Blah, oh well. I thought I could start something good up here.

Most of you know what a 30th aniversary Trans-Am is, for those that don't here it is.

You guys are forgetting this is an American car, mostly. It doesn't have that much world acclaim. So, the chances are slim that a PD member would put into a GT game. They're to busy putting in 82 different versions of the Skyline, anyway.

But back to the Trans-Am from Pontiac. I am not sure I know what's the WS-6. I don't know too much about the Trans-Am, sadly. .

WS-6= its also called the "performance package" its basically just a tuned up v-8. you can always do that to a normal v-8 but this one is already done for ya! plus you can still do ALOT of tuning to this making it a car not to be taken lightly...

but that 30th ann, does OWN. blue rims rock...

man, i shouldve done a petition for this a year ago, maybe PDigital wouldve taken it into consideration. i bet if the DO put a trans am, it will be just a basic v-8 version which is fine, but in a game where details are everything, ws-6 shouldve made the cut.

i that must be the ugliest car i've seen today

And no offense, Lethalchem, but... with a Mustang thread, you highlight more on the Corvette than the Mustang in post #232. What's up with that? I'm not attacking you, this is just-for-fun.
After all the rediculous BS posts that have been made in this thread, you chose that one to take issue with? I think you're just looking for something to complain about.

That one post was in response (as quoted) to another individuals love for the Vette. My subsequent post was to show that mustang owners DO have appreciation for other peoples cars as well, and that we don't think mustangs are the "end-all be-all" of the automotive world. I'd say that was fairly on topic, considering how the the topic was threadjacked into bashing American vehicles long ago.

I can guarentee that if a new member was to come here and make another thread on how good the Mustang is, you'd see me saying I don't really care because we don't get Mustangs over here and I prefer TVR's anyway, and then loads of other members saying, Mustangs are crap.

I'm not sure I understand your point.

Hi I'm new here but I've been viewing threads for a while.

Anyway, even if I'm not a big Firebird Fan, I been thinkin' since GT2 about these
in the game. They may not be so cute or have an A1 handling, but they have enough power to be an interesting fit in the GT4 lineup. :sly:

Anyway, it could complete the American muscle lineup with Camaros and Vettes.

See ya :)

Thanks Darin for seeing both sides of the story. After watching your dad's tape, what cars do you want to see from there on the game?

The WS-6 package included a ram air package that gave it an extra 5 hp.

It doesn't matter what cars you want to see in the game the line up for old american muscle is going to be something like:

Buick:
Custom

Chevrolet:
Camaro Z28 69'
Chevelle '70
Corvette 54'
Corvette 67'
Corvette Stingray 68'
Corvette 427 69'

Dodge:
Challanger '71
Charger 71'
Superbee

Ford:
GT40

Mercury:
Cougar '67

Plymouth:
Cuda '70
GTX '67
Roadrunner '71
Superbird '70

Pontiac:
GTO '64

Shelby:
Cobra
Cobra Coupe
GT350
GT500

& I wouldn't be surprized to see a few extras, eg stangs & firebirds thrown in, since we've only seen 1/2 of the cars at e3 so far.

i always like these

I'm fine with any Pontiac as long as it's not a modern one. Blegh.

Darin you yourself were against muscle cars in the Mustang thread itself, now you start another one, for the same fact; just on MSN a few days ago you told me the Mustang was america's worst car, it sucked, and you didn't care about it. Oh and you also said it sounded like ****.

But now;

"Its America's #1 natural muscle car. its got the V8 and that nice sound its good. I'm kinda tooken interest into Ford and I'll be glad to hear what anyone has to add. Okay, lets talk about All the American Muscle cars and the Muscle that will be in GT4."

The Ford hater turns interested into Fords, within 2 days. :dopey:

Damn, Americans with American pride.

Wasn't that an oh so good quote?

Darin
Whos arguing? I'm not. Just this thread needs to die. its about a worthless car, and its got worthless posts of american trash...

From a thread about Mustangs.

Darin
We all know this. TVR's own everything. I compared that, cause its the closest to a American **** ball.

And you forgot the [/QUOTE] in [ /QUOTE]

Wanna see the mother of all of them?

Darin
Some reason, that 390hp in a regular mustang is 190hp.. You don't know crap.

Mustang's suck, and everyone knows it. The only reason people buy it, is because of the history it has.. And Ford's suck.

[/rant]

Sorry for the large post, have to make my point clear.

