Joey DYou might want to throw a source on that TankAss95, since I'm assuming you didn't write it.
Take the existence of the universe. To call it the result of an ‘accident’ raises many questions — and answers none. The same is true of the ‘Big Bang’ theory. Where, for instance, did the raw materials come from? Not even a ‘big bang’ can make something out of nothing! The evolutionary idea is widespread but just as weak; how can ‘nothing’ evolve into ‘something’, let alone earth’s amazingly complex life forms?
All other theories are equally fragile. The only satisfactory explanation is this: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
*evolution does not claim this at all by the wayWhere, for instance, did God come from?... how can nothing*; evolve [or create itself] into something
ExorcetI didn't have to read very much to pick up issues already covered in this thread.
Like that. They already said God can't be proven, so the God theory is actually the most fragile of all.

Scientists are yet to explain why the universe continues to bother to exist.
Order probably (though that doesn't imply God). Why would the universe need motivation? The universe as far as I know needs some sort of order or motivation to exist
The reason why I posted that passage was because it explains what my belief of God is. If you read the first few sections, it explains many things that people have asked previous in this thread.
If you think the whole Christianity thing is nothing but false hope then I feel really saddened, but that's that. I don't want to, like Famine said, force my beliefs down peoples throats.
That post was what I should have said in my very first contribution to this thread, instead of these snapshots that I have randomly been placing around everywhere. This is what I believe in. I'm sorry if you don't want to read it, but I'm sure some people will.![]()
God's proof of existence is in the world we live in today. The universe as far as I know needs some sort of order or motivation to exist. Scientists are yet to explain why the universe continues to bother to exist.

But the greatest, the ultimate questions, are about God and your relationship to him. Nothing in life is more important than this. Good health, financial stability, secure employment, a contented family and a hopeful future are all things that people want. Yet even these are temporary and eventually pointless unless you have a living relationship with God, one that is clear and certain — and will last for ever.
homeforsummeryou make it sound like the universe is in some great struggle to exist, rather than just rolling along thanks to natural physical processes. It continues to exist because there's enough energy present to enable its existence.
And it's already been mentioned, but you can't use "scientists are yet to explain" as a disparaging comment about science. Science is yet to explain many things, but that doesn't make the future discoveries unimportant until they're discovered.
This has also been said before, but: Where you get to a gap in science, you appear to just give up and turn to god. Where i - and several others here, i suspect - see a gap in science, we see it as exciting because it's something we're yet to learn, something humankind will strive towards until they know the answer. It's the excitement of discovery and it's why we have the knowledge as a species that we do today.
Count me out of that, thanks.
Since i don't believe in god i have no relationship to him, and that being the case i'd rather enjoy the life i have than slavishly follow a set of rules set out by a mystical being.
BobalobI've always considered myself athiest (even when going to church) but I'm ready to believe Senna was the second coming.
I love his driving but never got his "visualisation of god" talk while driving but it makes so much sense if you consider his death was so influencial in motorsport safety and saving so many lives.
shmogtYou have to do something to make it believable. Like there's guys who are saints because they help out others and themselves last to make sure everyone else is doing good etc. So to claim you are Jesus would have to do a loooooot of good stuff. Plus a couple tricks like walking on water and stuff wouldn't hurt either.
If they did not then how on earth would they know the "real" Jesus?
driftking18594When they tell the wannabe Jesus to walk on water.
HeathenprideAnd he sayeth "dare you question your lord?!"
Remember dude that Christians tell everyone that He must never be questioned and blindly followed with faith... so there'll be no questioning![]()
SurebossOoh, differentiate between a cult and a religion.
I'm also liking the motivation of the universe, does it also refuse to wake up before 11am and goes to Art College?

You can mock the idea that the universe needs motivation or order to exist all you want, but many people think that.

MatskiMonkSince looking into quantum physics a little, I now believe everything exists.
Could you explain in more detail, please? I don't quite understand what you are saying.

I would go into further details, but to fully explain how I'd arrive at that conclusion I need a lot more time than I have now..!
