Reading this thread makes me feel like a scrub at level 12 and Not knowing hardly anything.
Don't beat yourself up. I had an entire week off paid to play the game. Otherwise I would not be anywhere near the character levels that I am.

@Terronium-12 Sorry bud, had to go and get some food.

That strike is a ball ache, I wish there was a checkpoint after you kill each one at the end.
What strike did you do? [without spoiling anything for others] I enjoy all of them but some are for sure much harder than others. You can probably just say the planet and I will know which one it is.

It's the one with the three Psion(sp?) Flayers

Don't worry about it. :p

We got it done eventually after dying once (twice?) more. We didn't get anything good. At all. Consider yourself luck you left when you did.

Ah yes, that one. The only one I dislike more is the Nexus one. The game tried to make me do it three times in a row at level 22 but I had to leave it on the third, enough was enough. I've never gotten anything really good from a strike though, just rare stuff that's usually a lower level than I am. I get better stuff from engrams but that's probably only because I've had so many.

Anyone find or earn any legendary gear yet?

I've bought the Dustwalker gauntlets from the Hunter Vanguard, on top of that I've just got four Legendary capes; one from each faction (FWC, DA and the one I can never remember the name of, they're only 2500 each) and the Vanguard's.

So, update, is there a patch note for it yet? I mean it has literally just happened so I don't expect there to be yet but who knows.

Oh, and yeah, about that exotic bounty I got... I've read that after I get the 500 points from void kills in the Crucible (you get either 4 or 5 for a kill and it deducts 2 for a death), I have to spend 20 motes of light (I have 17) on 'cleansing' the thing, then there's something about doing a certain strike but not actually killing the strike target for ages until a different boss comes along. No one has actually done that yet (on Reddit or the Destiny forum) but hopefully that's the last step! I guess if I'm ever going to have a chance of doing that I'll have to team up with two others with the same bounty.

Edit: I've just been reading about that raid thing, it won't support matchmaking? That's not cool, nowhere near enough people actually communicate on the PS4 version so it'll preclude anyone who hasn't got five friends with next-gen consoles, none of my friends have one (hell, I don't even have one, I'm using my brother's). Borderlands 2 was very coop-centric but you could always get by without actually talking to the people you were playing with.

Ah yes that one is quite tough. I found a great way to beat but feel a bit like I am cheating at times. There are actually vehicles that spawn that make that much easier. The very last enemy is a bit tougher but I stay at the top of the hill and fire with the vehicles. But you MUST keep moving up there because of obvious reasons if you don't. [Avoiding spoilers.]

@neema_t congrats on the legendary items. As for motes of light I think I only have about 9 of those. So congrats on that too.

Google destiny raid matchmaker . Someone has built a site to help with matchmaking for the raids
You are correct. I looked it up after your reply. Still surprises me because it truly feels like 60fps on the X1 compared to the 360 version.

Anyone find or earn any legendary gear yet? My brother and one of my friends have at least 1 legendary item each. I don't have any yet but I am working on building up one of my sponsors. The emo looking guy? Dead Orbit or something is the name of the group or sponsor?
I got my first piece of legendary gear a few minutes ago. A super awesome chest plate for a titan. To bad I'm a warlock :).

What benefit do the sponsors have? Do they just hand or free purple gear sometimes or do you still have to buy it all from them?

The sponsors allow you to earn credit toward the Legendary gear they have. But to earn the credit you need to complete bounties and the free roam activities.
Okay. I'm now level 20. What do I do now?
Now you need to start putting on "Light" boots, armor, helmet, and gloves. That's how you level up toward 21,22,23,23........ Look for items with the word "Light" on them. Even if the total armor is lower, you MUST have armor with "light" to level up.

OR you can choose a sponsor as I explained to bevo. I call them "sponsors" but they have different names but sponsors is a perfect way to explain them. I think there are 3 different sponsors in the citadel (tower). As you level up with sponsors you can buy legendary items from them that have light.

But bottom line, light is really about the only way to level up past 20.

Is that like future war cult etc?
Do I have to go with one of those or can I stick with Vanguards?

So the sponsers work like the crucible gear only you are now getting sponser levels instead of crucible levels to buy gear? Does it benefit you to go that route instead of dealing with the crucible sellers ?

I'm at 24 now and am having a really hard time getting legendary gear to get past 24. I've tried to get to 26 for tomorrows raid but I don't think it's gonna happen. I just can't find any gear.

I think it just depends on what you want, if a sponsor has an item you want more than anything in the Crucible vendors' inventories, just go level them up instead. You can also increase your rank with sponsors by doing bounties and patrol missions while wearing their stuff, so it doesn't have to replace the Crucible, it can replace Vanguard instead.