The WS6 package was the same as the SS package for the Camaro SS. They were the high end performance package for a normal T/A, Formula, or Z28. It got different suspension tuning, bigger wheels and tires, different final drive for quicker acceleration, Ram Air hood and intake, more exhaust flow, and a slight ecu tweak. You can compare it to a GS-R and Type-R Integra. Very similar cars, but the Type-R is just that little bit harder edged. Same with these cars. The standard V8 F-body cars were pretty potent. But the WS6 and SS just take it up a notch or two. The standard LS1s of the time were rated for 305hp, with the SS and WS6 rated at 335. They actually put out more than that, but because at GM, you never outdo the Vette, they underrated it. But, dyno a WS6 or SS next to a stock C5, and you'll see very similar power.

Beautiful machines, fine displays of real, raw American Muscle. That yellow-and-black puts the black-topped (GT1) NSXR to shame.

Gawd if only I was a multimillionaire... *sigh*

When Dad test drove a Buick Century (oh, god! :yuck: ) a few years back there was a 30th parked in the showroom. Just gorgeous. Blue-and-white seats inside, the blue rims, everything. Just beautiful.

Hello again, Darin, McLaren'sAngel, Eagle, and others.

When I said I was a car enthusiast, I wasn't lying through my teeth. And I never seriously or intentionally attacked muscle cars. I know I said that time that muscle cars aren't a problem, it was the arrogance of others to attack other cars. Like the one who said "let's take out the Cappucino (Suzuki) and put in a few more muscle." In my counterstatement, you have to account for everyone. Not everyone is going to like the same cars as you do. Gran Turismo has been about balance ever since GT2. The balance, however, was mostly in favor of Japan, since it featured used machines. GT3 put in a few more cars while keeping most of the manufactuers, and adding (but not neglecting) Belgium's Gillet and Ford Australia.

Back to muscle cars, though. I think many of the major ones were at least highlighted in GT3, if not GT2. The thing here is, how do you balance muscle cars as well as other American machines (after all, not all American cars are muscle cars) in a world-class racing game like this one? And as much as I hate to say it, you tune a muscle car to do whatever you want it to do. All I ask is that we get some good Mustangs, beautiful Corvettes from 1957-1963 and 1997+, maybe bring back the Challenger and Charger, and I'm covered. I don't need to have a muscled-up GT4. I have to remember that there are more great cars in this world other than American cars. That's not a rant, but what a person who respects many types of car would say and believe.

It's nice to see sUn and I share the same love of details in such situations.

How about we all go post in the Mustangs thread? Or the Pontiac Trans Am thread? They've all turned into Muscle Car wishlists. How about that "Muscle car people; what cars do you want in GT4?" thread that got started a while ago? How about one of the older muscle car threads?

What's stupidest of all is that we have people like 98cobra who come out with a thread dedicated to muscle car discussion and then come along and post their wishlists again in a few other threads. Don't you get bored of it? What's wrong with you people?

As for the status of this thread... working on it, just be patient.

In the realm of GranTurismo - a mustang is never going to beat one of the Japanese twins, because they are no good on a circuit.
THe '00 Cobra R has pulled over 1g on the skid pad, something only an elite few cars can achieve (Ferrari 360s, a few Viper ACR's, and NO Japanese cars). I've got a '91 Mustang GT that I race in SCCA Solo II. My only suspension mods are shocks/struts, some chassis bracing, adjustable caster/camber plates with an aggressive alignmentand progressive rate lowering springs. Because of my altering rear end gearing I'm placed in a modified class. I post times better than the Porsche Boxters, BMW M3's, 3000GT VR-4s, and all the 80s early 90s Supras and RX7s. With minimal investment and proper driving Mustangs will handle amazingly well. You just have to pick good lines for smooth weight transfer. The hardest part is keeping the back end planted when exiting corners. In open track racing with wide sweepers and where the torque can be used effectively Mustangs really start to shine.

Comparing the Mustang to Ferrari's? You must really rank 'Stangs highly. A GT40 to Ferrari comparison would be more appropriate. You could buy a Ford and have enough money let over to add all the carbon fiber accents, wood trim and Italian leather you wanted.

So why do Mustangs have little or no 'circuit' racing history, apart from the early Shelbys and early 70's Trans-Am racers. I remember they used to race Mustang GT's in the British, German and European Touring Car Championships in the 90s' - they used to rumble around at the back of the field getting lapped after about 8 laps by the Sierra RS500s' and BMW M3s'
