is delayed, and the final product isn't worth the time invested in it. Fable, for example. However, when GT4 comes out and is viewed (yet again) as the best racing game in the history of the universe, most everyone will agree that it was worth the wait. And the delays will be forgotten. Yes, forgotten... once you're playing GT4 in your own living room, it just won't matter any more.

Waiting for a game like this is going to be like looking for girlfriend/boyfriend (unless you're a pimp). You go through some rough times, but eventually, goals are achieved and all the waiting and frustration finally dies out and is replaced by love and appreciation. I've given something like this to threads at least three times in one day, and I won't stop unless I get my point(s) across. But you can't be ticked off forever.

When I read an old website where a person talked about GT4 at E3 2003, this nutjob says that "it's the same Gran Turismo." Whatever PD decides to do with the game is up to them. But based on the game itself, it's done to them. Just that the translations or whatever is holding back. Some people wouldn't even overrule the chances of them working on online play.

Regardless, some people just need to calm down about this. When I'm saying this, I'm not hurting anyone, I don't mean any harm, it's just that we're being a little too critical about this deal. Just give it a little more wait. To the fans, GT4 is going to come out. It's not going to be cancelled or anything like that. To the game reviewers, please take into account what GT4 has been through to continue the success of the series. If you judge on no online play, crashes, ****ty AI or anything like that, OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO BE "ANOTHER GT GAME!" Look at all the new features, all the revisions, and oh yeah, all the many cars spanning from the 19th Century to the future.

Are we clear? I should be going now.
