Does Anyone Else Think That S2U's visual customization leaves more to be desired?

Nope. It's fine as it is. I try to keep the exterior as stock as possible anyway.

Edit: to clarify... It's obviously down to personal taste, but I usually feel that if it isn't in the manufacturer's options list it doesn't belong on the car. So I'm not a big fan of ricessories either.

Well, it's better than GT5, of course, which I played prior to Shift 2, so it's already more than what was available to me before playing Shift 2.

However, I've also played Forza 3. God, how I miss that livery editor and the store front to pick liveries from...

The livery editor is a real pain in the ... and the sets you create sometimes get randomly screwed up. It took me an hour to make a livery for my Murcie, just to realize 2 days later that the stripes were no longer in the position where I left them.

Also, I d like to have more extensive body costumization options. Not only complete packages, but individual body parts to choose from. But that would only be icing on the cake.

Livery editor could use some work, but the aero/body kits are great. It's nice to be able to actual build a race car with aero and wide fenders as opposed to an insanely worked over daily driver going in circles with other daily drivers.

As for wheels, I'm glad they are free, unlike in GT5, because they're just a visual change. I do however wish they changed the performance of the car, as in Forza. Just being able to choose any wheel to fit the car is a great change from GT5 though.

Compared to GT5, it's much better (since there isn't one no GT5  )

But as for a NFS game, the visual customization element is lacking. I'm not asking for much, but more shapes/objects/decals (manufacturers)/ numbers would be nice
and the ability to paint rims would be nice also.

Other than those 2 things, I like the visual system in the game.

Thanks for u guys opnion. I just thought they maybe could have gone more in depth, like a selection on race car body parts. Such as a selection of splitters, wings, body panels, carnards, air diffusers, cooling ducts, air dams, and hoods; u know things racers take into consideration when trying to get the most out of their car. I'd also like to see autosculpt comeback too. But each part should effect ur cars performance in different ways. Like maybe a certain fender flare has the wheel clearance u want, but not the aero u want, so autoskulpt it to get the most aero out of it. U know things like that. In no way am i complaining, I just thought it would be a good idea for SMS to consider doing in the next shift. I'm pretty sure they would blow forza right out of the water if they do.

im sure if need for speed franchise releases another most wanted it would probably be really in depth. Also with EA trying to realse 2 need for speed franchises every year it willprobably get closer and closer to what you are asking for with each game stang

The visual customization in this game is great. Just great. I love how I can make any car in the game look like a serious race car, especially with the works conversion. The aero kits are wonderful and I love how each car already has a set of liveries ready for it so you don't have to make one.

yea I don't think any racing game will ever beat forza when it comes to that 👍

I'm shaking just thinking about forza 4, too bad i won't be able to use my G27 with it :grumpy:

I think its lacking, i dont like the way it restricts your camera view to a side or the way you cant look round the car yourself without the camera snapping to pre determined locations. I also dont think theres enough options for the available vinyls, i like to create my own patterns and shapes sometimes and the isnt enough to do so without using loads of layers. It also deletes customs by itself just because it likes to (glitch) as hsa just happened to me after spending the best part of two hours doing my S15s vinyls

That's why I'm not getting it. If I cant use my wheel with it, it's just pointless. Stupid Micro$oft :)

lol I agree with you, but I loved FORZA 3, and I didn't mind playing it with a controller. Yea it su$#ed but I don't wanna miss that game just because of not having a wheel.

Forza 3 is the only reason I have a xbox 360 (I didn't pay for it, a buddy gave it to me because it was broken and another buddy fixed it for me for $10 lol)

I have to agree to some point that the customization is good, I just wish you had more control - for example the 3rd bodykit on the Golf GTI MK1 looks good but the lower front end looks horrible. A little more control over the modifications would be nice in these cases.

Edit: Oh, and I hope they will offer more liveries and/or bodykits via DLC!

I think some of the bodykits are just ugly, especially some car's side-skirts with rubbish cut-out sections in them (see MP4-12C Works).

I haven't played shift2 but if one is anything to go by, it's very good, not as in depth as older nfs games I played though, but still much better than anything GT has offered. The one thing shift has that no other "sim"? has, is wheels that actually look like they were made to fit on the cars and fill the arches properly, Looking at the S15 silvia in GT5 makes me sick.

I'm not too thrilled with the livery editor in Shift-2.., and I wasn't that impressed with the editor in Shift-1 either.

Honestly.., I think once you've spent a great deal of time using the livery editor in Forza-3, I think the faults/downside to the editor in Shift really stands out. Forza-3 has an amazing livery editor. Plus the online community for buying and selling liveries is AMAZING! Some of the art work done using F3's livery editor is freakin mind blowing! I can honestly say that I've spent a great deal of my credits in F3 purchasing really good liveries.

I'd love to see Shift with a livery editor like F3. I'd also love to see an online community added for Shift players to sell, trade, and buy custom liveries and tuning setups.

I tend to just use the colors and liveries that are already available. That's fairly satisfactory as far as I'm concerned.

For modifications I'd prefer to be able to add a rear wing, front spoiler, etc. at my discretion - not have to choose an entire body kit which I may think is ugly. For paint, I wish they'd just give us 100 preset colors to choose from instead of what they've got - everything I make tends to look, well, odd. And I can never seem to be able to get the exact shade of color I want.

I don't like the livery editor at all. It's time consuming and not user friendly. I loved what they had in Grid - very fast and easy to add logos, and you could have any sort of stripes or other paint schemes you wanted.

Over the years the NFS series have done customisation right so many times. Carbon/PS/MW had good bodykit modifications I thought, but Underground was the best IMO, especially considering how old it was.
The livery editor in this game would be great if the camera wasnt so awkward. Also, like someone said in another thread, they need to add logos from other companies that might not make products related to motorsport, but are involved in it. For example Vodafone, Red Bull etc.
Another thing that they need to do is bring back the colour wheel. I dont understand why they changed it for what I consider to be an inferior system. I dont know how to make varying shades of colours and I cant really be bothered to work out the maths to make it happen.

what i wish that they would do is let uscustomize all the bumpers and sideskrits i think if you go back and look at need for speed carbon and most wanted i think the visual customization features in those games were excellent.

I agree all the way. But all of the parts should be directed towards circuit racing instead of just show.

The livery editor feels like a half-baked afterthought to me. Spent two hours the other night painstakingly crafting a race livery for my BMW 135i, saved it and saw it there in back in my garage. Went to race the car next morning, poof - vanished. I will not bother again.

Glitches aside, there are other issues with it, firstly the lack of fine control when positioning the vinyl is pretty close to a deal-breaker. If there's a better way, I never hit upon it. No numbers, a limited selection of primitives and so on mean car painters are a lot worse off than with the original Forza (not to mention F2 and F3) or even something like Pro Street.

I do like the canned race liveries though, there's usually at least one good design out of the four and even better for the few cars that give you 10 to choose from. It's funny, in Forza 3 I almost liked painting the cars better than grinding through the bland career mode. Shift 2 is all about the racing, so I'm not overly concerned that trying to paint the cars is a waste of time.