Sounds like a lot of fun grinding past Lvl 20. I'm holding off from story stuff and doing Patrol to grab gear and materials us bounties etc.
The game is a lot better is you jump right into the story. If you level up and get some decent weapons it'll take away from the fun of the bosses. Some of the boss fights are really challenging if you go through them at a natural progression. If you level up to fast before you start out it will make the story really boring.

After Venus I just tore into leveling up. I hate that stupid planet... well, hated that stupid planet. :p

I'm level 22 now but really don't know what I'm doing, I've not touched the crucible yet :|

I have 2 legendary items and quite a few rares but still stuck with green gauntlets/primary/secondary weapon.

So where do you find these 'sponsers'?

Is Venus really that hard? I did the first level last night and didn't hate it.

Then again, I've done Devil's Lair 3 times...

Hard? No. Aggravatingly annoying? Yes.

I recommend to try it once, just to be sure you aren't one of the many (like me) who get constant Bee errors. Everything in the game runs smooth and great, but the Crucible is unplayable.

My housemate and I both bought the Destiny White PS4 bundle and a few mates from work also have it.

We played it all last night and today I've had the day off so I've basically stayed on playing. So far I'm level 12 and my housemate is only 6, but once he is back from work I'll co-op with him to get him upto speed.

This game is far far more fun playing with a friend then on its own.
Just wish that a tiny bit of skill I have in the racing world could leak over onto the FPS

I hit the jackpot. Just got my first bit of exotic gear from a legendary engram, however, it's Crest of Alpha Lupi - which is for a Hunter. 339/439 Def.

I ain't even mad though. All the more encouraging to start another save.

Any word on the 6 person raid for today yet??
EDIT: My friend just got in with his level 23. Still not sure of the minimum level requirement yet.

Congrats on the game and yes it is MUCH more fun with friends. I actually get quite bored by myself if friends are not on.

I've played for a total of 8 hours, but I've been taking it so slow and exploring as much as I can. I managed level 13 last night, and completed the first strike mission on earth. Was a pain in the ass at first, but what was odd is that the last boss was probably the easiest part of the mission. I just wish there was a quicker way to earn glimmer, besides those useable items.. I blow mine way to fast haha.

I have this Uncommon Machine gun that auto-aims for headshots/weak points, its ridiculous. Its not much of a typical machine gun though, as it only holds 23 rounds but still has the reload time of an normal machine gun. Still none the less, it comes in handy.

Minimum level has been advertised at level 26. Funny thing, I have not tried coop yet, and have been doing it solo and I'm still having a blast.

The 6 person raid has been advertised as 26 but my friend is in there right now with his level 23.

So it sounds like they "recommend" 26 but lower levels can indeed join. So that is great news.

EDIT seems like you must be at least level 23 to enter.

Thats good to hear, although I dont think I'll be joining that anytime soon. I'm half the recommended level haha.

I have a question. Does the level/type/rank of your enemy determine the quality of item drops? or is that determined by your level?

Could do with some help doing the weekly heroic strike on ps4 if anybody is up for it.

This is actually a good question. It mainly depends on your level. So if you are level 10 and you go back to the very first level with enemies that are level 1, you will usually still get loot drop around your level 10. It might not be legendary or extremely great loot but it will still be somewhat around your level.

As you get further in the game the loot gets much better. You also get loot in the multiplayer depending on your current level. And the loot online is fully random. Doesn't matter if you win, lose, kill, or die. Its very random. So that's kinda good news. You also level up much faster in the multiplayer. But I don't really care much for the MP so I usually avoid it. The only mp mode I enjoy is the one that has vehicles. That's how I am with any game. Even with BF3 or BF4. I only play the modes with vehicles and complete chaos.

If you don't mind waiting for a bit I'll be back on a little later. I need to fix myself some lunch though.

Grinding makes a person hungry. :grumpy:

I'm only for about 25 mins now so maybe tomorrow.

I'm only for about 25 mins now so maybe tomorrow.

If you're doing it tomorrow I'll join you, can't tonight though.

I tried Crucible for the first time tonight, my brother urged me to start on the PvP part of the exotic bounty. In one game I went 20-6 and got 74 out of the 500 points I need, so I'm a bit more optimistic... About that part. Then I have to spend all 20 motes of light I've accrued so far and then try to get a certain enemy to spawn in a level 26 strike by not actually killing the strike target. I really don't know how I'm going to find two players to help me with that, apparently it's not easy, I've seen some comments from people saying it's taken them over 6 hours to get the guy to appear...
