something that always gets lost in writing ... sarcasm.

well, this has re-affirmed one thing for me about the GT community vs. the forza community. people are A LOT more mature here. it's possible to disagree here, have a back-n-forth, and then walk away without worrying about some punk slashing my tires or making it their mission in life to "avenge". lol.

thanks for a healthy argument and not resorting to childish name-calling, etc. if i offended, it was not my intent.

now, just wait for me on the ring in my exclusive, pre-order only, extra-special bonus delay-special DLC ... haha ... j/k. but i'll be sure to look you up when the game's out.

p.s. interesting "catch-phrase" --> another point of view.

I see what you did there.;)

I haven't sifted through all 17 pages of discussion on this, but I've gotten the gist of peoples' points. So my comments, then:

I think a game like Gran Turismo is taylor-made for downloadable content. I am sure I will be flamed for making this comparison, but I liken it to the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games in that regard. As new content (music in the form of new songs, or new car models in this case) becomes available, it's a nice way to bridge the gap between subsequent full-size releases. The consumer is made happy with making smaller additional contributions (if it's something he/she wants), and the game makers make some additional money along the way.

To think the game will not have DLC is ignorant in this generation of "connected consoles". And to think that all of that DLC will be given away for free is almost as ignorant. I could definitely see PD (or SONY as a promotion of sorts) giving away certain cars or tracks for free once in awhile just to lure people back in, but I think that they are planning to do a LOT of charging for additional cars, tracks, parts, etc. in the years until GT6 is ready. And I think that won't be until the next gen PS4.

Just my thoughts on it. Not trying to point out anybody being right or wrong.

you speak the truth

imo, the way that PD go about their business, i think they ought to just target each new GT release with the release of the next Playstation

surely they couldn't develop a game more slowly than Sony develop a console...

or could they?

They probably could. Sony likes to improve their product post launch, while PD tries to perfect it during dev.

Not necessarily, remember the Evora, California and Citroën GT we got as DLC in Prologue? They weren't in the game as these cars were just released in real life ( and weren't around when Prologue was released ).
If PD are still modelling certain cars at the moment they also aren't already in the game, if they were they wouldn't be still busy modelling them now would they?

Offering newer cars as they are available in the form of DLC is a great idea. I hope this is the direction PD takes. Another track or two would be appreciated as well. I didn't have a problem paying for much of Forza's DLC, and the same goes for GT5. If I can use it and enjoy it, I will gladly pay for it.

Im suprised 20% of the votes here are no. No they won't have DLC I understand but no I do not want DLC I don't. With how long GT games take to come out I really hope there is DLC.

I understand why people feel like that even though i'm in favor of DLC. Many people feel that developers hold back content to sell at a later date. We're even at the point now where Day 1 DLC exists or DLC a week after a game is released. There's no reason that something like that should happen. It absolutely gives players the impression that those developers aren't including everything in the game from the start.

The way Kaz is GT5 won't fit on the disk and DLC will me mandatorey to play.

But I understand that disposition. If I would have bought a game and there was DLC within a week later I would be just as speculative.

just from my perspective and understanding, i really don't think PD would pull such a douche move as DLC within a week or even a month. from everything you read about the team, they seem to have poured their all into the development of this game. the delay has happened for whatever reason, but i don't think it's because they're holding anything back.

but DLC in the future ... it can only make things better than they'll be.

Even if content is released as early as a week after the debut, it doesn't necessarily mean it was held back purposely. Let's say during the time from when they started refining for production (so not adding more content) to the said week after debut another car is completed but they don't have time to add it to disc. They could have it ready for psn possibly even before the release of the product.

This could be used as a reason for any game to have DLC upon date of release. I think any new content in the first week should be free though.

you're right ... something i overlooked. but you're more right on in saying that 1st week dlc should be free, just for the reason you specified.

i don't really have a problem with paying for DLC, because if it's something I want, i'll pay for it. but like i said a few pages ago, it would be neat if PD comes out with fan-voted DLC if they do DLC at all. it's just a way to show appreciation both ways: they produce, and we buy.

I don't buy DLC too often, though I did already buy psn card's specifically for GT5 just incase lol. If not I will load up on psn PS1 games and gameshow games for me and the gf.

