Its no longer listed for sale.... :( It was an E320 Wagon.

Then theres a 1990 300E 2.6 Sedan with 46k miles and for 3k. :D

I still want a 190. Badly. The problem is, though, that every single one seems to have at least 300,000 miles on them, and while I'm sure they will last longer than cockroaches during a nuclear war, I'm still wary.

@ M5- ouch, just ouch, easily the best car I've ever driven though. It is realistic for me to aspire to owning one though.

@ Toronado and Matt- I bought my car for $1600, my friend has a near mint 95 (last year for the indestructible 124) that he bought for $4900

How expensive is it to replace the little fog lamps inside the headlight assembly? I'd imagine that you would have to take the whole damn thing off to get at it.

if you are just talking about the bulbs then its about $5.00 and very easy, just go around behind it and unclip the bulb assembly. If you are talking about the reflector then its a pain in the ass because that plastic that surround the headlight and covers the foglights (american models only) is extremely brittle at 20 years old and will almost certainly break when trying to remove it. plus there are several screws that are difficult to get to in the process. New plastic headlight surrounds cost about $30 each but aren't worth replacing. when I get my next 124 I'm getting euro lights asap

I refuse to acknowledge that anything in a car built when Mercedes was run by engineers could break.

Honestly I don't get why they replaced headlights that were superior in every way with horrible plasticy ones... They will break if you look at them wrong though, I've had to replace both sides twice with equally crappy junkyard units.

Nope. Still nonsense. They created the first car, for chrissakes. And then the beancounters began to run the company. So sad.

And yes, this is sarcasm.

I agree with you Toronado - I'm trying to sell my parents on a '92-'94 400E - "but it'll break!" they shout - um, no. It's a W124. God himself couldn't break one.

It will break, but only enough to annoy you and if you take care of it the car will take care of you, and it will NEVER EVER leave you stranded, even if theres no oil, trans fluid, or cooland the only way to stop a 124 is to make it run out of gas.

I saw an S420 today. W140. And a couple of Nissan Z's, one being a 350 and one being a Z32. There was also a Mazda RX-7 FB and an AW11 MR2. And the nicest Isuzu Trooper I have ever seen.
Made me realise that I need to go to Newark more often.

 The car show shots are in the Videos and Photos forum - here. Didn't want to post them in this thread lest I violate the rules!

Thanks, both of you. That thread made my day. :D

M5Power
Any idea how many there are in the nation? There's at least one registered in Denver. I'm not exactly desperate to see it like the Veyron or the Enzo, but it would be pretty nice and I'm surprised you've seen more than one!

Unfortunately, I have no idea. Come to think of it, I've been wondering where some of you guys come up with the sales statistics for various cars. Is there some common website that I'm just unaware of, or is it a subscription service?

On to this week's batch, mixed as it is:

BMW M5 E39

Illegally parked, but who cares when it's such a cool car?

Porsche 911 Targa 4S

Had to look it up; I thought it was some cheesy rebadge. Neat, though. That makes it, what, one of 42,000 possible 911 combinations? At least when someone says that they own a silver 911, they have a good chance of being one of a few.

Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG 2001

Non-supercharged, but better built. Sold less than the later, faster, cooler version. Still looking for the same-era S63 (http://www.mercedes-amg.com/, then Engine Room -> History -> 6.3L V12).

Lotus Elise

I really wonder what stops me from ditching the STI and picking up a two-year old Elise. Oh, right: it's tiny. Wait, that's a good thing....

Mazda RX-7 Turbo (1990?)

Love those red wheel centers. A friend of mine has one in blue that he's been rebuilding for three years. I think the only excuse is that he's doing it mostly by himself. Good thing he's got two other cars to drive in.

Chrysler Aspen Hemi

Why was this made? Wasn't the Durango supposed to do this job? Oh, right: it's got a 'Hemi.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

I saw this getting off the highway way ahead of me, and thought I lost it. A fantastic example of what US car companies can do when they get their heads out of the sand. Is this the special orange that was offered for a limited time, or is it just a standard Z06 color?

No. It was introduced when the Z06 became a $70,000 vehicle. The Atomic Orange Metalic Tintcoat is also a $750 option which is funny because the $66,000 Pace Car has no charge for it's Special Paint job.

Ugh the Aspen is such a stupid vehicle, not to mention it's ugly. Just buy an Escalade if you want a huge American luxury SUV.

I just Google 'x car production numbers.' Usually, if it's a more valuable car, you'll get an amount. Frequently, Wikipedia will publish amounts, but I'm quite weary of them. Decent spots. I've seen a few Targa 4S's at this point and I have to admit I love Porsche diversifying the model like this. I'm not a big 997 guy, but it's nice to see all these models.

While perusing the local exotica dealers a friend of mine spotted something interesting parked down a backstreet behind a fence. Naturally, we went to investigate.

And we found a Gallardo and next to it, a Lamborghini Diablo Millenium Roadster, a Countach with the big wing so it's at least a LP400 S, and finally a Diablo VT. Hopefully will get pics today. I know it's kind of at a dealer but a Countach and a Diablo Roadster are pretty unusual so I think they warrent a picture.

It's not very exciting but I think this is the first time I've ever seen a 530xi wagon. I don't think I've even seen one on a dealers lot come to think of it.
