It's one of several proposed match ups he has for Taker. Others do include Cena and Styles though.

EDIT: So, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are being advertised for January 9th's Raw...
Hold on a min, i thought Undertaker was with the SmackDown brand? He aligned himself with SmackDown on the 900th episode.

I have no idea why he's on Raw as well, might be just for the ratings imo.

I liked the line from Styles saying Cena isn't as good as The Rock at movies and not as good as him at wrestling.

He went undrafted and despite everyone thinking he did, he apparently hasn't alligned himself with either brand. But as said above, it is most likely for the ratings and also to announce he is entering in the Rumble. Another thing to note is that this will be the first time Taker has been in New Orleans with the WWE since his loss at Wrestlemania 30.

So much salt seen in the comments though. This is where WWE has a problem in getting new talent from other companies, Fans. I can imagine if WWE were to raid talents from other companies that has these types of fans, the fanbase of that company will rage and will try to convince their favorite talent to not go to WWE.

What do you think?

I just find it massively hypocritical of fans that always complain about an ex-WWE star getting fame in another company (like RVD, Drew Galloway and Jeff Hardy in TNA). People even complain when a former WWE wrestler keeps their WWE gimmick elsewhere (*cough* Mr. Anderson *cough*)

but when people like AJ Styles, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens move to WWE and get glory everyone is fine and happy, even saying "future/new talent" even though they've been wrestling for a long time in other companies to the point where AJ Styles is around the same age as John Cena, yet people think John Cena is relatively old. No one batted an eye when WWE had their own version of Bullet Club either.

Well when one of the main men (*cough*Regal*cough*) involved says outright that they would still be able to work in the independent scene, you can see where this "salt" is coming from.

Isn't that the case for CWC competitors? Also if that's the case then why Finn Balor showed up in a indie show then?

Because that's a completely situation?

Regal assured Indie Organizations that their talent would be able to continue competiting during the tournament and if they were signed to the company. However this lastest development seems to be the exact opposite of what was promised.

I wonder why though? Is as if Vince took control of HHH's creation and decides to 🤬 around with it and tries to piss off indie fans who might watch WWE.

Well that's certainly one way to find a fresh challenger to Nakamura's belt... Now once that's done, and if Hero doesn't win, this is a great opportunity to put him with Cesaro and renact the golden days of the Kings of Wrestling. Hey, they're a proven team, and they would certainly liven up Raw's tag division... Just have Cesaro turn on Sheamus or something, a la Cody Rhodes/Hardcore Holly.

And since I mentioned Cody Rhodes, smooth segway!

Also, apparently it's only five days into 2017 and we already have a likely MOTY winner in Okada/Omega from Wrestle Kingdom 11.

I'm not surprised about that. The good news is that Omega made up from his disappointing Jr. Heavyweight title match one year ago, and stepped up to the plate. Haven't seen the match yet mind you, but I've seen some of Okada's previous title matches. He delivers, and in the Dome, his only mediocre match was his true comeback match against YOSHIHASHI (funny enough, to the point where he booed when he first challenged for the IWGP Hvy. belt). He'll be next in line for a WWE contract a la Nakamura if NJPW slips up one day, although now that is more unlikely than ever...

And yes, Cody also wrestled there, since he's now part of the Bullet Club. His first match was against Juice Robinson, also at WK11.

In other news, Mark Andrews is the newest UK challenger for the WWE UK title, after leaving TNA. Another TNA name boosts WWE's ranks, wouldn't you know....

Tomorrow night's Raw Roman Reigns defends the US title against both Owens and Jericho in a handicap match, get the feeling that Raw are scraping the barrel here...

Another main event that includes the same main eventers? Seriously when will they stop using the same guys?

They have to do something before this becomes too common for viewers to see. I mean can't they make the mid carders more important if they are lacking in main eventers?

I think it really is desperate times for Raw and the WWE. I mean, they've even wheeled out HBK for that episode, as well as a, so far, pointless and bizarre Undertaker appearance

It seems to me that Strowman is getting a push and i think is due for a match v Reigns after he attacked him and Rollins on Raw a few weeks ago.

I say give him the US title for now.

To be honest, this wasn't a surprise. They said it last week too.

It got worse.... Shawn Michaels just dabbed with TJ Perkins.

🤬🤬🤬🤬!!!

After that "bit", I think getting my wisdom teeth chiseled out was less painful.

That was the worst segment i have ever seen

I can't do it anymore. I've had enough. It's all horrible, I want to put my head in a vice. RAW is dead to me.

It is so bad, yet for some stupid ****ing reason What culture will find some ups on it

I doubt it WC rip on most things Raw wise. It's John O'clock!!

So we just gonna ignore Taker's groan at the end of his promo?

I don't watch the 'Ups & Downs' videos. Does Simon still do those?

Not enough Ross...

IIIT'S JOHN O'CLOCK MOTHER*******!!! GET IN THERE!!!

@NW48 I noticed he does that years ago, I think he even did that back in the '90s. I don't know if it's in-character or if rolling his eyes requires that much effort...I'll take the former.

I didn't fancy a GTP ban for imitating a smalltime WCPW wrestler/commentator
