Having a part-timer win the title only to drop it?For the sake of Taker's long term health, please just make him face Cena for the title, he wins, then retires the next night in easily wrestling's most emotional moment.
I am strongly against part timers winning the title, don't get me wrong, but if anyone deserves to win it as a part timer, it's Taker. His loyalty, dedication and legacy speak for itself, and since they wasted The Streak, you need to give the man something uplifting to end his career on. He deserves it. He's an undeniable icon of the sport, and an absolute legend. He's also the last wrestler of his generation, and keeps Kayfabe well and truly alive (99% of the time, that is). He's also the most widely respected wrestler in the locker room, and quite possibly ever.Having a part-timer win the title only to drop it?
That just spits on the face on the championship more than Brock Lesnar holding it while doing mostly nothing.
Undertaker is a great legend but even if he was to face Cena it shouldn't be for the Championship, the Championship should be for the people who currently working day in and day out to reach as an award for their efforts.
I don't have a problem with part-timers wrestling in general, though them stealing away any spotlight and titles feels completely wrong as its more about the wrestlers history and not what they're doing right now.
I'd rather a passing of a torch style to end it, I agree with you on many points of the Undertaker but him finishing at the top doesn't really feel right, IMO.I am strongly against part timers winning the title, don't get me wrong, but if anyone deserves to win it as a part timer, it's Taker. If he still had the streak, I'd be against a title win to end it but without it, a title win at least gives him something to retire on. The man has given life and limb for the business and has probably had his life shortened by it as well, so in my eyes, he absolutely deserves it.I'd rather a passing of a torch style to end it, I agree with you on many points of the Undertaker but him finishing at the top doesn't really feel right, IMO.
Passing a title, would mean Balor didn't earn the title and was just handed to him.If he still had the streak, I'd be against a title win to end it but without it, a title win at least gives him something to retire on. Maybe the next night on Raw as he is walking out of the ring, Balor comes out, meets him on the stage, and Taker passes the title to him. It'd be a great way for the show to end a great way to get Balor over in the fan groups where he hasn't, and it'd also create a the next big star.
I didn't mean that he becomes champion at that moment, but that passing the belt signifies a changing of the guard. When they do an inevitable tournament to find the new champion, he should win it though. That would be an epic story and a massive feel good moment.Passing a title, would mean Balor didn't earn the title and was just handed to him.
However it would create an interesting story dynamic.
No one really knows, from what I've read but he isn't cleared as of yet. But Balor has said that if he's asked by Vince if he's got his gear with him, he'll be ready to go.Is Balor cleared to return yet? Late Rumble entrant who could throw a wrench in everyone's plans.
I just find it boring with Ambrose hanging around both titles like a bad cold.AJ's WHC hasn't really been hot potato'd. Been booked reasonably well Ellesworth aside.
Yeah he's essentially a face to about 90% of the audience, but they keep pushing this face persona. If anyone can pull of a perfect double turn reminiscent of Austin-Hart at Mania, it's Styles and Cena at the Rumble. That's what I'm looking forward too. Cena's character is really starting to have this aura of entitlement to everything and it's the perfect time to pull the trigger with the fact he is essentially a part timer now.AJ Styles stories haven't really been interesting, he just can't carry the heel side of the story. He really needs to turn face,
I usually don't like part timers as champs (New Age Outlaws as Tag Team Champs, Brock Lesnar as WWEWHC, The Rock as WWE Champ, etc.) but in the case of Undertaker, he's an exception for me because he spent his career for two decades and since he lost The Streak, he deserves one last WWE title run before riding the sunset. As for the match, the choice between Cena or Styles as opponent is a tough one. You got one wrestler who is the face of the company for a long time but he's becoming a part timer as well while the other he hasn't got anytime left since he's in his late 30s so it's a hard decision to choose which wrestler should Taker face at his last Mania.
BTW, Taker's entrance should feature Jim Johnston performing a piano rendition of Taker's theme.
Usually I don't cry when someone on TV dies/retires but this one, I will cry to the point where I would thank Taker for his time in WWE. He can finally rest in peace. His final entrance needs to be that, for sure. Such a sombering theme. Definitely will make grown men cry at the time.![]()

Hanging his hat on the ring post, gloves, urn and trench coat in the centre of the ring, as he walks away would be an iconic image.Have him leave the Urn, and Hat and Cloak in the ring and exit to this. Think I'd sob a tear or two.
Only issue is that will kill the atmosphere of the show so will have to go on last. Which I think means he needs the rumble win to go face the champ at mania whomever that may be.Hanging his hat on the ring post, gloves, urn and trench coat in the centre of the ring, as he walks away would be an iconic image.
Jeez, maybe dropping them into a fire pit would be iconic as well, although completely random. But still emotional nonetheless.
Wait...Does the Rumble winner get a title shot or the main event? I know they go hand in hand majority of the time, but if it's the latter, he could theoretically challenge anyone he wants. Theory is a fickle thing though.Only issue is that will kill the atmosphere of the show so will have to go on last. Yeah Taker's last match has to go on last for sure. But his retirement segment, if Taker himself wants it, has to happen the next night on Raw, and definitely at the end of the show as well.Only issue is that will kill the atmosphere of the show so will have to go on last. Rumble winner always gets main event. It's just never been brought up that a title match isn't necessary.Wait...Does the Rumble winner get a title shot or the main event? The Royal Rumble winner always has a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania since 1993. In the first brand split, the 2003 winner had a shot at his brand's champion, but in 2004-2010, the winner had the option to jump brands to challenge the any brand's champion, including ECW. For example, Chris Benoit jumped brands and challenged for the World Heavyweight Championship when he won the rumble in 2004.Rumble winner always gets main event. Damn. I knew he was sick and was only given 6 months to live but wow. Sad to see him pass away so soon. Regardless of the whole murder case against him, Superfly was an inovator and an icon. Who'll forget that iconic moment at MSG of him jumping off the top of the steel cage and landing the Superfly Splash on Don Muraco. He will be greatly missed.
