OK the :crazy:insanity:crazy: is setting in now so Its time for some uber-wishfull thinking. So since It is coming out in the first quarter of 05 (jan, feb, mar) It's possibe that it would be coming out on my birthday! That would be great for all of us seing as how my birthday is january third!!! :dopey: :dopey: :dopey: :dopey: :dopey: :dopey: :dopey: :dopey:

Yay for birthdays! (it ain't gonna happen)

KY is smart for not claiming a month. Then someone would focus on that month, now they know it's going to be somewhere around 1st Quarter. Only smart move so far by him.

to all the people who keep saying "its just a videogame, you could wait"- please, i ask you kindly to just shut up.
Excuse me? Anybody can say what they want, within bounds of good reason. You have no right to suppress others' opinions. I've been waiting plenty long too, about 2 years (didn't take me long to finish most of GT3), but for pete's sake, complaining isn't going to make it come faster. PD doesn't give a rat's ––– what some kids on a forum say… I'm sure they have their (good) reasons for the delays, because they're not so stupid that they'd delay it for some crummy reason.

I'm sure PD know what they're doing (that's an understatment). Why else would our antisipation be so high? Like on the Guinness advert : "Good things come to those who wait." Amen to that!

Or Jordan's favorite quote "He who expects nothing will be satisfied." (I think)

We should have a poll. Who is annoyed at the delays, who is happy it's still going to arrive and who doesn't give a damn no more.

How about not, we and many others have already seen complaints of everyone and the ones that don't care. No need.

I'm not worried about when the game is released.

My shopping list (in order):
1. 1990 Nissan Skyline GTS-4 (getting the ownership papers this weekend, bringing it home at Christmas - i could get it this weekend if i wanted, but decided to wait and give myself a decent Christmas present :D).
2. Driving Force Pro (once i pay off the car, $1,500 to go and i should have that paid in four weeks, i'll be buying this with the next pay hopefully. So in about five weeks then.)

Skyline! No way!! Then, I saw that you're in New Zealand. You guy's are lucky, we only get the latest skyline(Infiniti G35) here in the U.S. Those earlier Skylines are so sweet. My ex-coworker, who was from NZ used brag about his Skyline back home.....

i agree they have good reasons for the delays- its tough on them also. and i'm not trying to surpress others opinions, i apologize if thats the impression i gave. however, it is also my opinion that saying "its just a game" is rather obvious, and ignorant. weren't you also surpressing the gentlemens opinion when you edited his picture out? i don't mean to start a fight or nothing, just standing by my opinion :).

Let me tell you, GTPlanet. I too, am deeply saddened about the delay deal. And the only reason why I'm talking about it here is because this is the proper situation when a delay is mentioned. I tell you, I'm not happy about this, but I'm not going to go off on a different tangent about this. This brings up a weird situation, especially if the game is delayed until maybe early-mid January. Why is it a weird situation? I will turn 22 years old on January 15th. If the game comes before my birthday = mad sick birthday present! Hahaha, you dig me homie?

But on the serious side, I can't say I'm not bothered by this. This game has been through delays, several updates, and more. Keep in mind, Duke Nukem Forever is basically TAKING forever instead of being forever. I'm not upset at Polyphony Digital or Kazunori Yamauchi for yet another delay (then again, what are WE going to do about it?). I normally say "IGNore IGN," but if this delay news is true from IGN, then "IGNore" won't apply in this context.

For some people, this will be a test of what kind of GT fan you are. True fans don't like the notion of waiting any longer, but still look forward to the game even if it is released in 10 years. Casual fans are disappointed about a GT game's delay even after a set date has been made. Unsatisfied fans give up on a game delayed multiple times and look for alternatives.
But as I said, I'm as disappointed about this as you are, GTPlanet.

It had the f-word in it, which is a violation of the GTP Terms of Service. We have a policy of keeping the content acceptable for children of all ages… bickering is fine, but strong profanity isn't.

i don't mean to start a fight or nothing, just standing by my opinion.
No problem. :)

From Game Spot:

Stateside, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced a new ship date for US gamers. Gran Turismo 4 moves from a ship date of December 14 to a ship date sometime in the January-to-March window of next year.

It is not gauranteed it will be out in January..we might have to wait till Feb or March!!

First quarter of '05 like the first post states. There are no specific months for a reason, adramire, figure it out.

The January date is simply there to appease the optimists. If PD and Sony hold true to their promise of Q1 2005 (The odds of that are probably 50/50 right now given their track record), it'll probably ship in March sometime WITHOUT online play.

i pray this isn't the case :nervous:

But their were specific dates Dec 14 then Dec 28, now they changed it...now it's first quarter.

Apples and oranges...

Dec 14th=(old) Targeted North American Release
Dec 28th=Confirmed (for now) Japanese release
Q1 2005=(new) Targeted North American release

You're getting confused with the Japanese release, get your facts straight. Dec 28th is still the Japanese date, they haven't changed it since yesterday.

Jedi2016
Dec 28th is still the Japanese date, they haven't changed it since yesterday.

which brings me to the question i've been meaning to ask; how much further can our release date be from the japanese date anyway? if it DOES come out in japan on 12\28, would the chances of us actually getting it in january be good?

It's hard to tell. Without knowing what truly went on, we won't know. If the problem was simply a bad decision or mistake in shipping by Sony, then it's probable that we get it in January. Although, you have to think that Sony is looking to make some more money, and maybe they'll release it sometime in February or March when people will have more money.

If the delay was caused by a technical problem in the game where Polyphony has to deal with it, then we could have it any time in the first quarter of 2005, depending on the size of the problem.

I'd say it's very likely we'd get it early-mid January, assuming it's actually in stores in Japan on 12/28. The original U.S. release date was only eleven days after the Japanese release date. By that logic, we can probably expect it on 1/4 or 1/11, since most new games come out on Tuesday here in the States.

That's assuming the 12/28 date holds, and there are no further technical delays in the U.S. release.

And hey Sage - when you are 38 (nearly 39 I regret to add), that extra month's wait makes a hell of a lot difference - 1 more month equals another month of eyesight deterioration/ reflexes slowing down etc etc.

It's alright for you youngsters! :sly:

But hell - if I can still type at 90 wpm I've still got some game life in me yet! :)

Everyone just take a minute!

GT4 will come out. Don't get uptight about the delays because then everyone will start complaining again and this forum won't be as good as it has been.