Yes I would like DLC content and I do not mind paying for it so long as the content is good and the price is within reason.

I would love to have additional tracks and cars added to the game over time as it would add to the long term playability of the game.

On the other hand if PD can get the next edition out by Christmas of 2012 on the PS3 then there is not a great need for DLC but would still be nice to have.

Do you want DLC in GT5? I don't. Well, not for track or cars but probably stuff like add on extra customization packages like rims, spoilers.

Yes .. bring back RED ROCK VALLEY you lazy *PD* thats all i want ... i can just imagine ... *Car-Dodge Viper Coupe 06.. *Track-RED ROCK VALLEY ...Setting the same as gt2 with the sunset *LOVE*:bowdown::cheers::nervous:

I am not to happy with the way Turn 10 has handled DLC but at least they did something good with the last round. They normally provide 1 free sample from each DLC pack that you can download and then it adds the graphics and car info for all the cars in the pack to yoru system so that you can at least see the cars when they are on the track.

Anyway the most recent free sample is the 550 Porsche which is a really sweet little car. I've been driving it now for the last few days beating my lap times in the lower classes on several tracks. I think it is funny too that was the only car in the pack that I really really wanted. :)

I would buy any DLC content for gt5....

I'm sure many feel the same way as I do, and PD would get a lot of extra $$$ if they did keep relasing extra features and content.

Even though gt5 has 1000 cars, looking at the list made me realise just how many interesting cars there are in real life because so many are missing!

Only about 1in 20 cars I can think of are actually in gt5

Even though I'm not a DLC fan( in fact I've never done it for any game), if prices are reasnable, as long as they keep making them I'll keep getting them even if it adds up to more than the cost of the game. I'm willing to make an exception for gt5 and i think many others are too.

And yea I would love to see a free DLC or patch even on day 1 of release.

Kazunori was always complaining about time restraints and meeting deadlines, well now he virtually no deadline and all the extra time he wants. It would be cool if since the delay they continued working on it, with a lot less pressurring them.

I just hope if we do see extra stuff from the game, its full patching, adding extra cool features and customizations, and not just straight up releasing boring Premium cars one after another.
I'm also talking extra tracks or variations with more weather options , more tuning parts, body kits, wheels etc. And it should ll be online and visible to others.

Dreaming....

As there are some huge gaps in the rooster, I'd sure like some sweet DLC to fix that. I'd be happy to pay for it and I think DLCs are great for keeping the game alive.

...and the game is out much earlier than it would have been if the gaps would have to be filled before the initial release.

LOL That must be an odd looking Rooster :sly:

Absolutely yes. As has been said before, DLC is how games are done these days. And I disagree completely that DLC means that the game was not released as a full game. DLC is simply a way of keeping great games fresh, new, interesting, and a way of implementing things that you didn't originally have time for/didn't really need for a full game. I would gladly pay for GT5 DLC (assuming it isn't $10 for 2 cars or something equally ridiculous).

I used to have a Trans Am that looked a lot like that white Firebird

Forza DLC usually worked out to about $5 for 10 cars or $5 for one track with variations.

I feel as though PD will be pressured into creating DLC by Forza 3. If they can do it and GT5 can't then there will be a big problem with keeping up with the Modern day cars and such.

I would love to see the Ford Focus RS MK2, I can't believe we have the ability to drive the Ford focus ST and not the more powerful RS!! Staying on topic with Ford, I would like to see Ken Block's Gymkhana Fiesta. 0-60mph in 1.9 secs and awesome control.

We also need the FXX, 599XX and the 599 GTO, which is essential for Ferrari.

Lamborghini needs to include the Reventon, and the Gallardo 570-4.

Bugatti, SS. No questions asked.

I've thought that almost everybody have atleast Visa-Electron in these days...? I just bought few days ago Worms from PSN with it... mainly because I wanted to test that method in PSN, and it worked fine.

In Finland, we have only 'few' Cash-Machines left anymore, so banks wants everybody should have Electron. (so they could save moneys, what those Machines takes from them... repairs, fillings, updates, etc etc )

indeed. here in denmark way over half pays with visa when they go shopping ect.

ofc "kids" and younger people might not have these. but you can all get an electron without a sweat. :)
