See, this banning was stupid. It did absolutley nothing. He came back, so what did it do???
 
What did it do? It made him quit posting under his old name. We can ban usernames/IP's all day long, but there's NO WAY we can't totally prevent someone from returning. Does that mean we should just not ban them and let them continue to stay and disrupt the forums? No.:)

I don't know where the guys get the energy to carry on like that. Thanks to my notoriously short attention span, I generally forget what I was angry about between my initial reaction and then starting to type.

face it, you didn't think about me at all after you banned me, there was no way i was going to get your attention.

i still think i got banned for a stupid reason, and i won't go around the swear filter anymore for swearing. for example; i don't see how the word "dick" is swearing. seriously. i've posted playlist threads where i had to go around the filter when the songs name was "moby dick". what words are on the list?

i promise not to go around the filter for actual swearing, such as "****", etc... but i mean, come on, dick? bah... off on a rant i go again.

I'll admit that blocking the "d" word is a bit extreme, but on most internet forums people don't talk about Moby D*ck all the time, usually the term "d*ck" only arrises when calling names or just being vulgar.


Since you promised, I'll talk with "J" and see if we can't get the Mayor back.;)
 
hehe, the return of the bannished is taking place...well at least there haven't been major problems...

the only time I almost got banned on a board was at the GTH, I found that I could hit the "send reply" button a million times and my post count went from about 20 to 400 within 10 min...Builder(the owner of GTP) wasn't too happy with me, but I pleaded that I didn't know I couldn't do that, and he let me off the hook, but a lot of people were pissed at me lol....no big problems since.

i got banned from the GTF for a week once... heres the story:

there was this thread about macs, i went in there with a bunch of crap about how i hate macs and they suck, and i ended up calling an admin a "blowpop", and got suspended for a day... but they had the forum set up weird and so people that were suspended could get into the admin and mod forums, full access! i went in and took a ton of screenshots and stuff... then my suspension was up, and someone posted some thread, and i posted a screenshot from the admin forum in there (it had to do with the thread topic), and i got banned... then i apologised about a week later and they unbanned me.

As an everyday user and sometimes admin on both Mac and Windoze networks, I have to say Macs do not suck. I'd much rather admin my old Appleshare Ethernet group than try to figure out why Win2kPro is being tempremental today.
 
yeah, but see i was basing my argument on experience with mac os 8.6 on an original imac *puke*. i hear that osx and even os9 are much better than 8.6.
 
I use 9.02 on my G4; and 8.6.something or other on my old PowerPC. No real problems with either but my older machine is getting a little long in the tooth. Haven't tried OSX yet.

OS9 is pretty stable and clean. I like the MacOS because it doesn't have nearly the RAM overhead that Windoze does.
