I thinks its fun to sit and watch for a little while, knowing its all fake. Something to kind od make fun of when hanging out with the guys.

I voted no though, because I don't consider myself a true fan of the shows.

Professional Wrestling falls somewhere between so-called 'Reality TV' and NASCAR in the 'Completely Contrived Entertainment' spectrum. Slightly faker than NASCAR, but much more honest about its fakeness than Reality TV is.

Interesting. You think Reality TV is fake? I never watch it so I never thought of that. Can you give an example?

Completely. Totally. Utterly. I never ever watch it either, but it is abundantly obvious from the commercials alone. It started with The Real World which was misnamed so badly it must have been sarcastic irony on the part of whoever did it. It's only gotten worse from there and I constantly wonder whether the supposed fascination the TV public has with these shows (as reported by the TV news, of course) is all part of the contrivance.

What else can you call the idea of taking hand-picked but ostensibly 'common' people, putting them in a situation that 0.0001% of the population will ever encounter in real life, filiming it, and manipulating the action to ensure that the outcome will maximize the ratings?

Whoever dubbed that as 'reality TV' was the most cynical person in history.

I guess wrestling at least doesn't expect anyone to think it's real.

I have to admit that I did catch a few episodes of Suvivor (my wife caught all of them). Those people are definitely in extraordinary circumstances, and it definitely does not resemble reality. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, those people just pissed me off.

Wrestling reminds me of a watered down version of the Colusseum. Gladiators for wimps.

That said, I detest the wrestling - I can deal with the fact it's fake, but it's just revolting - all these overweight, overmuscled meatheads (and some of the scariest women you'll ever see), it's just stupid.

Useless TV.

The only fake stuff I watch is Full Metal Challenge on TLC...the cars are cool, the things they do is cool, but the guy host is just full of it. He yells, he tries to be mean, he tries to be funny, and fails in all ways. There's 3 competitors each show, and 4 things that they do, from car bowling to going through a mirror maze. After the 3 thing, the one with the lowest points is eliminated. Not like a normal "You have the lowest points" thingy.
This twit says something to the effect of "Your car is mine, and I'm gonna BURN IT in my chimney!!!".
Only problem is, the chimney is an old smoke stack(this place is an old atomic power plant), and they have smoke rolling out of this ground level opening(where the car is supposed to be driven into). Now, the producers of this show aren't too smart, and accidently showed an up close view of the opening, and it was just rows of lightbulbs(painted orange) and the smoke. Then, on another episode, they showed the lady host walk out from this orange smoke and all. Also when they say that they are gonna burn the car, they show it driving up to the opening, and there's a mini explosion and the car just disapires...And there's someone driving the car! Then the team gives this "ohhh nooo " dramatic acting.

Without that crap, the show is cool...

i just remember watching a show a couple years ago and the two guys were climbing the side wall of the entrance structure and The King was going crazy saying they were 75ft in the air and they were actually no more than 30ft when one of them threw the other of as they were climbing.

I have to say that I liked it before I turned 10. When I realised it was fake I couldn't like it any more because I thought it was stupid.

I'm quite shocked at how big a business it's become. But I'm glad that the World Wildlife Fund won the "WWF Battle".
